Disable Hand toss in CS4 & annoying zoom design

Hi there,
Is there a way to disable the ever so annoying hand toss feature (that makes the canvas glide as you pan it)? Actually refering to it as a feature kind of makes me cringe as there's no practical benefit of it what so ever.
I also find the movement of the new GPU-accelerated marquee zoom kind of jerky. Instead of moving straight in, it seems to use some kind of compound movement that feels rather unsmooth. Am I the only one annoyed by this behaviour?

>Reimund Trost:Is there a way to disable the ever so annoying hand toss feature (that makes the canvas glide as you pan it)?
Edit->Preferences->General Uncheck "Enable Flick Panning"
And I use it all the time when I'm zoomed into an image. Makes navigating to a different area very easy. To stop the pan just left click.

    Is it possable to to preview Dreamweaver CS4 in CS3 Design View? I only have CS4 on my machine and a customer with CS3 wants to make changes to my work. The CSS styles do not render correctly. Is there anything I can do to to correct this? Everything works in the browsers.

    Nope. Some show - some don't.

  • Disable css in dreamweaver CS4

    Hello to all,
    I'm having problems with the new version of dreamweaver 4 that I downloaded from adobe and I'm trying.
    In the previous version of dreamweaver cs3 (general), and in preferences could be disabled ing the use of css, using only the html tags for font type face and color, and retrieve the css classes only when they wanted.
    Now in the new version of CS4 but I can not find this option in the task bar properties as insert the font type and size, this also for other properties.
    You know where you can disable the exclusive use of css?

    Murray, I appreciate your expertise and helpfulness to thousands of people over the years.
    Same sentiments for David Powers.  Many thanks to you both over the years.
    As for the "clutter" of, for instance, Tables.
    I use tables only on rare occasions.
    However, your question: What browsers are you hoping to support by taking such a stance?
    HOPING TO SUPPORT?
    Oh, you know, the popular ones in some far-flung part of the world.
    It is simply that even the dumbest oldest browsers that are not sophisticated enough to apply CSS rules flawlessly are just smart enough to know what to do with old-fashioned inline styles, when used judiciously.
    I use inline styles on rare occasions when I have been made aware that this wonderful UNIVERSAL STANDARD of CSS styling is itself just as buggy as any other protocol.
    I have been designing since 1996. Been through all the browsers and platforms on the user side.
    I have been using CSS stylesheets for the last 10 years.
    As you well know Murray, a Google search will turn up countless, countless articles on how to HACK CSS.
    If CSS were so inviolate and perfect then why are people STILL having to write HACKS?
    HACKS FOR BROWSERS.
    So, the hacks are intended to "support" individual browser flaws, bugs, or outright refusal to conform to another development team's interpretation of a particular CSS "Rule".  Let alone the issue of the successive standards that ARE STILL being written to various flavors of CSS.
    THAT, Murray, is why sometimes INLINE STYLES, instead of "cluttering" code with a gazillion CSS hacks designed to "support" all the major browsers and versions of those browsers, it is beautifully elegant, beautifully simple, to "clutter" the code with an inline style.
    It is not my fault if this is made necessary from time to time.
    I have seen instances where one browser will apply a paragraph definition differently than another also popular browser. And in the middle of the paragraph is one element that you want to break with the parent but it keeps inheriting the paragraph properties in one popular browser. So, hacks have to be written to after even new divs, classes, id's are used to breka the inheritance just long enough to accomplish a visual change. Inline styling works just about every time, without an hour or two trying to hack the CSS stylesheet for every conceivable browser in this instance.
    Here is an example of CLUTTERING with INLINE STYLES right here in the Forum on the very page I am typing which is written by Adobe web design employees!
    In the present forums.adobe.com page I am in:
    Oh my goodness, <strong> KT Media </strong> --
    the lowest form of inline styling invented at the beginning of HTML
    and NOW you can apply a global, if you wish, definition of "<strong>"
    But, why didn't they give it a separate style class such as <span class="login-name"> ?
            <span>Welcome, <a title="Click to view your profile" href="/people/KT%20Media"><strong>KT Media</strong></a></span> <span id="jive-userbar-logout">(<a href="/logout.jspa">Log out</a>)</span>

  • What's the best way (book/tutorial) to learn CS4? (web design context)

    Hey,
    I'm very new to photoshop and have been hunting around the internet looking at tutorials picking up things here and there... but I would really prefer to get a book that contains everything I need to know. Preferably in a 'follow along' style, as opposed to one big reference manual.
    Can you recommend a good book (or if a not a good tutorial series) on using CS4? I'm most interested in using PhotoShop for web design. While I'm not interested in using DreamWeaver etc, I just want to learn how to make simple things for web design. Buttons. Banners. Etc.

    Step by step using basic tools and steps. Then some harder things tossed in but easy to master. Plus you can play with the settings to see different results.
    PS CS4 The missing Manual is good too and really digs deep.

    Can you try to:
    1. Press ctrl+shift+esc to open Task Manager.
    2. On the Task Manager, navigate to Startup Tab > look for Motion Control and click Disable.
    3. Reboot the machine and test if you still get problems.
    Let me know your findings

  • Upgrade CS4 to CS5 design standard - want Photoshop Extended

    try as i might i cant find a way of calling a sales agent on the adobe website. i am trying to understand the following:
    1. what is best way of getting photoshop cs5 EXTENDED without the nonsense of being upsold by adobe ...ie i have CS4 design standard and want photoshop cs5 extended. -  do i need to upgrade photoshop individually and at a much more expensive price ( and then in due course each component individually at higher prices?) or is there a way to get photoshop extended in the CS5 design standard suite'
    2.. Does lightroom3  actually SYNC to flickr ( or facebook, or picassa) or just transfer?
    3. is there actually a sales number to call for help

    No. You do not have a Photoshop license...you have a Creative Suite license.
    Unfortunately, Adobe does a pretty poor job as far as this type of information is concerned but as I said earlier, the only way you can get to PS Extended is by upgrading to Design Premium.
    I personally believe DP is the best bang for the buck in the whole CS family. I've got an article on my website, http://theindesignguy.com/purchase-advice.shtml, which you may find informative.

  • At the bottom - the url if you click on it - it switches to the other side of the browser. How do I disable that completely - it's annoying and gets into the way

    This is not an issue of functionality. But in convenience. When you click on a link or pass over a link in a webpage, at the bottom of the browser it shows the url. sometimes if you hover or that it switches to the other side of the browser. For example: The Link is firefox. Hover over it and at the bottom is shows http://www.mozila.org. And if you click on it while it is going to the website, if you hover over the URL it moves to the other corner of the browser. My question is - is there a way to disable that function in Firefox. Sometimes that URL just sits there if you don't have over it or click it off. It's just a bit annoying at times.

    That can happen if the link is at the bottom on the browser window and is (partly) covered by the link preview notification that used to be on the status bar in previous Firefox versions.
    If you hover such a link that is covered by the pop-up the Firefox may swap that link for right to left or vice versa.
    You can use this extension to hide the pop-up that shows the URL of a link on hover and other data that previously appeared on the Status bar.

    Meg St. Clair - I understand how it works, I have had the phone for several years. It seems to me that it is more sensitive in ios 6, or perhaps the browser/app changed, but either way, it is causing me a problem that it wasn't earlier.
    paulcb- You are talking semantics. Wether I said the word push or the word tap, I am definitely not holding my finger on the screen.
    Sounds like there is no solution within apple's product, so I will ask around some jb forums. (No I am not currently jb, I understand troubleshooting altered software is impossible).
    Thanks for trying to help everybody.

  • Hand tool in CS4

    I was wondering if there is a way to use the hand tool (or spacebar) even if the entire image is visible, like you could do in previous versions. One might wonder why you would want to pan if you can already see the entire image. This comes up when one of your layers is bigger than the main image. If you try to Transform the layer, but the transform handles are off the edge of the screen, you need the hand tool. Otherwise you have to zoom out even further to get at the handles.

    You can change from "Standard screen mode" to "Full screen mode with menu bar" or "Full screen mode" by using the icon on the tool bar. Or, as in all versions of PS, press F on your keyboard to toggle between the modes. You can then use the space bar to pan the image in both of the Full screen modes. A useful thing to remember!

  • I currently use CS4 and have designs using this. If I upgrade to CC will I still be able to modify my CS4 designs? I'm thinking of unistalling CS4 to add memory to my computer.

    If my system currently has CS4 and designs have been created with CS4, will I be able to modify those designs with Creative Cloud? Also, If I upgrade to Creative Cloud, should I uninstall CS4 to make more space on my computer?

    Yes, legacy files can be opened in CC. Whether or not you uninstall CS4 is entirely up to you, but since opening files in newer versions may sometimes change appearances due to technical changes, it's usually a good idea to keep older versions around during transition phases, if only to check for those issues and verify that they are "real".

  • Temporarily disable Assert Unusable in CS4

    Dear all:
    I added following to disable asset in CS4:
    IPlugIn* GetPlugIn()
    #ifdef _DEBUG
    gLogAsserts = kFalse ;
    gBreakOnAssert = kFalse;
    #endif
    return &gPlugIn;
    but compiler report error that can't find the two indentifiers.
    Is CS4 remove them or who can tell how can disable assert in CS4?
    Thanks.

    Haha, found, in CS4 replaced by functions, can do like this:
    IPlugIn* GetPlugIn()
    #ifdef _DEBUG
    SetLogAsserts(kFalse);
    SetBreakOnAssert(kFalse);
    #endif
    return &gPlugIn;

    If there are any people on this list from an Oracle Forms and Oracle Designer background who are learning ADF, you may be interested in the hands on exercise we are running on otn.oracle.com/formsdesignerj2ee , our dedicated site for Forms and Designer developers learning ADF and J2EE.
    The hands-on takes you through modelling your applications, adding flow, a business model, validation and this week: building the web pages.

    Oracle Product Management

    Grant this page is excellent. i have seen it earlier and i follow it up. the best part is the hands-on workshop.
    you have to continue this workshop by adding more complex examples for application development it will be very useful.
    i am a forms developer. what ever little i have learnt about java app. devlopment using jdev i have learnt from this page.
    few request for hands-on from myside
    sample population of JTree(a sample application like we develop with forms, select a node in the tree and the right-side datablock gets populated with the corresponding selected node data)
    sample manual population of JTable
    Might sound very silly but will be very useful for starters like me.
    Your earlier workshops were very detailed one and i expect the rest in the same way. I had only little knowledge of jdev before. but i could very easily work with your hands-on becuase of the detailed explanation and could complete all.
    Thanks.

  • CS4 and CS6 design views

    When viewing the same index file I see significant differences between the design views of Dreamweaver CS4  and Dreamweaver CS6. The index file was created in CS5. My CS4  displays it correctly while CS6 design view is not even close. The live views are correct with both.

    Here is the original .php doc. (Does not contain any php because that was the exercise to insert it).

  • Disabling a signature line in Adobe Livecycle Designer

    I have a form that have a yes / no question with checkboxes.  I want the digital signature line to be disabled if the "No" checkbox is selected.  I would also like the space where the digital singature goes to say "N/A".
    Is that possible?
    Thanks,

    Hi Ismael,
    as far as I can see there might be a mistake in the code itself. Did you check the tablerows you compare here?
    I think you might have unexpected values at here:
    tblTable[i].rowItem.colProduct.rawValue eq Table4.Row1[j].Cell0.rawValue
    This might cause your unexpected result. Your results are never higher than expected, am I right?

  • Transferring work from Illustrator CS4 to In Design CS4

    I recently started using Adobe In Design for a book layout. I haven't used the program before, but am I finding it relatively easy to get around. However, I have just encountered an issue, where I am trying to get a drawing of an entire golf course from Illustrator to In Design. I have been inserting .jpg files easily into In Design, but when I make a .jpg of my Illustrator file and try to place it into In Design, the drawing looks terrible, it's badly pixelated and not at all readable. I tried to copy and paste also, straight from the illustrator file into In Design but the same thing happened.
    Can anyone point out what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    jpg is always a bad idea -- its only rational use is to save photos in a smaller file format when quality is not important. Every time you resave a jpeg file, it gets recompressed and looks worse. That said, your jpeg file might not be as bad as it looks -- in order to work quickly, Indesign defaults to a lower-resolution preview. You can use View:Display Performance:High Quality Display to look at it in full resolution (though Indesign will work more slowly until you turn it back off again). And the true proof is in the printing -- print out a page.
    As suggested, what you really want to do is place the Illustrator file directly into Indesign. This preserves all of your line art and text as line art, not pixels, and your output will be much cleaner. Also, in Indesign you can right-click (control-click) on the object and select "Edit Original" to open the original file in Illustrator to make changes, which is much more convenient the exporting a new jpeg file and relinking.
