Disable Auto Recharge from Skype

Hi Team,
I have already subscribed for three months unlimited plans, I found my auto recharge was active.
So I wanted to disable auto recharge automatically 10 Euro has been deducted from my credit card.. Please revert that money to my account ASAP.

Hello, the Auto-Recharge was added to my one time 5EUR credit payed against my will and without my consent. I explicitly didn't want to put my bank account at risk by having this Auto-recharg option which allows unlimited calls to hackers who might hack my Skype account and I want to  disable auto-recharge before I have any such problem.
Pls I need the e-mail contact to Skype people in charge as I do not want to spend money
calling them from Europe by phone and please where Ikype membership as I ado not want to risk any further with such organization. Please give me some real contact address.
Thank you for your help in advance. Best regards, Dom

Hi, Sivacak, and welcome to the Community,
Please check your Skype account dashboard to determine if the charge was posted to your Skype account, or not.  If yes, your Skype account has been compromised: change your Skype account password immediately and please contact Skype customer service.  Also, cancel the subscription or purchase.
If not, contact your bank immediately to report the fraudulent, unauthorized purchase.

  • Disable Auto-recharge for ever

    hi
I'm angry because Skype enables by default Auto-recharge.
This is the third time I have to go login into my account and disable it.
    Skype guys:
Please, please, please, please read carefully, "UNCHECK" Auto-recharge option when buying more Skype credit. I "DO NOT" want auto-recharge my account.
I expect it's clear to you.
and pleadse refund my remaing balance to credit card which is connected to my account
    Thank you!

I have had this problem for many YEARS.  Before Microsoft bought Skype I had this problem and it annoyed me so much that I sent an e-mail directly to the previous owbers saying that I was going lawyer up becuase it is a blantant misuse of my personal details (basically a credit card scam). After that it was turned off, however it is now turned back on. The only way that I seem to get around it is by deleting my cc details, unless of course you are buying through paypal then skype will pull your details back off paypal and then recheck the auto-recharge and thats after you disable it.
This little feature is extremenly unfair and probably sue-worthy. If there are enough people frustrated about perhaps we can write to a newspaper saying how skype basically scams you credit card? I vote  for the boston globe.

  • Disable auto login from terminal in 10.6

    Hi everyone,
What is the command to disable automatic login from the command line in 10.6? I cannot simply delete the com.apple.loginwindow.plist file as I have other settings I need to keep.
    TIA!
    Andrew

    Hi,
you can use the defaults system to edit this preferences file. The autologin option is stored in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow in a key named autoLoginUser followed by the user name who is configured for an auto login. To disable this option you can simply delete the autoLoginUser key by using the following command:
    defaults delete /library/preferences/com.apple.loginwindow autoLoginUser
You can check the content of a preferences file by using the defaults read command:
    -----------------------snip--------------------------
    defaults read /library/preferences/com.apple.loginwindow
    OptimizerLastRunForBuild = 21186464;
    OptimizerLastRunForSystem = 168166144;
    lastUser = loggedIn;
    lastUserName = pronto;
    ----------------------snip----------------------------

  • Unable to disable auto-recharge

I can see the Disable button for the auto-recharge option, but nothing happens when I click it. The option stays enabled.

Try another web browser or computer.  I was able to disable mine without issue (as well as re-enable it).  This is how it should appear:

  • Auto-recharge runs amok - warning!

Chat support seems unable to grasp this issue and the form to submit email questions is having some unspecified problem that keeps it from going through.
I want to give folks a heads up who use Skype Credit with Auto-Recharge enabled that despite a very specific scope of services, Auto-Recharge has lattitude within Skypes billing systems to 'vote early and often' as it were.
In multiple places in your account you can find notes like: "Auto-recharge is enabled - Your Skype Credit balance will Auto-recharge with $10.00 when it falls below $2.00 using payment method PayPal"
That (and the other pages and FAQs) clearly define the scope as being limited to charging you $10 when your balance falls below a trigger point.
A reasonable person would assume this means the only time Skype would charge me is when my trigger point is reached - and that the only charge would be one in the amount of $10.
This is not however what happened to me.  I had a $24 Skype Online Number charge set to bill to Skype Credit.  When this occured in February, Paypal charged me three separate times for $10 each, until it had enough Skype Credit to process the $24 charge on the account.
While I don't have an issue with paying for the Online Number, and wouldn't have an issue with Skype attempting to use the available balance for that charge or even ultimately for Skype to charge me $10 to try to cover the charge, the underlying issue here is that Skype feels that having approval to charge me $10 under specific circumstances is the same as having my approval to charge me to cover ANY amount that their system happens to think is due.
What if there was a billing error (we've all experienced something like this) and the automated system thought that I was to be charged $240 instead of $24?  It would have tried to hit my account 24 times instead of just 3.
The correct response to this situation would be for Skype to email my account with a notice that my online number recently attempted to charge my Skype Credit but that it was unable to go through ... please go check and resolve the issue, etc.  Skype lacks the authority to charge me over and over as it pleases until it decides it has enough to process automated charges.  Skypes only authority is to charge me $10 when my account balance gets below $2.
Online chat's only support advice in February was to disable Auto-recharge ... which by all other accounts is very convenient.  I would not remember to log in to cover my $3 monthly charge every month, so within the scope of the auto-recharge agreement it works very well ... it's just that somewhere a glitch came into the works and this vehicle into my bank account now lets skype do whatever it wants with my bill.  Online chat also gave me an invalid 'SR' number after promising to report this to the developers, so I was unable to get someone to check on the status of that issue.
While changing Online Number to bill a different method might solve the specific issue of my online number, it doesn't change the fact that Skype has and likely will continue to operate with this problem in place unless there's some way to communicate the issue to someone who will take ownership of the customers expereince and resolve to have this hole patched.

    Hi, Carolina,
Unfortunately, it sounds like your Skype account has been hacked.  More information on this here: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10920/what-can-i-do-if-someone-has-taken-over-my-account
Check your on-line account purchase history and please also check with the issuer of the credit method you had on file to ensure no fraudulent charges were posted to the account.  I suggest continuing to monitor that account - and changing that account password, too.  Kudos to you for taking the pro-active steps of changing your account password and disabling auto-recharge immediately!
Make sure your computer is fully updated, and run your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware program using the latest virus signature files.

  • Skype auto-recharge enabled by itself

    Hi,
I received an email stating that I have topped up $10 from my paypal to my Skype account due to auto-recharge. However, I have disabled it in the past. Furthermore, the email sent to me is in mandarin. Please help to correct this. I have since disabled Skype auto-recharge, but just a few moments ago, I received 3 more emails stating that I have auto-recharged (3* $10) from my paypal account! I hope that Skype can resolve this as it is a major nuisance and breach of trust. Thank you very much.

Hi, is there any Skype personnel that can help me with this? I have not received a reply since then and it is impossible to email skype for help. Thank you very much.

    Hello [Redacted for privacy],
    Auto-recharge has been cancelled
This email confirms that Auto-recharge has been cancelled for the Skype Manager called [Redacted for privacy].
Possible reasons why Auto-recharge was cancelled are:
    1. You cancelled Auto-recharge yourself.
    2. The credit card you use for Auto-recharge payments has expired.
    3. You are using PayPal for your Auto-recharge payments and either the credit card linked with your PayPal account is no longer valid (for example, it has expired), or you have cancelled your billing agreement with Skype on the PayPal website.

This is one of those sets of issues which can be resolved only by contacting Skype Customer Service directly to enquire why the change was effected.  We here in the Community do not have access to Skype account or Skype Manager account details.  As a proactive measure, I would change all Skype account and payment method account passwords immediately if this has not already been done.
Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
You will need to proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with. Then, continue past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the blue "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip through Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started. • My Skype and Auto-recharge on low balance Story

I signed up for one of skype subscriptions, and I was ready to pay a monthly fee for this service. After some calls I noticed that I was being automatically charged after a few minutes while I was NOT expecting a charge until AFTER a month. Well...Found out my card was automatically and by default checked for the auto-recharge on low balance option! I did not choose this...and when I tried to explain to one of the skype representatives that this option should be a choice by the customer and not a default setting, she explained that "it is the default because you have the choice to cancel it"...She subsequently denied me any refunds, and told me to cancel the setting if I didn't like it. I bet that this was an issue that many customers had encountered, and I looked throught the community, and yes! the "default" was not an option that many customers liked, and when I tried to see if something had been attempted about it..resolved?no. class action suit? may be? Well....somewhere in their corporate policy/culture, and somewhere in their "I agree with terms and conditions" tons of pages, I might have signed away my rights to any class action suit!! HMMMM...guess all that's left now is to see, with my poor music writer/composer skills, if I can come up with a crazy-fun-interesting video about this that goes viral on youtube !

Hi, cecita799, and welcome to the Community!
Is your account part of a Skype Manager account?  I ask this because you posted your enquiry on the Skype Manager message board; so if the answer is yes, the account manager may have added credit to your account.
If your account is not part of a Skype Manager account, you would have to log into your account on the Skype website, click on View Details in Payment Settings, and click Disable to the right of Auto Re-charge.

  • How to disable automatic sign in from Skype for ma...

Hi, all, there is a way to disable automatic sign in from skype for mac
    1. Simply turn off internet connection of your computer.
    2. Launch skype
Skype cannot sign in and you will get error screen, there you can sign in from your different account.
    Peace

Another option is to sign out of the current account (under File), then uptick the box that says "Sign me in when Skype starts" before signing in again from whichever account takes your fancy.
