"Disable Bad Name Cache" and "Disable Bad Address Cache"

hi,
on some issues it helped to deactivate "Disable Bad Name Cache" and "Disable Bad Address Cache".
Where/ how can we set these options for zcm 10.3 agents?
thx,
hugo

Those are Novell Client settings not ZCM Client settings.

  • Bad Server Name Cache

    Hello,
Is there an equivalent of the Bad Server Name Cache in the settings for Novell Client 2 for Windows 7? We need this to get our Windows 7 clients working properly with DSFW, but it appears Novell removed this setting, for some reason.

I checked with a member on the Novell Client team. The Novell Client for Windows 7 does not have this configuration setting. So other option available is to change the 'Network Provider Order' to list Microsoft Client ahead of Netware client.

  • Problem with /dev/modem (bad address)

I recently updated a bunch of packages on my system, one being kernel26-2.6.10.  After doing so, when I try to connect to the Internet using wvdial, I get the following messages:
    Cannot open /dev/modem: Bad address
    Cannot open /dev/modem: Bad address
    Cannot open /dev/modem: Bad address
I have an Intel 536ep modem, and have the latest driver package installed.  I think this might be kernel related, but I'm not sure.  This happens whether or not I run udev, and I tried disabling hotplug also.
Does anyone have ideas about what might be causing this?
    Thanks!

Why don't you reconfigure wvdial device in /etc/wvdial.conf?
    http://open.nit.ca/wiki/index.php?page=WvDialReadMe
Perhaps you've overwritten your previous config during last upgrade? (ls /etc/*.pac*)
It's also easy to create /dev/modem rule for udev but it's safer to just use /dev/ttySx in /etc/wvdial.conf (in case you have several modems - theoretically :-) - you should rather create /dev/modems/modem1 etc. or something like this).

  • Leopard; "router returned bad address"

i put on my screensaver and was getting ready for bed, when the processor fans started firing up again. the only app i had open was iChat, and it wasn't using anything substantial in terms of CPU. activity monitor showed the same.
until i opened up console and found this message over and over again:
29/10/2007 01:08:04 mDNSResponder[23] handleLNTGetExternalAddressResponse: Router returned bad address
    29/10/2007 01:08:04 mDNSResponder[23] Error getting external address 3
see here for a screencap. google/apple discussions provided little to no insight.
lather, rinse, repeat. this happens every 8 seconds or so. what's going on? i have an airport express bridged from a linksys router, and i've never had an issue with it before. resetting both didn't help, firmware's up to date.
any insight would be extremely helpful.
    10.5 build 9A581

Maybe its not your router, maybe its mDNSResponder itself..... It doesn't seem to me like a router would randomly begin to hand out bad network addresses unless your access was rejecting itself (ex. your saved password was wrong because you changed the password on another machine and didn't replace the old one in the keychain), or if you were getting DDoSed (Denial of Service attack, which executes malignant code on your system in order to crash/shut it down).
UPnP??? Thats required for certain network access...... Not sure what would be affected off the top of my head though, I guess... you'll just have to wait and see.
Are you absolutely sure your not getting these errors anymore with UPnP disabled?

  • How can I purge a bad address from iPad Mail?

I have entered a bad address for my husband, thinking it was his correct e-mail address. I finally figured out it was wrong(there was an extra letter in it) and I changed it in contacts to correct it(Mobile Me corrected it on all my devices).
Now when I type in his name to send him an e-mail, iPad keeps wanting to send it to the old incorrect address, instead of the corrected address shown in contacts. Please tell me how I can purge the incorrect address from the mail program.

The more times that you use the correct email address, the sooner the correct address should come up as the first option in the list. Still can't delete it, but eventually the correct address should pop up as the first option over the incorrect address.

  • Disable Global address list suggestions when composing e mail

I got a question of one of my users a few days ago pointing out that when using an Iphone with Active Sync / Exchange synchronisation he is not able to disable e mail address suggestions he gets when typing the e mail address in the TO field comming from the Global Address list.
My user wants to use his personal contacts he uses in Outlook, but does not want to use the Global Address list from exchange. (at least not the automatic suggestions which pop up during typing an e mail in the TO / CC fields when composing an E mail.
I am able to disable this in the Contract app, but not in the E mail app in IOS.
It seems that when I enable to sync the contacts I get both the Personall contacts plus the Global Address list, there is no way to set any setting in regard to the contacts here.
I cannot find any setting which disables the phone of looking up the address I am typing in the Global Address list, having a verry big corporate global address list (we use this in our desktop / outlook environment) this can be verry annoying.
Anyone who can tell me if I can disable this (or not) and if so point me in the right direction ?
    Thank you

What device do you have? And what is missing? You Compose a message, choose a name, then they have email addresses missing? or the contact is missing?

  • Ping machine name returns machine.Home and incorrect IP address

I have a small home network (5 machines) with the E8350 (AC2400) and an ActionTec modem PK5001A from Centurylink.  I put the router in Automatic Configuration - DHCP mode.  The modem WiFi is disabled.  The network appears to function properly except for the fact that when I ping some machines on my network they return an incorrect IP address like below.  All machines are running Windows 8.1 Pro and have all the latest updates. As you can see the machine name is suffixed with .Home and the IP address is to somewhere in Colorado; I'm in Washington state.
    C:\>ping machinename
Pinging machinename.Home [198.105.244.23] with 32 bytes of data:
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Ping statistics for 198.105.244.23:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
    C:\>
    IP address is actually 192.168.1.100
What can cause this problem and how do I correct it?

Below is a list of some things that stick out after analyzing you ipconfig post:
Your adapter is set to bridging "Ethernet adapter Network Bridge"; why?
The adapter has a DNS server "205.171.3.25"
The DNS Suffix Search List is set to: Home; which in itself isn't an issue useless a DNS server has that domain in it's records
The DNS server "205.171.3.25" actual responds for the domain "home":
    The nslookup command below:
    C:\Users\chad>nslookup
    Default Server:  OpenWrt.lan
    Address:  192.168.200.1
    > server 205.171.3.25
    Default Server:  redirect1.qwest.net
    Address:  205.171.3.25
    > home
    Server:  redirect1.qwest.net
    Address:  205.171.3.25
    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name:    home
    Addresses:  198.105.254.23
              198.105.244.23
    >
    Solutions:
    Remove DNS entry for 205.171.3.25
Disable bridging on the adapter (AFAIK it's not required or recommended)
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

I "reply"ed to an e-mail message. The next time when I chose to write a new message and type the first letter of the person I replied to earlier, that name and e-mail address appears as a choice included in a pop up list of my contacts. The persons name is not in my contacts and I would like to delete it from popping up. Do you know how I can do this?

The Mail app on the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch does have an option to clear previous recipients. You can learn to live with it.  But if you want to get rid of it, the only way to remove these cached email addresses from the Mail application is restoring the iPhone/iPod Touch as a new phone/iPod.  If you restore from backup, the cache is also restored.
This article shows you the screens you will see during the restore:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

  • The operation couldn't be completed. Bad address

Until yesterday, FCP was working fine. today I get that message : The operation couldn’t be completed. Bad address
This week is my biggest post-prod week and I really have no time or patience to deal with this kind of sh***
    Here what happens...
When I try to create a new Event, I get that message. If I quit and reopen FCP, the event has been created and I can import into it
But then I get this message: Final Cut Pro cannot save changes to projects or Events.
    Quit or continue
I get the message : The operation couldn’t be completed. Bad address i
when I try to create a new project. Except that after quitting and reoppening
I don't have a projet but a folder  instead and I can't do anything with it.
I read all the forums and did everything that was suggested
    - disconnected all external HD
    - Trashed the pref files
    - Repaired disk permissions
    - made sure I only have one copy of FCP X
WHAT ELSE CAN I DO ?
    (using FCP 10.0.9)

This looks like some kind of drive or permissions issue.
If your projects are in an external drive, try checking the "Ignore ownership on this volume" box.
Select your drive in the Finder, Cmd-I to open the Get Info window, and tick the little checkbox.

  • Mail won't send if recipients include bad address?

I've been having a problem sending email on occasion, and it seems to be linked to a recipient in the recipients list (To, BCC, or CC) having a bad address. Mail won't tell me which recipient is incorrect, though. I'm trying to send out an email to a mailing list that includes a number of recipients, and it's a pain trying to determine which address is incorrect. Any way to force Mail to send the message regardless? Or maybe to find out which address it's choking on?

That doesn't help me much- I've already divided the mailing list into 9 different groups. I'm trying to minimize the amount of email going out to the recipients.
I ended up just using my ISP's web email client to send the message to each group, and then removed the addresses for the recipients that bounced.
I could have sworn that Mail had the same behavior in a previous version (letting me send to "bad" addresses). It would be nice to either have that behavior back, or at least have Mail tell me addesses it's choking on instead of telling me that a server isn't working...

  • Dot1x disable mac-address aging

    Hi, all!
I have configured dot1x on 3560 switches on my network. Switches have been configured to send MAC notification traps. I have set mac address-table aging time to 1800 sec. but only 802.1x not enabled switch send trap periodically.  It seem dot1x technilogy disable mac-address aging process.
    Can anybody explain it.

You can control mac-address learning for a VLAN by using this switchport command on a trunk.
    Router(config-if)# switchport port-security maximum 3 vlan 102
Or simply use this to allow only a certain number of mac's per access port.
    Router(config-if)# switchport port-security maximum 1
    Here is the command reference.
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122sr/cr/srir_r/ir_s4sr.htm#wp1015189
PS: you cannot totally stop mac learning as the valid values are from 1-4097 so you cant set it to zero and i believe you dont want to as well , since you have a layer2/3 environment.

  • Formula entry: clicking cell gives bad address

    Hello,
I have spreadsheet created with Numbers `09 (2.0.3). In one particular row, if I try to create a formula by entering "=", then clicking on the cells I want, I get add cell addresses:
    =Current Value 'xyz' 142:142 289:289-Cost Basis 'xyz' 142:142 289:289
    that Numbers does not recognize:
There are no cells in the intersection of the ranges "Current Value 'xyz' 142:142 289:289"
These strings are similar to the header strings (column = "Current Value", row = "xyz"), but with additional range data that makes no sense.
If I instead type the address of the cells:
    =I57-J57
It will work, but if I try to edit the formula at all, the cell addresses revert to the bad addresses described above.
If I do the same in any other row, it works properly: clicking the cell gives a colored oval containing the cell address with the header titles.
Nothing else about that row stands out as a problem.

    re:
nd, it eliminates a useful feature.
Most of us experienced users have have enough problems with the "feature" that we find it much less frustrating to uncheck the box.  It is not  a battle worth fighting IMHO.
Numbers '09 is something I use less and less.  So maybe you can address what has changed recently?  Any updates?  if so... what?  Anyone else used/modified the document?
    Can you post a screenshot?
