Disable Keyboard While VI is Running?
Is there a way to disable the keyboard input while a VI is running? I am designing a system that will run for 14-days, and there might be the potential for someone to accidentally press a button that would stop the VI or cause the computer to crash. I would like it so that a the operator can turn on and off the keyboard lock from the front panel. Is this possible?

I have a script that refines a selection in a certain way, and afterward a user may choose to hit CTR-C to cut. However if they hit CTR-C before the script is done it gives a GENERAL PHOTOSHOP ERROR and spits up a piece of code (see attached image). This is happening hundreds of times a day because production is so fast, and I need a way to fix this.

PraveenWhile the script is running, if it is properly written, the user should not be able to interfere with the workings of the script. as a extra measure, try using a scriptUI palette with a progress bar (see peter's book on the subject).
Are you using stuff like "app.copy()" and app.paste()? That it is usually a recipe for disaster, and the one reason people ask about locking the keyboard. -

Hi everyone,
One of my users tried to run a rule in Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 and an error occurred: Error detected while attempting to run job
When I went to Essbase, I found that when I launched the rule an error appeared:
ERROR - 1006059 - Invalid block header: Illegal block type -- Please use the IBH Locate/Fix utilities to find/fix the IBH problem.
I read that it could be an issue related to corrupted blocks. I'm not familiar with MXL and I read that there are commands that I could run. Someody could provide me help?

Error on Control Center while trying to run jobs
Hi,
I got a problem while trying to run the scheduled jobs or process flows.
We tried restarting the control center service manually. It is started without throwing any errors at the backend. But when I open the control center service and try to start or stop a job, its throwing the below error.

There are a lot of queues in DBA_Queues.
But how can we know which queues should be enabled and which queues should be disabled? As I observed, All the Exception queues are disabled and the reamining queues are enabled.
About the parameter aq_tm_processes, we have not changed the value of it. Previously, all the jobs used to execute perfectly with the same setting. So, I dont think the value is a problem.
Recently, we had the below problem in database, because of which all the jobs got stalled/hanged. The system DBA had resolved this problem by extending the SYSTEM tablespace. After that all the database is fine except the OWB jobs. Is there any impact on the on the owb jobs because of the below error?

I have recently installed the MSI KT6 Delta main-board with the VIA KT600 chipset On loading windows XP home edition the following error message appears:

I think the error messages is related to the on-board sound card software in the control panel, but have been unable to remove the error message. The sound card works fine.
CheersI think there is an autostart function of C-Media that you have disabled or is not working properly. Run MSCONFIG and check the autostart tab. Either you disable the C-media post or enable it. If the sound is OK I suggest you disable.
If you just want to get rid of the message, we can dive into the Registry, but we wait a little I think.
(Possibly Windows trying to handle the sound department since it might think it has better drivers. Find the latest for XP. Unzip or whatever, go to Device Manager and update drivers. ) -
How to disable keyboard illumination
I really like Expose. I really don't care for keyboard illumination. When I try to use the Expose keys (F9 and F10) I affect the keyboard illumination, but do not trigger Expose.
How can I disable keyboard illumination to allow me to use those keys for Expose.
Yes, I know that I can Function-F9 and Function-F10, but I'd rather have a single keystroke.
I've turned off keyboard illumination in the Keyboard system pref, but it still won't let me use those Expose keys.
Clues?

It seems that the Function key behaviors I loved so much on my G4 PowerBook are just hosed forever with the oh-so-nifty backlighting on the MacBook Pro.
It's kinda sad, because Expose is really useful and the backlit keyboard, while I'm sure it makes for an eye-catching demo, is at the edge of useless for touch typists.
Maybe Apple can be persuaded to reconsider, maybe flipping Expose and the backlit so that Expose is the one-key functionality and backlight controls will require the multi-key contortions.

If you go to your music and play a song and then stop, then go back to control center it will show you the last song/music. -
Disable keyboard in sleep mode
My MacBookPro - wich is my second mac so far - unfortunately has a problem staying in sleep mode whilst being carryied. For me, this problem i quite serious since the otherwise fine sleep mode capability of Apple Mac's is one of the things that made me choose to 'switch'.
What I am experiencing is this; When I close the lid and make the MBP go to sleep and then moves it, a slight pressure to the lid makes the screen touch the keyboard - wich makes the MBP wake up.
Consequently I have had the MBP opened to try to adjust the keyboard ( Oooh - no warranty anymore ) but just discovered that the keyboard could not be adjusted. Looking at the keyboard at a very low angle reveals the sinner; the arrowkeys and right shift is about 1-1,5 mm higher than the rest of the keys.
So - I would like to know if it is possibly to disable the keyboard when the MBP is put to sleep.
Is there a hidden setting somewhere or maybe som 3. party software that will do the trick.
I really miss the rapid 'bootup' from sleepmode and the possibility to just close the lid and stow the computer away.
As things are right now Im booting up and shutting down about 10-15 times a day. It gives me a lot of time to drink coffee - but if that was my primary need whilst working with my computer I would be using a PC.I know of no way to disable a USB keyboard while a Mac is asleep aside from disconnecting it.
Another approach is to make the keyboard unavailable with something like a keyboard tray that allows you to hide it under the desktop when not in use. Or one that lets you store it under the iMac.
But, the psychologist in me suggests a behavioral approach and teach the kittens to stay away from the computer. A squirt gun or spray bottle is a harmless way to teach them that this area is off limits. Squirt them and say NO firmly and quickly just saying NO will suffice. A few weeks of this and they should avoid the computer a together. Just do not spray your electronics!

while i was running boot camp to install windows 7 i had to cancel operation. Now my mac comes up black screen with a curser at top
First of all, start your Mac with the Alt key pressed until the boot manager apears. If your keyboard is wireless probably you should press the power button at the same time you start the Mac.
After, go to Bootcamp Assistant and remove the windows partition and do all the process again.
Remember to remove all the USB/Firewire/Thunderbolt devices that are attached to the Mac during the windows installation.
Once windows boots for first time, install windows support software with all the drivers.
IMPORTANT: If the windows partition doesn't boot correctly (Black screen with white blinking cursos at the left top corner) do this steps to boot windows:
1- Start the Windows Installation DVD at system start.
2- Click on Repair System, not install.
3- Select Command Prompt
4- Run these 3 commands: (Press enter for each command)
Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
Bootrec.exe /FixBoot
Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
5- Exit command line (type exit)
6- Click on Restart button.
7- Boot the Mac and you will see that It automaticaly loads windows

Yoga 2 Pro: auto disabling keyboard in laptop mode bug
Hello.
I have a problem with my Yoga: very often (even if notebook placed on table) in laptop mode its disabling keyboard and touchpad on several seconds and then enabling it again. This enable/disble (flap) occurs time to time, most often after computer power on.
In this case work with mail or surfing web in laptop is not possible.
Someone have a hint how to repair it or how to enable keyboard manually permanently? Laptop is still on warranty, not broken, didn’t fall, win 8.1.

since doing the 7.0.4 update i notice that my mobile data has doubled and i am running out of data mid month. I've disabled apps s not many running. Any suggestions?
I am having the same issue even with the newer 7.1. I have a 1-100 KB data push on both my husdand's and my phone every hour on the hour (i.e. my will be at :23 of the hour and his will be at :13 of the hour and it will change). This is whether we are on a WIFI and with all apps, background refreshes, push notifications, etc turned OFF.

I'm running Snow Leopard v 10.6 on a Macbook 4,1. I've got a 500 GB HD and 4GB of Ram. While trying to run the software update (to get me to 10.6.8, I think?) I keep getting an error message around 600 MB that says it's unable to be saved because the file might be corrupt and that it will try again when the software update is ran next time. Why am I getting this message? Is there a way to get the update (so I can eventually get to Lion), without going through the software update screen?

In Safari Preferences, General tab, set "Save downloaded files to: select destop, if it is not in thed rop down select other, then selcet Desktop from the left sidebar. After the download completes click on the installer package on your desktop and follow the prompts.
Also if possible use an ethernet conection as it is less prone to interference, thus less prone to corruption, and usually faster.

Just updated firefox. While trying to run it show error message : "The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\sqlite3.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." Tried to download and install new firefox, but it alway show that the file is corrupt
