Disable auto plugin checker

We are in a corporate network. regular users do not have the authority to install anything. So having the pluggin checker is useless for them. Is there a way to disable this so it can only be done manually
Thanks

Have you considered the ESR version of Firefox? http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/

  • How do I disable the plugin check at Firefox Version 18 or higher startup?

This thread carries on from a discussion about How do I disable the plugin check at Firefox startup? As clearly Tylerdowner did not like my previous message and so would like me to obviously start a whole new thread to find out what’s going on.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/938821
Tyler: I am still looking for support and so are the other 83 people who have this problem. Hence why I am here, not to have to start another thread, not to have a go at you or just to run around further to get a clear, straight forward answer. I am now back to running Version 12 (which, has not solved the problem), with up-to-date plugins which are all supported.
Don’t fob us off, PLEASE HELP. Unless I am very much mistaken, this is the place we are meant to find help, right? Not to be completely blown off because somebody says something you don’t like. Perhaps someone better suited to this will help. I’ll follow on from then with MY problem from Tyler’s final comment as it is highly relevant:
Tylerdowner: Rumor Control, if you are running Firefox 18 with up to date plugins, then you are having a different problem than this thread is about. This is for Firefox 3.6 users who have old plugins, not those with updated software.

I should also add this info for all to see clear as part of my question (can be seen in More system details too):
I liked that version, was the first ever FireFox browser I tried and because of it made it my number 1 browser. There have been a heck of a lot from 3.6 to 18 though I think we’d all agree. Progress can and often is messy, but worth it.
Which is fine except mine, a different version, up-to-date plugins – and I’ve still same problem as these guys. It’s exactly the same even for me who has updated: How do we get rid of the Plugin Check Screen every time we start FireFox? I know I am up-to-date – as it tells me every single time!
I agree everyone should be up-to-date with the software and this may very well be the case that solves a lot of people with lower versions – yet I can say I updated from version 12 to the latest 18, spent the time getting half a dozen different updates as it wanted (all of which are supported according to the link you provided) plugins and yet I am still having the same problem as users with 3.6 and older plugins! Went back to version 12.0 and I am getting the problem since installing version 18.
Therefore from the fact I’m still getting the popup every time telling me everything is updated and safe, which is lovely to know, still doesn’t change the fact it won’t go away! Not a major problem but it is getting tedious now every single time.
Like I say I am willing to wait and see if this gets fixed anyway which to be fair, FireFox seem to do a lot better than the competition. If it doesn’t though I’d still rather go back to an older version just to be rid of it! But not even that is now working to be gone of it! It’s gotten that ridiculous for me now too!
    :)

  • If there was a way to disable the plugin check completely, would this website be the right place to get an honest answer?

Most answers tell me how to update firefox or how to fix it, how to make the plugin check work or tell me some workarounds. That´s why i think Mozilla has no interest to let the people disable the plugin check, because it got implemented for a reason.
But the whole thing is not about computer science. It is about psychology, respect and the free will of the people.
At first i get annoyed by this plugin check, then i want my revenge. I want to disable the plugin check! I do not want to make the plugin check work. I do not want to install a new version of firefox. I do not want to update my firefox and i do not want to fix my firefox. In fact i want a (virtual) sledge hammer to destroy my firefox - just a little bit regarding the plugin check.
But one feels treated like a child, that has to be protected from it´s own decisions.
That´s when i feel annoyed the second time around.
So, if mozilla doesn´t grant me the choice to disable the plugin check at will, i am only free to decide which browser i´m going to use.

    @ the-edmeister
I´d like to apologise if you felt offended by my question. That was not my intention. Within my explanation i tried to describe the feelings of an unexperienced user like my father (77 years old). Because i felt the answers given so far were evasive. Everybody recommended to update or fix firefox respectively the plugin check, but no one seemed to answer the question if one can disable the plugin check completetly.
I just wanted to know if there is some kind of censorship that blends out answers inconvenient to mozilla. Thank you!

Can anyone give me some suggestions?
    thx for ur help.

    hi,Pradeep
    Thanks for your reply.
Actualy, the profile "OM: Quick Sales Order Form: Auto Refresh" has been setted into 'Line' firstly as we want to auto-refresh order lines.
So the 'auto refesh' checkbox is checked with default value in the screen,
but the order line would not be auto-refreshed when user uncheck the checkbox manually.
So we want to disable or invisible the 'auto refesh' item in the screen with form personalize,
the problem is i can not find the item or the block in the form.
Or is there any suggestions to archive this?
    Can you please help me?

  • How do I disable the Plugin check at startup in 17.0.2 esr?

In testing the latest 17.0.2esr I keep getting the plugin check at startup. Even logged in as a Standard user with no Admin rights I still get this page which makes no sense since Standard users do not have permissions to install software. This is supposed to be the Enterprise version of Firefox which in my mind means that all updates and controls are left to the dicretion of an Administrator and not an end user. Is this a bug in ESR? How do I eliminate this?

This can happen if there are plugins installed that are block-listed by Mozilla.

  • How do I disable the plugin check at Firefox startup?

Starting in the last day or two, every time I start Firefox, in addition to my homepage, I get a nuisance tab that is checking my plugins. I need to disable this stupid function or I will have to discontinue using Mozilla Firefox after 20 years as a faithful Mozilla user. I am happy with, and have no intentions of upgrading, my version of Firefox (3.6.17). I also have no intentions of upgrading my Flash plugin as newer versions are incompatible with an online activity in which I engage.
I have followed instructions in the user forum for changing the status of plugins.update.notifyUser from true to false in "about:config", but it apparently resets itself to true. None of the user forum suggestions correct this problem. If this unwanted, stupid tab cannot be disabled, I guess I will have to abandon Mozilla, both for Firefox and Thunderbird, and pursue options that do not force unwanted content on the user.
In addition, it seems impossible to actually speak to anyone at Mozilla about the problem. So hopefully someone will answer this question with a solution to the problem.

I have had this problem too. I tried both methods posted by other users and was unsuccessful. It is so annoying that I will no longer be using Firefox. Goodbye.

  • Java 6.18 Cannot disable auto update checks

JAVA Client Version 6 Update 18 Unattended Install
Here's the command line I'm using:
    jre-6u18-windows-i586-s.exe/qn /l*v c:\java618TestInstall.log AUTOUPDATECHECK=0 JAVAUPDATE=0
I see in the install logs that the AUTOUPDATECHECK and JAVAUPDATE property values do in fact, get changed to 0. However, when I open up the JAVA console from the control panel on the target machine, the "Check for Updates Automatically" check box is still checked. Am I hitting the wrong property? If so, which one do I need to disable this?
My users get frequently annoyed with the notifications popping up. Then they try to install the update and find that they can't because they don't have administrator privileges. I would very much rather push these out quarterly and not have to hear from them about trying to install the updates or receiving the notifications.
    Many thanks.

  • How completely to disable auto mail check on z10?

For example, I'm out of the subway and I see that I have a new mails. Or I manually change the network mode (4g|2g) and get the mail.

Each time I "checked in" a page it was common to receive a dialog reporting a huge number of spelling errors.but there is no error on page...it is taking "Apppart" list items errors and wherever we have that weppart on pages it
is showing 123/124 spelling error(s) found.

or how can i avoide those errors from publishing page?

  • Disable auto spell check

Is there any way to set iPhoto to NOT "Check Spelling while typing" by default ? I know I can set that every time I type in a text box, but I want to make that the preference. Really annoying to see those red underlines in every text box simply because I use a specialized vocabulary.

Run the Spell checker and for those specialized words click on the Learn button. They won't be highlighted any more after that.

  • How do i turn off automatic plugin check on startup... I have turned off in options/advanced, but still checks on startup

on firefox startup I get two tabs... one for google (my home page) the other for plugin check. I go to tools/advanced and turn off startup check for plugins, the restart firefox... the plugin check tabe still appears. All of my plugins are up to date!!! How do I stop this auto plugin check from taking place each time I start up firefox? This never was a problem before, just started yesterday and I can't stop it.

I started using Fire Fox to get away from this crap. I consider this forced plug in thing to be a tracking Trojan and pop up adds. It's my opinion this has become no different than I.E. or any other Micro Soft application where I loose control of how I manage my own computer applications by having things forced on me that I necessarily don't want. I plan to quit using Fire Fox until I am assured this doesn't happen any more and and feel confident my browsing and other web activity is not being monitored and tracked by Mozilla. What other data and applications can we assume they are looking at on our computers? I think if this is the direction they are now headed, other folks should do the same thing.

  • Disable Auto Align in Photomerge

    Good day.
So far I got good reply.
For now I wonder, can "Auto Align Selected Layers Based on Contents" be disabled during photomerge?
    Why do I want that?
=> First, most of times the auto align result is not good
=> it takes time to wait for window to appear, sometimes hangs
=> When all images are jumbled together, it is like making jigsaw puzzle.
Actually I got used to Photoshop CS2 where I disable auto align check box...
And I manually create the "mosaic" (not just a flat panorama) from images taken from microscope.
    Thanks in advance.

However, even if I use interactive layout in PSE11 (trial version)...
The software still attempts to "Auto Align''
I don't know of a way to turn that off.
    r_vinoya wrote:
is it possible to photomerge first without blending... then blend it later when you already fixed the image position?
You can turn the blending off, but I don't think that automated blending later can be done.
As it seems that you want to do most of the work manually, have you considered just creating a new blank image of the anticipated width and height of your final composite (plus a contingency) and dragging your source files to it to put each one on a layer where you can individually move them into place?
There is a workaround to restore the interactive layout to PSE12 - http://forums.adobe.com/message/5741182. If you don't have access to PSE11 (you need to copy some of the PSE11 files) you can download its trial from http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l. Follow their very important instructions EXACTLY or you will likely encounter authorisation errors or download the latest version instead.

Firefox frequently 'not responding' having auto-installed version 10 yesterday. No previous problems. Have disabled all plugins and uninstalled and then re-installed Firefox several times today. Problem persists making continued use of this browser very unlikely unless a quick solution is found! Can anyone help please?

Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:
    * [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]
    * [[Firefox hangs]]
Check and tell if its working.

  • After downloading the "new version" of Java 6 times, my plugin-check page states that it has disabled my "outdated version" and asks for me to upgrade. What do?

    Background:
I have had this problem for several months, now. This problem began when an update came for Java on the Firefox Plugin-check. I promptly installed the new Java update. But the Firefox update wouldn't register that I downloaded it, even after I refreshed the page. So, I got rid of the old Java, and downloaded the new Java again. When the page continued to display the same message it had before, I downloaded it a few more times. Finally, Firefox stopped saying that I was out of date. Then a few weeks later maybe, I check Firefox Plugin, and on the page it says that I am outdated in Java. So I downloaded Java again. But Java was still in the list, with red and said that it needed to be updated. I restarted the computer. Then, I restarted Mozilla Firefox with no add-ons. When Java still appeared that it needed to be updated, I gave up and didn't do a thing more about it.
    Problem:
Today I decided to check my plugins. Java was not in update the list, and at the top a banner stated, "Missing JAVA? For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please upgrade to the latest version." I clicked "upgrade to the latest version" and was led to the Java page. I clicked the download button. My cache stated that this was the (6) download of that same Java plugin (see background). I chose to re-download it anyways. But Firefox still insists that I have not downloaded it.
    Question:
Do I need to go to the control panel of Java and change something? Do I need to fix some setting on Firefox? Should I disable Java altogether, delete all Java-related files on my computer, and start all over with Java? What should I do?

Try using http://ninite.com/java/ninite.exe to install Java. Please note that even though you download it you have to double click it to get it to run and install.

  • How do I disable Plugin Check?

How do I disable this new "feature?"
    * It opens up a new tab on startup that I don't want.
    * The check doesn't even work half the time.
    * Most of the plugins it finds are "unknown" (despite the fact that I know where every one of them came from!)
    * It doesn't register that I've already updated all the plugins that it can find
    * And in case anybody from this plugin check project is reading this, please, ''please'' add in a way to stop this check from running on startup. I know you want to help, but you're just annoying the userbase.

I had no luck with other alleged solutions, and one I tried caused Adobe Flash Player to screw up (as others have reported elsewhere). Here’s what I did to help alleviate (not solve) the Plugin Check problem:
    1. Type “about:config” (without quotes) in your web address box and hit return. This should take you to a (not-so-secret) Firefox configuration page that lists the many Firefox settings.
    2. If you first get a warning message, click the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button. Do be careful not to mess up any settings unintentionally. (The worst scenario might be that you have to re-install Firefox—do you have your preferred Firefox version [e.g., 3.6] setup file saved somewhere? You may want to download it first, to be safe.)
    3. Once on the about:config page, in the “Filter” box at the top type “plugins.update” (again, no quotes). This should reduce the visible list down to only two (or so) settings. (Don’t worry--doing this does not change or remove anything, just makes the list you see more manageable. The full list will still be there if you remove the filter.)
    4. Double-click on the “plugins.update.url” setting line to change the address “https://www.mozilla.com/%LOCALE%/plugincheck/” to anything else you want, for example “http://www.google.com”, or “http://my.ebay.com”, or your homepage address. Then exit Firefox (there is no "save" action needed).
Now when you start Firefox again you will have two tabs, one with your homepage and one with that other address in place of the Plugin Check page. This doesn’t solve the problem, but at least you do not have to look at the annoying Plugins Check page. (You can always put the original address back in the about:config page if you do want to see the Plugin Check page.) If you make the address your homepage, you’ll have two homepage tabs and can ignore or delete the second one.
Let’s hope a real solution (for FF 3.6 users) is found soon. I suspect that Mozilla wants everyone to switch to Firefox 4, which may be the real answer. Annoying.
