Disable on board video

I am rebuilding (ack!) my clone PC using a MSI 65IM-V M/B. So far, so good. But I am wanting to install a new AGP video card. I am some what rusty at this so forgive my ignorance, it's been a while.
Should I disable the on-board video graphics chip and uninstall the drivers first? I can't locate my M/B manual. Would appreciate a kick start here.
Thanks!

You should go to Device Manager > Display adapters > Adapter model, i.e. 3D Savage or nvidia 6800 > right click > properties > driver tab > un-install.
Shutdown your system after this, do not restart.
Slot in your VGA card, start the system > Hit Del to BIOS > Integrated Pheriperals > Onboard graphic > Disable > Save and Exit. You'll be prompted to install the drivers in windows but I would strongly suggest that you download the drivers from nVidia Drivers for nVidia cards or ATi Drivers for ATI cards and do the installation maunally.
Sounds about right. Running Windows 2000, device manager is under a differant file name I think....

  • MSI NF980-G65 - How to disable on-board video? (EVGA says to do this?) GTX260

    I need your help.
Just upgraded my system to use MSI's NF980-G65 SLI board. I only have 1 EVGA GTX260 card right now and I purchased this board so I could add another GTX260 later this spring. The GTX260 worked on my last ASUS board just fine but the NF980-G65 doesn't see it.. at least I think it doesn't see it.  I can boot off the mother board video fine, Windows 7 x64 boots up fine but doesn't see my gtx card in the device list it does report vid as (nforce 980 sli) or something like that. When I power off and plug my monitor into my GTX260, the video does not work (the system continues to boot and I can hear the windows7 start up music), I've tried both video terminals on the card but nothing. EVGA says if my mother board has on-board video that I'll need to disable it and the card will work (I did not have to do this on my last board though, but that board was not an SLI board either). BUT when I go into the bios there is no option to turn off the on-board video? Is this right? Does anyone know how to do this or am I missing something? I've done allot of research on line and there were a few post saying that even with only one card installed that I will only use the mother board video plug only... is this right? Is windows not suppose to report my video card as being a GTX260 but as a 980 SLI? Sorry I'm new to this SLI stuff.
         MSI NF980-G65 w/6G DDR3 Patriot
EVGA GTX260 (installed in first PCI-E x16 slot 'labeled as PCI-E2'), yes both power plugs are plugged in.
         AMD Athlon II X4
         650W PSU
         Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
The system seems to work fine with the on-board video. I used the MSI auto updater to make sure all drivers and the bios are up to date and nothing reported back as needing updating, all though when I searched MSI's site manually there is a newer bios available but haven't dared install it yet.
Is there anyone out there that runs this board with only 1 GTX card? Does your system see it? Help!
    THX!

Thanks for your help guys. Still no go.
In the "Chipset Feature" there is no disable on board VGA listed. It list these items only.
    HPET [Disabled]
    Hybrid SLI Support [Disabled]
    VGA Share Memory Auto [Auto]
    VGA Share Memory [64M]
I've tried disabling the VGA Share memory, but on boot the mother board gives me a set of 5 or so beeps and then no video works. I have to reset the CMOS after that, so I can see the bios setup screen again.
The above settings is how the board came stock and it's how it returns after I do a reset. I'm starting to wonder if the PCI-E slots are not functioning or my GTX260 got fried moving from one mother board to another (I'm always strapped to ground when I work on electronics). I'll go through the motions tonight to put my asus board back in and test my GTX card. If it works after the swap and you guys have no other suggestions I'll send the board back to MSI for repair.  If the board is bad then this will be my last MSI board, over the last 5 years I've gone through 3 MSI mother boards. MSI always has the features I want but I just don't have the luck with them. My last board (ASUS) doesn't support SLI or I'd still be using it... maybe it's time to go ATI and the crossfire route... I hope not, I'm a real big Nvidia fan.
Anyhow, if you guys have any other suggestions I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks again. - MX

  • HOw do I disable on board video?

For the past 2 months my machine has been crashing alot. Windows  crash report says it is due to a Graphics driver, I have been going through possible answers for months with ATI, and they can't help. How can I tell if my on board video has been shut off?

  • 6368 on board video

I have been reading all the topics herein regarding disableing the on-board video for the 6368 V2 - my problem is this - I have changed the video from AGP to PCI and installed a new video card - when I reboot the computer it comes to Installing Standard PCI Video Adapter (VGA) and then freezes - I cannot go any further - I can get into safe mode - I have can see that this is already installed in the system setup - so why is it coming up on boot up and how can I get past it?
    thanks

I remember these sort of systems, they're the ones that don't come with an option to disable video in bios cause they don't have an AGP.  Hate those boards when the manufacturer didn't think far enough ahead to allow for upgrading.  I found the easiest way to deal with is to disable the onboard card as windows detects in windows device manager and then set up the new card.  With the onboared card disabled it forces the system to use the PCI without causes any hassles, if it still crashes I recommend reinstalling the operating system or trying another card.

  • On-Board video and AGP conflit? Possible?

    Hey all,
I just got this board today and it works great except that my ATI 9500 Pro will not work? My PC will not give an image with my ATI card inserted but the PC still boots? But if I hook up my video cord to the on-board video with my ATI card still installed, the same thing happens...boot with no image. When I pull out my ATI and hook up the cord to the on-board, it works great. Does the ATI, or any AGP card that is installed, automatically disable the on-board or? I can't seem to get my ATI going...maybe it's fried? Not sure how that would happen but....thanks in advance for the assistance!

  • K7N2G-ILSR: On-board video too unstable to use

Putting together a new computer for my son.  Using K7N2G-ILSR and was really looking forward to the onboard video.  Using Athlon XP 2100 (from my prior machine -- 100 percent solid CPU) and initially bought Corsair 2700 256MB with the new board.  As an immediate downer, the board refused to work with the memory (nonstop beeping/D-LED stuff, etc.) at power up (tried all slots -- same result).  Observation: this compares very unfavorably with my highly-favorable experience with Soyo boards, by the way.  Swapped out that memory with Kingston 2700 256MB from my daughter's machine, which is running Soyo Dragon Lite.
Ok, so after some immediate (and unnecessary) memory hassle, got system to boot.  CPU is running fine and cool at 50 deg C.
Next (BIG, BIG) problem: Onboard Video is WAY, WAY too unstable in Windows 2000 to be usable.  At the outset, the video is showing random horizontal streaks (of trash) across the screen.  The only time I've seen that before in my 15 years of PC use is in a Diamond video card a long time ago that was also defective.  However, I can live with streaks.  The problem is that the machine crashes every time, 100 percent of the time, within 15-90 seconds of booting into Windows 2000 (SP3).  (Of course, used latest video driver from a web site, different settings, different refresh rates, and all the other usual stuff, etc., etc., etc.)  By the way, I had the patience to try this with and without SP3, and tried a zillon different bios settings.  Nothing worked -- same immediate crash problem.  Also booted into safe mode and same deal -- but at least that confirms that the problem is probably underlying hardware-related problem, not software/driver problem.  (If it can't run under generic Windows VGA driver, then it probably can't run under anything  else.)
Only solution is to swap in an existing AGP card.  That solves the problem 100 percent but I am not exactly happy camper since I paid for the on-board video (and for budget reasons the card that I am swapping in is not exactly cutting-edge.)
If anyone has a silver bullet fix for this, I would love to hear it.  Otherwise, I will assume that the onboard AGP is defective and/or poorly designed, whereupon I would have been better off not spending the extra money for it.  My best guess is that the memory and/or other video circuitry is defective.
Otherwise, happy with the underlying performance of the motherboard itself but the video fiasco is a BIG letdown. :O
    Thanks.

SILVER BULLET FOUND!!! (and it was free)  BIG, BIG, BIG cigar to Bikeman for his above post, which focused my attention on the BIOS.  Had considered it at the outset, but figured there was no way I was going to need to flash a brand spanking new board.  But when you read the BIOS update notes, one of its fixes is with Kingston memory which is currently in the board.  Recall from above, however, that Kingston was a fallback as board complained bitterly about the Corsair memory that I bought with the board.  (My daugher's Dragon Lite is quite happy with either memory.)
So here's the rundown.  Actually couldn't see what bios ver. I had at POST as text went by way too fast.  So install live update software which confirmed that I had older v. 1.2 bios.  (Interestingly, the live update itself was old enough that it itself had to self-update before I could use).  Flashed BIOS to 1.3 using the Windows version of update, which I will report worked real smooth.
Rebooted and proceeded to install fresh nVidia driver from nVidia website.  However, I can tell you that the BIOS was definitely the problem because before I wouldn't have been able to easily get to the point of installing video driver without 5-10 crash/reboot cycles -- so the new-found stability made it very clear that the BIOS update was the "silver bullet" I was looking for.
Postscript impressions:  (1) MSI boards are VERY finiky about memory (which is a problem that I have never had with Soyo boards), and (2) this is the 2nd MSI board I have bought and the 2nd one that has had severe bios issues.  The first board was a low-end A socket board with AMI bios that arrived faulty/trashed -- half way thru POST, bios would start spitting out garbage ASCII characters.
Again thanks again to Bikeman for saving me from spending any more money (on psu or other memory) and for letting my son's system now run 8X AGP.

  • Disable RealPlayer's Video Download button

I have a client who wants RealPlayer v.11's "Download this

you are using youtube API so the question is that you can't do anything as they'll continue using HTTP protocol which is stateless and thus can be downloaded !
A workaround you can do is to make browser detection script in javascript which will detect presence of IDM Plugin ... Once you detect the presence of IDM then you can disable the video embedding and not enable it till the user manually disables the IDM Plugin

  • Qosmio X770-11C - how to disable on board speakers when using Line Out?

    Hi,
Is there any way to disable on board speakers when the line out is used.
Currently if I plug in a cable to the hadphone socket and choose lineout on the realtek control panel, the sound is output to the line out as expected but also through the internal speakers.
Is there any way to stop this, and only have sound going out through the line out?
    thanks
    Graeme

If you want to hear sound on headset only you must choose Headphone option.
Disconnect cable and connect it again. When you see small window on the screen where you can choose between headphone and line out options choose headphone and you will hear sound on external device only.
In case you have disabled this popup dialog you can activate it manually. Open Realtek manager connect external device and when you see activated black point on the right side make double click there and change settings.

I have checked all the menus and there is no on board video option and i clearly have on board video, the reason i bought this board

In the BIOS under = Advanced | Chipset Feature do you have these showing?

This item is used to select the location of UMA to avoid over-lapping with the other
    data blocks in system memory.
    On-chip VGA
This item specifies whether to allocate the memory for onboard VGA from the system
memory or sideport memory. Setting to [UMA], allocates the system share
memory for onboard VGA. Setting to [SIDEPORT], allocates the sideport memory
for onboard VGA. Setting to [UMA+SIDEPORT], allocates both system memory and
    sideport memory for onboard VGA.

The system shares memory to the onboard VGA card. This setting controls the exact
memory size shared to the VGA card.
    SIDEPORT Memory Frequency
This item allows you to set the SIDEPORT memory frequency (in MHz).
If you do not have the above showing, the BIOS needs to be reflashed. If after reflash you have a no show, you have to Contact Tech Support.

  • Disable on board graphics card

How can I disable the on board graphics card on my P&-1227c? I am trying to install an new video card and it keeps coming up blank but when I take it out everything works agian. It came with Windows 7 installed so I do not have the secure boot configuration in my BIOS. My BIOS is the 7.7 version for the Jasmine motherboard. Is there a new version I can download?

Thank you for the additional information.
I have reviewed the specs of the video card.  It appears to require a minimum of 400W.  Your new PSU should take care of the problem.  Corsair sells very good products.
The only BIOS updates that will work with HP motherboards are those provided by them.  None of the retail versions will work properly.

  • Disable calls with video silently in jabber 9.2.6

    Hello,
My company just bought Jabber 9.2.6 and as an application packager I was selected to create a package that installs Jabber completely silently. I have no problems with the installation but they gave me instructions to select the "Never start calls with video" option and I cannot find how to disable this silently anywhere. I found that for previous Jabber version this was set in the jabber-config.xml file but I cannot find it anywhere in the 9.2.6 install. I thought this maybe was set through the registry but couldn't find any registry keys for this either. the only configuration files I see in Jabber install folder are          "log4cxx.properties", "jabber-config-defaults", "jabber-plugin-config", "jabber-ui-config", "plugin-config" and "StartupHandlerConfig". I couldn't find anything about calls with video in these files. Does anyone have any idea on how to enable this "Never start calls with video" option in Jabber 9.2.6 please?

    Hi Gabriel,
you should follow instruction from CUCM docs :
Migration of Cisco Jabber Video SettingsIn Cisco Unified Presence Release 8.x, the Always begin with video muted setting is configured in Cisco Unified Presence Administration under Application > Cisco Jabber > Settings. This setting is not migrated during the upgrade to the current release. In the current release, this setting is configured in Unified Communications Manager as a Cisco Jabber Enterprise Parameter called Never start call with video. The default value for the Never start call with video setting is False. If you want to configure calls to not start with video, you must set the Never start call with video value to True in theUnified Communications Manager Enterprise Parameter configuration window.
And from Jabber side you should set StartCallWithVideo parameter in jabber-config.xml.
    In short:
Admin should set Never Start Call with Video parameter to True.
Admin should set StartCallWithVideo option to False in jabber-config.xml.

I'm wondering if there is a way to disable the video window from popping up everytime I change a music video track in itunes in previous versions I always used play in artwork viewer but I accidentally updated and now that option is no longer there.  I use itunes to organize my music collection as I'm a video dj but it's becoming to be a really big pain now with all the videos popping up. Flash Player is supposedly already be installed in Internet Explorer 11, but it is NOT working.

Long story short, the video site is probably going to need to change their content before it works in IE11+.  I'd need some links to affected pages to tell you for sure (and even then, the complexity of websites these days makes debugging pretty painful).
In the meantime, you might just want to use Chrome for the sites that otherwise don't work.
