Disable Non SSL for Fusion Middleware Instance

There are plenty of good information for implementing the SSL (https) for a Instance, but very little on how to disable the Non-SSL (http) access. Right now, I have both https and http access to site. How do I stop the http (non-SSL) access?
Thanks,
Ron

  • Disable non-SSL session tracking?

    Hi, all,
    I wonder if one can disable all session tracking in JSP's whenever SSL is not being used? I would like to turn off all cookie-setting and URL-rewriting and use SSL-session tracking only (if I use session-tracking at all on a given page). I also want to specify this behavior programmatically (inside my JSP's) and not in my server's config files.
    I'm basically concerned that if my user leaves one of my HTTPS pages, they will still retain a non-secure cookie with their session information. This seems to be indeed the default behavior: when I run my tests and transition from an HTTPS page to an HTTP one, the browser does store a cookie. I know I can invalidate the session as the next step, but I'd rather have the cookie not being set altogether to begin with. Imagine the situation where the user leaves my HTTPS page for a totally different (HTTP) website: in this setting I won't get a chance to invalidate the session and delete the cookie.
    Any ideas, therefore, on how to programmatically disable non-SSL session-tracking?
    Thanks,
    Dmitri.

    I don't think you can do this programatically.
    However I also don't think it is a problem.
    Cookies are related to zone names aren't they?
    http://mysite and https://mysite are two different
    zones as far as cookies are concerned. One should
    not be able to see the other.
    It issues a new cookie for the http site you are just
    navigating to. That cookie has nothing to do with
    the secure site you just came from, and shouldn't be
    able to tell them any info about the secure site.
    I think you are worrying about something that isn't
    really there.
    What is your concern? That they pick up a JSESSIONID
    from the cookie and can then pretend to be a
    different user?Yes. A cookie is transmitted and stored unencrypted, I imagine (in any case, it should be more easily crackable than SSL). I wish Sun came up with an extension to the Session API where you would be able to explicitly specify which session-tracking protocols you want used and which ones you don't. At the moment their API abstracts and manages too much detail for you.
    I mean, if my site is supposed to be secure while I'm using SSL, then you'd expect that no information about those secure sessions should leak outside the SSL protocol, wouldn't you say?

  • How to Install and apply the Diagnostic Pack for Fusion Middleware on EM

    Hi
    we have installed ADF Runtime along with Enterprise Manager on IBM-AIX-64-BIT-7.1 version. now, we are planning to install the Diagnostic pack for fusion middleware inorder to monitor the ADF Application deployed on weblogic 10.3.6 server from Enterprise Console. Can anybody suggest, the diagnostic pack for fusion middleware compatability version for our OS,weblogic 10.3.6.
    Regards
    Nagaraju Manchala

    Hi Nagaraju,
    The packs just represent packaged licensing and usually don't need to be installed. However, I assume you are referring to the Diagnostic Pack for Oracle Middleware. If so, the functionality is actually not part of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control. All of the WLS and FMW management features are licensed via WebLogic Management Pack EE or the appropriate FMW pack licensing such as SOA Management Pack EE for SOA Suite and OSB and Management Pack for Oracle WebCenter for WebCenter and UCM. The Diagnostic Pack for Oracle Middleware includes the standalone AD4J and JRMC diagnostic tools which can be downloaded from e-Delivery and installed separately. It is solely dedicated to diagnostics at the end of the day as opposed to monitoring.
    Most prefer WLS Management Pack EE for monitoring and managing WebLogic and Oracle App Server apps along with the RUEI product, but you definitely can take advantage of AD4J and JRMC today. It should be noted that WLS Management Pack EE allows the usage of JVM diagnostics as well which is much broader in its 24/7 diagnostics and monitoring capabilities at the JVM level than the standalone AD4J component. In addition, the diagnostics is supplemented with the middleware diagnostics advisor, performance summary and composite application dashboards, diagnostic snapshots, and other functionality. In addition, WLS Management Pack EE includes all of the configuration management (config compare, compliance policies, patch tracking, etc) and lifecycle management features (domain and Java EE provisioning, patch automation). Anyways, it is probably just easier to take a look at the self-running demos for the features on OTN under EM and YouTube in the WebLogic Server or Oracle Learning channels.
    Also, to your oriiginal point, you don't need to install the pack. You can discover WLS and FMW targets out of the box immediately. There are additional components you can download under the EM umbrella such as Real User Experience Insight (RUEI - monitors actual user activity on the front-end and associates it with EMCC targets) and Business Transaction Management (BTM - formerly AmberPoint, which provides payload aware business transaction monitoring). Both RUEI and BTM data integrates with EMCC via the Business Application dashboard, so you can still have a single console view of your application even though the RUEI and BTM components are installed separately.

  • Trouble with Documentation ZIP File for Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.6)

    Hello,
    I downloaded E23943_01.zip, which is the 2.5 GB documentation set for Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.6), WebLogic 10.3.6. WinZip will not open the ZIP file due to this error: too many entries in central directory according to end of central directory info. My other ZIP programs report essentially the same error as WinZip.
    When I first encountered the error, I assumed my download did not complete correctly; but I downloaded it three times, with the same error. All three downloads had the same file sizes, and I even binary-compared two of them, which were identical.
    I am suspicious that the source E23943_01.zip file on Oracle's site is corrupt. Can anyone corroborate or refute my suspicions?
    Thanks,

  • Cannot start Enterprise Manager for Fusion Middleware 11g

    Dear all,
    Because I want to install Oracle EGRCM v8.0.1 in Linux x86_64, so I installed Oracle Weblogic 11gR1 and SOA Suite 11g first.
    After installation successfully, I created a base_domain as default, and can start weblogic administration server ( http://localhost:7001/console ) successfully.
    Now I want to use Enterprise Manager for Fusion Middleware 11g. Per "*Oracle® Fusion Middleware Administrator's Guide 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)*", the EM should be available now and the access URL should be http://localhost:7001/em . But when I try to access it, the following error returned:
    Error 404--Not Found
    From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    +10.4.5 404 Not Found+
    The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
    If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
    So I try to start with emctl in *$MW_HOME/oracle_common/bin/*, the error is as following:
    +./emctl: line 387 /d02/Middleware/oracle_common/perl/bin/perl: No such file or directory+.
    I check the path and find out that no directory named "perl" under */d02/Middleware/oracle_common*. So I try to copy the necessary dir from the dir installed Oracle Database 11g ( *$ORACLE_HOME* ), but it returns following error:
    OC4J Configuration issue. /d02/Middleware/oracle_common/sysman/j2ee not found.
    I try to copy necessary dir from *$ORACLE_HOME* but still cannot start EM.
    Please give some advise about how I can start EM for Fusion Middleware 11g, any idea is appreciate!

    See this post of mine: Re: Fusion Middleware Console
    For any SOA Domain, unless you have Enterprise Manager Facet enabled (during domain creation process or adding later on by extending it), you will not be able to access the EM Console. For quick testing, open config.xml file for your domain and check the modules specially em module as shown below. It should be there. Ravi JeggaHello Ravi:
    I too like Kenny experienced the EXACT same thing this morning. I was trying to figure out how to modify the formsweb.cfg and I remembered from when I install Oracle9i/10g AS a few years back, that it was on the Enterprise Manager Console for forms (different than the EM for the database). Well that's different than the consoles for Weblogic Server and Weblogic Server for Forms. I ran into the same errors Kenny did, and I followed your steps except that I did install into the domain the Enterprise Manager so when I looked at the config.xml I do see the same code that you posted above. Yet I still get the error when accessing
    http://computer:7001/em
    Also when trying to run emctl (I copied the perl directory from the database) and same error as Kenny. Any tips/clues?
    I'm running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Oracle 11g (database, Fusion Middleware).

  • Structure Design for fusion middleware &weblogic project

    Hi All,
    we have new project for upgrade forms & reports up to 11g as fusion middleware
    I searched a lot to find proper design to start implementing phase...
    I got good design
    2 servers will run 2x independent Oracle fusion middleware (forms and reports) with weblogic on it,
    and we need one load balancer
    User will hit the load balancer and load balancer will direct the connections to the individual server in a round robin manner.
    So could you please more clarification for the above scenario with details.
    Second Scenario....
    there is scenario with using oracle cluster .....
    so please I need more details about this scenario.
    and could you please provide the license cost of cluster.
    thanks,
    Ahmed.

    Hi Ravi,
    we set with oracle consultant in OFM.
    and he advice us to do cluster in report level
    e.g we have to server...
    serverA create report instance let us say report1, and in another server create report instance named reprot2
    between tow reports create on node as cluster named reports.qnet,
    requests comes to reports.qnet and reports.qnet will assign requested to report1 and report2.
    but i am confuse, could you please advice,

  • Docs for Fusion Middleware

    Hi All,
    Can someone help me locating a PDF doc about Oracle Fusion Middleware with architectural details and components. I am just finding html pages but need something in one doc for ease.
    Thanks in advance

    Sander,
    Thanks for your reply. Actually, I don't need docs for Application Server. I need doc which can explain all about Oracle Fusion Middleware Concepts, Architecture, Components, Application (Not mandatory), etc in the form of a Presentable doc like PDF. Application Server is just a part of it. And I'd preferably need the latest version's docs.

  • Disable Non-SSL

    Hi. After not being successfull using EPG, I installed and configured HTTP Server (11.2). Also configured it to listen as SSL (port 4443). How do I disable port 7777 (default, non-secure)?
    I know there is an option on APEX Admin to require SSL, but it still keeps loading the login page. I would like to stop listening on port 7777.
    How should I do it? Besides, what is the best way to disable the EPG listening too (it is working on both configs, HTTP Server, on port 4443, and EPG on port 4458. Http on EPG is already disabled, but how do I disable https?)?
    Thanks in advance.

    Try DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT(0);
    Another good option in you app, is to check the protocol, and if it's HTTP, then redirect to HTTPS. The advantage is that it silently changes to https rather than just dieing.
    Something like:
    -- dump all your gateway vars to see whats available to construct https url
    -- owa_util.print_cgi_env
    if OWA_UTIL.get_cgi_env ('SERVER_PROTOCOL') like 'HTTP/%'  -- HTTP/1.1
    then l_https := 'https://'||
             replace(OWA_UTIL.get_cgi_env ('HTTP_HOST'), ':7777', ':4443')||   -- hyhost:7777 --> myhost:4333
             OWA_UTIL.get_cgi_env ('SCRIPT_NAME')||  -- /apex
             OWA_UTIL.get_cgi_env ('PATH_INFO')||    -- /f
             OWA_UTIL.get_cgi_env ('QUERY_STRING'); -- p=222:1:0:::::
         owa_util.redirect_url(l_https,'TRUE');

    our company will do implantation for fusion middleware (forms & reports).
    we set with consultant to design the proper structure, design contain one load balancer and 2 servers, and one server in duster recovery.
    during explanation, he told us will be a cluster between reports in tow servers to reduce the hits.
    I can not able to understand this point, and if this correct ,
    why there is a cluster between forms in tow servers as well?

    Hi Maahjoor,
    Try Starting Report Builder using the rwbuilder.bat found in the %ORACLE_INSTANCE%\config\reports\bin\ directory.
    If you still getting issues
    a)Backup the %ORACLE_INSTANCE%\config\reports\bin\ rwbuilder.bat file
    b)Now modify rwbuilder.bat file from the %ORACLE_HOME%\bin\rwbuilder.bat file,by manually hard-coding the correct paths for:
    $$Instance.directory$$\config\reports\bin\reports.bat
    $$Instance.oracle_home$$\bin\rwbuilder.exeThat is, if your instance home is C:\Oracle\Middleware\as_inst1, then change the rwbuilder.bat to reflect:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\as_inst1\config\reports\bin\reports.bat
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\as_inst1\bin\rwbuilder.exe
    c)Then, re-execute the modified rwbuilder.bat file from the %ORACLE_INSTANCE%\config\reports\bin\ .
    If it still doesnt work...
