Disable Data Connectivity of Client User

i need some help from u fellows. how can i disable the data connectivity of client users.

In oracle to make a connection every user needs a username & password, and if you lock that user accout as Eric mentioned then he/she would not be able to make connection through any program like sqlplus or ODBC. By sitting in oracle you cant prevent a user to use MS-Access but in order to import the data from oracle to Access they need the login credentials in oracle to get the data and if you block that then they cant have access to the oracle data.

  • E71 disable data connections on roaming

is there a system setting or recommended application to disable data connections in roaming?
on my other phone running android there is a switch on the menu and on top of that there is a switch app which disconnects connections and changes apn to prevent reconnecting.
I'm looking for similar solution for nokia e71... thanks!

i know about that but I do not want to be going to every application and making sure that it is configured not to use data...
I want global system setting which cuts out internet connection.
On android there is a nice program called apndroid which changes apn url temporarily and reverts back to original when you run it again.
I'm not familiar with programming on symbian but is there API access to apn settings so it could be changed by a script or software?

  • Disabling data connection to 3G and GPRS

    Hi,
I am using a Palm Treo Pro, and it automatically connects to 3G or GPRS when I try and open google map or internet explorer. I have tried switching data connection off in the comm manager, but it will connect to them automatically when I runs the applications. Is there anyway I am disble my phone from using 3G or GPRS unless I choose to?
    Thanks.
Post relates to: Treo Pro T850U (Unlocked)

opening internet explorer and accessing google maps requires data connection that's why it will always look for your network connection service such as 3G and GPRS.
however, if you want to disable them what you can use instead is wifi connections.
    try to do the following:
    Go to Start>Settings>Comm Manager
    1. Turn on Airplane mode (it will disable automatically all other connections including your data connection which is grayed out)
    2. Turn on Wi-Fi mode (it will automatically turn off airplane while retaining off state of the other connections. you will notice that data connection still stays grayed out)
    3. Press Exit
    4. Then tap ok
If you are near to your router or a hotspot, you will notice in the agenda view that your phone state is off but our wifi is on and connected to your wifi router.
you can still open and browse the web and connect to google maps.

  • Powerpivot data connection will not save the password

I'm trying to create a Powerpivot workbook with data that users can refresh themselves before analysis.  We don't have Powerpivot data refresh in Sharepoint active, so I can't make use of that service.
When I create a Powerpivot data connection to SQL server using SQL Server Authentication (unchanging read-only username and password), and checking the box to save the password, the connection works fine for refreshing the data as long as I leave the workbook
    open.
If I close the file and re-open it, the password is gone from the data connection and the user cannot refresh the data.
I've tried configuring the data connection with the SQL native client provider and the SQL OLEDB provider and I see exactly the same results.
The connection string gets built with Persist Security Info=True and the Password shows up as hidden text (dots).  It stays this way through refreshes as long as the workbook is open.  However, once I close the file and re-open it, the
connection string no longer has the Password parameter listed at all, not even as hidden text.  Persist Security Info is still there and set to True.  As might be expected, the connection string does not have the information needed to access the
    SQL Server instance.
This type of connection string using SQL Server Authentication still works fine with the password saved when used directly as an Excel data connection, or when used as a data source in Reporting Services.  It's only Powerpivot where the password gets
    blown away.
Is there a workaround for this issue?

    Thanks Jaynet.
Unfortunately, the procedure described in the link you provided does not work for PowerPivot, at least in Excel 2010.
If I create the PowerPivot data connection using "From Database/From SQL Server" there is no option to "Allow saving password".  There is only the checkbox to "Save my password".  There is an "Advanced" button that allows you to set many additional
properties of the data connection, but there is nothing like allow saving password.
If I create the PowerPivot data connection using "From Other Sources/Others (OLEDB/ODBC)" and then click the "Build" button, I get a dialog that is pretty close to the one in your link.  For the Provider tab, I can choose either the Microsoft OLE DB
Provider for SQL Server or the SQL Server Native Client 10.0.  In the connection tab I do have the "Allow saving password" checkbox.  I check this and complete the rest of the data connection configuration.  After I save the file with this data
connection and then re-open it, the data will not refresh.  If I edit the existing connection from the PowerPivot design tab, the Password parameter is completely missing from the connection string.  If I go back into the connection string builder,
there is nothing in the password field (not even dots) and allow saving password is no longer checked.
I've even tried creating my own connection string in Notepad and pasting it into the connection string box (definitely including Persist Security Info=True).  This does not work either and PowerPivot erases the entire Password parameter just the same
as if I had used the builder and checked Allow saving password.
I'm beginning to think that the previous poster, David Hager, has it right.  This may be a bug introduced with the latest version of PowerPivot.  If there is no workaround, it is a total pain for me.

  • Disable/Hide Data connection error pop ups in InfoPath 2010

    Hi All ,
I am trying to hide/Disable Error Messages Shown by data connection error. I do not want user to see the error , rather I would check through rules and query the Data source again.
Is this scenario possible at all.
For ex: I have a data connection to user profile server , if it gives and error on form load , I do not want to see the error popup instead i will query the data connection again.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nandini

    Hello,
what would you expect to change between the first call to the data connection and the second call?
How would you "check through rules"?
I don't think the error message can be suppressed. If you don't want to query the data connection on form load, untick the box in the data connection settings.
    cheers, teylyn

  • FTP client Default Data Connection Ports

I'm developing a simple FTP client from the socket level. The only documents I am referring are J2SDK API and RFC 959. For the control connection I am ok, but for the data connection is not. According to the RFC 959 : "The user-process default data port is the same as the control connection port". The control connection port is used by my FTP command connection while connected to the FTP server, so how can I "listen" to the same port before I send the "RETR" command to the server ?
Pls give me a hint , Thanks
    Samuel

The way I read it is that the client opens the control connection by connecting to the server control port (usually 21) from a random port. The client also listens on its own port 21. The server will eventually establish a connection from a random port to the client port 21. I may be wrong though. The best way, IMHO, to proceed, is to use a network monitor such as TCPDUMP or WINDUMP and see what other FTP clients/servers do. I also know for a fact that there are open source FTP clients and servers, even in Java.

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode
iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
    iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
         1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end
of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
         2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the
red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake
              and Home buttons.
         3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device.
The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device
charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then
             start with step 2 again.
         4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
         5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
         6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

Now before anyone points out the obvious: my username and password are correct. I've already gone through changing them so I know they are.
Additionally, I've pretty much tried EVERYTHING I've read online, from messing with "terminal" (and subsequently the FTP and STFP options) to changing the sharing options and turning on file sharing/remote management as well as just turning off my Firewall completely.
Now I've used Filezilla before when I first published my site and everything worked fine. My site is published through Wordpress so most of my editing was done through simply logging into my "wp-login." I recently changed the theme and in order to change the header image in that theme I have to do it through my "wp-content" folder, which means I need to use Filezilla. I feel like a complete moron right now considering I've had my site for about a year and can't even doing something this simple.
I've read that the newer version of Lion/Mountain Lion don't support automatice FTP anymore, which (as I mentioned prior) I attempted to fix through Terminal. However, nothing I do seem to do works.
Can someone walk me through fixing this? And I do mean 'walk me through'. I'm not a tech-savvy nerd who knows all the lingo, I just know the basics so sorry if my ignorance offends you.
    HELP!!

First be sure login and password are OK. Sometimes the address starts wit "http://..." and sometime starts with "ftp://...". Try both normal FTP access and Scure FTP access (SFTP). At the end, contact the site's provider.

  • FTP Client can not make a Data connection in Extened Passive Mode

When i send the command "EPSV" to the FTP server , it reply with the message :
229 Entering Extened Passive Mode (|||60238|)
It seems the Server accept Extended Passive Mode.
But then i send the LIST command to the server , after a few seconds i got an exception :
    java.Net.ConnectException : Connection timed out : connect
In my Java Program, after sending the "EPSV" command to the server and receiving the port number, my program then initiate a data connection by calling : Socket dataConnection = new Socket(serverHost, serverPort) , serverHost is the host of the FTP server, and serverPort is the port that the server send me.
I think the problem here is that the initiate of data connection is failed. But i dont know why.
Can anyone explain for me ? I really appreciate.

You may be a newbie, but at least your questions are intelligent.
Abstracting the network part - yes, this can be done, but you should keep in mind that the VI will still be running on the remote target, so you should not use this to plug directly into your RT code. In these cases, a communication module is very good because it decouples the undeterministic comm from the RT code. You can do this either using a protocol, as you mentioned, or by calling the VIs running on the cFP. For example, a VI could be used as a repository by having an uninitialized shift register which maintains its value between runs (this is known as a LV2-style global) - the cFP app will write values into it and the PC app will read values from it.
To do this, you open a reference to the application running on the cFP and then you call VIs dynamically by name. By using the Call by Reference Node you can call the VI and use its connectory pane. All the primitives you need are in the Application Control palette and you should be able to find some examples in the example finder (Help>>Find Examples) by searching for "dynamic" and other similar terms. Attached is a simpified example.
To transfer data in a real-time target, I believe your best bet would be RT FIFOs.
To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here, here, here, here, here and here are a few you can start with and here are some tutorial videos. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).
You should also follow the online communities (this one, the LAVA forums, Info LabVIEW).

  • Data connection abroad with roaming disabled

    Hi to all,
I live in Italy and recently I stayed for 10 days abroad (Greece) for the Christmas holidays.
As always I put the ROAMING switch in the OFF position but my operator (TIM) charged me with connection costs deriving from data connection.
They told me that even if the data roaming is disabled some apps can still connect to the Internet (email app, background synchronization, and so on, ...)
    Is it possibile?
    Thank you,

    Hello,
We have a SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Multi Tenant deployment. Our customers Site Collection Administrators can not create external content types in SharePoint Designer 2013.
When clicking on "External Content Types" in the menu they are getting the message "The Business Data Connectivity Metadata Store is currently unavailable." but users are still able to click on "External Content Type" in the "New"
section of the ribbon. However, when doing that the are getting throwed another error message: "The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized."
When logged in as the Active Directory Administrator via SharePoint Designer on one of the Site Collections everything works as it should.
It seems that there is some permissions missing but I can not figure out how to set this properly for the site users. I have tried to add users as administrators at both the Managed Metadata Store Applications and the Business Data Connectivity Application
with no result. I have also added the users with permissions on the Managed Metadata Store via the Tenant Administration panel for each site.
I would need this to work, and when it works I need to set the required permissions programatically via Powershell when provisioning sites and users.

  • How to find Unity Connection 8.6 users whose AD account is disabled

I have a Unity Connection 8.6 server that is integrated with AD. My main issue going forward is the user maintenance. If a user is disabled in AD, the user's LDAP integration status changes from "Integrate with LDAP Directory" to "Do Not Integrate with LDAP Directory". I understand this is default behavior when the server syncs with AD just as it does on CUCM. When administering thousands of accounts, there are going to be times that I'm not notified of someone leaving the company (more often than not). I need a way to search for these users in the server as most, if not all users are LDAP synced with mailbox. I have tried exporting the users with mailbox and I can't find any difference between an active and inactive AD user.
    Any suggestions?
    Brian

    Hi Brian,
If you use BAT in Unity Connection and export users with mailboxes, when Connection is integrated directly with AD, the LdapCcmUserId field will be present with their AD username, when it's disabled, the field will be blank.
