Disable Discoverer Plus workbook wizard popup

Hi,
Does anyone know how to disable the workbook wizard from popping up when you first connect to Discoverer Plus?
Regards,
Gladys

Hi Gladys
Well different tools do it different ways. I have to agree, as I said in another posting, that BO's user interface is nicer than Discoverer's. That said though, Discoverer's out and out querying capabilities are superb and, in my opinion, superior to BO's.
To be honest, for running workbooks, Plus is simply the wrong tool for comparison with BO. Viewer is the tool for that and it does list the worksheets alongside the current workbook. Plus was designed as a development tool, Viewer as the end user tool.
Hope this helps

  • Discoverer Plus workbook editing window size

    Is there a way to make all (or at least a few) workbook editing windows open as full screen (or larger than the default) ???
    Each time I edit something in a workbook, I have to resize all the windows I open and it's kind of annoying.
    Thanks
    Michael
    PS : I'm using Plus 10g release 1

    Well, I hate to say it, but you may have run across a bug in your version of Discoverer Plus. I am on 10.1.2.54.25 and the word wrap works just fine when printing a worksheet out of Discoverer Plus in that version. I even retested it just now just to verify, and it printed just fine, and the way you would want it to print. So my suggestion is that you log a service request for this issue with support and see what they say. Good luck.

    I'm having issues with a new workbok I created and can't quite figure out how to fix it. I have columns with the Format Heading\Wrap words in cell set on. The columns wrap fine and display as expected in the Discoverer Plus workbook window, but they don't wrap on printing to pdf or a physical printer. They display in the upper left of the column and run to the right until they get cut-off by the next column on the right.
    For instance:
    Preprocessing
    Lead Time
    shows as
    Preprocessing Lea|<next column>

  • Formating URL for Discoverer plus returns an error

    Hello I have been playing around with formatting the URL. In Viewer this is working great with have created one click extracts to excel. However when I try to just create a link to discoverer plus to startup the connections page also pops up. We would like just the discoverer plus app to popup not the connections page. This is with 9.0.4 version. I have tried adding the following
    plus_popup=Fales&framedisplaystyle=embedded
    option on the end but when I do although the connections page no longer shows up I get an error on startup. The error states there is a runtime error has occured. Line 0 Error:'Window.opener.connListPage' is null or not an object' The msgbox asked if I want to debug or not. If I choose no then plus opens fine. My string looks like below. Does anyone know what I am missing?
    http://domainname:7778/discoverer/plus?cn=cf_a110&nlsl=en-us&release=true&_plus=true&plusp_FrameDisplayStyle=embedded

    I doesn't happen on mine, but I'm now on SP3. It might help if you upgrade - even if you don't want to go to SP3 yet, your OWA version appears not to be at rollup 2 level. I only mention this because if it is a problem specific to version 14.2.247.5 (which
    could easily be the case, because MS change the OWA scripts with surprising frequency) , it's going to be hard finding people who can reproduce the problem.
    But to answer the question in the last sentence, searching the GAL and searching Contacts is, in a technical sense, very different. The GAL search is done with an LDAP query against Active Directory, whereas Contacts are usually going to be mailbox items,
    plus a few AD contact items.

  • How to open a defult workbook from Discoverer Plus

    Hi all,
    Is it possible in Discoverer Plus for a user to open a pre defined worksheet in a workbook when he logs in without having to select the workbook and then select the worksheet?
    Please advise how to achive this.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you all.
    Yjk

    Hi Yjk
    This is possible but you will have to alter the URL call to do it and add the workbook name to the end of the URL.
    You can use either the names of workbooks and worksheet or unique IDs of workbooks and worksheets. Using unique IDs is easier and helps avoid encoding problems with long names. Unique IDs are language independent. The following are the URL parameters to use while working with workbooks and worksheets.
    Discoverer Plus Relational:
    Workbooks:
    opendbid=<workbook ID>
    opendbname=<workbook name>
    Worksheets:
    sheetid=<worksheet ID>
    sheet=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer Viewer:
    Workbook:
    wbk=<workbook ID>
    wb=<workbook name>
    Worksheet:
    wsk=<worksheet ID>
    ws=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer OLAP:
    Workbooks:
    workbookname=<workbookname>
    Worksheets:
    sheet=<worksheet name>
    Note: Discoverer Plus OLAP uses only workbook and worksheet names.
    Examples below:
    How to Find the Unique IDs of Workbooks and Worksheets
    To find the unique ID of a workbook, use thie workflow:
    1. Launch the Open Workbook from Database wizard
    2. Right-click the workbook name
    3. Select Properties.
    The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the workbook.
    Alternatively, when the workbook is open, select File | Workbook Properties.
    To find the unique ID of a worksheet, use this workflow:
    1. With the worksheet open, select Edit | Worksheet Properties
    2. The Worksheet Properties dialog box opens.
    3. Click the General tab.
    The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the worksheet.
    The following URL starts Discoverer Viewer and opens a worksheet with the unique ID "156", which is present in the workbook whose unique ID is "MONTHLY_SALES". The connection ID used is "cf_a101".
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/viewer?cn=cf_a101&wbk=MONTHLY_SALES&wsk=156
    If the connection that is used here is a private connection, the user will be prompted for the password.
    In Plus, the same command is:
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?cn=cf_a101&opendbname=MONTHLY_SALES&sheet=156
    Does this help?

  • Discoverer Plus Java popup

    Using Discoverer Plus, see that blue popup on the Open workbook box that shows details of the workbook your mouse is over? The problem is that sometimes that box stays put and does not go away when the mouse is moved or the workbook is opened and closed. The box even stays on the screen when Discoverer is closed but Internet Explorer still has a window open. I have to close IE to get the little box to disappear.
    This only happens when I've left the mouse over the Open workbook box for more than a second. If I move quickly the popup will appear for a second and disappear.
    Does anybody have a solution for this? I'm a system admin and this problem is annoying my users.
    Discoverer Plus 10.1.2.55.26
    Java Version 6 Update 24
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike
    If you cannot prevent the users from upgrading their Java then you are prone to experiencing more and more issues as the Java versions become further and further apart. If you end up using a Java version that is uncertified you could have all sorts of trouble.
    So why can you not revert back? If this is the reason for your problems surely this ought to be raised and discussed with management and not just have someone dictate that it cannot be done?
    Best wishes

  • Export workbooks in discoverer plus

    hi
    I am not able to export discoverer workbook as .dis from discoverer plus.
    how to do this
    Should I follow only command prompt?
    From discoverer admin i am able to export a workbook as .eex ..But i wonder how to import this workbook.eex into discverer desktop ?
    thanks
    kp

    Hi,
    .dis format is specific to Discoverer Desktop . This saves the workbook on the windows pc where Discoverer Desktop is running. Discoverer Plus does not have the option to save workbook on local system.
    .eex format is specific to Discoverer Admin and it contains metadata info including BAs,Workbook etc.
    In order to import .eex files you have to use Discoverer Admin . It can not be imported using Discoverer Desktop.
    Thanks,

  • Discoverer Portal -- Workbooks via Plus

    Cna workbooks be run via Discoverer Plus (instead of Viewer) in Discoverer Portal ??
    If so, how ??

    Yes, you can. Go to:
    http://yourserver.yourdomain/discoverer/plus
    You can register discoverer portlet provider and use discoverer gauges, instead of viewer and plus.... See if you have Discoverer Plus properly installed and discoverer plus service started, in your OAS administration (Application Server Control):
    http://yourhost.yourdomain:18101
    (This is for OAS 10gR2, not sure where you should look for in previous releases...)
    Click in your middle tier installation and you'll be able to see if you have discoverer services started (plus, viewer and portlet provider).

  • Scheduled Workbook Results Are Not Available On Discoverer Plus

    My environment:
    OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.2)
    Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.54.25)
    Discoverer Model - 10.1.2.54.25
    Discoverer Server - 10.1.2.54.25
    End User Layer - 5.1.1.0.0.0
    End User Layer Library - 10.1.2.54.25
    Platform Linux x86-64
    Hi All,
    I have been working through issues we have been having with our scheduling and I have noticed that we have the exact problem identified on Metalink note 457148.1. It advocates applying some patches:
    1.     Apply the Application Server 10g 10.1.2.2 patchset 2 Patch 4960210 plus the latest Discoverer cumulative patch per Note 237607.1 'ALERT: Required and Recommended Patch Levels For All Discoverer Versions'
    2.     This is also included in Application Server 10g 10.1.2.3 patchset 3 Patch 5983622.
    **** Non-patch Workaround ****
    Disable the Query Prediction: Edit pref.txt on the middle-tier server and set QPPEnable=0 and Execute the applypreferences script (.sh or .bat)
    My question: Has anyone done this workaround? We do not have a test box to test this before we make the change and we just went live with EBS R12 in April and I really do not need the additional excitement of trying to back-out of a failed patching.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hi patrick,
    Here you are using 10.1.2.2.But i do suggest you to upgrade to 10.1.2.3 version because it handles most of the issues.
    You can go through it in michael's post.Here is the link

  • Discoverer Plus 10.1.2.55.26 Error loading 2nd, 3rd, workbooks

    When loading Discoverer Plus, the 1st workbook always runs but sometimes the 2nd workbook and every one after that gets errors and will not load. I am administrator for a large group of Discoverer users on our database across the USA and a lot of users are experiencing these errors.
    What happens is that the errors always happen in a certain sequence. The first error is always starting with "Unexpected...", the second error always starts with "Missing eventSupportConnect ...", and the third one is "An internal server error has occurred. ...." or sometimes "Contact with the Discoverer Server has been lost. ...", or other users have seen "OutOfMemory error occurred." Or sometimes "model.xml.PropertyDriver: ...".
    Here is the text of the first error we see:
    Unexpected java.lang.RuntimeException: Unexpected java.lang.IllegalStateException: missing eventSupportConnect on: oracle.disco.model.corbaserver.WorksheetinfoImpl@ ........
    Here is the text of the second error we see:
    missing eventSupportConnect on: oracle.disco.model.corbaserver.WorksheetInfoImpl@ ........
    When we log out and back on again, sometimes the errors do not occur for that session and sometimes they still do.
    This only happens with Discoverer Plus which uses Java, never Discoverer Viewer or Discoverer Desktop.
    We previously had Java 6 Update 22 and experienced the errors. When our comptuers were upgraded to Java 6 Update 24, the errors seemed to get better (went away completely for me) for over a week and I thought that had stopped the problem. But last week some of my users saw errors and today I saw the errors. I checked and my computer is still at Java 6 Update 24.
    If anybody had experienced this before and solved it, please let me know.
    Thank you for your time,
    Mike J.

    Michael,
    Our server guy confirms that Version 6 Update 24 is what we have on the servers. He has been trying to solve this issue for two months with no real success. I just logged into Discoverer and did not see the errors. It's not every time a user logs in, but it's often enough to be quite a bit of trouble.
    Another issue that I see before me (literally on my screen) is when the dialogue box is up to open an existing workbook and the little blue text boxes, sometimes called "hints", pops up with the name of the workbook and it's owner, if the mouse pointer is not moved right away then that little blue box stays on the screen in that spot and does not move or erase. It will stay there until you exit Discoverer and exit from all Internet Explorer windows. When I minimize all windows, the blue text box is still in that spot on the screen now on my windows background.
    This blue box error has bugged some of my users but at least a user can move the screen around it. The other error is more serious because it keeps a user from getting their reports.
    Thanks for your help,
    Mike

  • Strange Problems with Discoverer Plus 10g

    Hello All -
    I'm working an exercise to bring an application online which uses Discoverer Plus 10g as its client. This application is located in an area that I don't have access to, so the symptoms I'll describe have been reported to me by users.
    1) When users log into Discoverer Plus and it launches, it does so with the iconic menu buttons (located below the pull-down menus) disabled and grayed-out. The users are forced to do all operations using the pull-down menus. This is a problem that is consistent across different PCs.
    2) When users do File....Save As.... the "Save Workbook to Database" window opens and the user is unable to modify the filename in the "New name" text field. If the user toggles the "View:" setting at the top of the window, they can then change the filename. This problem has only been reported by 2 users, but it's happening for them consistently.
    3) When a user creates a new report using File....New... the Workbook Wizard opens and all is normal until the "Workbook Wizard - Step 2 of 5: Select Items" page appears. On the items tab, the user activates the pull-down list to select the business area they want to use, and the business area name disappears when the users mouses-over it. So the user must click on the blank business area name to continue. This is a problem that is consistent across different PCs.
    A number of the users' PCs have two Java versions installed on them like this:
    Platform     Product
    1.4     1.5.0_14
    1.5     1.4.2_16
    I had them make sure that 1.5.0_14 is the only one enabled, but that did not remedy any of the above problems.
    At this point I don't know what to try next.
    All help is greatly appreciated.
    Patrick

    Try the 1.4.2_06 java version
    I suggest you remove other java version and stay with just one.
    I do not remember but from some point the java version will use the higher there is and java 1.5 from my experience
    is not working with the discoverer so well.

    If i click Finish on the Table layout screen immediately after selecting the items it generates the worksheet
    what could be the reason for me unable to generate the worksheet.

    can anybody help me.
    Thanks

    Hi
    But Desktop is not the product that you reported the error on, you said that Plus was giving you the problem.
    Desktop generally has far fewer issues that Plus because it is a client-based tool and I would expect it to work fine in Desktop.
    Have you ever had 9.0.2 Plus working as you describe or have you recently installed it? Either way, I strongly recommend upgrading your Discoverer Plus to the version in my previous reply.
    By the way, I think you will find that most people rapidly got off 9.0.2 as soon as 9.0.4 came out which was 10g Release 1. If you look on my blog: http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/ you will see a couple of surveys that were conducted earlier this year. The top one indicates that only 4% of Discoverer sites are using 9.0.2. Of those I would suggest most will be on the 54 release which really was quite stable.
    You will fnd it really hard to get help if you stay on the 39 release because there are so few folks around who have it installed.
    Best wishes

  • Discoverer plus login problem

    hai,
    i getting error while login to discoverer plus 10.1.2.0.2
    is " Error
    Unable to open a new browser window. Ensure that you do not have popup windows disabled for this site."
    if i worked with discoverer viewer, it working fine
    where is the problem, please let me know it.

    It appears Java pop-up window could not be opened, You could try
    1. You can uncheck the 'Turn on Pop-up Blocker' under Privacy tab in IE
    2. Turn off the Google/Yahoo pop-up blocker if you have these plug-ins
    3. Also, ensure you can download ActiveX Control signed and unsigned with prompting enabled
    4. After entering the user/name password, press Control Key down then click the login button
