Disable effects panel in Photoshop Elements 10

I would like to have only the layers, adjustments and undo panels showing. However, the effects panel keeps coming back. Is there any way to lock the full edit panel?

Launch the Editor by right clicking and choosing “Run As Administrator”
Make the changes under the Window menu and then close the program.
Next time you launch the changes should stick.

  • How do you open the clone panel in Photoshop Elements 12, it isn't shown in the windows list

I am trying to access the clone panel in Photoshop Elements 12. The tutorials I have seen show a drop down list from the windows button, however on my drop down list there is no clone panel.
I guess my question is does PE12 have a clone panel and if so how do I access it?

I've never heard of a "clone panel" but the clone stamp is in the Enhance section on the right side, below the Healing Brush. If you see the pattern stamp there instead, just click the clone stamp in the tool options at the bottom of the window.

  • Where is the ( curve ) option in the adjustment panel ,in photoshop elements 9

where is the ( curve ) option in the adjustment panel ,in photoshop element 9 , I cant seem to find the curve option ...

Irritatingly, it doesn't exist. You need to go to Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Color Curves for the PSE version of curves. You can add an adjustment layer with something like elements+ from simplephotoshop.com or grant's tools (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51319), but it will still be limited to the combined RGB channel. If you use windows there's also the free easy filter smartcurve plug-in:

    Bonjour,
    D'avance merci.

That looks like you copied some obsolete versions of those plugins into the CS4 plugins folder.
That or you ran a utility that stripped part of the binary data (PPC or x86) from the plugins.

  • How to display Tools panel in Photoshop Elements Organizer?

When I open Photosfop elements 11 Organizer the Tools panel is not displayed.  Please help me,I can find no help in Adobe Help

No Brian.  Normally when I open Organizer there is as vertical list of tools on the left side of the screen.  Tonight that list of tools is not present.  I want to add a caption in Organizer. Usually on the tools panel (long list of buttons on left of screen)  there is T tool and I click that and drag the rectangle to a desired part of the photo and type the caption.  Very simple if the Tools Panel is present.
    Hope you can help

  • FAQ: Why is Photoshop Elements cheaper? What's different about Photoshop?

    What is Photoshop CS/CC (PSCS/PSCC)?
Photoshop is a professional tool used throughout many industries as the standard for digital image manipulation and painting. It has very rich, and often complex, tools and options. As such, it comes with a professional price tag.
    What is Photoshop Elements (PSE)?
Photosohp Elements is a consumer product. It's made for users who don't need as many features and complex options. It has a simpler design, guided workflows, and an organizer to help you manage your files.
What are the some of the specific differences?
Here is a list of some of the major differences between Photoshop Elements and Photoshop:
Adobe Camera Raw differences between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements
Photoshop Elements comes with a database driven Digital Asset Management application called Elements Organizer. Photoshop comes with Bridge, a file navigation system that operates much like Windows Explorer or Macintosh Finder. While there are several functions that both Organizer and Bridge use, they are fundamentally different applications and serve different purposes.
Photoshop Elements does not support the following color modes: Duotone, CMYK, Lab, Multichannel
There is very little 16-bit support in Photshop Elements. You cannot create or convert an image to 16-bit, only open images that are already 16-bit. While working with a 16-bit image you cannot work with layers. The following tools do not work: Magic Wand, Selection Brush, the family of Type tools, Recompose, Cookie Cutter, Straighten, the brush based tools (Paint Brush, Eraser, Dodge, Blur, etc), or the shape based tools (Rectangle, Ellipse, Custom Shape, etc). Many filters do not work, mainly those featured in the Filter Gallery.
Photoshop Elements does not fully support Smart Objects. While you can open files that already have Smart Object layers, you cannot create Smart Objects nor open the files embedded as Smart Objects.
Photoshop Elements does not have a Channels panel. Nor does it have the Channel Mixer Adjustment/Enhancement.
Photoshop Elements cannot merge multiple/bracketed photo exposures into an HDR image. There is no support for 32-bit images. However, Photoshop Elements does offer Photomerge Exposure as a similar function.
Photoshop Elements does not use the same range of Content-Aware functions. While the Spot Healing Brush includes the Content-Aware option in both applications, Photoshop Elements does not have Conent-Aware as an option in the Edit > Fill Layer command (known simply as Edit > Fill in Photoshop). However, Photoshop Elements does use a Content-Aware Fill option when creating a Photomerge Panorama, this is not an option in Photoshop. Photoshop CS6 introduced the Content-Aware Extend and Move tools, which are not available in Photoshop Elements.
Photoshop Elements has fewer vector based tools. The Pen family of tools are not available. The Shape tools do create a vector shape layer, but the vector points cannot be edited individually. There is no Paths panel.
The licence from a boxed purchase of Photoshop Elements is multi-platform (as of version 9). This means you can install on either Windows or Macintosh or both without having to purchase a separate version. This was not true with Photoshop. However, with Creative Cloud we no longer sell boxed products and all licenses are multi-platform.
Photoshop Elements does not have the Subtract or Divide blending modes that were introduced in Photoshop CS5.
Photoshop and Photoshop Elements can both Transform selected pixels in the following ways: Scale, Rotate, Skew, Distort, and Perspective. Photoshop Elements does not have the Warp Transform option.
The Photoshop Elements Color Picker does not include the following options available in Photoshop's Color Picker: the Not a web-safe color alert icon, the Add to Swatches and Color Libraries buttons, and the Lab and CMYK models.
Photoshop Extended CS6 has the following panels that Photoshop Elements 11 does not: 3D*, Brush, Brush Presets, Channels, Character, Character Styles, Clone Source, Color, Layer Comps, Measurement Log*, Notes, Paragraph, Paragraph Styles, Paths, Properties, Styles, Timeline, and Tool Presets.
Photoshop Elements does not support Extensions such as Mini Bridge and Kuler.
*In some release versions of Photoshop, there Standard and Extended variants. Marked features are only available in Photoshop Extended, where applicable.
[EDITORS NOTE: This is a work in progress, this list is not yet comprehensive]

I found 3 crashes under your name.  2 of them are uncommon, but occur in the ExtensisFontManagement plugin and appear to be due to a bug in the plugin.  The first is a crash on quit, and the second is Extensis attempting to override Alerts for some odd reason, and their override fails.
The third crash cause happens more frequently, cause unknown, but it looks very, very similar to the Extensis Alert override bug.
So, try disabling the ExtensisFontManagement plugin, and I suspect your Photoshop CS4 experience will be a lot happier.

  • Help:  adobe photoshop elements 9 has stopped working  (piece of poo)

This was installed at Christmas for my daughter's use.  I just tried to run it as I now have a camera that will shoot in RAW format.
Now it just crashes when starting the editor.  I can see the editor start, see the brush/effects pallete on the top right (with the green ?apples?), but then windows throws the above error.
    The Organizer will run however.
    Environment:
    Windows Vista 32 bit
    C:\Programs Files   (on SSD)
    D:\Users  (SATA)
    PSE 9.0.3 (20110328.m.11320)
I have tried to run the ctrl-alt-shift and when the editor starts, and delete the preferences file.  This hasn't solved the problem.
I have tried to launch the editor directly from the run command:  photoshopelementseditor
What else is left?  Standard operating proceedure for  every other Windows Application:  reinstall?
Thanks for any advise or direction!

Tried to reinstall.  Turns out the folder C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Photo Creations\adjustment layers was set via VISTA to be owned by SYSTEM and couldn't be change ownered or permissions set to be able to write.    Had to boot in Safe Mode with the Vista security controls disabled, delete the entire Photoshop Elements folder, and it would install after that.
    D@#$ Windows.

  • Photoshop Elements 5.0 menu lockup (also 3.0)

Photoshop is gradualy becoming useless to me. I'll be editing a photo then the dropdown menus stop functioning. When the cursor is passed over them, they flicker a little but don't do anything. That's what's happening now. Months ago the problem was that all the menus would stop functioning and the cursor icon would remain at whatever I was doing last. This happened with 3.0 also and is the reason I switched to 5.0. I have to save my work continuously. I see no pattern as to when it is about to happen.
I realize that because this is happening with 2 versions of PE that the cure wil probably have something to do with other software, but it is also a defficiency with Photoshop because no othe software has this problem. I think it is also happening in my laptop but iI don't use PE there often enough to be sure.
I have reloaded Photoshop several times, including erasing it totally, so that solution can be crossed out. I saw a similar post in another forum but there were no follow ups.

Antiviruses normally interfere with Photoshop Elements. Do you have any anti-virus installed?
Try disabling it, or adding Photoshop Elements as an exception.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 as external editor

For years, I've used iPhoto. And although I usually edit in iPhoto, sometimes I edit in an external editor, Adobe Photoshop Elements. It's always been easy - rightclick, "edit in external editor", Photoshop Elements opens and the photo is loaded automatically.
Well, since I upgraded to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE12), when I choose to edit in an external editor, PSE12 opens but my photo doesn't load.
Not a huge deal, but it takes extra time and searching and is, honestly, a little annoying.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Other than the previous versions of Elements, Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 installs the editor directly at the top-level of the Applications folder, so there are no longer any nested folders to select the editor application from.
But there is a weird glitch, when I try to use it as an external editor in iPhoto.
When I select a photo in iPhoto 9.5.1 and ctrl-click it and use the command "Edit in External Editor" from that panel, Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 opens with an empty window, like you reported.
This does not work: Elements launches on an empty window.
But when I use the "Edit" button in the footer of the iPhoto window and double click it, Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 will open with the photo in the Editor window.
    This does work:
So, for the time being, use the Edit button to launch your external editor, if you are also using iPhoto 9.5.1 with Mavericks 10.9.4.

  • How can I download Photoshop Elements 11

An error message appears, encountered an error while installing shared technologies. I have tried to download a dozen times. Please Help.

    Hi rxwings12
Error: Shared Technologies have failed to install
The installation of Photoshop Elements or Adobe Premiere Elements may fail with one of the following errors:
"The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop Elements could be installed. Below mentioned application has failed to install: Shared Technologies."
"The Adobe Premiere Elements installation wizard was interrupted while installing Shared Technologies."
"The installation process has encountered an error while installing Shared Technologies."
These errors indicate that one or more of the following Shared Technologies failed to install:
    Adobe Player for Embedding
    Adobe Help
    Camera Raw plug-in
    Camera Raw profiles
(Photoshop Elements 9 and later only) Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS5
(Photoshop Elements 9 and later only) Adobe XMP Panels CS5
(Photoshop Elements 9 and later only) Microsoft Visual Studio runtimes
To resolve these issues, use the Adobe Support Advisor (ASA) to analyze the installation log file. For instructions, see Analyze install logs with Adobe Support Advisor (ASA).
Note: If you are using a downloaded installer, or running the installation from the hard drive, the Shared Technologies can fail because of the installation path. Copy the installation files to a folder to the root of the drive, such as C:\PSE<versionnumber>Installer\, and rerun the installation.
If the ASA tool is unable to provide you with a solution, see the "Analyze the Main Installation Log manually" section in Troubleshoot install using logs | Premiere Elements, Photoshop Elements.

  • Custom File Info Panels in PS Elements?

I've created quite a few custom panels for CS, but the question was recently put to me as to whether it was possible to incorporate a previously built custom panel into Photoshop Elements. Anybody know for sure? Unfortunately don't have a copy of Elements on hand to test this out.

Those panels are specific to Bridge, Photoshop and other Adobe suite apps. Sadly, they don't exist in LR. Instead, use the Metadata panel.
LR's keywords are stored inside the LR catalogue - there is no "keyword catalog for Lightroom" concept. You can import a list of keywords using the Metadata > Import Keywords command. This list will be a txt file which you can prepare in any text editor or in Excel. To see the format, add a few keywords in Lightroom, and create a txt file using the Metadata > Export Keywords command. Then just edit this file, or copy its format - eg indenting child keywords.
Fr now, if you are asking questions like these, I would recommend sticking to one tool, a single Lightroom catalogue, for entering your metadata. Until you find your feet, using more than one tool will only make work for yourself and will result in inconsistencies. Also, treat yourself to a copy of Peter Krogh's DAM Book (his forum is good for metadata workflow issues).

  • Premiere Elements 12 Effects-Panel not working

    Hi there!
I've recently updated to Elements 12 (from 10) and I am more or less happy, but since today, I can't use the effects-panel anymore. When I click any effect, the options won't pop up (see attached screenshot).
Does anyone know what to do?
I'm running the latest version of OS X and Premiere Elements.
    All the best!

It seems that you have made some progress. Please compare the first screenshot, apparently before uninstall/restall. Note that all you get for Color is Hue. Whereas, in the second screenshot, apparently after uninstall/reinstall, you now have Color with Hue, Lightness, Saturation, and Vibrance.
And, your screenshot of fx Effects/Generate/Lens Flare shows just one effect which what is to be expected. There is only one choice there. Are you saying that you cannot apply that effect to your clip?
    Baseline questions.
Premiere Elements 12. Have you switched from 12 to the 12.1 Update via the program's Help Menu/Updates? If not, please do so.
Are you working in the Expert workspace or Quick workspace of the program? The answer to that might cut down on the expectations.
The Quick workspace has less choices under Adjust than the Expert. Compare

It is well known the Premiere Elements Mac does not have all the effects of Premiere Elements Windows, but I do not think this is a Mac Windows matter. But, SG is a Mac user and can confirm that possible aspect of the matter.
This is what I am suggesting
After updating from 12 to 12.1
    1. Delete the Premiere Elements 12 Mac Settings File.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/preference-file-locations-photoshop-elements. html
    or
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/kb/troubleshoot-damaged-projects-premiere-element s.html  (Section numbered 3).
SG can give us some guidance on this if you have problems doing this.
    2. If that does work, then I would suggest deactivation (Sign Out) of the program, followed by uninstall, ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner), reinstall.

By the way, do you have QuickTime installed on your computer; running program Run As Adminstrator and from User Account with Administrative Privileges? Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
How long did you work with Premiere Elements 12 before you saw this problem...the very start, never worked or it worked for a while but then did not work?
We will be watching for further details.
    Thank you.

  • No Filters, Styles, Effects in Photoshop Elements 11

I purchased Elements a while ago, but just realized that Filters, Styles and Effects are empty : (
    I'm using Mac (OSX 10.8.3)
    Please, help!

Adobe doesn't provide support for the current version much, either.
You need to delete mediaDatabase.db3. Quit the editor, then go to your hard drive>library>application support>adobe>Photoshop Elements>11.0>Locale>en_US (or your location) and delete it. Then relaunch the editor but don't do anything till ilt's through rebuilding those panels.
(Note that this doesn't pertain to the mac app store version.)
