Disable EWS

Hello
we are working on Exchange 2010. Now we decide to disable Mac outlook thus EWS. I did some google and found this post :http://blogs.technet.com/b/matabra/archive/2012/08/23/block-mobile-apps-that-use-exchange-web-services.aspx
It's useful, when i set to single user (set-casmailbox -id  XXXXXX -EWSEnabled: $true -EWSAllowMacOutlook:$False)
But, when i disable it for whole organization, it did't work . (command line:
Set-OrganizationConfig -EWSEnabled: $true -EWSAllowMacOutlook:$False) Test user could still receive email via mac outlook.
Any idea? thanks
Go Patriots

Sorry, I thought when you did this
"when i set to single user (set-casmailbox -id  XXXXXX -EWSEnabled: $true -EWSAllowMacOutlook:$False)"
you were talking about the test user that could still use mac outlook.
If you do
Get-CasMailbox testuser | fl
and scroll down, do you see anything next to EwsAllowMacOutlook ?

  • Disabling Exchange Web Services

A recent penetration test report indicated that accessing /EWS is a vulnerability.  I know that /EWS indicates access to Exchange Web Services.
    My Question basically is:
    1) Is this really a vulnerability?  From what I see here, this does not really sound much like a vulnerability
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dd877045%28v=exchg.140%29.aspx, it mostly shows details that I could already access using my credentials on Outlook Web Access.
    2) Assuming it is really a vulnerability, how do I go by disabling it.

I would ask have who conducted the test explain why this is a vulnerability. If you disable EWS, you essentially render Exchange useless so I would not do that.

  • 7520 All in one web services not working

I got notified of a new update for the 7520. When I tried to install it, the screen said it was successful but then said "updating....do not turn power off" and it freezes and the update never gets successfully installed and I have no web services. I tried reiinstalling the whole software package, restarted the printer multiple times and the router too and can't seem to find an answer.  Anyone know what to do next?

    bjg1,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
Assuming you can get to the point where you can get the software installed, you might be able to get Web Services back using the following workaround.
    Suggested Workaround:
On the printer, Disable the web services -- that is, remove web services from the printer.
This may then allow you to then "Enable Web Services".
There is a consequence to this action:  Your previously selected ePrint custom address will no longer be valid and cannot be reused.  When you go back and log into your HP Connected account you may need to not only "add device" to re-add the printer to the device list of ePrint printers, you will have to select a new custom email address for that printer.
Where / how is this done?
Side Bar: The Disable Web services is usually done on the printer, although if the service is actually working, one can switch off EWS from EWS.
Disable EWS on the printer, wait a few seconds, and then Enable the service again.
Switching off EWS does not "break" your HP Connected account, although it does put a crimp in your printer's ePrint setup.  You can still log into the HP Connected account where the printer and the ePrint account is managed.    After EWS is disabled / enabled, you must log into your HP Connected account.
If you do not find your printer listed under the Devices tab, you can usually "add device" and add your printer right back into the list at this point.
If you do find your printer, but it won't cooperate, it won't update, you cannot "do" anything with it, go ahead and remove it.
If you have to "remove the printer", then Log out of  HP Connected.
If you have to "remove the printer", then Walk around your house / office / back yard -- come back.
Log into HP Connected and use "Add device" to add your printer.
Update the ePrint email address to something new - add a number, think of something new and clever; it does not matter as long as the name is different.
    Click the Kudos Thumbs-Up!
It is a nice way to say “Thank You" for the help.
Although I strive to reflect HP's best practices, I do not work for HP.
    Kind Regards,
    Dragon-Fur

  • Exchange 2010 - EWS and disabling TLS 1.0

    Hi all,
Due to the POODLE vulnerability and TLS 1.0 showing as enabled on one of our external scans, we were informed that we would need to disable SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 on our Exchange server.
Apparently, this wouldn't even be possible until Update Rollup 9 was released on 3/16/15:
    Rollup resolves:
KB 3029667 SMTP is not transported over TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2 protocol in an Exchange Server 2010 environment
After installing this update, SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 were disabled and the servers rebooted (cross site, same domain, two Exchange servers).  After resolving some issues with certificates that apparently broke as a result of the changes, we found
that EWS was not working - the log full of these errors:
Process 5776: ProxyWebRequest CrossSite from S-1-5-21-3895483984-2032760896-3917300074-1259 to
https://mail.exchange.com:443/ews/exchange.asmx failed. Caller SIDs: NetworkCredentials. The exception returned is Microsoft.Exchange.InfoWorker.Common.Availability.ProxyWebRequestProcessingException:
System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
The EWS directory in IIS on both servers are set to use Anonymous and Windows Authentication.  The main issues observed outside of the above errors was that free/busy information could not be viewed.
After rebuilding the EWS virtual directory and a couple reboots later, we tried enabling TLS 1.0 on both servers, rebooted, and there were no more EWS errors to be found - free/busy was also working.
So it appears that although this rollup allows SMTP to use TLS 1.1 or 1.2, EWS is still attempting to use TLS 1.0, and I don't see that it is possible to change this

You need to include the To and From properties in the property set your using in the Bind statement change
    var response = _ExchangeService.BindToItems(newMails,
    new PropertySet(BasePropertySet.IdOnly, ItemSchema.DateTimeReceived,
    ItemSchema.UniqueBody, ItemSchema.Subject,
    ItemSchema.DisplayTo, ItemSchema.InternetMessageHeaders,
    ItemSchema.Body, EmailMessageSchema.ToRecipients, EmailMessageSchema.From));
Exchange will only return the properties that you ask it to.
    Cheers
    Glen

  • HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Embedded Web Server (EWS) Does Not Respond

My new (as of 3/14/2014) 7520 is connected (wirelessly) to an all-Apple wireless network. with four computers (and, at times, two iPhones) sharing that network.
While I can print to the 7520 and also scan from it, I cannot access the 7520's Embedded Web Server, no matter what I try.
I have located the 7520's IP address on its display and entered it into the Safari web browser's address field as 192.168.1.7 (with the usual http colon slash slash prefix, of course).    When I hit return, the browser's progress bar appears and then stalls.  After 30 seconds, the progress bar disappears and nothing else happens.
While trying to find what might be causing this problem, I have also…
    • disabled the network's (and my computers') firewalls,
    • used the 7520's Bonjour address,
    • tried both addresses using Safari on …
         - a MacBook running OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard),
         - a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7 (Lion),
         - a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion),
         - a Mac mini running OSX 10.9 (Mavericks), and
         - an iPhone 4 running iOS 7.1
         - an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1
    • made sure I was using the latest version of the printer driver software and HP Utility, and
    • used the HP Utility to attempt to access EWS,
…all without success -- that is, on the laptops, nothing is displayed.  On the iPhones, Safari reports that it "could not open the page because the server stopped responding."
Furthermore, although I can turn on and connect to the 7520's Direct Wireless wi-fi channel with my laptops and iPhones, typing the address for the EWS (specified in the printed Network report as http://192/168.223.1) in the browser and pressing Enter again yields the same result.
I had all these problems with a 7520 I bought from a local computer store.  I contacted HP Tech support by chat, spent 4 hours walking through resets and other tests with them, and they decided to send me a new 7520.  I have sent back the first 7520, installed the new one, and the problems persist with the replacement 7520!
What do you think might be wrong here?  Do you have any advise or trouble-shooting guidance?

Okay… I did as you advised — as best as I could, that is… the link you posted yielded a page marked "HP was unable to find the page you wanted."
In any case, I changed the DHCP range to 192.168.1.100 thru 150.
Using the following procedure, I believe I set the 7520 to the static address 192.168.1.10 (using the 7520's control panel, from the home screen)…
      • Tapped the radio (wireless) icon, second from the left on the top bar of the screen.
      • Tapped "Settings" button, lower-left screen.
      • Tapped "Advanced Settings" bar (second fom bottom).
      • Tapped "IP Address" bar (at top).
      • Entered "192.168.001.010" in the IP address field.
      • Pressed the home button icon to the upper left of the display.
      • Tapped the wireless icon in the top bar again and confirmed that the IP address had been changed to … .10
    With that done, I tried
         http://192.168.1.10/
in the browser of a couple of my computers (OS X Lion MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion MacBook Pro).
    Still no joy.
In case you don't alread know, Airport base stations can be set to reserve specific IP addresses for static IP devices or services.  I reserve an IP address for testing database and OS X servers on my network (for clients).  You can reserve as many such IP addresses as you like in the "Network" tab of a base station (using Airport Utility) as shown here…
Based on your advice, I have reserved the … .10 address, as you can see.  Hope this is useful to you.

  • Can't access EWS and front printer panel options all locked

The web services icon and Network icons are disabled. All the options on the front panel to connect to the network are locked so I can't do anything from the printer panel.
I printed the Network configuration and obtained the ip address but the EWS does not come up. It says it can't connect.
I tried the ip address that i previously used to connect with and that won't come up either.
How do i get the printer connected to the Network again? HELP!

    Thanks for the response.
I tried unplugging the plug but that did not reset the printer.
I found another post that explained how to access a hidden Suppot menu.
I was able to find the option that performs a partial reset and that restored all the functionality
    to connect to the network.
The printer is on the network and I can now access the EWS. I also modified the admin settings
to not lock the printer panel again!

  • Outlook 2013 - Exchange 2013 - Prompts for username and password when EWS basic authentication is enabled

So we have an Exchange 2013 environment, and a CRM solution that requires basic authentication to EWS internally.  Problem is, after a reboot of our Exchange server, all of our Outlook clients begin prompting for username and password (which nothing
works) which also starts locking users AD accounts out due to failed login attempts (somehow).  If I disabled basic authentication on EWS, Outlook authenticates as normal using NTLM and there are no issues.  Once Outlook has authenticated, I can
turn back on basic authentication, and Outlook will be fine until the next time the Exchange server is rebooted.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that Outlook client prompted for username and password when Exchange server restart and basic authentication is enabled for EWS.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
It’s normal. This caused by the difference between basic authentication and NTML authentication:
Basic, with any version of Outlook prior to 2010, results in a pop up dialog asking for creds. Outlook 2010 makes the 'save this password' actually work, so in an Outlook 2010 or later world, Basic can mean no need to authenticate every time you open/reconnect,
but in all earlier versions, you will have to enter creds every time.
NTLM, when used by a client that is domain joined and logged in with cached creds, results in the client simply sending the cached in creds to the server, resulting in what looks like a pretty seamless single sign on experience. However, if you want to do pre-authentication
at something like TMG, and not let the traffic go all the way to CAS, you need to configure TMG for this.
    Thanks

  • The EWS URL wasn't found in the EXPR settings of the Autodiscover XML response.

    Hi Guys,
    I have posted this on
Spiceworks Fourm as well as I have run into some urgency on this issue. I know its not fair to post twice but I really need help on this one.
I am busy troubleshooting an issue for one of my customers and was wondering if anyone has come across this issue before.
One External Service Provider utilizes Autodiscover to pull EWS information in their app. There is no way we can change that to directly input EWS information. The issue I am getting is on Microsoft's Remote Connectivity Analyzer. I am testing EWS
functionality and its failing with this response:
The Exchange Web Services URL wasn't found in the EXPR settings of the Autodiscover XML response.
    HTTP Response Headers:

    X-Powered-By: ASP.NET

If I test this internally using Test-OutlookWebServices cmdlet i have all successes. If I Test Email Auto-Configuration, i get the EXPR information with the EWS URl's internally and externally. I believe there is an issue somewhere along the lines however I'm
not sure when to continue from here. I have run Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName ********** and also tried it again with $null.
See the post of my email test (XML Response attached on this URL): Spiceworks URL
All other services on ExRCA works perfectly except for EWS Autodiscover.
If anyone out there has seen this before as i cannot find any documentation on this specific issue.
This one is rather confusing as it usually is external works but internal fails. Certificates have been assigned correctly.
Your prompt response would be highly appreciative!
The Environment is Exchange 2013 CU6 with IU for the DB & ActiveSync issues as this environment is in the process of being migrated from 2007 SP3 RU10

IIS shows no errors, I get a 200 response in the logs nothing further. I found that SSLOffloading was enabled, I disabled that as it isnt necessary as the load balancers are not performing SSL Acceleration. I have also recreated the AutoDiscoverVirtualDirectories.
I have bypassed the Load Balancers to eliminate the issue of possibly they causing the issue. I also recreated the OutlookProvider EXPR
If i do a test Email Auto-Configuration, I get a full XML response out of Autodiscover:

  • EWS limits

    Hi,
I have a question regarding the EWS rate limits. I know about the throttling policy from exchange, but reading the new "Unified Messaging Guide 10.x" it now also has "Paged View Functionality"
The "Paged View Functionality" is for Exchange 2013 and higher, but for Exchange 2010 RU4 and later on page 2-33 there is a note saying: "If you have the paged view functionality disabled, configure EWS limits using the following steps"
What does that mean? I have Exchange 2010, if I enable the "Paged View Functionality" for my CUC 10.5, I don't have to create EWS ThrottlingPolicy?
    Thanks
    JH

    Hello,
I did this yesterday. You only need one account. The tricky thing is that the authentication needs to be the same for both Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010. We are using 2003 and 2007 at the moment and what I am finding is that the 2003 server is set up for HTTP auth and the 2007 cluster is set for HTTPS. We tried changing 2003 to use HTTPS instead but I can't get Unity Connection to link up with it that way. So the way we ended up setting it up was 2 Unified Messaging services in Unity Connection. Both use the same account and are set to search for Exchange servers. Both are using the same AD service account. The only difference is that one of the services is set for HTTP auth (for Exchange 2003) and the other is set for HTTPS (for Exchange 2007). Unfortunately, this means if we migrate small groups of users to Exchange 2007, we need to manually change them to the Unified Messaging service with HTTPS auth. If we were able to do all the users in one shot, it would be as easy as just changing that option in the Unified Messaging service they are already assigned to. I tried to see if we could use bulk edit to make the change but the Unified Messaging option is greyed out...
    HTH and good luck!

  • Repeated 401 error on EWS for Hybrid

    Hi,
I've been in touch with MS Support but haven't got anywhere, so I thought I'd try a wider knowledge base.
I'm trying to configure a hybrid between Exchange Online and Exchange 2010. I've configured on premise servers but am failing when trying to create the migration endpoint in Exchange Online. Autodiscover and OWA are working correctly both internally and
externally. When I try to access either https://internalurl/EWS/Exchange.asmx or the external version I'm getting 401 error.
I have compared the output from "get-webservicesvirtualdirectory |fl" with my working test lab and it all looks okay, including Authentication Methods Ntlm, WindowsIntegrated, WSSecurity.
I have noticed that in IIS > EWS > Authentication that Forms Authentication is enabled which it isn't on my test lab. If I disable this I get Resource cannot not be found 404 error.
For the Migration Endpoint, I'm getting error MRSProxy cannot be found on the server. But this is True on the "get-webservicesvirtualdirectory |fl" command.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Typical. After 3 days troubleshooting, I post online then find the answer an hour later!
For anyone else who comes across this, I found the answer in two parts in IIS:
EWS Virtual Directory > Authentication >Ensure only Anonymous and Windows Authentication are enabled (I had Basic and Forms enabled)
Application Pools on the server > MSExchangeServicesAppPool was running under ApplicationPoolID Identity. Right click and choose Advanced Settings > Change Identity to LocalSystem.
    Restart IIS > Bingo!

  • Using EWS on Office 365 ends in 'ErrorTooManyObjectsOpened'

    Hello,
we have a problem with our sync-tool which is using the EWS to sync appointments between our calender and the exchange calender. One "service" account is in use to access the calender of users which will be synchronized and this is not done
via impersonation. This works fine on the most customer setups, regardless if it is a local exchange system or a Office 365 account.
Now we have one customer that get's an error while loading properties for items. The error message is 'ErrorTooManyObjectsOpened'. So but this does not happen to all of the 20 users. Just a few, around 20 % get this error. Also if we temporary disable
all users expect one which gets the error.
What makes me also very "confuse" is, that we can use FindItems/FindAppointments without errors and the following LoadPropertiesForItems
    get's the error.
Dim nPropertySet As New PropertySet(BasePropertySet.FirstClassProperties, nAdditionalProperties)
    nPropertySet.BasePropertySet = BasePropertySet.FirstClassProperties
    FindResult = Service.FindAppointments(New FolderId(WellKnownFolderName.Calendar, New Mailbox(MyUser.User.Email)), nCalenderView)
For Each ObjAppointment As Appointment In nFindResult.Items
    ItemList.Add(ObjAppointment)
    Next
    Service.LoadPropertiesForItems(ItemList, nPropertySet)
We are using the EWS Managed API to access the EWS.
    I found
another post with this error, but the solutions does not work for us. We have done the "break" between the calls with a bigger resolution of 120sek every 5 users, but it does not work.
So it looks like there is another limitation that I don't know yet.

    >>What makes me also very "confuse" is, that we can use FindItems/FindAppointments
without errors and the following LoadPropertiesForItemsget's the error.
What happens when you do LoadPropertiesForItems is that it does a batch GetItem Operation. The error is a throttling error telling you that you have too many items open so doing a batch GetItem for too many objects would make sense (where as FindItems is
just one op), putting in a time break probably won't help in this regards what you should look at doing is dialing back your batch size eg the number of Items you do a
LoadPropertiesForItems on. Instead of working backwards I would suggest working up eg start with batches of 50 items and see if you get the same problem, if not increase this until you find the tipping point. Concurrency can be issue here if
you have multiple threads using the same account you can still only be allowed to open 1000 Items open per account (this would be a big problem if you had a FindItems and GetItem request done concurrently using the same account).
Have you tried using the X-AnchorMailbox header ?
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn458789(v=exchg.150).aspx . This header affects that way the request is load balenced and proxied if your accessing a Mailbox other then the secuirty context being used. I would suggest you try using
the X-AnchorMailbox header and target the Mailbox your attempting to access.
The other thing you can do is that each request has a unique RequestId
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/exchangedev/archive/2012/06/18/exchange-web-services-managed-api-1-2-1-now-released.aspx which can
then be used to find any server side issues in the EWSLogs on the server. So you could open a support request with Microsoft and ask them to check why this is failing based on the RequestId.
    Cheers
    Glen

  • EWS Linking is not working anymore

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem after a fresh installation of LYNC 2013 with existing Exchange 2010. The issue is that conversation history as well as call history is not saved in Outlook anymore.
Reviewing the configuration Lync is missing EWS linking for internal and external and is saying: EWS is not fully initialized. As I checked the user with ps on Lync I got the message that none of the accounts is yet migrated and might not have a exchange
mailbox, which is not true. So I deleted my account from Lync and added it back but it didn't helped.
Autodiscover is set to point to the Exchange Server.
EWS is also activated in Lync settings. It was working with old Lync Front End which had another FQDN.
Do you know this problem and have any suggestions?

When you say any more, does that mean you have migrated from Lync 2010?
Make sure you have run ExchUCUtil on the Exchange server so that the new Lync pools are authorised and configured to work with Exchange. Run
%ExchangeInstallDir%\Scripts\exchucutil.ps1 on the exchange server. Make sure all created UM IP Gateways are valid and available for Exchange to route to. Once the script has been run you will need to associate the created UM IP Gateways to a HuntGroup
and any existing DialPlans. Once a new Hunt Group has been created for all exisiting DialPlans, you can disable the Lync 2010 IP gateways, then later delete.
Also conversation history should still be saved using MAPI if EWS is not available. Is MAPI connection established?

  • How can I disable sending from one Mail account?

Hello. I have a gmail account that I use to subscribe to various newsletters and accounts. So it's essentially a read-only account for me. But I too frequently accidently send mail from that account. Is there a way to prevent mail from being sent from that account?

I want to do the same thing as the OP.  I have tried making outgoing server none. And checking "always use this server so it prompts me to edit the message so that I manually select a different address to send from inthe drop down list. And selecting a different account for composing.  Actually, all my outgoing emails keep coming from the one account I am attempting to disable.  Got any other ideas?

  • Not null and enable or disable  column in tabular form

    Hi,
Using apex version 4.1 and working on tabular form.
    ACT_COA_SEGMENT_MAS is Master table
    and
    ACT_SEGMENT_VALUES_MAS is detail table
I have entered 8 rows in master table and PARENT_SEGMENT_ID is column in master table which is null able. If i specified PARENT_SEGMENT_ID with value in master table then in detail table there is column PARENT_ID that should not be null and enable.
How i can enable or disable column when in master table PARENT_SEGMENT_ID column is null then in detail table PARENT_ID column should disable and vice versa.
I have created tabular form on Detail table. before insert into the tabular form Check in master table in first entry if PARENT_SEGMENT_ID is not null in first row of master table then in tabular form PARENT_ID should enable and not null able in corresponding to this first row id's lines in tabular form.
Same should check for second row in master table if PARENT_SEGMENT_ID is not null then entered rows with PARENT_ID into tabular form corresponding to 2nd id in master table should not nullable and column should enable in tabular form.
    Thanks & Regards

    Vedant,
You need to create you own manual tabular form and not use the wizard.
Using APEX_ITEM api you should be build you own form and you will be able to control how you wan to display the rows. (See Link [Apex Item Help|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35127/apex_item.htm#CACEEEJE] )
select case when PRIMARY_TABLE_COLUMN is null then APEX_ITEM.DISPLAY_AND_SAVE(3 , DETAIL_COLUMN ) else APEX_ITEM.TEXT(2,detail_column) end "ALIAS" from detail table
    Hope that help.

  • NOT disabling keyboard/trackpad on tablet fold...

This is probably the opposite of user problems regarding the keyboard/trackpad and turning the Yoga Pro 2 in tablet mode... Here's the situation:
I'm a Java programmer and I'm sharing my files with my home PC, so I can work from my laptop or desktop easily without transferring files back and forth.
It's no fun adjusting my typing to multiple different keyboards for different PCs, and overall I tend to prefer a trackpad over a mouse for what I do which makes using my lenovo yoga keyboard ideal for everything (majority of wireless keyboards also aren't backlit).
I'm using the program Mouse without Borders (from the Microsoft website) so that I can use my lenovo yoga keyboard/trackpad on my desktop.
What I want to do: keep my keyboard and trackpad enabled when putting the yoga into tablet mode. I've already figured out how to disable the touchscreen for such uses, but the only way I know to keep the keyboard and trackpad active is to uninstall the synaptics driver/software. Obviously that isn't an ideal solution to have to install and uninstall it every time I switch between PCs.
Is there any way to stop synaptics from disabling the keyboard and trackpad when in tablet mode? Preferrably something such as disabling something in device manager, not uninstalling and reinstalling software depending my use for the moment.

    Please provide more information.
First, I have no idea what "Jimi to Jimi" means. This is probably just something you need to explain to me; a Google search didn't turn up anything useful.
You said that the keyboard and trackpad aren't working right. What does this mean, exactly? Regardless, the monitor you use should have no effect on the function of your other peripherals.
