Disable countdown when Recording Slide Audio in Captivate 5

Hey guys/gals,
I already recorded all my slides, and am now going back to record the audio for each slide.  For every slide when I try to record audio, it pops up the 3 second countdown.  This is insanely annoying - I have hundreds of slides, so this is wasting a ton of time.  I dont see any options to disable this countdown.
NOTE:  I have already read the discussion (which is incorrect BTW) saying that if you have pre-recorded your slides and add audio afterwards that the countdown wont appear - this is not true... the countdown pops up no matter what you do.
Any suggestions / work arounds?
Thanks a ton!

Hi there
Sorry, but I have no workaround to offer. I'm only posting to encourage you to report this to Adobe as a Feature Request or a Bug (depending on your view)
Link for doing that is in my sig line.

The recording slide is not picking up my speakers as an audio source as it has done in the past. Any solutions? Help!

Are you on Captivate 6.1 or 7.x?
Do you have the option for System Audio selected when you do your recordings?

  • Recording System Audio in Captivate 6

I am running Captivate 6 on Windows 7, but i don't see the option of recording System Audio during capture. Please advise ...

This option only came in with Captivate 6.1 Subscription Edition.  It's also in Cp7.  If you do not have these versions you won't see it.

  • License for MP3 when recording user audio.

I am planning a Flash app for web and mobile that can record user audio thru a microphone and then allow them to share the audio thru our website with other users of our website. This is a commercial site.
I understand that the MP3 license is part of the Flash player and that I don't need a license for embedded audio.
Where does the audio my application will be producing stand. Do I need an additional license to do this?

    Anyone? Anyone?

  • Is there a way to show/reveal the piano roll (or score) from a midi input when recording an audio track in Logic 9?

I'm trying to record audio tracks in Logic 9 over midi tracks I've created using a software instrument.  I've done this before, and there used to be a no problem in seeing the midi information in the piano roll or the score while recording audio tracks, but it now impossible to reveal.  Has ayone else exerienced this?  Was there a change (update) that eliminated that as an option?  Or did I do something in preferences somewhere (unbeknownst to me when doing it) that has caused this?  Thanks for any suggestions.

Just open the piano roll fro the regions you want and deselect the chain icon at the upper left.

  • Captivate Crashes When Recording Audio

    Hi everyone,
For some reason i cannot record any audio with captivate. As
soon as i press record (with narration) the application fatally
    crashes.
I started off my using th eUSB plantronics headset with
recording mic...... and then I tried plugging in a regular mic and
    got the same problem.
The software cannot seem to see my mic in either case. I also
    have a realtek audio card.
I really need this software to work as i have some
    presentations I must complete.

Hi Darryl Peddle and welcome to the community
Sorry to hear that. I do believe there are compatibility
issues with Captivate and the RealTek card. I've seen other posts
that are similar. So for now, your best bet is to forego the Audio,
then use a separate audio recorder to record your clips. Then bring
them into Captivate and match them up with the appropriate slides
    or objects.
You should also report this as a bug using the following

  • No control over amount of screenshots taken when recording

Hello-my coworker is working on Captivate 5.5 on a PC running on Windows XP and when recording (in Internet Explorer), Captivate takes screen shots when he is not clicking and when the computer is thinking. When I record using Captivate, I don't have that issue- mine only records mouse motions and takes screen shots when I click or force a screen shot. The problem is that all of the screen shots make for A LOT of slides that we have to go through and delete/edit, so does anyone have an idea what is happening or where we may have to change a setting? Thank you!

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
As per my understanding, if you are recording Internet Explorer (Chosen Automatic Recording), then it creates slides when Internet Explorer is thinking (Trying to load the page).
Does Internet Explorer take that same time while opening or loading the page on your computer ?
    Thanks,
    Vikram

  • Pops When Recording

I am getting intermittent static pops when recording live audio. I know that it's not clipping, because I am setting the peaks below zero and I get no warning message when the recording is done. I thought that maybe it might be my mic pre-amp/line-in (Behringer Tube Ultragain and/or Behringer Pre-Q), but the peak light on the mic-trim is at no time lighting up, so I really have no clue what the problem could be. I need some help here, please?

About 2 months ago, I was getting random clicks and pops embedded in my audio, after 2 tears with my current system working flawlessly.
I had a lot of trouble shooting to do, but eventually I came to notice that in my Lynx control panel, one of the two places where you select the clock wasn't allowing me to change it. It was "stuck" on Internal, and although I thought that was the proper setting, I found it odd that I couldn't select it, and change it.
After more digging around, I found that a new update to my Lynx driver was available, so I downloaded it, and installed it. Not only was I then able to access that parameter, but the clicks and pops went away immediately.
That's my long winded way of saying, it could be a corrupt driver, or something that isn't so obvious. Only time and experimentation will reveal what's going on.
Can you take a screen picture of one of these pops, when zoomed into the sample editor? I've gotten pretty good at recognizing digital clock spikes, so I might be able to confirm if that's what it is (or isn't).

  • Captivate 7 not showing the red frame when recording a slide

I've been using the "Record Additional Slides" button since Captivate 5, and never run into this problem: the red frame that lets you define what you want to capture is not displaying. When I try to record, Captivate captures a portion of the software window, and the desktop. How can I force the red frame to display?
    Thank you for your help!

*** By the way, it is happening when I run Captivate from my Apple computer. I just tested running Captitvate on my parallels machine, and the frame does show up.

    Hello,
Just to clarify, the problem (no red frame while recording slides) happens only on the Apple version of Captivate. It runs fine on my parallel machine, however I am running a trial version there. My license is for the Apple platform. I'm concerned because my trial period will expire soon. the weird thing is that the Captivate that I have in my machine at home does not present this behavior. Only the one in my work machine.
    The project resolution is 930px x 697px
This is the 14th module that I am developing for a training suite.I have never encountered this problem before. It all started after the Maverick's fiasco
So do  you think I should uninstall Captivate and start a brand new install? I tried changing the name of the folder but that didn't help much.
    Thank you!
    Heloisa
*****I just uninstalled and re-installed Captivate 7 7o my apple machine, but the problem persists. ;(

Garage Band,  I am using an MBOX with a digi design audio core as a mic interface to recod into Garage Band.  Now when I Change the preferences to use the MBOX I can not move the recorder slider and there is no sound going into garage band?  Any solutions

10.5.8 with latest garageband 5.1 with MBOX 1. On Nov 4.09 I did a software update, now i get no output volume or input volume to the computer itself. I get it from head phones from my mbox, but not to the computer. Before the software update It worked great. I've tried upgrading software through digidesign .com, but they dont seem to have one for what i need. any way to get my old garage band back? go from 5.1 to earlier? Or maybe it was the upgrade to 10.5.8. update? Can i go back in time lol?
    Any help would be appreciated
    BTW
Ive tried all the system sound prefs, and garage band drivers. Back and forth.

  • Record Audio in Captivate 4 for PP Slide with multiple mouse click animation

I have a power point presentation imported into  Captivate 4.  Several of the slides have custom animation that ocurr's on mouse click. What is the best way to record the audio for these slides and have the audio sync to the right portion of the slide?

I am afraid there is no direct way to solve your problem. You can identify the time at which the movie stops because of an on-click animation. At every location, insert a transparent caption (blank caption) and add audio to the caption.
Thus once the movie pauses for the user to click, audio wont appear till user click on the swf. Once he does, movie timeline will move ahead and transparent caption will appear thus playing the audio file.
Hope this helps. Do let us know if it works.

  • When recording a Video demo slide in Captivate 8, pressing the [END] key takes more than a minute to stop the recording. Why is there such a lag?

When recording a Video demo slide in Captivate 8, pressing the [END] key takes more than a minute to stop the recording. Why is there such a lag? Additionally, the software I record experiences terrible lag times. For instance, It may take 15 seconds to display a 2-digit number I typed into a blank field. the same software has no lag issues when I'm not recording it.

Yes and no. The CPTX file is on my PC. Our software that I'm making the demo of is on the network. but I'm not the "IT Guy" so I can't provide specifics; however, I work at a computer software company and we probably have more servers than employees. The network hardware is kept current. I've been making similar tutorials for 10 years and haven't run into this issue until switching to the subscription Captivate.

  • Captivate 7 saved project randomly does not play slide audio in preview project.

I created a training project with over 100 slides. Each slide has an audio track that I recorded, When I preview each slide it sounds fine. When you preview the entire project, some slides randomly do not play the audio track. Try it again and other slides randomly don't play. How can I fix this and prevent it from happening?

I concur, but do not have the device with me today, and was wondering if this is a common discrepancy. Has anyone tested Captivate output with slide audio into DPS? Does it work?
