Disable mixed content security warning in IE?

The following security warning is displayed when I try to access an eLearning course in SumTotal using Internet Explorer 8:
My content is an AICC package published from Captivate 8. My project does not reference any external links, so why am I getting this warning? Is there a way to disable it?

Perhaps the external links are in the Adobe codebase where you cannot see them.

  • Disable "Open File Security Warning"

    Hi whenever I try to open a file from the local hardrive I get the "Open File Security Warning" asking me whether I want to open the file or not. This is getting rather annoying. I searched online but everything I found seems to be dealing with network shares and I am not using that. Just a file on the local hard drive in the computer I am using to the right of me. I remember in my last install I turned it off somehow, but for the life of me I can't figure out how I did it. Anybody have any ideas? Or is this here to stay?

    Windows 7 - Launching unsafe files is in this path;
    IE -> Internet Options -> Security tab -> Custome Level -> Scroll down in Settings -> Look for radio button "Launching applications and unsafe files (not secure)".
    Don't know if it solves the problem or not but option is there.
    Great, on Windows 8 x64 this is an option I can find and set.
    It will generate a nasty warning in the system tray. And does not solve the problem:
    I have downloaded a warez archive and extracted it. The resulting .exe file is a wrapped program which will extract everything to my choosings. I've used it before.
    When I try to run the program, all I get is:
    Windows Security
    These files can't be opened
    Your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened.
    Show details | Close
    I do not use IE, I use chrome. What is this strange behaviour?? :(

  • How to disable the annoying security warning for all users in Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi,
    The employees from the administration complain all the time about the different types of security warning that they get when trying to run some applications which are used frequently.
    Since the number of the users is too big it is unfeasible to go through all the users and disable the User Access Control at their account settings.
    Is it possible to achieve this through given account policy settings. I want to perform the changes on the server so it applies to *all* (or maybe those of Administration department) users.
    One useful information here can be the following: we use 2 different severs, the application which cause the errors are in the terminal server, and the users are in the main server. Where should I perform the changes?
    Best,
    D

    Hiya,
    It could sound like that one indeed. There are a few options to go for, however it should be fairly easy to find out :)
    Create a test GPO and apply to a limited amount of users. GPUpdate and verify that the GPO has been applied using rsop.msc
    Then open the application to test and see if it has the desired effect. You might need to change more than one setting, depending on the application and desired behavior.

  • How can I whitelist specific URLs to disable mixed content blocking? (New Feature in FF23)

    For a few of the enterprise products I use, the mixed content blocker disables my ability to use these tools. While I understand I can toggle to allow mixed-content -- I would like to be able to whitelist the URLs that I use regularly that I don't want content blocking enabled. Is this possible?

    the content toggle button works but is not really the solution for enterprise products. A white-list would be a real good solution...
    So I add a my white-list request here too

  • Mixed Content Blocking preferences not remembered

    I want to permanently disable Mixed content Blocking on certain websites. When I click "Disable protection on this page", Firefox seems to remember the choice till the end of the session. After restart I have to disable it again. Is there a way to remember these settings permanently, without turning the entire feature off?

    In most cases that is not what the user needs. He/she should be able to disable this feature only on the selected websites. In my case, my intranet uses the filedepot plugin for the Drupal which was being blocked by the Firefox. It is annoying as we need to use it very often and to get it work, every time we need to click on the "Disable Protection on this page". However I'd need Firefox to block it on any other (especially 3rd party) websites.
    So as @maaxxify requests, a feature to disable this on certain website is more desirable.

  • How to disable IE Security Warning on opening a "local" visio file with Visio Viewer ActiveX?

    Hello all,
    Everyone knows that Microsoft released ActiveX based Visio Viewer for free and allow the users to open Visio drawing and view/print via IE browser.
    The problem that I am facing is that some users are complaining about IE browser's security warning on "active content to run in files on My Computer".
    It means that opening .VSD files from the network, internet, intranet would be all OK but if the user wants to open .VSD files from the local hard drive (or open it as a mail attachment, which will extract it to a temp folder), it prompt the user to select "Allow Blocked Content" EVERYTIME they open them.
    I know that I can GLOBALLY disable this warning by going through Tools - Internet Options - Security section and enable "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer" but I hope that there is a way (or workaround) to allow them by file type or location, etc.
    Questions:
    1. Is there any way to disable those warning for all .VSD only while we still UNCHECK the option on Internet Options?
    2. Is there any 3rd party Win32 based viewer which wouldn't have those restriction?
    3. Is it safe assumption that McAfee VirusScan and Host IPS protection is sufficient enough to remove the IE's security warning feature?
    Thanks in advance?
    Young-

    Are you able to host/launch the VSD file via an HTM page? In that case you can format the HTM page as shown below. This will trick IE into thinking it is loading the file off of a website. Commonly called 'mark of the web'.

  • Using RSLs results in a mixed content warning in Chrome?  When did this start happening?

    Hello All,
    We've got a secure (delivered via HTTPS) Flex app that has been using RSLs for years.  Just today, I noticed that Chrome was showing a "mixed content" warning for our app.
    We're not getting this same warning in IE or Firefox.  I poured over the requests in Chrome's developer tools, and there were only two HTTP requests:
    http://fpdownload.adobe.com/pub/swz/crossdomain.xml
    http://fpdownload.adobe.com/crossdomain.xml
    These both appear related to the Adobe hosted Flex RSLs.
    I changed my compilation options to merge libraries into code (no RSLs).  As soon as I did this, the mixed content warning in Chrome went away (and so did these two HTTP requests).  Switch back to RSLs, and the mixed content warning comes back (along with the two HTTP requests).
    Turning off RSLs makes my app quite a bit fatter--over 600kb fatter.  That's a lot.  I want to use RSLs, like we've been doing in the past!  How can this be fixed?
    Chrome Version: 22.0.1229.94 m
    Flash Player Version: 11.4.31.110
    OS Version: Windows 7, 64 bit
    Complete User-Agent string:
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/22.0.1229.94 Safari/537.4

    After looking through the Build->Properties->Flex Build Path->Library Path settings, I found that the RSLs each have a "Deployment Path/URL" and "Policy file URL" value.  For instance, for the text layout RSL, we've got:
    Deployment Path/URL: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/pub/swz/tlf/1.0.0.595/textLayout_1.0.0.595.swz
    Policy file URL: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/pub/swz/crossdomain.xml
    I went through each of the RSLs and changed both deployment and policy URLs to use HTTPS.
    Once I did this, the mixed content warning in Chrome stopped showing up.
    But I'm still at a loss as to why this started happening in the first place.  As I indicated in my original post, we've had this app running for years and this is the first we've noticed a mixed content warning in any browser.  What's going on?

  • Firefox Security Certificate reports mixed content on secure page: Production & Nightly

    Hi Firefox,
    I’ve been doing some searching but have been unable to find this issue being discussed in a similar case.
    We (the University of Toronto) are running Microsoft’s Office365 service to provide email to our students. The security issue presents itself after several seconds after the OWA page loads and occurs regardless of user activity on the page.
    Initially, as the page loads, the browser indicates that the site is secure. Shortly thereafter the browser indicates that there are insecure elements on the page. However, from our diagnostics (Firefox developer tools, Firebug, Wireshark) we cannot identify any non-encrypted traffic. We have contacted Microsoft support and they have assured us that our connections to their servers are secure.
    The issue presents shortly after loading the inbox view of OWA. Initially the page is shown as being secure:
    [Figure1: page secure notice] [Figure2: Security details when secure]
    However shortly after the page loads, with no user action, the indicator will change to show the page has security issues.
    [Figure 3: Mixed content warning] [Figure 4: Security Details]
    The indication is that there is a problem with mixed content. The certificate is unchanged.
    [Figure 5: Certificate Details]
    The problem has been reproduced as of May 6, 2014 on a fully patched version of Windows 8.1 running a clean install of nightly; on a fully patched Windows 7 running a clean install of production Firefox 29.0; and on OSX 10.9.2 on a factory reset re-install of production 29.0.
    I’m wondering if anyone can shed any light on this behavior and advise a path to incorporate corrective action into subsequent releases of Firefox?
    Thanks in advance,
    Luke

    Plenty of things show, however the page is still shown as secure after all activity stops in the console the page is still secure.
    These are the last for console events:
    POST https://pod51030.outlook.com/owa/service.svc [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 160ms]
    POST https://pod51030.outlook.com/owa/service.svc [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 200ms]
    POST https://pod51030.outlook.com/owa/service.svc [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 160ms]
    POST https://pod51030.outlook.com/owa/service.svc [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 1072ms]
    a few seconds later is when the warning indicator appears. There is no console event around this time.

  • How to disable Java Security Warning

    Hello Friends
    I am running different versions of JRE on a machine due to specific application exigencies.
    However I noticed that when entering on the application using the lower JRE Version,the following warning message is being obtained.
    The application requires an earlier version of Java.Do you want to continue.
    I have searched on the net..and someone advised to disable next generation Java Plug in.Apparently it solves the issue.
    But I see several advantages we get by enabling this option.Can we disable it or any other way..I can avoid seeing this warning message.
    Regards
    Kam.

    Hi Stuart,
    in Security Warning is text "The certificate used to identify this application has expired". When selected "More Information" -> "View Certificate Details" an certificate for SAP America Inc is visible. Validity of certificate is:
    [From: Thu Sep 12 03:00:00 EEST 2013,
    To: Fri May 30 02:59:59 EEST 2014]
    When I open Router Maintenance in another SAP ME installation validity of certificate is:
    [From: Thu May 27 03:00:00 EEST 2010,
    To: Sun May 27 02:59:59 EEST 2012]
    Where this certificate is located in application server? Is it in code of SAP ME in application server?
    Is it not possible to renew certificate?`

  • How to disable security warning "Your current security settings put your computer at risk"

    Hi,
    I wonder if able to disable the security warning bar at the bottom of the IE window.  I enabled the ActiveX control and plug-ins in the IE Option settings, this caused the  security warning "Your current security settings put
    your computer at risk" pop up whenever load the pages.  Is there a way can turn off this warning?
    Thanks a lot for helping!

    That is not an option for Koreans...
    In Korea, most of commercial, financial, or governmental operations need to be done on the Internet. In early 2000's, IE could not support high security outside US due to US laws (that was stupid, but happened) , so Korean sites developed cryptography ActiveX
    controls to circumvent it. Korean government made laws to force all sites to use those kind of ActiveX controls at that time.
    A decade has passed, and now the stupid US law has been repealed. But the cryptography ActiveX industry has become so strong (probably bribing the high officers in the government), that all Korean sites are still using those kind of ActiveX controls. And
    you know, they require Windows and IE. Recently some sites started to support other browsers, but still the majority requires IE and ActiveX.
    So, if you live in Korea, you have no choice but to use IE on Windows to get things done, and almost all sites popup ActiveX installation dialogues constantly. If you do not change the security settings, when you approve the installation, the whole site
    refreshes. That is time-consuming and frustrating.
    To keep my mental heath, I deal with all Korean sites in a virtual machine. To avoid the refresh problem, I have changed the security settings from "prompt" to "enable". The "Your security is at risk..." banner at the bottom
    of IE is surely annoying. I hope Microsoft let us either remove that banner or remove the support of ActiveX controls altogether.

  • How do I disable Security Warning - "The application requires an earlier...

    h4. How do I disable Security Warning - "The application requires an earlier Java. Do you want to continue?" ?
    The message is correct - our ESS application requires 1.4.08, but this message has begun with 1.6.11. Earlier versions of 1.6 did not produce this. Is there any setting anywhere that I can use to prevent this from displaying for my users?
    Thanks.

    The simplest approach is to only have the latest version of Java "enabled".
    A fix, step-by-step, is as follows:
    1. Close all browsers;
    2. Make sure you are running latest version of Java (check this via Java Control Panel in Windows Control Panel, or, more simply, just download latest version from Java.com) (as of today's date, the latest version is 1.6.0_14);
    3. Open Java Control Panel (via Windows Control Panel);
    4. Go to "Java" tab;
    5. Click on "View" in "Java Applet Runtime Settings" of that tab;
    6. Uncheck "Enabled" for every version of Java listed EXCEPT for the latest version;
    7. Click "OK", etc., and thus close Java Control Panel;
    8. Restart browser(s);
    9. Done.
    Alternatively, you can Uninstall all earlier versions via Windows Control Panel - Programs and Features (This is in Vista; similarly in other Windows versions)... Select previous versions and uninstall them. Leave the most current version.
    This was a puzzling one, at least for me. Took a while to figure out.
