I get it but it's the same beep as the call waiting we've had on landlines for 20 years. Plus, in all my years working with and troubleshooting mobile devices I have never had anyone ask this question.
For which I will say that I didn't have call waiting on my landline when I last had one over ten years ago and I so rarely get a call from two numbers at once on my cell phone that it isn't something that I recognize. The beep also sounds like one of my other notification tones for Google reminders I think that I easily can ignore it until the end of the call.

I've gone through your message completely, if you do not have the Call Waiting option under Settings > iPhone it means your carrier does not let you access that feature on the phone. Contact them and see if they have dialing codes to turn it off and back on.

  • Possibility of disabling call waiting prior to receiving an important call?

I am aware that I can set 'do not disturb', and allow certain numbers to ring. The problem is, I am scheduled for a phone interview -- from a university. This means that a. they will call me (obv.), and b. the actual phone# the call comes from could be a different line from that of the phone being dialled, depending on their phone system's call-routing system.
In fact, what our phones need as a feature, is the ability to decide on the fly that a call is important, and turn call waiting off at the touch of a button. If I'm writing down directions to the hospital upon receiving news of a family emergency, I don't want to be interrupted, but stuff like this -- or an incoming call from a potential employer to arrange an interview -- can't be planned for ahead of time, and unnecessary increase the user's stresss level.
Any solid knowledge or creative workarounds welcome. (And yes, a land-line number is better for phone interviews. Problem is, I will be at work and doing the interview on my break.)
I have iPhone 4S; am running iOS 7.1.1, updated yesterday.

I've found that simply ignoring call waiting prevents me from being interrupted by other calls. Just because someone calls doesn't mean you have to answer it. However, your carrier may also have a two digit code you can dial to disable call waiting before making a call. For example, with Verizon, it's *70.

  • How do I disable call waiting when sending a FAX on a Photosmart C410a All-in-One?

When sending a FAX from my computer, I added *70 to the dialing prefix to disable Call Waiting.  The problem appears to be that either my C410a does not recognize the * or perhaps I must add a pause after the *70.  The user guide says to hit the up arrow to insert a pause but I think that might only work for FAXes that are dialed from the All-in-One, not the computer.  In another place in the User Guide, it instructs to hit asterisk twice ** to get a pause.  When dialing from the computer, if I hit ** I get ** not a pause.  (I use Comcast and they do not give a new dial tone after hitting *70 so I don't think the pause is necessary.)
If I remove the *70 from the dialing sequence on the computer, the FAX goes right through but a Call Waiting signal might stop the FAX.
Anyone know how to include *70 for computer dialing?

Hello LCHutton, I hope you are well
I read your post about your attempts to disable call waiting when sending a fax. I would suggest looking in the fax menu on the printer and turning off the ECM (Error Correction Mode), and also changing the Fax Speed to slow.
I hope either of those steps help you!
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see what their options are for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions: click here.

  • How do I (can I?) disable call waiting

I'm not talking about blocking call waiting when making a particular outgoing call.  I'm talking about turning it off so that it won't interupt incoming calls too.  BTW, I'd be just as happy to lose tthat feature permanently!

    Hi jlcohen,
I'm glad to see you are aware of the steps to block call waiting on a per call basis, by dialing *70 before the 10 digit number.  I would be happy to assist you with permanently removing the call waiting feature.  At your convenience, you can either call customer service by dialing *611 from your cell phone or PM me your wireless number.  I hope this information is helpful.

    Hi ziyadalsayed,
Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
The Call settings such as forwarding are maintained by your network carrier, you may be able to change this section however your network carrier can change it back to defaults.
I suggest that you contact them first to clarify if they have issues using this function on your account at the moment.
I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause,

  • Don't want Call Waiting or Voice Mail

The only features I need with my digital phone service are unlimited calling and Caller ID.  I've asked to have Voice Mail disabled because I use a traditional answering machine connected to my wireless phones.  I've asked to have Call Waiting disabled because giving the caller a ring tone when my phone is busy confuses them, and the messages are often misleading.  Right now, service says they have disabled these features, yet if my phone is called while it is in use the caller hears the ring tone ten times then gets a message that says "The number you are calling is not answering.  Please call again later."  All I want is for anyone calling me when I'm on the phone to receive the time-honored "Busy" signal.  Can anyone reassure me that their phone has these two features turned off and works this way, to give me hope that Comcast can fix the problem?

Just to close the book on this:  Apparently even Comcast has trouble turning off Call Waiting and Mailbox services.  I was told by three seperate level 1 service techs that my problem was caused by my account showing those services had not been shut off, and that they had finally fixed it.  After the fourth attempt by a level 2 tech, the problem was referred to "level 3 support", so exalted that you can't even talk to them, just wait (for up to 72 hours) for them to fix it and let you know.  Never heard a word from them, but tested it five days later and problem was fixed.  If I call myself with a cell while I'm on the phone, I immediately hear that beautiful busy tone on the cell, no confusing voice mail messages.  And also there are no "call waiting" beeps on main phone.  If I call myself with a cell while phone is not in use, my traditional answering machine picks up on fourth ring and takes a message, just like it should.     However, you can't make the test by just calling yourself on the main phone.  Comcast treats that differently.  Phone rings once, then a voice says "The mailbox number that you are trying to reach is not in service.  Goodbye."  I can live with that because it will never happen.  But Comcast is ruining an easy way for customers to check whether these features have been disabled. If Comcast were really interested in improving the "call waiting" feature they would detect that the destination phone was in use, ring a few times (no more than six) to give the called party a chance to switch over, then give the calling party a message that says "The number you are trying to reach is busy.  Please try again later. Goodbye."

  • Disabling Call Notifications

I have several phones set up in a workplace environment where all phones (508g) monitor the main line appearance. (SLA) So many calls are coming in on this number.
When the employee is on the phone, and another call come's in on the main line, a call waiting notification beeps in the handset.
This has proven to be extremely annoying for everyone conduction normal phone calls because it cuts off the conversation briefly.
I am using the GUI for all the phones, and I was wondering if there was a way I could turn the call waiting beep off on all phones.
    Thanks in advance
    -Brenden

Turning off the Call Waiting feature on the phone disables the phones ability to recieve multiple simulataneous phone calls. Definitely not something the customer wants.
I just found the answer to my own question.
If you go into the GUI>admin>advanced
    1.Select the Regional Tab
    2.Erase Call Waiting Tone field
    3. Submit All Changes
This disables the annoying beep heard in the handset when another call comes in, but still allows the second call to be seen on the phone.
I have some extremely happy customers now that I have figured this out.
    Hope this helps!

My call waiting feature does not work at all. I receive absolutely no alert when I am on the phone and have a second incoming call. My phone goes straight to voicemail for the person who is attempting to call me while I'm on the phone.

  • After installing 6.0.1 on my iPhone 4 I no longer get notification when another call comes in when I'm on another call. In phone settings I no longer have the icons for call waiting and call forwarding. My carrier is sprint

I no longer get notifications that another call is coming in when I'm on the phone. In the settings under phone I do not see any availabilty for call waiting or call forwarding. I had this feature before installing the new update 6.0.1.

Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer.  As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you.  I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.
    Best.

I have an Iphone5s and use Verizon.  Frequently when I am on a call, it sounds as if there is an incoming call but it does not show up in call waiting or in missed calls.  When I went to check on line,  the fix involved a screen that I did not even have on my phone.  Anyone else have this problem and is there a solution?  I can't seem to get tech support at Verizon.  Boo.

        Hi Debsy1,
Thanks for the additional details! Let's get this issue resolved. What software version is the device on? Please reset the Network Settings on the device. Go to settings>general>reset>reset network settings. Please Note: Audio alerts may also indicate delivery of incoming text messages or emails. The tone will vary based on the type of information being delivered to the device. Tones may also indicate low battery charge or inadequate signal strength. Keep me posted with results.

  • Upgrade to IOS 6.1 - all incoming calls come in as a call waiting call when there is no other call going on, and it won't let me actually answer the call.

I upgraded my AT&T iPhone 4 from IOS 6.0.1 to IOS 6.1 on Monday evening. It completed successfully overnight and everything looked good on Tuesday morning until I received my first call. When the phone rang, the screen showed the typical 'call waiting' screen, asking me if I wanted to 'End Call and Answer', 'Ignore Call', or 'Hold Call and Answer'. Using any of the selections still does not allow the call to be answered. It takes a hard reboot to clear the call.
If I make an outgoing call, the phone hangs on the 'End Call' portion. It shows the button being pressed and that it is ending the call, but it doesn't ever end. It also takes a hard reboot to clear the call.
So, I have tried hard reboots of the phone, without any success. Last night, I tried to reset the phone to factory settings and restored my phone content from iTunes. Unfortunately, I still was having the issue. I have also tried restoring the Network Settings, and that did not work as well.
Has anyone seen any similar behavior and have any advice?
    Thanks

A brief and probably non-helpful answer: I know of no way to eliminate your large amount of duplicates other than by repetitive, tedious manual effort.
*There has got to be a simpler way.*
I hope you're right, but I don't think there is a simpler way.
BACKUP:  It also appears that the only way I can back up the catalog is to shut down LR.  Really?!

  • Using CUIC to Show Calls Waiting on UCCX 9.0.2

    Hi,
I am about to deploy UCCX 9 for a customer, and they want to use CUIC to replace their existing wallboard.  This appears to be fine with the exception that none of the existing or available report definitions show calls waiting (as they are based on the Historical Reports Package).
Can anyone offer any advice, or share a report definition that would allow me to show this?
    Regards
    Tony

    Hi Tony
I've not played with CUIC properly myself, but basically you need to get a Lab or NFR kit for CUIC Premium; with that you can created customised reports and import those to the UCCX system.
