Disable automatic Agent restart

I need to temporarily disable the agent restart when a RAC node is bounced.
Can someone tell me how the agent is configured for automatic restart on an AIX RAC node?

Yeah, I knew about the watchdog.
I'm talking about server restarts though.
I have not specifically configured the em agent (10.2.0.2) to restart when the cluster node restarts; however, it does restart on it's own. This is also the case with the non-RAC em agent installs. I could not locate anything in /etc/init.d for this purpose. I seem to recall reading something about gcstart or something like that, but I could not locate the document.

Got a linux rac cluster, the nodes rebooted the other day. One agent started, the other didn't.
We have a shared agent home, anyone know what automatically restarts the agent? Just need to ascertain why the other didn't start.

When you deploy an agent on a linux host, Oracle automatically creates a file /etc/init.d/gcstartup that is responsible for startup of an agent (and OMS on oms host). Please, check that there are links to gcstartup in rc3.d/rc5.d something like this:
# ls -l /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S??gcstartup

Transactional replication triggers disabled after server restart

Hello Everyone,
I have been facing this issue since couple of days. I have configured transactional replication with updatable subscriber in sql server 2008 R2. It was working fine till date. Recently we are facing an issue where subscriber whenever restarts, one
of the table's replication triggers(insert, update and delete) are disabled automatically. We have to manually enable all the triggers for that table. Other tables are working fine. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked information from replication monitor?
You should disable all triggers because you don't want SQL Server to fire the trigger on the Subscriber database when the database receives an insert, update, or delete operation. Because the trigger has already fired on the Publisher database, firing the trigger
on the Subscriber database might repeat the transaction.

It's the Resume feature.
When choosing Restart, Sleep or Shutdown there is a checkbox you can uncheck to prevent the apps from launching.
Also in System Preferences > General there is a hard-to-find checkbox under "Number of recent items" you can turn off.
Also, you can hold the shift key to disable resume on a one time basis.
You can turn off Resume globally by going to ~/Library/Saved Application State and deleting that folder.
(note that the User Library is hidden - one way to get there is to go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library")
To turn off autosave and versions globally
If you're experiencing slow opening apps or windows since upgrading to ML... as I have... and you don't want your OS to automatically save your TextEdit files, etc. then simply disable Autosave and Versions via Terminal.
If you don't want autosave or resume you can copy & paste this command into Terminal at the prompt...
defaults write -g ApplePersistence -bool no
Press return
Now reboot.
The reverse would be "yes".

Cannot Disable Automatic Audio Fade-In

I've exhausted all available advice about this issue and it's still happening - I cannot prevent iMovie from applying a fade-in effect on audio clips. Despite disabling "automatic content" and moving the fade toggle in the audio clip all the way to the beginning of the clip, it's still happening.

Macbook won't let me disable automatic login.

I have always had my macbook set to automatically login. Recently, though, I moved and have new roommates. I would like my macbook to require a password before logging in when it is started. I have tried disabling automatic login two different ways:
*System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options > Automatic login: Off*
and
*System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > Disable automatic login*
In both cases I click the little lock in the lower left-hand corner and type in my password before changing the setting. After changing the setting, I click the little lock again so it returns to the locked position. However, every time I shut down or restart, my computer automatically logs in and when I look at the system preferences, they are once again set to *Automatic login: [my account name]* and *Disable automatic login* is unchecked.
What can I do to get the settings to remain changed? I am not super tech-savvy, so any suggestions will be appreciated.

What model year it the Mac you have? If it is a Late 2011 or newer model then you can first reinstall the Original version of OS X that came on it by using the Online Internet Recovery system. Hold down the Command+Option/Alt+r key at startup and hold them down until you see a Spinning Globe in the center of the screen. From the screen that comes up use Disk Utility to Repartition the drive as one partition aand when that is done close DU and Select Reinstall Mac OS X.
If it is older then a late 2011 model then you will need the Original System disks for that Mac. These can be order from Apple for a small charge.

Safari starts automatically when restarting (Snow Leopard)

Two days ago, Safari began to start automatically when restarting the system (iMac, Snow Leopard). I checked in Accounts>Login Item and it doesn't appear there. I also right-clicked the icon in the dock and the option to open when starting session was disabled.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
As Guest, launch the application(s) and test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on some Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

OEM agent restarts frequently

Hi,
I have an OEM agent monitoring RAC database,agent is getting restarted 2-3 times a day.
Agent:10gR5 with latest PSU
OMS:10gR5 PSU4
OS: Solaris 5.10
Agent log shows below error

DeskI Processing Server disabled automatically in cluster XIR3 environment

I have a problem theses days.
BOE Version: XI3.0
There is a cluster environment with 8 Windows machines.
Restart the machines every morning with the command "shutdown -r -m
rhnlpiwa7 -f"
by turn every 25 minutes.
(machine: rhnlpiwa1~7)
eg. restart rhnlpiwa1 9:00 am
                rhnlpiwa2 9:25 am
                rhnlpiwa3 9:50 am
                rhnlpiwa4 10:15 am
The problem is that there will be 1~3 Desktop Intelligence Processing Server disabled automatically.
And when restart the disabled DeskI Processing Servers, they will be enabled.
I read the log file and found that the disabled rhnlpiwa3.Desktop Intelligence Processing Server
registered on rhnlpiwa7.Central Management Server:6400.
Could anyone tell me how to solve the problem?
And why are the servers disabled?

I don't think so. When they noticed that servers being disabled, they restart them and the servers will become enabled.

They sent me the properties set for each Desktop Intelligence Processing Server.
It is the same with the default settings and nothing have been changed.
And all the machines were deployed and configed the same.

Cannot disable automatic attachment preview in Mavericks Mail?

Hello All,
I noticed after upgrading to Mavericks that Apple Mail started automatically previewing attachments again... I had disabled this in previous versions of OS X. I tried to disable this again in the terminal using:
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes
But after re-starting Mail, attachments are being automatically previewed again.
I consider this a security issue so I would like to disable automatic attachment previewing as soon as possible. Has anyone been able to do this with the Mail included with Mavericks yet?

Just a basic examplo: getting an email with an open image, that the 2 people around me can immediately see, can pose a serious security for anything I'm doing with my Mac!

That's a privacy problem, not a security problem.
If you are receiving images in emails that the others arround you are not qualified to see, your office setup is the security problem, not Mail.
Use a different email client that gives you the option. I have no idea what those are, though.

Dear all, why i can't disable automatic login in Mt. Lion 10.8.4??
i'm using a MBP 2.4Ghz/Intel core i5 / late 2011 model, running 10.8.4
each time i turn the wifi on and select the name of network, it will automatically login without asking my password, (I just want it ask me for password every time coz i don't want the password stay on the computer!)
and i had did the following already but the nightmare still go on, please kindly let me know if the issue can be fix? thanks a lot!!!
1. network panel : click advance and remove all network names in the window, and unchecked the box "Remember networks this computer has joined".
2. Security Panel : selected "Disable automatic login"
3. Users & Groups panel : Automatic login : selected "off"
4.inside the Library / Preferences folder : "com.apple.loginwindow.plist", "com.apple.airport.preferences.plist" & " NetworkInterfaces.plist" all are deleted

Open Keychain Access and locate the entry for the network logon, select the entry and press the Delete key. That will remove the password from your Keychain and the system will have to request your password to log onto the network. Note: keychain entries are securely encrypted so even if someone has access to your computer, it would be highly unlikely they would be able to retrieve the network password.

This is a new behavior introduced in Lion. You can disable it completely via System Preferences, General: uncheck the "Restore windows..." box toward the bottom.
You can disable this behavior on a case by case basis by either closing all windows before quitting, or holding the option key while quitting, or holding the shift key while launching from dock.

SQLAGENT.OUT, the log file for SQL Agent. SQL Server Agent can maintain up to 10 Error Logs files. The currently used SQL Server Agent Error Log will be named SQLAGENT.OUT
where is the SQLAGENT.OUT file?
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SQL2012\MSSQL\Log\
What will be when a new file create?
The old file should get a name like SQLAGENT.X and the new file get the name SQLAGENT.OUT (X is numbers 1-9)
This can help you to get more information on sql agent properties (like the location of the log file, the user that start the service and more):
