Disable image copy in iOS for fixed layout ePub iBooks

Hello,
Is there XHTML code to disable image copy in a fixed layout ePub file made for iBooks? I have an ePub in iBooks that I created myself manually, but when a user clicks on an image, using an iPad for example, a "copy" option comes up and is distracting.  I would like to disable this so that when a user touches an image the "copy" option does not come up. But I would still like the user to be able to pinch and zoom on the image.
Thanks!
Eric

Thanks again Steve and Bill
My interest in embedding videos was largely to minimize the final file size and amount of space used on each person's device.  I ended up following your advice about using Adobe Media Encoder to minimize the size of each slideshow but it still increased the final ePub from 65 MB to over 200 MB.  And that was with video quality that was far inferior from what I could offer through an embed or, my final solution, a link out to my website.
I happen to be of the same thought as Bill that most people are now connected to the internet and would favor a smaller file with access to online content over a very large file.  I would have liked to embed the videos and allow 720p quality inside the ePub over the link I ended up settling for.

    Hi SAP Gurus
I need a big favour, I am trying to map serach string with internal order, my search string is MV-38610573 which I have mapped with posting rule 'GENT' which  debits bank account and credit revanue accounts but this revanue account requires assignment with internal order, so I have created another 3 search string with same search string 'MV-38610573' and mapped with BSEG-ASUFNR,60000LC ( internal order),3 (bdc account type) respectively, also maintained three entries in search string use which is for BDC FIELD NAME1, BDC FIELD VALUE 1 & BDC ACCOUNT TYPE 1,
But this is not working it gives me following error,

  • What resolution should I save images for fixed-layout epub?

I have produced an illustrated history book that was created with 300dpi images for print publication.  My next step is to create a fixed-layout epub. Is there a particular resolution that I should set for the images?  Is there a single resolution that I can use to target all tablets and e-readers that accept fixed-layout epubs?
My strategy was going to be to generate a PDF of the book (with no text) and import the PDF pages as the background images for the fixed-layout epub. I am guessing that I should use 150 dpi when saving the PDF.
I'm just a little worried that if I create the fixed-layout epub with 150 dpi images, it may not show up correctly on tablets that don't have high resolution screens?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Use the "Save for Web" option.  Put in the resolution you want, and then dial down the quality, it will show you what it looks like.  Go as low as you're willing given the quality it shows.

  • Linking audio to an image or a button for fixed layout export

I can't seem to correctly link an audio file either to a button (another image) or selecting a custom poster frame.  No matter what settings I select the output is always the same as shown below:
The audio are the two grey boxes...

If you place a movie ... what's under the "Watch" text above ... there's no need to place the audio file for it separately. You just place the movie. The ereader puts its own controls on top of the move to play or pause it.
In addition, you can add a button that will play the movie. The user can tap the button. To do that, make or place the button artwork in your layout file, then convert it to a button in the Buttons  & Forms panel. Then with the button selected, add an Action to the button: choose Play Movie drop down list of actions, and choose the filename for the movie from the list in the same panel.
All the same is true for Audio files.  Users can tap the audio file to play/pause it, using the ereader's built in controls for audio files, and you can also make a button to play the audio, same as described for video.
A button can only play a movie or audio that's on the same spread as the button itself.
Does any of this info help? Are you trying to do something different than what I described?

  • Fixed Layout Epub 3 Reader for Windows??????

Can anyone, anyone,... tell me of an Epub reader that works for Fixed Layout Epub 3 for Windows 8?
I have gone through 6 of them now including Adobes own "Digital Editions" that does not even open them at all on PC but ok on Mac.
My only luck, if you can call it that, is that Calibre for PC opens them but no button actions work.
If i can not find a good PC Epub reader it is pointless to use this format to replace DPS at this time.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    I just read that.
    Thanks for the heads up.
This is not giving high hopes though.  I know it's new-ish and all but if people have to go out of there way to read these that is not going to make it a very popular format.  Apple has there stuff together but as for Windows and Android they really need to step it up.  Adobe needs to take the initiative and add this to Acrobat or crate a new viewer for epub in my humble opinion.
    Thanks again.

  • Indesign Fixed Layout ePub to distribute on Amazon

Do I have to convert the file to KF8 format or mobi? There is no plugin in Indesign CC 2014.1 to do that for Fixed Layout ePubs.
    What shall I do????

Just open your ePub file in Kindle Previewer and it'll be converted to .mobi.

  • In a fixed-layout epub is there a way to turn off the faux spine effect for just one pair of pages?

I'm formatting a graphic novel as a fixed-layout epub.  Because the pages are generated in Manga Studio with an intended print target, it by far makes the most sense to just use a single, large image for each page.  I'm coding the .opf, .xhtml, and .css files by hand, and I more or less understand everything I'm doing.
Because the pages are often full bleed, I actually want the faux book chrome afforded by having <meta property="ibooks:binding">true</meta>.  The shadow effect in the gutter gives a nice deliniation between the pages without me having to do anything additional with the formatting.
However... a handful of pages in the book are two-page spreads.  These look good enough with the shadow spine in the middle, but they would obviously look better without it.  What I'd like to do is identify these particular page pairs as two-page spreads and turn the binding chrome off for just that page pair.  I could of course "fake it" by adding a shadow to the pages themselves (except the spreads) and turning off the binding chrome on the entire book, but it'd be a lot easier to be able to do it in software.
Apple's formatting guide mentioned nothing of the sort, and searching for a while hasn't turned up anything (not even anyone asking the same question so far as I can tell).  I'm guessing this isn't possible, but it never hurts to ask.  Anybody know of a way to do this?

Just found this... Sorry to waste the post...

  • Fixed Layout EPUB - for multiple devices

We are looking to create an EMAGAZINE or EPUB with a fixed layout for employee benefit guides that will be viewed on multiple devices (desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile - both PC and MAC devices) and I am wondering what is the best style to use to accomplish this? With the new fixed layout EPUB, it creatively meets our needs, but will it work on a PC? Or tablet that is not Apple?
What are the best options for a picture heavy/table heavy online "book" created in InDesign?
    Thanks,
    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,
Yes you can view your fixed layout epubs on a PC/tablet, there are multiple fixed layout readers available on devices. For PC there is Readium that is a Chrome extension.
    Thanks

  • Indesign CC 2014 Fixed-Layout Epub exported great for iBooks.  Can I do the same for Kindle?

I have read a lot about being able to edit the Epub code in a Fixed-Layout Indesign CC exported Epub.  This Epub works great in IBooks. What I read said I could clean up the
code so it works for Kindle.  But I can't figure out what code needs to be cleaned out.  How can I export it correctly or clean it up?
    Hope someone here knows,
Thanks for the help in advance,
    Janis

    Monica,
    Thanks for your response.
I tried again as you suggested.
I exported a Fixed Layout ePub (exported size ~29mb) and tried to load it on an Mac, iPad and iPhone 5s. The results are inconsistent. On the Mac, I received a message that the file was corrupt. On the iPad, the file did eventually load (the quality of the output is another discussion - sneak preview, it's not as good as Circular Flo. Lots of weird stuff). On the iPhone 5s, iBooks is still spinning and has been for about 10 minutes.

  • No fixed-layout EPUB export at 144ppi?

Just curious. I created a nice EPUB in InDesign, all my images are full-page/screen, 1024x768. I exported it as a fixed-layout EPUB and specified 150ppi to cover the iPad's Retina resolution. However, Apple's iBooks wouldn't accept it due to the pixel dimensions being too large. I had to re-export at 96ppi (which was then accepted on iBooks Store). I was hoping for 144ppi, which would be equivalent to an iPad's retina resolution (2048x1536), but it's not an option in the pulldown menu. Am I off-track here? Any idea if this needs to be addressed? Thank you.

Currently InDesign does not let you enter your preferred resolution  while exporting. it has to be from the available choices-72,96,150,300 ppi.
To allow the user to be able to pick his own resolution setting is something which is in our backlog for EPUB Enhancements and might get addressed in later updates.

  • Hyperlink Problem when Creating Fixed Layout ePub

Hi guys, not sure if anyone can help...
I've created a fixed layout ePub from a print document and everything works perfectly apart from I can't get hyperlinks to work.
Originally I'd set up the hyperlinks on my text which didn't work. After a bit of digging around I found some documentation stating that text hyperlinks don't work and that they need to be fired from an image. Also, internal links (to other pages) don't work, only links to external URLs - fortunately for me - all my required links are to external URLs, however, they still don't appear to work... does anybody have any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong?
I'm testing with Redium on Windows 7 and iBooks on iPad Air
    Thanks in Advance
    Kindest regards
    Poll

    Hi Poll,
The hyperlinks are set on what kind of objects? If the external hyperlinks are applied on a text frame or a rectangle, it won't work. There are two cases that work:
    1. Hyperlink on images
    2. Hyperlink on objects in a group and the group is set to rasterise from Object Export Options dialog.
What is your case which is not working? Please elaborate.
    Regards,
    Pooja

  • Fixed layout epub displaying incorrectly on PC, but correctly on Mac

I have a fixed layout epub that I created in InDesign. The file displays correctly in ADE on Mac, but is a mess in ADE on Windows (the text is huge, the images are scattered, and most content is off the page). The file also displays correctly in iBooks and Calibre on Mac (I only have a DRM version on the PC so I can't view in Calibre for PC). What might the issue be? What additional information can I provide to help troubleshoot?

    I just read that.

  • Muse Slideshows in Fixed Layout EPUB

    Hi Everyone
I created my App Folio in InDesign but later realised that based on my distribution requirements I would not be able to go via itunes app market. I have to convert my content into fixed layout epub for the requirement of my project.
In my initial App Folio I have slideshows created in Adobe Muse and brought into Indesign Document as web overlay (HTML Slideshows from MUSE, MUSE exports those as HTML5 site) . My content is Image intensive. There are about 100 images in each slideshow, so creating those via Multi State Objects in ID including the thumbnails is not easy. Its very easy to create those in Muse .
My question is what is the best way to use those Muse slideshows in a fixed layout EPUB . Do Folio Overlays such as WEB work with  Fixed Layout EPUB ? Second part of question is which folio overlays work with Fixed Layout EPUB ? is there a detailed help document.
    Thanks in advance for help.

There is, you only have to add one navpoint inside toc.ncx, this will hide the "text TOC".
Read more about it in the iBookstore Asset Guide
