Disable password support in Safari 6?

I use a third-party password manager, so would like to disable automatic password support in Safari 6. It doesn't appear possible to do this in Preferences (or I missed it).  Has anyone identified a way to do this (e.g., via a defaults setting), so that I don't constantly see drop-down sheets when I enter a password on a website?
Also, I can't seem to edit all of the passwords that *are* in Safari (where I accidentally hit return when the sheet appeared).  I can delete one password, but then when I try to highlight others and delete them, nothing happens.
Thanks.

It is a little odd but they did not put the option in the passwords options but instead in the AutoFill options.
Simply open the safari > preferences > autofill and uncheck the "User names and passwords" checkbox. I found the solutions here:

How come I have to put in a keychain password every time safari or mail is opened? Is there a way I can disable it or save the password so it doesn't pop up every time? Also, I have my mail account set up from my Yahoo! account and every time I open mail, it asks for the password for my Yahoo! account. I have checked save this password to keychain and it persists on popping up repeatedly.

You don't want to disable keychain (if there's even a good way to do so), since it stores stuff like certificates and the such.  It's quite useful.
Anyways, Keychains>Preferences>First Aid.  Check Set Login Keychain as default.  When you login, it unlocks the keychain.
    That should help you.

  • Cannot disable Acrobat PDF support in Safari

I want to disable Acrobat PDF support in Safari. I open Acrobat 8.0.1, go to Preferences>Internet, and uncheck "Display PDF in browser using Acrobat 8.0.1". I click OK.
However, when I quit Acrobat and Safari and re-opened Safari, Acrobat PDF was still enabled. I went back to Acrobat, opened up Preferences, and sure enough the "Display PDF in browser..." checkbox was checked again!
So I unchecked it once more and clicked OK to close Preferences. I figured I'd open Preferences once more to see if it worked - and to my amazement "Display PDF in browser..." was checked again!
It seems it is impossible for me to turn this off. Any ideas how I can disable this without uninstalling Acrobat?
I've tried going to Help>Repair Acrobat to disable the PDF plug-in, but it doesn't appear in the list. The only plug-in listed is the one for making PDF files from Microsoft Office applications.

    Chris,
    Go to HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and remove AdobePDFViewer.plugin.

  • Disabling password checking?

    Hi all,
is it possible in Oracle to disable password checking, so that I could be connect with just
    <username>@<service name>
without being prompted for a password?
Now please don't condemn me... The idea is the following:
It's all about a dedicated developer database / server.
I have a lot of scripts which deploy the schema objects of our app, in several "connected" schemas, which are used by the app. For the sake of simplicity and speed we have been using <username>=<password>. But the consequence is, that these scripts cannot be used unchanged for deploying into production.
It would be great, if I could only use the above mentioned connection script and by a central db-configuration, in one case it would connect me to the DB, in the other case I would be prompted for the password.
Now please, don't value the approach. This not my idea. But is there a way disable password checking (entering question...)?
    Many thanks, in advance

    What kind of scripts?
    What OS?
    What version of Oracle?
We use an environment variables to hold the username and password. The OS then substitutes the current username and corresponding password into the script at run time. So the same Korn shell script we use in test can run in production unchanged and the developers do not know the production password.
Oraclle also support global authenication via an Directory Server with the Advanced Security option.
HTH -- Mark D Powell --I have the feeling, that you understood what I mean, still I don't understand your solution. But first I should provide more information...
We are using 11gR2 on Linux machines, both for development as well as for production. We have a concept for continuous integration, where every schema object has it's own DDL script and then we have an allobjects.sql scripts which every single one of them (simply speaking).
These are all SQL scripts, written to be executed in sqlplus. In SQLPLUS variables I am handling things like schema names and passwords. The "master" sql-scripts "connect"s itself to all necessary schemas for the app, and deploys every single database objects, executing its script. The consequence is, the "master" scripts contains many "connect" statements and in production every single one schema of the app, could have different password, so I can't just pass it as a parameter to the sql-script once.
I hope, I have been more clear than the first time. So we have an app, which uses 8-9 schemas to be completely deployed. So I thought, if I could just use "<username>@<service name>" in my scripts, than the DBAs would be able to use them, unchanged, entering the production passwords, when prompted, without the developers knowing them....

  • How to disable password complexity via command

    hello
i have spent hours searching to find a command or script (powershell, cmd, VB, registry...) to disable group policy password complexity. few solutions has been delivered on the net but none of them works.
i wonder how what a pity if we can't do such simple thing in Microsoft windows
i really need that because i have created a script which contains many lines which automates windows customization which i always need in my classrooms for testing & teaching purposes
    thanks in advanced

The answer is in your question: group policy password complexity. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc875814.aspx#ECAA
On a non-domain joined pc, this is governed by local policy.
Note that if your domain is on functional level 2008 or up, you can use fine grained password policies to have a different password policy on the systems your are deploying. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770394(v=ws.10).aspx
    There
is no (supported) way to change the password policy applied to a computer. That is intended in the design because password complexity is one of the keys to protect against bruteforce attacks.
Why wouldn't your script be able to handle password complexity rules? I would recommend tackling this in
your script, not in password policy.

  • Someone else's passwords in my Safari

I was looking through the stored passwords in my Safari today to find a password I couldn't remember and found several stored passwords with the user name of a coworker of mine. This coworker has never used my iPhone or Macbook nor been to my house, nor I to hers. How could this have happened? I'm on a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 using 10.9.5 and Safari 7.1. They were to big sites like amazon, ebay, and a couple of others.

    Hi .
If you aren't certain how those passwords were stored on your Mac, make sure to delete the passwords and keychains.
Passwords:   From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Passwords tab. Type the name of each website such as Amazon in the search field top right of the Passwords window. Select the Amazon website then click Remove. Do the same for eBay and the others.
Now open Keychain Access located in HD > Applications > Utilities then select Passwords on the left.
Type Amazon in the search field top right of the Keychain Access window then right or control click that keychain then click Delete. Do the same for the other websites.

  • Disable framebuffer support??

What do I lose if I disable framebuffer support in the kernel?
My console has been unusable (text is huge and doesn't fit on screen) since I did a pacman -Syu a couple of weeks ago.
I'm thinking that building my own kernel with framebuffer support disabled will fix the console issue.
But, I'm not sure what I lose by disabling it.
    thanks

dav7 wrote:*ahem*, no, I don't use a framebuffer console (since I've no idea how to get 1400x1050@84Hz, a resolution not "advertised" by my screen as being an acceptable mode, despite being okay), but I use the Cyr_a8x8 font... and I can has 80x60 (or 50?) text resolution.
Wow, this is good to know. I set up framebuffer to get more lines on my console. I'll have to try some different fonts with the normal console to see what I can get. I don't use splash or anything like that, so getting more lines without the framebuffer would be nice.
