Disable On Access Scanning during backups

I have SCCM 2012 and running SCEP. I have file servers with multiple volumes that when backed up the SCEP on access engine adds alot of overhead to the process. Is there a way to run a script pre and post backup to disable the scanning? if not I am now disabling
the scanning and want to run a weekly on demand scan. For the on demand scan , is it possible to run it in some sort of test mode, so I can see what it thinks is malware and then I can add need exclusions.

Hi,
I think you could use Orchestrator 2012 to create a runbook.
When the runbook detect the backup process is running ,then Taskkill the scanning process.

Sophos for Mac on-access scanning disabled.

While it may have fixed itself for the previous user, it hasn't for me. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Sophos. Still won't let me turn on access scanning. And it won't set any preferences I try. Says sophos failed to set preferences. There seems to be no way to turn off on access scanning. It says "on access scanning is turned off. The only button available is grayed out, but says "stop scanning".

Hello, Yesterday my sophos on access scanning became disabled. I cannot change anything in the preference since they are grayed out. I have a MacBook Pro with Maverick OS X 10.9.2 and I am using Sophos Anti Virus version 8.0.23. On-access scanning disabled itself, will not allow me to turn it back on; on-demand scan not working

Hello and thank you in advance to anyone who can help me. I have two issues: (1) On-access scanning turned itself off and I am not able to turn it back on. When I clicked on the button next to "the on-access scanner is off", it just says "Start scanning" and is greyed. (2) When I try to do an on-demand scan, it scans for less than a second and stops. Message says no threats but "issues detected".Here is a log I came across if this helps: Sophos Anti-Virus

Thanks for sending the logs to us, it was very valuable. The error that you (and probably others) are seeing is definitely an issue we've improved and likely fixed in the 9.4 release that is currently in preview. We expect to release this version to everyone at the end of this month, if everything goes to plan.

Disable User Access

We have a number of changes we are looking to implement and estimate we would need a 3 hour window to complete. We are proposing the changes be completed during normal hours of operation as it will require support from different teams in our IT department should we run into any issues. We will send a notification informing the users of the planned outage but do we have any way to disable their access so they are unable to connect at all? Our security setup controls access using a combination of team and data access profiles which would require of number of changes so I was looking for an easier solution if possible.

If you have solved then please close in a correct manner these threads assingning a "correct answer" and eventually add the solution if not present, read please How to close a discussion and why and Are you a responsible person in SCN?
About this issue, putting offline the appsets you're sure that no users can send data or execute packages only admins are allowed to work.
If you have management console installed you can see which users are connected and contact these to exit.
You can also prepare, useful for the future update queries to automatically backup the involved tables, exclude all the user from the teams, hoping you give the security rights to the teams and not to the users, so they will exists in BPC but without rights and when finished to restore the tables.

My 4th gen ipod won't backup after it froze during a software update to 4.3.5. I had to cancel the backup at the start of the update and now it won't let me backup to my computer, freezes during backup or says my backup is corrupted.

I pressed 'X' during a backup after it froze during an update to software 4.3.5 and now it won't let me backup on my computer. Does anyone have any ideas? It either freezes during backup or says my 'backup is corrupted' or 'I cannot backup on my computer'. I have had to abort quite a few attempted backups since the initial problem, which I think has made it worse. I have already tried restoring my ipod, deleting the aborted backup from my preferences/devices in itunes and deleting it from my user/appdata/etc on my PC hard drive. Any ideas what to try next?

After hours of frustration I eventually decided to restore. I lost my apps, but i didn't have many and was able to reinstall them for free. During the restore it updated my ipod to the latest software 4.3.5, which i think may have caused the initial problem, but the backup issue remains. Sometimes it stops me from syncing and other times it allows me to skip the backup, but still says that i can't backup on my computer. I'm worried that it has done something to my computer as it took me six hours to do a Bullguard scan, which only normally takes about an hour. The scan didn't come up with any viruses, but it stalled at system32 for ages. The only other thing that i can think of is that a demo CD I uploaded may have caused a problem. iTunes couldn't find a track listing for it but gave me a few different options. i thought I had to choose one to continue, so did that then changed the track details to the correct tracks. I'm now worried that may have introduced an issue or caused a glitch in iTunes. How paranoid am I sounding?

Macbook Pro freezes during Backup

Hi Folks,
I have just upgraded my previous TC 500 GB to a 2 TB version and have since been having a serious problem:
My Macbook freezes (colorful ring of death) completely during backups (only the first backup went through smoothly, all other did not).
The following applies:
1) My wife's Macbook does not have these problems during backup on the same time-capsule
2) My relevant file "sparsebundle" ist about 310 GB big
3) It NOT make a difference, if I'm connected by wifi or by ethernet -> the mac hangs/freezes either way
4) I tried deleting my (not my wife's) sparsebundle yesterday and then doing a "full reset" of the TC. After that I wanted to backup freshly by ethernet over night (wifi was switched off). This morning I found my mac frozen w/o any successful backup done.
5) no logs could be found in the logging widget -> it was empty
6) I ran the long version of Apple Hardware Test just to be sure I wasn't having a RAM issue. But all is well there, no problems found.
7) I did not manually fill in the TC settings again, the TC 2TB was connected to my old TC 500GB and took its settings from it.
My infrastructure is:
2x Airport Express as repeaters running on 7.4.2.
1x 2TB Time Capsule running on 7.5. (but like I said, disabling wifi and connecting by cable made no difference.)

Turns out it was faulty RAM, eventhough they did not show up as faulty in Apple's Hardware Test

CSM Bridging during Backups?

I have two questions? This might seem like some dumb questions but, we have dual CSM's 4.2.6 in 6509 IOS 12.2(18)SXF in bridge mode. 1st question is, we have backup clients on one network and the host on another. The host is on a vlan behind the CSM and the backup client is not. Correct me if im wrong, but from my knowledge traffic should not go through the CSM when accessing the server RIP's directly. But why, does the CSM portchannel260 get impacted during backups? Shouldn't it route through the MSFC first? 2nd question if the backup server and the host is both on the same network but different vlans will it still communicate thru the MSFC or CSM? Please advise...Thx!

Usually in bridge mode, the default gateway of a device is a router (often the MSFC) behind the CSM. The CSM bridge the front vlan with the backend vlan.
So, even if the MSFC is the device that does the routing between your source and destination, this traffic still needs to go through the CSM.
Same if the source and destination are in the same subnet. If the source is in vlan X and the destination in vlan Y using the same subnet with the CSM bridging the 2, the traffic still needs to go through the CSM.
So, you should look at the CSM as an external device even if it sits in the same chassis as the MSFC.

Guided access is enabled on my Iphone5 unintentionally. I found this only after upgrading my phone to iOS8. Since I do not have a password to disable guided access I am stuck. Kindly help.

I cannot see where you can enable Guided Access unintentionally. See this information from the User Guide.
Guided Access
Guided Access helps an iPhone user stay focused on a task. Guided Access dedicates iPhone to a single app, and lets you control app features. Use Guided Access to:
Temporarily restrict iPhone to a particular app
Disable areas of the screen that aren’t relevant to a task, or areas where an accidental gesture might cause a distraction
Limit how long someone can use an app
Disable the iPhone Sleep/Wake or volume buttons
Turn on Guided Access.
Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access, where you can:
Turn Guided Access on or off
Set a passcode that controls the use of Guided Access and prevents someone from leaving a session
Set whether other accessibility shortcuts are available during a session
Start a Guided Access session.
After turning on Guided Access, open the app you want to run, then triple-click the Home button. Adjust settings for the session, then click Start.
Disable app controls and areas of the app screen:
Draw a circle or rectangle around any part of the screen you want to disable. Drag the mask into position or use the handles to adjust its size.
Enable the Sleep/Wake or volume buttons:
Tap Options below Hardware Buttons.
Keep iPhone from switching from portrait to landscape or from responding to other motions:
Tap Options, then turn off Motion.
Prevent typing:
Tap Options, then turn off Keyboards.
Ignore all screen touches:
Turn off Touch at the bottom of the screen.
Set a session time limit:
Tap Time Limit Options at the bottom of the screen.
Triple-click the Home button, then enter the Guided Access passcode, or use Touch ID.

Which all archive backedup during backup?

i took full backup of DB by rman along with archivelog,
so hown can i check which all archive backedup during backup? i thought list backup will give but not sure and also could not check as dont have RMAN DB.
i dont have any RMAN DB now so plz reply with example if possible.

How do I access old iCloud backups?

This forum interface is not exactly user intuitive, so I apologize beforehand if this question has been asked hundreds of times already.
I lost my iPhone 4 near the end last year, and purchased a new iPhone 4S to replace it. After using the new iPhone for a couple of months, I've started getting notifications that my iCLoud storage is full, and that I should purchase more storage. When I enter 'Manage Backups' for iCloud, I see that I have two backups - one recent backup that is 1.5GB large, and an old backup that is 3.1GB large. This larger backup was made before I lost my phone, and therefore this is great news - it means I might get back all my old photos and whatever else might be on there. Also, if I can get back those files I want, I can delete the old backup and won't have any problems with running out of storage for a while. Therefore, some questions arise:
1. How do I actually access the old backup? I don't seem to be able to open it in the iCloud site, download it to my hard-drive, or open it with the iCloud utility for Windows. All I want to do is to see which files and materials from the old backup that I would want to salvage, and throw away the rest, but how do I do this? I do not want to overwrite my current phone settings or files, since I've been using the new phone for a few months now and have a lot of new settings, contacts, etc, that I do not want to overwrite. Mostly I'm interested in getting my photos back.
2. If it is not possible to actually access the old backups, why is this? Is there a policy that anyone knows of from Apple? I can't imagine actually buying more storage space in the cloud, as my phone keeps suggesting, if I'm not even given access to the data I back up.

How can I disable the access to windows 2000(O.S.) from LabView?

I need to disable the access to windows when an application (exe), created by LabView, is running. When the application is running, the user can not acces to windows (for example, execute another application) until he stops the application.

Hi Francesc,
There are a couple of options for this. One of them could be calling Windows OS activex components and making the Desktop invisible through labVIEW and then bringing it back on after the LabVIEW execution is stopped.
The other option is to modify user settings on the target machine. I have tried this on windows 2000 and it works.
Run "gpedit.msc" from your start menu. In the Group Policy template choose the user configuration that you wish to make the settings for. Expand User Configuration , expand Administrative Templates , and then expand System. Choose 'Custom user interface'
In this panel select 'Enabled' and enter the interface file name, in this case C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Labview 6.1.exe. (or your own filepath\App
lication.exe). Reboot the machine.
This replaces the default windows shell (explorer.exe) with your LabVIEW executable. When the operator logs on, the only thing on his screen is the Labview application. No desktop, no taskbar, no start button.
This can also be done through LabVIEW using register-level programming. But it would be a more complex approach.

How can I access a calendar backup from my old iPhone?
I recently had to get a replacement iPhone 4. The tech at the Apple Store thought that I might have had a software problem and recommended that I not "restore from backup," but start this phone as a new device and just sync the apps and what-not. My calendar on my computer was different than the one on my old phone, though, and now I need the data from my old iPhone calendar. I did back up my old phone just prior to taking it to the Apple Store.

Well what you can do is update to ios5 then use icloud to sync your calandar up to your phone then restore your phone as new and when prompted in the new phone setup put in your icloud username and password and you will have your calandar events back.

I recently replaced my hard drive. When I reinstalled os I am unable to access my old backups. I can see them, but when I try to copy them over it won't let me.

Is there any way for me to access my old backups. I can see them but am unable to restore them, or copy them over.

How were the backup created?
