Disable input monitor while record enabled?

i just got an m-audio profire 2626 interface that I'm using to do my monitoring through, so i no longer want logic to monitor each track because it creates a weird double monitoring phaser thing. I thought that i disabled the monitoring by clicking the little "I" button next to the record enable, but as soon as i enable the track for recording it starts the monitoring again, is there away for me to disable monitoring when the track is enabled for recording?

If you are monitoing using direct monitoring on your interface, you should disable "Software Monitoring" in the audio drivers preferences. Now Logic will not monitor signals through the mixer at all, leaving it up to your audio interface.

  • Mute the input monitor while recording? Should be easy, right?

First off, here's an illustration of what I'm doing:
    http://www.thesoundofmachines.com/re-amp-image.jpg
I'm sending an already recorded guitar take through a cigar-box amp, then re-recording it back into a new track in the logic session at the same time.
I did search the forums & the user manual. I must be loosing it. How do I mute the input signal while it's being recorded? I need the input to be recorded, but not monitored. Otherwise, I'm drowning in a terrible feedback loop.
I turned off "software monitoring" to no avail. What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance...

  • How to disable horizontal flip while recording a movie?

I'm trying to screen and movie record at the same time while playing a game but for some reason movie recording automatically flips horizontally, (I know you can flip it after you record)  thing is, I'm not gonna record the actual movie, because I just need the window open while screen recording. Help please?

On my system, if I take a movie full screen the second monitor goes black.   I didn't do anything to make that happen but I'll play with my monitor order to see if that matters.

  • How do you CONCURRENTLY monitor while recording a voice track?

I want to use Garageband for recording hypnosis sessions. I connect a Plantronics USB Mic headset to the computer and record into that (and can hear through it too), but want ALSO for a client to be able to hear through a SEPARATE set of headphones - plugged into the headphone jack (or somehow).
Problem is that the headphone jack of the MAC is disabled by the use of the other USB headphone being used for the recording/monitoring.
How can I get this to work? People MUST be doing this.
    Thank you!

You can't do it the way you want to, GB supports a single output device only.
You'd have to use this Headphone Splitterplugged into the headphone jack on the Mac.

  • Menu option "other invoice document" gets disabled in MIR7 while Recording

    Hi All,
I have one requirement when I have to open the parked invoice document ( MIRO) with MIR7.
I don't want to record each and every field and pass the bdcdata then with call transaction.
There is one option in MIR7 when under invoicedocumnet->other invoice document i can pass the invoice document number and the fiscal year.
I have the document number and the fiscal year as i have already parked the document with MIRO.
so i thought to record this and call the transaction then.
Problem: When i open MIR7 to record, the menu option invoicedocumnet->other invoice document  gets disabled. I am not able to record this.
Is there any solution to this? Any BAPI exists ??
Otherwise i would have to record each and every field to pass the parked data into it ..
    Thanks in advance

I've seen this issue in the past.  I think it is connected to the operating system itself.  I say this because I reinstalled the os using itunes and then restored a backup.  Then garageband started behaving again.  Then the issue came back - after I did an os update.  So I'd try reverting back to a fresh version of the latest os, and then restoring your apps using a backup.
    Hope it helps

  • My recorded audio came out "broken" than when i was monitoring while recording an audio

Im using a focusrite scarlett 2i2 as audio interface, an old Yahama MG102c mixer. They worked fine during the past few days but recently my recorded audio turns out distorted and full of static which is way different then when i was monitoring it. The recordings sounded perfect this past few days but suddenly it produces these kinds of annoying extra sounds. Is there a problem with my equipment or is there a problem with the program itself? Any chance of repairing the audio file and fixing the problem itself? any help is appreciated. Thank you! If you dont get what i mean i can send you a sample. Just email me here [email protected]

  • LogicX Rec Problem. I can't hear while recording no matter I turn on Auto Input Monitoring at menu or channel. On certain songs I could thru AUX to REC, my L7/8/9 procedure. Now, inconsistent, not work. Any help?

    Logic X Recording Problem
I can't hear (ex.) voice back while recording no matter I turn on Auto Input Monitoring at Record Menu or Channel Strip.
On certain old projects I could when thru AUX to REC, which was my L7/8/9 procedure.
Recording takes place on a consolidated session, all audio tracks with no latency, which actually happens only it can't be heard.
Monitoring is very inconsistent and in fact doesn't work at all. Any help?

Correction: actually "thru AUX to REC channel" is not effective.
It's just that I can input monitor thru an extra AUX channel independently of the REC channel.
Sending the source to be recordered to aux and audio rec at same time.

  • Enable Mic Monitoring ONLY During Recording or Record-Enabled Tra

Is there any way to monitor the mic inputs only when you're recording? I know that you can disable the output of the mic to the speakers (or enable if you want), but is there any way to automatically do this only when you've record-enabled a track in a program such as Sonar or Adobe Audition? Thanks for the feedback!Message Edited by PaneTrez on 06-07-2006 04:03 PM

which card you got ? and are you asking how to eliminate the feedback? well on my cards (x-fi and audigy 2, and li've 5.) i think you can do it with the bundled recorder that you get when you download the drivers from this site. I think creative recorder is the best one. Also creative mediasource should work (if you dont have Creative Recorder) just select recording source (which is your mic) In my opinion it does just as good of job as AA .5 (which I also own and use alot). I also believe I might have seen that option in AA, but it could be risky as it may interfere or conflict with your device. Only on my x-fi card have i noticed that it autmatically mutes the speakers while recording from mic (during Audio Creation Mode---I select Mic and select Monitor on Recording only) . Only other quick fix to it is simply press the mute key or my personal favorite use some earphones (not headphones cuz youll still get a little feedback at high volumes).Message Edited by djbonus on 06-07-2006 08: PM

  • Audigy 2 ZS - How can I turn off record input monitori

Just upgraded from SBLi've value to Audigy 2 ZS and discovered an irritating new "Feature" that was not on the SBLi've.
During recording, any input source is automatically present on the card's outputs. I'm using an external audio mixer and do not need (or want) to hear what I am recording back through the card while I'm recording it. I only need to monitor previously recorded tracks.
I've searched and so far can't find any way of switching this off. Anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks, Rick

    Essex,
Open the Creative Surround Mixer application, look under the recording section and select Analog Mix. Click on red cross on the top and you should have that option.

  • Logic cpu meter spike while recording / monitoring?

Hey, I just checked Logic's internal CPU meter, and noticed something quite weird is happening.
I have only ever had one overload message, which I think was caused by changing a BFD2 setting, so the fact Logic believes that it's maxing out one of my cores confuses me a little more.
Anyway, in a template project (just unused audio tracks), if I click the record (or the monitor) button, my first core tops out in Logic's meter, but in the activity monitor, little changes, and sometimes even shows the load changing between cores, with Logic still insisting the overloading core is doing the work.
If I deselect the button, the core returns to no/little load. It doesn't seem to affect Logic's performance, but I'm more than curious about this.
Anyone have the same thing happen to them, or is there a reason for this?

    From another post of mine:
An observation about lopsided CPU behaviour: a reliable source(an AU and hardware developer) remarked the other day that according to his tests all stuff that is on record enabled/monitored tracks can only run in a single thread using the (small) i/o buffer on one CPU.
This 'real time' CPU can easily be overloaded, while the rest of the CPU's may be idling.
You can have loads and loads of CPU hungry stuff on tracks that are in playback mode(and that use a large buffer because logic knows what is coming) on an octocore, but for record/monitor enabled tracks the octocore is just as good as a single core/cpu machine with the same specs(CPU speed/cache/RAM speed etc.)
Haven't tested this myself yet, but is sounds plausible and it would certainly explain some of the trouble I've seen with CPU overtloads.

  • Record Enable/Disable Level Changing

    Hey,
Is there any way to stop Logic from 'remembering' the position of the level fader when Record Enabling/Disabling the track?
e.g. If the level fader is set at 0 without the track Armed for Recording then you Record Arm the track and change the level fader to -10, when the track is Disarmed the level fader will return to 0, i.e. the position it was with Record Arm turned off.
I think this goes for pan, mute etc aswell.
    Hope this isn't too confusing.
    Thanks

    Hey David,
    Thanks for your reply.
The problem is when setting all this while the tracks are enabled for recording, when I have fineshed recording and disable all the tracks from recording to listen to them, all the level faders go back to 0 and I have to setup my mix again, this may sound silly but when tracking 14 tracks of drums, it can become quite tedious when in a tracking session and not really into the mixing stage.
    Thanks again

  • Monitoring Sound Out While Recording

Does anyone know what would be the correct settings in Logic Pro for monitoring the sound output while recording a guitar? In Garage Band, all you have to do is turn on monitoring and you can hear the throughput. I used to be able to do it in an old version (4.8) of Logic. Since I upgraded to Logic 7, I have not been able to hear the "real time" guitar while I record. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (By the way, I am using an iMic to connect to the USB input . I'm using a G5 (2.7ghz dual proc) PowerMac.

Mark - Thanks for your reply. Yes, I've tried experimenting with that all night long. I can see that it affects the output meter in the track mixer, but still no sound. When I select the iMic input , the sound does not route through to the physical line out on the G5. I can open up Garage Band and then go back to Logic and then hear the output. The problem with this setup is then after I record a track, you can't hear the output of what you just recorded without first going in and selecting the "built-in audio" setting of the audio options (changing from the iMic setting). I never had this problem with the ancient version (4.8) of Logic I used on my old iBook.
    Thanks again for your reply.
    Jack
