Disable icloud back up

I have an iMac OS X (Snow Leopard) and at present back up goes to iCloud, although this doesn't actually appear to happen as what is on iCloud bears no resemblance to what I have stored on my iMac/iPhone!
How do I disable iCloud back up?
Also, I want to update the Safari bookmarks on my iPhone and make them the same as the ones on my iMac, how do I do this.
One final Q, I look in System Preferences for my Mail and Contacts icons and they're not there, why?
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I would try unchecking the iClould backup option in the Summary pane for the iPod in iTunes.

  • How to disable iCloud for iCal and move events back to your Mac?

How can I disable iCloud and move my iCal events back to my Mac? I no longer want to store my private calendars in iCloud and want them back on my Mac but I don't know how to do it! Does anyone know what to do? Thanks

To move your calendars, follow the second set of numbered instructions here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudmovecalendars.html
Then you can sign out of iCloud in System Preferences>iCloud.

  • How can I disable iCloud on my iMac and my iPod touch 5th gen?

My ipod touch 5th gen now syncs through icloud. How can I disable icloud from my ipod and my imac and go back to syncing through iTunes.  Is it possible to do this without losing the data in contacts and ical?  Any ideas would be much appreciated!

With the iPod connected to your computer go to the Summary pane for the iPod in iTunes and uncheck the box that says: Sync with this iPod over Wi-Fi.
Also in the Summary pane check the box that says backup to the computer.

I was not aware that such a limitation existed.  Try this:  (disable Time machine temporarily
Click on the Time Macine HDD, and open ''Backups. backupdb' folder.  You then might see another folder with you name on it.  Open that folder which should show you a series of folders with a series of dates.  See EX.
Select the folder with the date where the data that you want to retrieve resides.  Open that folder and keep opening folders until you get to the item you wish to restore.  Drag the item to your desk top.
    Ciao.

  • How do I disable iCloud on my computer?

I don't want to use iCloud, however, looking in the system preferences it shows that both my contacts and calendar are checked for using it.  I do not remember doing this.  I would prefer not to use iCloud.  In addition, I get this annoying log in screen every time I boot my computer up and I have to hit cancel.  Is there any way to disable iCloud and how would I get my contacts and calendar stored on my computer so that everything is not lost once I disable it from iCloud?
I'm using OS 10.9.5 on a Mac Pro.
    Thanks for any help,
    kt

Computers do not back up to icloud, only ios devices can do that.  Or do you mean something else?  Photo stream perhaps?  (This is not a backup.)
On your mac, System preferences>icloud, enter your ID to log into icloud.

  • Sync music after disabling ICloud

I have an IPod Touch, IPad Mini, and Macbook Pro with an ITunes library of over 3,000 songs. Neither IPod nor IPad are 3g. About a month ago, I signed up for and uploaded my entire library to ICloud. Works fine, UNTIL I LEAVE THE HOUSE. I have deleted the account from the IPod, and then tried to sync my music from ITunes. Neither apps nor music will sync to my IPod Touch. Next I turned off ITunes Match, still doesn't sync. Have I spent $700 on music players that are no longer functional?  How do I get my music and apps back on my IPod Touch after disabling ICloud?

If you want your entire music library in iCloud (up to 25,000 songs) you will have to subscribe to iTunes Match (see http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/).  Otherwise only music purchased from the iTunes store is in iCloud.

  • How to Disable iCloud popups in iTunes

For the last few weeks when I'm using iTunes (11.3) on Mac OS 10.6.8.  I keep getting annoying popups saying that for security reasons my iCloud session has expired.
I'm fairly IT savvy and don't know what use iCloud is to me, is so am pretty certain that I neither need nor want it.  Therefore I'm not about to install some random piece of software.
Is there some way of getting rid of it?  I've searched my iTunes settings and can't find an option for disabling iCloud.
Thanks for any help you can provide - it's annoying the heck out of me.

    Hi heather,
YAY! Glad that resolved your issue. iTunes uses Safari to connect to the internet - just behind the scenes, so it is not obvious.
Thanks for posting back with your good news!

  • Cannot disable iCloud keychain on iPhone

On a new iphone6+ (iOS 8.1.3), the iCloud keychain (safari passwords) will not sync to this device.
A recommended solution from apple support is to disable iCloud Keychain on all devices, and enable it on the one with the most accurate information (then re-enable it on other devices).
Unfortunately, the iPhone6+ in question will not allow Keychain to be disabled--clicking the on/off toggle appears to change the status to "Off", but upon leaving the menu, the status still shows "On".
Signing out of iCloud and back in (on the device) doesn't solve the problem of no data sync'd, nor does it allow Keychain to be disabled.
This means I effectively cannot sync data to this device...any ideas?

This is not good, Apple making users like yourself start from scratch for a problem which lies with their servers screwing up for the past few days!
Wouldn't it be nice if Apple acknowledged the problem, at least on their iCloud system status page: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/systemstatus/
    It's called being proactive, Apple!

  • ICloud preferences and other apps hang on iPhone, can't enable/disable services to sync. How to force-disable iCloud on iPhone?

    Hi,
I've been having a lot of problems since upgrading to iOS5 and enablind iCloud on my iPhone 4:
    - I've had both Contacts and the Phone app freeze repeatedly. Contacts often freezes when going back up to the "Groups" view, and I have to force-quit it to continue using it. I've also had repeated crashes of Phone when trying to view contacts.
    - Whenever I try to enable or disable services to sync in the iCloud settings screen, it hangs forever in the twirling "Turning on/off" notification. I've left it running for at least an hour once and it never finished. I have to force-quit the Settings app, and the change I request never gets applied.
I've tried restoring the phone from backup and also resetting all preferences, but the problem persists ("reset all preferences" doesn't seem to erase the iCloud settings).
I'm this close to resetting my phone to zero and reinstall everything by hand, but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone knows of a way to forcefully disable iCloud on the iPhone, or anyone has seen these types of problems before.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can see what space is available to you on the phone at settings > general > usage > storage. It's the phone that needs the space (a little over 3 GB) to install iOS7.
Back ups or the space used by them isn't really relevant for installing iOS7, but that's not something you can see at iCloud.com.

  • What are the steps to follow before disabling iCloud?

After working a while with my iMac running Mountain Lion in combination with iCloud, I have to disable iCloud because I'm going across the ocean for a while. I don't want to end up with a huge bill because every time I use my iPhone, it will sync (while no Wi-Fi available).
As a matter of fact, I already archived my Contacs, Calanders and Reminders (Notes doesn't have such a feature), but it seems to put everything back to the iCloud account after importing.
My question is: What is the step-by-step approach to disable iCloud (both iPhone and iMac) without losing any data?
    Many thanks in advance!
    Cheers,
    GJ

    Thanks a lot, mende1!
It works. (Only Notes is set up differently, but that's not a real issue for me.)
If I do the same on my iMac, I don't get that question. Is there a possibility to restore these data from my iPhone to my iMac?

  • How can I disable icloud from an old mac ?

I gave away my old Mac book Pro. I reseted the icloud password after giving away my Mac. It turns out that I have received word from the new owner that photos and videos from my icloud are showing in that Mac. Is there any way to disable icloud on that Mac?

Not for you, but you could ask the new owner to sign out of the account and delete your stuff.

  • Camera Roll not restoring from iCloud back-up

Due to an extremely large amount of "other" on my iPhone 5 I decided to reset / delete and restore from iCloud. Camera roll IS turned on in my cloud back-up, and I backed it up just before reset / delete phone.
When I restore from iCloud back-up everything works perfectly except my camera roll reloading. It just continues to say 'Downloading" (with the little circle thing going round & round) with no change or progress. It never says "downloadng xx of xxx" or anything like that. The photo stream has restored with no problem.
I hope I can restore the camera roll because it has videos that aren't saved anywhere else, but if not how the heck do I stop the "downloading..." at the bottom of the camera roll folder and get on with my life? Any help will be much appreciated.

Actually I posted here only after trying ezjules suggestions  No luck.  Even stranger is that even after I "stopped restoring" my camera roll is acting the same,; still says Downloading at the bottom. Strange.. Here is a screen shot after I have stopped the restore in settings.

You should call Apple Support and give them your Apple ID so that they can verify how many photos you actually do have backed up in iCloud...
Also, are you able to do an iTunes backup at all? Because that would save all of the photos and allow you to get them onto the new device.
    Apple Support number is
    1-800-694-7466
