Disable guided access

Dear Helpdesk,
Guided access is enabled on my Iphone5 unintentionally. I found this only after upgrading my phone to iOS8. Since I do not have a password to disable guided access I am stuck. Kindly help.
Best Regards,
Babu

I cannot see where you can enable Guided Access unintentionally. See this information from the User Guide.
Guided Access
Guided Access helps an iPhone user stay focused on a task. Guided Access dedicates iPhone to a single app, and lets you control app features. Use Guided Access to:
Temporarily restrict iPhone to a particular app
Disable areas of the screen that aren’t relevant to a task, or areas where an accidental gesture might cause a distraction
Limit how long someone can use an app
Disable the iPhone Sleep/Wake or volume buttons
Turn on Guided Access.
Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access, where you can:
Turn Guided Access on or off
Set a passcode that controls the use of Guided Access and prevents someone from leaving a session
Set whether other accessibility shortcuts are available during a session
Start a Guided Access session.
After turning on Guided Access, open the app you want to run, then triple-click the Home button. Adjust settings for the session, then click Start.
Disable app controls and areas of the app screen:
Draw a circle or rectangle around any part of the screen you want to disable. Drag the mask into position or use the handles to adjust its size.
Enable the Sleep/Wake or volume buttons:
Tap Options below Hardware Buttons.
Keep iPhone from switching from portrait to landscape or from responding to other motions:
Tap Options, then turn off Motion.
Prevent typing:
Tap Options, then turn off Keyboards.
Ignore all screen touches:
Turn off Touch at the bottom of the screen.
Set a session time limit:
Tap Time Limit Options at the bottom of the screen.
Triple-click the Home button, then enter the Guided Access passcode, or use Touch ID.

  • How to disable Guided Access in ios 6.0?

I am a secondary teacher and my students are using iPads in the classroom. I have tried IOS 6.0 and find that Guided Access is useful in some sense. However, I worried that if the Guided Access function is enabled by students, then how teacher/IT staff to unlock?
So, how to disable guided access in ios 6.0?
    Thanks

My son just did that.  He enable guided access and doesn't remember the password.  Now we are locked out of the iPad.  The screen won't lock and the ipad cannot be shutoff either.  It's just running down the battery and we happen to be at the hospital.
I think some tweaks to this option are in order from Apple.

  • Force to disable guided access

    hi all,
I was enable the guided access with pass code in a app, and I did drawn a big "disable are circle "on my screen, and now the disable area is blocking my option to choose between accessibility options to disable the guided access.and option to disable it? pls help.

You may have to force iPad into Recovery Mode.
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • Can you disable Guided Access?

Is there a way to diable Guided Access in Restrictions? I do not want a child to set a password that we do not have.

Sorry but no, Guided Access cannot be blocked in the Restrictions nor by any other means I know of. For this and other features that can't be blocked, I think most schools have just accepted the fact that they'll have to restore their iPads from time to time.
    Regards.

  • Guided access problems

My iPhone 4S is locked in the youtube app.  Guided access is enabled, however, the triple click isn't bringing up the keypad to let me enter the pin and stop guided access.  Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone know what I can do to get the use of my phone back?
It's useless at the moment and I work away from home every week.

    Hi All,
Sorted, found the answer on another thread.  Just do a hardware reset - hold the home and power buttons together for around 10 seconds and when the device resets - you should be back to your home screen.  I have now disabled guided access and will think twice about using it again...

  • HT1688 Guided access locked

    Unable to disable guided access.

Yuck.  If it is an app which you can crash somehow that seems to force it out of Guided Access.  My little guy has become pretty adept at crashing Netflix.
You might try putting the iPhone in DFU mode while rebooting.  It is kinda tricky.  Google for "iPhone DFU" for steps, but stop short of actually restoring the phone with iTunes.  Basically force reboot > get into DFU mode > reboot again.  I have no idea if it will work as I don't have a device I can remove the passcode from right this second.

  • Guided Access - ios7

So I updated my wifes iPad to ios7, no major dramas. However I have found Guided Access doesnt work the same anymore. We use it for our daughter, mainly with ABC iview. When I load the show, then put it into guided access, the show exits out of full screen. I can still here it playing, but no picture. Of course though, the screen is then locked so I cant do anything, so I turn off the guided access, and then try to get back to the show, then the app reboots. Assuming this is ios7 related as it worked fine with the lastest version of ios6 prior.

I had the same problem, and I solved doing this:
1 - put the iPad in lost mode with the Find My iPhone App
2 - Reboot it ( hold home and sleep untill it reboots)
3 - Unlock it with the passcode you created in the lost mode, and disable Guided Access in the Settings app
If not working yet, repet the process a few times.
    Good Luck!

  • How do i activate wi-fi on guided access mode?

i activated the guided access on my iphone 4 and i don't remember the passcode and to use the lost mode i need to connect to the wi-fi, but i had it disabled before activating guided access, so...ther's a bia problem, any of you can help me?

    Tiago Hasuda,
Resetting your iPhone (by holding down the power and home button until you see the Apple logo) will disable Guided Access if there is a passcode set to unlock your iPhone.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

  • Guided Access - can one disable iPad by trying to unlock Guided Access?

    URGENT - NEED TO KNOW:
If someone triple clicks Home Button and trys wrong passcode 10 times to unlock Guided Access will the iPad become disabled?

If you have set up that iPad to disable after 10 wrong passcodes, then yes.  But you can turn off that setting.  It's right at the bottom of the 'Passcode Lock' settings panel.

  • Guided Access Rotates Screen 90 Degrees when Setting Options, Making Selected Disabled Areas Inaccurate

When I press the home button three times to bring up the Guided Access settings, the screen rotates 90 degress and crops some of the page, so selecting the disabled areas on the screen/page is inaccurate once I start Guideed Access.  How do I fix this?
    Thanks,
    Jace

Hi.  No, I haven't been able to resolve the issue.  I called Apple's technical support and they had me restore the iPad to factory default settings, which did not fix the issue.  Next, they suggested that I take the iPad into an Apple Store and exchange it for a new one, which I did.  This also did not fix the issue.  The people at the Genuis Bar at the Apple Store determined that there is a bug with the current version of the iPad software, since every iPad we tried in the store behaved the same way.  They said they would report the bug to Apple's technical support and hopefully it would be addressed in a future release of iOS for the iPad.
    Please help Apple!!
    Thank you,
    Jace

Question: Do you think the response from the support staff is correct? I mean, surely, I can't be the only CF user on a shared box whose other users need to modify the date and time within their applications. Even if they do it at the application level for their domain, surely it wouldn't affect mine, would it? That was what was implied by the support people, but I have a feeling they are way off, or covering for some goof-up on their end. I struggled like hell yesterday trying to get this to work and I did not get very far at all.
I found an interesting tutorial here which does a comparison of time zones and, theoretically, this might do the trick. But if what the guy told me was nonsense then I won't bother with it. For the record, our calendar has been working fine for about a week now.
