Disable google's access to my imac camera

Hi, I liked using Google for making quick phone calls while on my computer until recently. They're using Google Hangout now, and even though I have the camera functionality disabled within the hangout window, it's using the camera and I guess taking a shot of me when I use it and when I hang up from a call? Whether they're taking a picture or not, the green 'camera in use' light is coming on at the beginning and end of every call. There is no way within the settings of the Hangout app to disable camera access, so, my question is this:
Is there a setting in Safari or in System Preferences that will allow me to restrict Google's access to my built-in camera?

I was wondering if there was a way I could access the built-in camera on my iMac at home using my iPad 2 at a remote location? I know there is Facetime but that requires a party to be located on each end. I want to be able to access the camera on the iMac at home when no one is there. You're right, FaceTime won't do what you want. You would need a remote app such as LogMeIn Ignition to accomplish this. Basically you would be remote controlling your iMac from your iPad. This would allow you to activate the camera via PhotoBooth or iChat or any other app on your computer that can access the camera.

No. It comes with iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand.
You can purchase and install Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:

As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.

I can't access my photos in camera roll.

I can't access my photos in camera roll. It just shows blank boxes instead of the images. When I click 'edit', I can see the image but it won't save, email, sms or anything. If I click on a video, it kicks me out back to home screen. Any ideas what to do?

I am having the same thing as well. I click the photos app, I try view the photos I have taken, it just closed out of the photos app and goes straight back to the home screen. There is another way to see the photos you have taken. You click on the camera, then you click on the photos on the bottom left corner, it works for me. I can see all the pictures I have taken.

I do eCommerce from home using my iMac on Mac OS Lion.
I want to hire somebody you can work from is home and manage all the task I do every day running this online store.
What are the SAFE options to give access to my iMac?
- I want to give complet access to my iMac
- Parallels is instal on my iMac. I use Parallels Desktop to run Windows 7 and Quick Books accounting software. This is the main reason I want to give access to my iMac because most task are done online using email and my online store platform.
My goal is to have access to all my informations when ever I need and supervise this employes.
I tried ScreenSharing, I don't think it can do the job. It is ok to connect to a another computer to fix something, but to use everyday, it looks slow.
How about Lion Server? Can it do the job?
What those thise involve? Buy another mac and installing my accounting software on it?
What are the cost to have a small server? The smallest.
Can I set this uo myself?
I found Open VPN on the internet, would it be a good option?
New to VPN, is it easy to setup my computer?
Is it safe?
Anything I should know about creating this kind of network?
One last thing, I have this old PowerBook G4, do you thing this employe can connect to my imac using this laptop? If yes, does I need a special vesrion of Mac OS to make this work?

You are going to need a server of some type, web server, that you or your emplyees can connect to, concurrently, over a VPN connection.
I really don't thing this is the forum for this type of thing.

No more access to my iMac

Hi there,
a few days before everything worked fine, but since then there's no more possibility to get an access to my iMac from the Wi-Fi Network.
The applications in use are EyeTV and AppleTV. It is not possible to get access from the iPhone to EyeTV or to stream the iTunes files to AppleTV. Either the Mac won't be found, or if it will be found, it denies the access.
What's wrong? I checked all the network settings, but i'm not able to find a mistake.

Along with your OS and applications installation DVDs, you should have gotten an LE8 installation DVD along with its manual and serial numbers when you bought your iMac.
Your license allows you to install LE8 on two computers as long as they are your computers, you are the sole user, and you do not run Logic on both simultaneously. So dig out your installation DVD, install it on your MacBook Pro and enter your serial number and you will be good to go.

No, I have not chosen photos to share as I assumed that the Apple TV would access all photos and music that are stored on my iMac.

Port 3389 should be open on your work network. Check with your admin. They know what ports are open on your work firewall.

Historically, access to the camera was only available through plugins like Flash. The Flash DLL runs in the plugin-container.exe process; if protected mode is in effect, it may also run outside of that process.
I suspect that access through native APIs (e.g., [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Navigator.getUserMedia navigator.mozGetUserMedia]) is rare on the desktop. I don't recall getting any requests for it so far personally.

I believe your issue stems from your search queries being redirected.

Perian 1.2.3 *should* work for both QuickTime & and QTX in Mountain Lion. Regardless of the filetype container, whether it is a Matroska (.mkv) or a .mov. As to the actual encoding of the file (h264, .mp2, whatever..) I have found most play, even older formats.
Even though it's no longer supported and is a dead project, it works just fine. It will load as a System Preference file and adds to the Other category in them.
I think in 10.8 you've still got support for QTX so it may work with that. (in Mavericks, it only works for QT7)
If not, just run QuickTime 7.6.6.

I don't know about the "3" but it's a POP account. I've always suspected that Charter isn't letting go using their mobile apps for iOS. Puzzling that it doesn't block the other way. That is if Mail is open on the iMac it doesn't block access to Mail on either the iPad or iPhone. I'm guessing it's their mobile apps that are the problem but they won't admit it to me.
