Disable Ballon Tipp: New Software is available

Dear all,
I have a problem with the balloon tipp "new Software available". It always comes when restaring the machine, even when there is no "new software". I just checked whether there is any application set to "Notify user" with the
deployment monitor tool - negative. I also checked all applications regarding "Display in Software, and only show notifications for computer restarts” -> all set.
I don't want to disable this whole "ballon tips" thing with an GPO, I just want to surpress this message / just like to know why it comes up every time. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot!

So, if you go into Software Center, the "Available Software" tab is completely empty?
If so, you may want to try temporarily turning off the notifications with Client Settings (not GPO) and then turning it back on.

  • Popup "New Software is available"

    Hello,
is there a way to disable the information "New Software is available" at the clients!? This is a nice feature but some users think they have to install all software which are available for them, and this information on the top of the taskbar will notice
    them at every new doployment!

Have you tried with Client Settings: Computer Agent\Show notifications for new deployments = "False".
You can also configure the User Experience\User Notifications configuration setting for the app deployment to "Display in Software Center, and only show notifications for computer restarts".
This will disable all notifications from the SCCM client, like "software is now installing" and "software is finished installing".
    Cheers, Mats

  • New software is available - DISABLE

I'm looking for some help regarding the New software is available
tray notification. I am trying to configure this notification so it is only displayed when an application is specifically deployed as
available to the client device. At the moment, the notification is also appearing when users uninstall an application that was previously installed using the Application Catalog.
Example: User upgrades to Office 2013 using the Application Catalog. User isn't happy with performance so they uninstall the application via Programs and Features and then proceed to re-install Office 2010 using the Application Catalog. Now every time they
login to their computer the New software is available tray notification is displayed
I have the following settings enabled:
Client Settings > Computer Agent > Show notifications for new deployments = YES
Applications > Example Program> Deployment Properties > User Experience > User notifications = Display in Software Center and show all notifications
In testing, I have tried disabling these options but the side effect has been no notifications at all. When users install software it no longer tells them whether or not the installation was successful.
Has anyone gone down this road before?

From memory, this has come up before and is essentially known but unchangable behavior. The best you can really do at this point is file a design change request on connect.microsoft.com.

  • New software is available for your computer?

I hope this is the right place to post this. I currently have iLife '08 and iWork '08 and I'm running Leopard 10.5.8. Every Sunday evening I get a software update request from Apple "New software is available for your computer." The update is for iLife Support version 9.0.4. In the extra comments section it says "The update is recommended for all users of iLife '09, iWork '09 and Aperture." (I do not have Aperture.) Do I need this update? (Is it for '08 too?) If I do not, how do I permanently keep this update from showing up? Right now, I just keep canceling and it reappears the following Sunday.

...how do I permanently keep this update from showing up? Right now, I just keep canceling and it reappears the following Sunday.
I don't think there's any way to prevent just this update from showing up, but you can disable Software Update announcements. In System Preferences>Software Update, you can disable notifications completely, or have them show up monthly instead of weekly. (But then you might miss something you do want, so keep checking manually.)

Because it says there are no new updates available, i cannot update my mac to newer software - as such, i then cannot update my itunes, and now cannot sink my iphone 5 to my computer
when i download sofware updates (like mountain lion, and itunes 10.7) direct to my computer, it says - cannot install as this update requires software 10.6.8.. but i cannot update to that software!
    Any help would be great..

The update is currently temporarily available on via FOTA (and not via Nokia Suite). There was a small problem with automatic user data restore with Nokia Suite after the update, which is currently being investigating. If you already updated your device with Nokia Suite, you might have to trigger the userdata restore manually from "tools->restore".

    Hi iluyimbazi
Thank you for posting and welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
Try to reinstall the software of your Nokia C2-02. Using Nokia Suite click on Tools > Software update > Reinstall.
If in case you can't reinstall the software, try doing a master reset. Go to Menu > Settings > Restore factory settings > Restore All.
Note: Create a backup first before doing any kind of reset to avoid deletion of data. If prompted for a lock code, enter 12345 unless you changed it.

    s40_uni_me:
if you update the device with Nokia Suite or take it to a Care service point for reflashing, the Social app is removed and directly replaced with new standalone Facebook & Twitter clients.
Even if you update the device via FOTA (in which case Social app stays on the phone), I would still strongly recommend downloading the standalone Facebook & Twitter clients from Nokia Store as those provide a better user experience.

  • "New software is available for your Nokia N97"

I received this sms a bit earlier today, checked on NSU and as I have become accustomed, no new updates. Why send out a text message before the software is actually available? Pretty annoying.

NSU shows nothing for my N97, but Ovi Suite 2 beta reports an update available.  Have you tried Ovi Suite/2 or even the FOTA option on your phone as most users accessing 12.0.026 in the UK are getting it through FOTA.
FOTA shows nothing for me though.

  • New Software Updates Available

The following software updates have been added to support.apple.com and Software Update:
Xerox Printer Drivers v2.1 for Mac OS X v10.6
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL912
HP Printer Drivers v.2.6 for Mac OS X v10.6
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Epson Printer Drivers v2.6 for Mac OS X v10.6
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL900

I had the same thing happen to me from the same image. It would hang running scripts at the end, using the activity monitor kextd would be eating all available CPU cycles, presumably polling for something. Over the course of trying to install it four times, I could only reboot successfully twice. The other two were cases for holding the power button down. Along the way I threw off the HP software (HP Scan, HP Setup Assistant, HP Message Center) using the HP Uninstaller, and uninstalled all my printers, all off and all disconnected. No difference.
Tried re-installing them (and HP Utility first - HPOJ 5610 with that free OCR that works on scanned images). The default driver using Apple installed drivers for an HP DeskJet 5550 wouldn't support a duplexer, I keep a PPD file with the duplexer enabled handy. Also installed my HP-5000N with no problem. All of them worked. Software Update reported the install had finished after the last time, even though I had killed every process in sight.
It might be worth searching for kext files in the dmg then searching for scripts that deal with them. There might be something obvious. If the last install hadn't worked I would have tried re-installing 2.5.2, and would have been tempted to hunt down 2.6 and exorcise it as installed software. It's a particular pain to do so manually. I might have tried software update first, I download the disk images to support other family members.
I of course wanted to update the printer drivers before the next backup, and don't manage to backup daily (or weekly betimes).
If I had to hazard a guess someone mis-parsed "assume" when writing a script. Likely a dependency on an older platform.
I found your post looking to see if my problem was unique.
