Disable Media button while working

I think this maybe a feature request more than anything, but perhaps someone has a work around!
I have a comp with 200+ layers, around 40 or so have movs/mp4 etc and finding that everything is grinding to a halt when working. I don't need to see these vids while setting some stuff up and think a simple Disable Footage/UnPreview Media (or similar) button along the top of the timeline, next to Shy Layers for example, would be extremely useful. I wouldn't what them switched off entirely - perhaps just filled with a solid colour which could be set in Preferences.
Turning on and off manually is prone to error, I've tried giving the media content their own label colours and selecting that way but they are already grouped. Anyone else found this an issue and a quick solution?

WOW - look at that! Thanks Mylenium - I wish I'd asked two weeks ago (or, rather, 10 years ago)!! Adobe should buy this and build it in

  • Media Buttons not working

    Hi,
    I used to use ubuntu and my laptop's media buttons (rewind/prev, next, play/pause and stop) worked, and i could register them as keyboard shortcuts.  However, in Arch they don't.  I loaded up the ubuntu live cd, copied the entire X11 folder and, after backing up my own, copied that over.  this didn't work.  Where else would the information regarding my keyboard mapping be in ubuntu, or have i missed a file?  It's a satellite a50 if anyone needs to know, and i have not upgraded to the latest kernel, im 1 behind.
    thanks,
    Michael

    I've had a brief go at keytouch before, but i tried it again
    I tested every single device, regardless of how relevant it looked; nothing.  Still no input.

  • SOLVED!--Media Buttons not working and TVAP will NOT uninstall

    I have  a A660D-STNX2 running WIN 7 sp 1.
    The media buttons have stopped working and all threads concerning this have one reinstalling TVAP.  Trying that has not changed functionality.   I believe it is because I cannot uninstall TVAP.  Uninstall gives a an immediate error of RegDBGetItem failed (1) . Which I think means the registry does not contain the item to be removed.
    Any ideas will be appreciated.
    UPDATE!!
    Was able to restore backup of registry,  then could uninstall TVAP.  Installed updated TVAP (from web site) and buttons were assigned wrong,  went back to orginal TVAP from Toshiba Application Installer ({start}-{my toshiba}-{tai})
    All is well now.

    Hi mate,
    Wow, thats really good work! :)

  • Satellite E100-004 - Can I disable media buttons like mute, play pause

    My laptop is the Toshiba Satellite E100-004.
    is there a way do disable The multimedia Touch Panel (Media Buttons on top of keyboard - mute-media-play/pause-stop-rewind-forward-) ?
    thanx

    Hello
    Please don't be mad on my but I don't understand your question. These buttons are by default set to run with preinstalled Windows media player. If you don't like them simply don't touch them.
    I just know that you can change settings for browser and multimedia button and define which application should be open with these buttons.
    Anyway such option is not known to me.
    Why you want to disable these buttons?

  • MBA 13" media buttons not working with iTunes

    I just got my mba 13" and everything is great, but for some reason the media buttons do not work with itunes. I've tried them with vlc and other applications and they work fine. Any ideas how I can fix this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    No, it didn't work fine with VLC. Whenever I pressed "play/pause", it'll trigger iTune and the media buttons become the controller for both applications at the same time.
    What the %^&*..
    Cheers.

  • Qosmio X305-708 - Solved: Media Buttons not working after BIOS update

    I had this problem so I thought I would share in case anyone else encountered the same problem.
    Basically after installing BIOS 1.70 (in Windows 7 64bit) on my Qosmio X305-708, the media buttons remains on partially, as in they were dim, and they didn't work at all. The light even remained on when the computer was off (strangely only when plugged in). To solve this problem I reinstalled the BIOS through a boot disk (USB key), since then its been fine. Must of been a corrupt install I suppose.

    Hi Josh
    Thanks for this useful information and for the report about your experience.
    I have already noticed this Toshiba Value Added Package for Vista and have already read the More info .
    This option provides details about the single drivers and tools. For Toshiba Value Added Package I found this:
    "This package installs a range of important utilities.TOSHIBA Components Common Driver This module is an essential component on Windows Vista. It is required to make other TOSHIBA original programs work properly.

  • Disable gui buttons while excuting script

    hi,
    i have class that that calls script in one of methods
        synchronized(this){
             Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c start " + script.getCanonicalPath());
             p.waitFor();
        }I'm writting a swing gui above this class..
    This method is quite time consuming, so i use swingworker for this(code above is called from doInBackground() method)
    While i'm calling method above i would like to have buttons on my form disabled,
    so i used this code:
          okButton.setEnabled(false);
          cancelButton.setEnabled(false);
          InitSwingWorker sw = new InitSwingWorker();
          sw.execute();As swing worker finisher buttons are supposed to be enabled again, so i enable them in the done() method of swing worker
    public void done(){
                okButton.setEnabled(true);
                cancelButton.setEnabled(true);
            }And my problem is this:
    buttons disables (that's fine), but they don't stay disabled until executing of script is done. They are enabled right away, i can see that they were disabled for few milis maybe,
    but that's it.
    thanks for any help with this :)

    When you run a "start" command in the command processor it starts a background Windows process and returns immediately. It will probably work if you remove the "start".

  • Apple wireless keyboard media buttons not working despite software update

    Hi there,
    Yesterday I purchased an Apple wireless keyboard for use with my Mac Pro (10.5.8), and everything is working well except the top row of multimedia buttons (though the escape and eject keys do work). I downloaded and installed the Wireless Keyboard Update 2.0. After re-starting, the problem remained. As per Apple's support page suggestions, I opened the keyboard viewer and noticed that the viewer still shows the old usb keyboard setup--ie, shows the number pad. (Note that the usb keyboard is no longer plugged in). In the Input Menu for the keyboard, I've selected "US" rather than "US extended", and this doesn't help the problem either. Suggestions are appreciated!

    The new keyboards require 10.6.8 or later to map the function keys correctly.

  • Disable Shutdown Button while using Terminal Services

    When I remote desktop into the server remotely, the shutdown button shut's down the server.  Granted I have the reason for shutdown turned on, so some less skillful admin's have to fill in the reason and click okay before they really shutdown the server... but
    Is it possible to replace the shutdown button with a Log Off button for remote sessions or disable it all together?
    Seems like it could be a huge problem if I (or someone logged in as Admin) shutdown the server that's 4 hours away.

    Absolutely, we have had this since 2000 (though we do tend to change the name in each new policy editor) :-).
    In 2008 you need to use group policy and set the user config -> admin templates -> start menu and taskbar -> remove and prevent access to the shutdown, restart, sleep and hibernate comands = enabled
    You probably want to apply this to a machine OU with loopback policy so it only applies to terminal severs.
    You may also want to filter it to apply only to the remote desktop users group (this way it only applies when you logged in remotely).
    if you still need to shutdwon the remote machine when remotely connected then use ctrl-alt-end to bring up the remote SAS and the shutdown button is there in the bottom right hand corner.

  • Media keyboard button not working

    I have Toshiba Value added package but yet the media player button (between internet and play) isnt working and i dont know why and also the flash cards stopped appearing for some reason. What software do i need to let them working again?

    I have a Toshiba A100-530 and play, pause, forward and rewind buttons don't work. I've tried "TOSHIBA Controls" but only appears "Internet button" and "CD/DVD button", and those buttons work well.
    Media buttons neither work in Windows Media Player nor in Musicmatch Jukebox but several days ago they worked in both players. Any idea to solve this problem?
    I hope somebody can help me, thanks.

  • Satellite P305-S8832 - Media buttons don't work with Win7

    Hello Wise Friends,
    Recently I installed two brand new hard drives (500GB 7200 rpm OS/ 500GB 5400 rpm DATA) and I did a clean installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bits on my 3 1/2 Toshiba Satellite P305-S8832. Everything but the media buttons is working pretty well.
    I downloaded the drivers from the Toshiba repository including the Toshiba Software installer for Windows 7 and the toshiba valued package. Still those tactile buttons which are above the keyboard and between the speakers does not work, no light, no response, nothing. I have checked the bios.
    These buttons work out of the box with Ubuntu Linux, Windows XP and Windows Vista.
    Any advice?

    Hi
    Generally speaking, the Multimedia buttons are controlled by VAP (value added package) and the buttons should work after the installation of VAP.
    Found the drivers here:
    [Satellite P305-S8832 drivers|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2059997& rpn=PSPC0U&modelFilter=P305-S8832&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663#]
    It seems that there is also a newer version of VAP available.
    Check other newer Sat P series in order to get latest VAP version.
    Furthermore install the Hardware Setup. This tool lets you customize your hardware settings

    Hi Kamal,
    how to disable “Cancel and keep workitem in Inbox” button in the user decision.
    As far as i know this is not possible. Just recollected reading this [old thread.|http://mailman.mit.edu/pipermail/sap-wug/2004-September/014240.html]
    then the work item is regenerated for him alone.
    Again this is a standard behaviour, as soon as the workitem is executed by one of the responsible agents it is reserved for that person so that no one can perform any action on it unless the first person replaces it intentionally. Yes, it would have been a better option to have it replaced automatically on pressing "Cancel and keep the workitem in inbox" but this is the way the design is. It is the responsibility of the agent to replace it manually (using "Replace" button) after performing any action on the workitem including pressing "Cancel" button. You may need to take care of this in the user training.
    Additionally you can also schedule a report (may be once a day in the midnight) which can check for the reserved workitems and replace all of them using "SAP_WAPI_PUT_BACK_WORKITEM". This would make sure that the workitems are replaced to all users even if the user has accidentally forgot to replace the workitem. Again in this case the user cannot "Reserve" a workitem even if he/she wants to (as your scheduled report would replace it in the midnight).
    Thanks,

  • 6210 Navigator - disabling camera button?

    My new 6210 is driving me nuts.
    Even when the keypad is locked the camera button (on the botton right hand side) is active.
    This means that just about every time I take it out of my pocket or bag it is in camera mode.
    Is there a way to disable this button while the phone is locked and in standby mode?

    make sure you don't have your cam app running in the background. you can check that by pressing the c button for a few seconds it will display all running apps on your system. make sure you do not carry your phone with magnets near by, metal and such as this also may affect your phones performance.
