Disable editing Attributes in My Profile

Hie,
does anybody know how to disable the possibility for the end user to change LDAP attributes if the Self Management is turned on?
I enabled "Self Management" in "My Profile" so the User can change everything the ume is allowed to.
I just want the enduser to change its email, but no other attributes. An administrator in the ume should be able to change everything.

Most people don't allow LDAP write access from the portal. Instead they make use of the underlying LDAP user interfaces or write their own.

Disable editing of part of table

Hello,
i need to disable editing on some rows in table. Also i need to change style of some rows, is it possible in webdynpro (some sample code?) or i have to use PDK?

Let us assume your attribute CHAR1 name is Flag. So:
1. Right under the node with attribute Flag create sub-node with cardinality 1..1, singleton=flase, name it UISettings
2. In this sub-node create boolean attribute EditorEnabled
3. Mark EditorEnabled attribute readOnly=true, calculated=true
4. Switch to source editor, and write the following for method getUISettingsEditorEnabled:
return "X".equalsIgnoreCase(element.getParentElement().getAttribute("Flag");
5. Bind "enabled" properties of cell renderers to EditorEnabled attribute.
Make sure to rename "Flag" in code to actuall property name from BAPI!

How to disable one section in my profile

Is there any option to disable Total Questions from my profile,
I try to edit in my control panel, I didnt find such option here.
Can you share with me how to disable this option from my profile? (or) If admins has only such permissions then, Please disable it.

Actually the settings will be controlled by BASIS team
It is not suggested to keep the VKOA settings in EDITABLE mode, which will impact a lot if something goes wrong.
Ask your BASIS team to disable, if chages required do it through DEV - QAS - PROD

I found these Actions in Identity-Managements, where I can do settings for a virtual Provider.
     jms.default          topic.all.all
     jms.default          temp.topic.all.all
     jms.default          administration.all.all
     jms.default          queue.all.all
     jms.default          temp.queue.all.all
So I will create a new Virtual Provider "myProvider" assing my JMS-Queue to this provider and play around with the parameter settings "jms.myProvider" and assign these actions to a test user.
Furthermore I found these actions in Identy Management. I think in the first step I won't change anything at these parameters.

     jms_provider          temp.topic.all.all
     jms_provider          administration.all.all
     jms_provider          queue.all.all

Editable Attributes?

Hi there,
I am having some difficulty using dreamweaver's editable attributes for my template-based pages. I've followed dreamweaver's help instructions but I keep getting error messages and I don't want to screw up my layout.
I simply want the locked region of my side nav to custom size along with the vertically growing editable region of the body area of my page. I have about 30 pages based off of this template. Are editable attributes the best way to go about this?

As Nancy mentioned, without seeing the code, or at least a preview of the page, hard to tell - please post a link for more help....
It sounds as though you have a sidenav region that has either a background image or color that you would like to expand vertically down the page as the content area expands? How is your page built?
If, for instance the side nav is placed in a table with a fixed height, and the content is in a separate table, try building a single table with two columns (or more columns depending on your needs) - then set the left column to the width and color attributes you have now, and it will expand in height along with the varying content of the right column.
As for the template, you can still lock the left cell within the template, and make the right cell your editable section just as you have now even thought it is part of one complete table. This will also work with css divs - depending upon how your pages are constructed... (in fact css is the preferred method, I used tables just as one example...)
Hope that is of some help - please post a link if this confuses more than helps...

B) At "Moving a profile", it is not clear the difference between that and "Restoring to a different location". Please split the two cases, so that each one is complete unto itself. Write separate instruction sets (there is no advantage to economy of words, in a webpage like this.)
B.a) Explain first how to find the file "profiles.ini", by using the Windows Explorer window.
B.b) Recommend that the user first make a backup copy of that file "profiles.ini", in case the work does not succeed, so that the messed-up file can be replaced with the original.
B.c) In the descriptors of "Moving a profile", for the actions to be taken, it is not clear whether each step is... at the location of the backup, or... at the location for the desired new installation. Especially uncertain for Step 3 and Step 4.
B.d) In Step 5, give a better explanation for the path options: - relative or non-relative. How does the user know if the path option has been switched?

You spoke to my first item - "digits".
But my BIG problem is the second one. -- "Moving a profile".
I cannot understand the instructions. (*)
The reason, is that it tries to cover TWO CASES/SITUATIONS , jumbled into ONE instruction set.
My request to Mozilla, is to split those instructions into TWO (or more) distinct and separate instruction sets, but with each set dealing ONLY with one case.
Write one set for "Moving a profile".
Write one set for "Restoring to a different location".
This way, the user does not have to try to interpret the "if"-descriptors, while in the middle of trying to accomplish the task at hand.
Doing as I ask, makes for more words, and a longer page. But there is no cost for length of a page, and a great advantage to the user, since the steps to be followed for each case are distinct and are not ambiguous. Do not have any "If-this" detours in the sequence of operations.
(*) PS: I am not dumb on programming. I have been writing code since 1966, and have taught programming in several other nations.
(**) PPS: I still have not been able to move ("replicate") my old profile and message files, from the external backup copy, into the new, clean machine, so that I may continue corresponding from where I left off, when the motherboard crashed.

Problem with Nested Templates, and Editable Attributes

Hi all, I've run into the following problem. I have a
template called A. I created a nested template B from A. I made an
attribute editable to B, in A. The problem I am having is that I
would like that attribute still editable in a page derived from the
template B. As it is right now, the attribute is frozen, and can
only be editted by children of template A.
Is there a solution to my problem out there?

With Reader... you can't. You'd need Acrobat or CreatePDF to restrict editing.

ADF DI : Need to disable edit on a column in excel spread sheet

I have enabled worksheet protection, with only the Column i need to be
made read only. Accodring to the ADF DI Dev guide, "The end user can insert a
full row or column. However, once inserted, they cannot be deleted.". But
even full row insert shows up disabled. Its not allowing me to insert a new row at all.

Actually if you are looking to disable the "Edit" option so end users cannot change or modify the existing Logon Pad options systems, you can.
What version are you using for SAP GUI?
7.10 has icons to the right which allow changes. (New, edit, etc)
7.20 has icons across the toolbar at the top. (pencil, paper, trashcan)
For both versions, Navigate to C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui (Default location)
In there you will find 2 executeables:
saplgpad.exe
saplogon.exe
If you run the saplogon.exe it will allow edit, delete and modify
If you run the saplgpad.exe:
On the 7.10 version the buttons are gone.
On the 7.20 version, the buttons are grayed out.

First of all you need to copy the Application default view to customer view and make changes there ,that way application default layout will not be disturbed.
Get the PCUI CookBook and read that to understand it better.
Follow the given steps:
1. Go to transaction CRMC_BLUEPRINT_C
2. Under Application Layout-> View create a new 'Z' View for ex: ZACC
3. Launch the Customizing tool by clicking on Define Layout of the People-centric UI (Customizing tool)
4.Load CRMM_ACCOUNT and copy the default blank view to customer view by clicking on 2nd icon next to view dropdown list.
5. It might take couple of minutes ,once it is done save it,system will create a transport request for it.
6. Now go to CRMC_BLUEPRINT_C,and click on Application Element->Tab Page group->Tab page group structure
7. Enter ACC_03 ,there you see list of tabs available
8.Click on Marketing Attributes Tab and change value of Inactive property to 'Flag Set Even has occured'
9. Save it and launch the application with blview=ZACC attached fto the URL for example http://hostname.com:port/sap/bc/bsp/sap/crm_bsp_frame/entrypoint.do?appl=CRMM_ACCOUNT&blview=ZACC

CS4 Template Editing Attribute Problem

I've got a site with templates and nested templates. I was able to figure out how to make an attribute editable for the photo on the page. But I would also like to change the color of the navigation text for that particular page. (basically to show via color that the user is on that page)
so I've got a class which is just for the color, named bluecolor. I highlight the text on the template, choose class to make editable. I create the page and when i modify the editable attribute to bluecolor, nothing changes.
I'm suspecting it is because the css styles for the nav text is controlled by a # style as opposed to a .style class. I've also added a:link, a:visited, a:hover, and a:active to these text navs too.
I remember reading somewhere that a #style will always override a .style.
So how can I make the nav text for that particular page a different color? Please help...
to be more clear, I have these for the css styles

Well, #style will not necessarily override .style. I've never heard that.
What you really want to be looking at is descendant selectors.
If you give the <body> tag for each page editable attributes, you can name each page differently, for instance body#homepage, body#contactpage, body#purplepage, and so forth.
Say you have a particular element that you want to be different on each of those pages. let's call it <div id="area51">.
Here's some CSS you could apply:
#area51 {
width: 150px;
background-color: white;
border: solid 1px red;
So on every page, that is what you would get for your div#area51.
Unless you also did this:
#homepage #area51 {
background-color: yellow;
#contactpage #area51 {
border-color: green;
#purplepage #area51 {
background-color: lavendar;
border-style: dashed;
Notice that I have only changed the properties that I wanted to be different from the original style for #area51.
In a more specific way, you can use this in conjunction with your menubar styles, especially handy if you are using templates.
Make sure every menu list item, at least at the top level, has a unique ID (li#home, li#contact, li#purple, to use earlier examples) Those should be in the Template, so that they are controlling throughout the site.
Although you can use any color indication you want, I prefer to use the same coloration that occurs when a menu item is hovered over.
So find that selector in the stylesheet, and add descendant selectors for those menu items, to wit:
body#contactpage li#contact a:hover, body#homepage li#home a:hover, body#purplepage li#purple a:hover {background-color: yellow; color: red;}
This is an extreme color choice, but to read it in English:
"On the page whose <body> tag has an id of contactpage, for the <li> whose id is contact, when the anchor is hovered over, make the background-color of the a yellow, and the text-color red"
That focuses specifically on contact on the contactpage, so highlighting it when that page is open.

After a UPSA connection edit, all my user profiles are "missing from import"

I've got a problem with my User Profile Service Application. I edited my existing connection to add some new OU containers to the list, after the networks team had done some
restructuring to reflect an organizational change. Then I ran a Full Synchronization. But now all of my user profiles show up under the "Missing from Import" list. I still have 943 profiles in SharePoint, and not surprisingly, people search isn't
working. I suspect that I did something wrong in the process of selecting the Users OU containers in the AD tree (in Populate Containers), but I cannot see what, since I replicated the selections that had been made for an unchanged department, to
the ones that had been reorganized.
Any help appreciated.

According to your description, my understanding is that all the user profiles are showing up under "Profiles missing from import" list after you edited the existing User Profile Synchronization
Connection.
For your issue, it can be caused by that your User Profile Synchronization Connection is unable to connect to your AD. Please make sure the account used to connect to Active Directory to import
profiles has access to the Organizational Unit you are importing from. By default this account is the Default Content Access account. And the Default Content Access account must be a domain user account and it must have read access to external or secure
content sources that you want to crawl by using this account.
Then you need to check if the “Profile Synchronization” job status is “succeed”.
Also please check the “Sync filter” for the service, and make sure the account are not include in the Exclusion Filter for Users.
For a workaround, you can just delete the existing connection , recreate it and perform a full synchronization.
