Disable download a copy option for pdf files in SharePoint 2013

Hi,
We need to disable Download A Copy option of Document library for few users of our site.
We have provided them View Only rights which disables download for other files except PDF files.
Kindly suggest

Hi Nirikshita,
As the “Download A Copy” button was available when the users(View Only permission) clicked a PDF file, you can try to hide the “Download A Copy” option based on user permissions.

  • Disable IRM for PDF files in SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
Do anyone know how to disable PDF protection in SharePoint 2013. Earlier version they did not have it OOTB, so users were using same library to upload office documents and pdf as well expecting that only office docs are protected. But now PDF protection
    is enable by default.
Please let me know if anyone know how to disable IRM from PDF docs only and keeping other Office docs protected as it.
    Thanks,

I had the same issue, as my customer was not prepared to implement IRM on PDF documents, and there seems to be only a third-party solution PDF viewer which supports AD RMS. I was surprised to find this enabled by default, but it can be removed. Delete
the key below from the registry, and then run 'iisreset' from an elevated command prompt.

I can't get duplex print option for pdf files using  Adobe ReaderXI 11.0.04, Mac 10.8.5 with HP Officejet Pro 8600.  HP says it's an Adobe problem. I'm stuck.

It depends where the pdf is located. If in the Finder or in an attachment to
an email in Entourage, the message is ³You can¹t open the application
³Acrobat Reader 5.0² because PowerPC applications are no longer supported².
If an attachment in an email that has come via Safari, the message is
³Safari can¹t open the file because no available applications can open it².
In each case the menu bar is Finder or Entourage or Safari as the case may
    be.

  • How do I disable "open with google docs" for pdf files?

When I click on a pdf file link, I don't want Google Docs reader to open it because it does not support pdf fill-in forms. I do not know how to disable this in Firefox.

    See https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Opening+PDF+files+within+Firefox
You can use the method shown to change it to use Adobe Reader, Acrobat or another PDF viewer.

  • Safari did not offer an open in option for PDF file

I went to Safari and went to a web based PDF file and selected the icon that brought up the list of options that did not include open in. Do I need to do something to get Safari to include that in the list?
    Thank you.

  • Saving a PDF file in Sharepoint 2013

Basically, the PDF files will not allow my reviewers to add a post it note comment and save it automatically back to Sharepoint. Instead it is causing them to add the comment, resave on their desktop and reupload the file. In other words it creates
    too many steps. :)

The first thing to ask is what version of Acrobat are you using?  And with which browser.  If it's Acrobat 9 and earlier (I think, the community will correct me if I'm in error) than they're not on very good talking terms.

  • Generate PDF file in SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
I have a requirement to create .pdf file while one item is submitted to list/library in SharePoint 2013.
It means when employee inputs his/her data and after submit one pdf file will generated with the summary/relevant data.
Can any one help me to figure out this scenario.
Is it possible with SharePoint out of box feature?
    Please help if any solution.
    Thank You

you can not achieve this out of box, custom development with integration of 3rd party controls is required to generate pdf files. There are paid components available but i will suggest you to use iTextSharp which is a free open source library to generate
    pdf files.
You can refer below link to generate pdf on basis of your requirement.

  • Print to Adobe pdf does not give option for .pdf file

I recently installed Acrobat X Pro.  I have a 10-page pdf document open in Acrobat.  I want to eliminate the first page and save the other 9 in another file. In previous versions, I would select Print and then select the printer "Adobe PDF".  When I do this now, the Save As File Type gives me only one choice - All Files *.* - which is useless.  If I am in any other application the Save As File Type comes up .pdf. I don't think it is the installation, because I installed this on my desktop and laptop and it is doing the same thing in both of them.  The operating system for both computers is Windows 7 64-bit.  What can I do to fix this?  Is it just a matter of changing a setting that I am not aware of?  Thank you in advance to anyone who will help.

For Acrobat X I went to Tools - Pages - and the delete choice was grayed out.  I thought I could get the same result by using the Print to Adobe PDF command.  From any other application I can print to Adobe PDF, just not in Acrobat.  Does Acrobat X not let you do this, or is it just on mine?  And if it is only on mine, what do I do to fix it?  By the way, I am able to delete pages from other documents, just not the particular document I am currently working with.
    Any other suggestions anyone?

  • How to Hide or Grey Out " Download a copy " option from share point online .

    Hello ,
I want to stop share point users who have editing option for the files in libraries to download a copy to their local PCs.So that users have to login to sharepoint and do edit the files with in sharepoint and not to download a files from there  to local
Desktop .Majorly sharepoint has to act as a shieldso that users cannot download files form sharepoint but can do online editing

    There are 3 option:
    1. You can use IRM to disable Download a copy option
    2. Edit core.js .

  • PDF download worked in FFox3 but not in 4. Do I have to wait for a new plug in for PDF files?

I was downloading monthly statements from mutual fund firms. Firefox 4.0 worked fine with the T Rowe Price web site (they must not do anything tricky), but does not work with Fidelity. Firefox doesn't seem to recognize that what Fidelity is offering is really a PDF file. I tested the same action with my same computer and Safari as the browser which worked fine, and I tested the same action with my same computer and Firefox 3.6.16 and it, too, worked fine. Your help screen for PDF files suggest I download "Firefox PDF plugin extension" but when I get there, it says a version for FFox 4 is not available. I probably have that added to my 3.6.16 version and that's why it works there. So I guess I just have to use a different browser until that plugin is available. But it is another puzzle why TRowePrice makes it work with 4.0 and Fidelity doesn't.
Do you have a better suggestion than "just wait" ?

I have never herd of Verizon adding an additional account especially since new account required both a credit check and your signature. Anyway this is a customer to customer forum so I'm not sure how you expect other customers to help you.

Trying to download Adobe Acrobat 11 for PDFs. Am asked where to download to. Every folder I recommend is rejected. Any advice

Ivan please choose the default location of your User directory to download the install files.  Once the software is downloaded you can then install to your Program Files/Applications folder depending on your operating system.

  • [GNOME], [Firefox] (still) defaults to GIMP for PDF files

I've installed Arch Linux with GNOME twice this past year, on both i686 and x86-64 systems. Both times, I've installed GNOME with it's default PDF reader, Evince, as well as GIMP for image editing (of course). Firefox, regardless of my preferences in Nautilus, only gives me the option of opening PDF files in GIMP (as opposed to saving them). If I save the file and open it from the downloads window, it opens in GIMP, but if I download it and then open it directly in Nautilus, then it opens in Evince without any problems. Of course, I could work around this and simply add /usr/bin/evince to the list of programs for PDF files, but I would have to do this for every single user that I add before Firefox is reasonably usable for downloading PDFs.
There was a thread on this a while ago, but it's closed now so I can't add to it. This is still a problem in 2011 and before I report this as a bug anywhere, we'd have to figure out the exact cause of the problem: is it GNOME, GIMP, Firefox, or something else entirely that causes this? How could I fix this so I don't have to use a messy workaround?
Oh, also, after installing GIMP, it's treated as the default application for PDF files regardless of GNOME's default preferences. Evince is listed but GIMP "hijacks" it in a sense. This is fixable in Nautilus easily, but it shouldn't have to be a necessary step.

ngoonee wrote:mimeopen would solve the problem. The issue is that firefox just defaults to using xdg-specifications, and gnome isn't really very good about setting that (uses its own gnome-open instead of xdg-open after all).
I never knew that about GNOME. Mimeopen did fix the problem for me. Thanks very much!

I dont know if this is what your talking about but..
In firefox go to edit>preferences> applications tab (you can choose which app opens what filetypes)
I mentioned that I tried this and it works fine, but I don't want to have to do that workaround on every single account I make. The workaround suggested, as I said, works well enough.
So if I understand this correctly, this is a Firefox bug?
