Disable contact merge in iOS7?

As usual, I appear to be Apple's anti-user. I want to turn off the feature that merges my contacts. I still want all of my contacts sync'd from the various contact lists, I just do not want them merged. Here is the problem: In an effort to make my life easier, Apple merges my contacts that have similarities. Since my father and I have the same name, differing by a I or a II, contacts assumes we are the same person. This causes all sorts of problems for me because contacts is always causing Siri and other apps to have the wrong data. I've tried a number of work-arounds, such as calling my father 'dad', and having no other information that associates us. And yet somehow, there always seems to be enough information for the app to link our contacts and make a mess of things. Does anyone know how I can fix this behavior without disabling sync? I just want the merge to be turned off.

Yeah, I tricked the phone today. Deleted one of the contacts and added in again, but included Jr. in the last name field. When the account did a sync, it kept then separate because the last names were different. Weird...I am finding their are such things as too many built-infeatures that are supposed to be helpful but are not. Thanks for the reply!

You cannot back up your Mac to iCloud. Even backing the whole thing up to another online service would be dubious because it would take a very long time. You should buy an external hard disk and back up to that - even better, buy two and use one to make a Time Machine backup and the other to clone your Mac from time to time, thus giving you a backup from which you can boot in an emergency.
If you wanted to back up a suitably sized selection of data to an online service there are a number of third-party methods available, some of which are examined here:

I have the same question, but I want to qualify it with a few things. First, Contacts works great, but I want to keep my business contacts and my personal contacts separate. I know you can separate them in Contacts, however, as an executive assistant I also have my bosses contacts and frankly they are a mess.
I am looking for a separate app that I use just for work. I need to link 5 accounts to this app. 2 will be from Exchange and 3 will be from Gmail. As a bonus I would be thrilled if the app could merge profiles and link to facebook, twitter, and linkedin. Any advice?

Contacts merged with device that shares the same iTunes account as me

My husband and I share the same itunes account on our phones so whenever he downloads something new it downloads on my phone as well and vice-versa.
Just recently, after iOS 6 update, we noticed that his contacts merged with my iPhone & my contacts have merged with his. Also, he is getting notifications from an app that we share... But the notifications are from MY friends on facebook. The app is called voxer and whenever someone (from my Facebook friends) sign up, my husband gets the notification. Which is really weird because im not even signed on to Facebook on his phone. Somehow my information has merged with his phone and his mine. Why is this? Is there a way I can make things back to normal? Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like you may be syncing your contacts to the same iCloud account on both phones if your contacts are merged. You can share the same iTunes account for purchasing apps and music, but to avoid merging data you sync with iCloud you need to set up separate iCloud accounts on each phone.
To do this, first decide which phone will be changing accounts. On this phone that will be changing, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone. After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The other phone will not be effected by this.) Next, set up a new iCloud account on this phone using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to this new account. At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the other person's data from your account (such as deleting your husband's contacts from your account, and vice versa). These changes will be reflected on each phone; when you're finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.

He tried to have me restore my ipad from the backup on my MAC. This resulted in an error message stating my device did not have authority to be restored. Bad mistake. You shouldn't have used your Apple ID on his phone. And you made it worse because now the contacts are gone, as you deleted them from your phone, they got deleted on iCloud. Your husband should have his Apple ID.
There is really no way of recovering the deleted contacts unless you backed up using iTunes and even then you will only be able to recover those contacts that were on a call list. Read here:

Is Apple considering the inclusion of a MS Exchange Groups functinality for iCloud Contacts in future iOS7 updates?

Is Apple considering Exchange Groups functinality for iCloud Contacts in future iOS7 updates? If not, I am considering a change to an Android or Blackberry device.
Since converting from Palm and Balckberry devices a few years ago, I have missed the full MS Exchange Contact Group functionality they had.
I have used many of the work-arounds and thrid party apps people have suggested but I find they are not convnient.
Does any else want this functionality in iOS?

That's a mystery to me because it seems to work on at least some iPads! My experience is with iOS 7 on an iPad 2 and it has the private button right down in the lower left corner of a new tab window. It shows as a little light-blue box with the word 'Private' on it. I don't know why your experience is different. Thanks for letting us know.

For the second one, I guess the answer is no, I just want double check.

Doing system-wide change is always a big challenge.
Since you know what queries are affected by the bug, why don’t you set those parameters for those queries only.

It wants you to connect it to your computer's iTunes, not to contact iTunes. If it's disabled then connect the iPod to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPod and re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPod into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808

Well my hubby and I are loving our iPhones but I have a few questions.
I already had an iTunes account for my iPod way before we had our iPhones. Because of this we both share the same account.
Well where my concerns are is our contacts. I have sync our phones using the icloud and our contacts have merged. I have even tried to use 2 seperate itunes log ins but this doesn'e seem to work.
One phone is iphone 4 other 4s
Can someone please help????

you can keep the same apple id for purchases like apps and music, but you need to create separate icloud accounts for contacts and so on. after you do this you may need to redo your contacts on each phone.
