Disable roaming on 3g modem - cisco 819
we installed a cisco flexvpn solution using cisco 819 with 3g modem as spokes.
in order to limit the costs we would like to disable the roaming feature on the modem.
is it supported? if yes how?
thank you
I'm in Australia and have a Telstra 4G connection as well - but with the new C819G-4G-GA-K9 model (slightly different to yours as it has a different Sierra Wireless modem).
I've had my system for about a month now and haven't experienced this problem - the only obvious difference is that I am running 15.4(3)M1 (not 15.4(2)T which was an experimental build). So perhaps start by upgrading to that and see if it makes any difference. Certainly that's the first thing TAC will ask you to do if you log a case.
This is typical of the sort of latency I am seeing from metropolitan Sydney:
router-2#ping 139.130.111.93
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 139.130.111.93, timeout is 2 seconds:
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 28/36/48 ms
router-2#
Are you seeing any significant CPU utilisation after the ping times go up?

Disable roaming data not works (in the same country)
iPhone 2.1
if disable roaming data and your carrier allows to connect to another carrier in the same country (for voice services) your iPhone continue to connect with the other carrier, even if you've disabled roaming data.
that needs to be fixed as soon as possible ...
i've spent a lot of money thinking that disable roaming data works also in the same country and not only abroadThey should then add this features, a lot of people are in the same boat ... and receive tremendous bill due to this lack of capabilities of iPhone to do not lock data connection only with the own carrier in the same country.
I know that there's the possibility to use only one carrier instead of setup in automatic mode the carrier, but, as said, many carriers all over the worls allow theis customers to connect to other carriers for free ONLY for voice BUT not for data ... -

What is the suitable outdoor antenna for cisco 819 4g router ?
what is the suitable and highest gain outdoor antenna for cisco 819 4g router ?
I believe your trying to ask a different question. But here are the three options i know of:
Multiband Omni-Directional Stick Outdoor 4G Antenna (We have used a number of times)
Multiband Low-Profile Saucer Outdoor 4G Antenna
Multiband Panel Outdoor 4G Antenna
The panel I have no experience with, so I can not speak on what gains you will receive. But that is the hard part of the question for me to answer, high gains. Because in my experience, there is so many factors to account for and most of them are outside our control. But it looks like the Panel is the winner. Again I have zero experience with, but we install the Omnidirectional stick all the time and make good connections. Of course for the areas that have good cell coverage. Also to add, the length of the connecting cable plays a part.
Hope that help.

Afaria 7 sp4 - disable roaming for Windows phone 8
Hello:
We have Avaria 7 sp4 installed, and we have a client that has 95% of the fleet of mobile enterprise with windows phone 8 and requires among other things, disable roaming. is this possible?
I do not see many options available for WP8 compared to Android, is a limitation of windows?
Thank you.
Ale SuarezIt's a limitation in WP 8.0
Look at this slide deck from Microsoft to see all the great things coming to WP 8.1 in a few weeks time:

How do I connect my Airport Extreme to my modem (Cisco Model DPC3010)?
I am having trouble connecting my Airport Extreme Wireless Base Station to a Cisco Modem (Model DPC3010). I have used the Airport Extreme for years with other modems with no trouble. Alas, this time around I can't get it to work. I think I might not have the cable connected correctly. Help, please. Thanks

Is it possible to completely disable port 23 on a Cisco device?
When we run the 'show control-plane host open-ports' command on any of our routers (but specifically a CGR 2010) we are seeing port 23 in a listening state.
Active internet connections (servers and established)
Prot Local Address Foreign Address Service State
tcp *:22 *:0 SSH-Server LISTEN
tcp *:23 *:0 Telnet LISTEN
udp *:123 *:0 NTP LISTEN
Our auditors are leery of this even though we have shown that we do not have telnet enabled on the VTY lines, only SSH, and there is an ACL in place for further protection. Is there ANY way to completely disable port 23 to keep it from running AT ALL upon startup? I have been scouring the internet for a solution to this and have come up dry. I feel that there has to be a way to do this, but can't figure it out. Is it possible to do at all? And if not I would really like to find some official documentation from Cisco stating that the ports are on by default and cannot be disabled so that I have something to give to our auditors.
Thanks! You cannot shut off the telnet service completely on an IOS router, including the CGR 2010. This can be done on NX-OS ("no service telnet").
As Leo notes and as you mentioned you're already doing, securing the vty lines is considered a good practice. You might also add control plane policing. I've seen that configuration pass NERC audits used in nuclear plants here in the US.
As far as getting something official from Cisco, you'd have to open a TAC case or work with your reseller to get something from the business unit. -
IEEE 802.11k roaming with client and cisco router
I found information that Cisco supports IEEE802.11k WLAN standard with their routers.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/technotes/5700/software/release/ios_xe_33/11rkw_DeploymentGuide/b_802point11rkw_deployment_guide_cisco_ios_xe_release33/b_802point11rkw_deployment_guide_cisco_ios_xe_release33_chapter_010.html
If read this article I think for assisted roaming I only need neigbor reports but IEEE 802.11k standard also defines several reports like channel load report etc.
Do I need these other reports also for roaming decisions if my device is a client? The reason why you can't remote desktop is because you have configured the following static PAT statement that unfortunately take precedence over your NAT exemption:
ip nat inside source static tcp 10.10.1.2 3389 192.198.46.14 3389 extendable
Do you require RDP with the public IP? if you don't and only require RDP via VPN, then please take the static PAT statement out, and RDP via VPN will work. -
Disable SSLv3 in AnyConnect on Cisco 2821
We are running anyconnect-win-3.1.06073-k9.pkg on a 2821 IOS router. Is there a way to disable SSLv3?
The release notes indicate CSCur27617 - AnyConnect vulnerable to POODLE attack (CVE-2014-3566) Win/Mac/Linux was resolved in AnyConnect 3.1.05187.
Thank youHi Rob ,
According to the bug:
All versions of desktop AnyConnect for Mac OS X and Linux prior to 3.1.00495 are vulnerable , so Anyconnect 3.1.06.073 is safe from POODLE vulnerability
On the Anyconnect you can disable the SSL using Ikev2 instead of the SSL protocols , however as the bug mention , the client creates a paralel ssl tunnel to get updates and profile from the router.
If you're asking to disable SSLv3 on the router , unfortunately there is not code yet , the workaround is to disable the webvpn or upgrade the VPN client.
As well here is the officil advisory for the POODLE vulnerbility on Cisco Products.
http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20141015-poodle
Hope it helps

S4 and s5, disable roaming data transmission and also looks outward.
Hello,
Disable the roaming and yet are broadcasts when traveling abroad several Kbytes outgoing way, is not incoming traffic, the outgoing traffic is detected by the provider of that country and also for us who are local operators, or whether data transmission is it making, so it is billed as the phone has roaming turned off, we were told that is failure android but about s4 and s5, if problem with android we would have claims of all customers traveling abroad.
We sp3 version 7, we are coming to install sp4 .
I appreciate all the info you can provide me.

Jabber for Windows - Disable "Sign me in when Cisco Jabber starts"?
I am looking for a way to disable the auto sign-in checkbox for Jabber for Windows. this is an issue in LDAP authenticated roll-outs when password policies are in effect (change passwords every 90 days). When auto sign in is enabled for jabber after an LDAP password change, Jabber will lock out the user account the first time it is launched.
Hi,
If I understood you correctly, you are looking for a way to remove ability for users so they can't set autologin?
I think there is no option that will give you that ability at this moment.
You can file enhancment request if you think that option is neccery.

See above
I disabled roaming on my wireless pc card and VZW Access Manager showed the network as Verizon and after 10 minutes use got a phone text msg and a email saying my international roaming charges are exceeding $50.00, and I have never had the card or laptop across the border. Calling customer service got transferred to tech support and the tech wanted to add a global plan for $25 then she said she would cancel it at the end of the billing cycle and would credit my account the remaining balance owed, how stupid do they think we are, she wouldn't transfer me back to the customer service rep or to a 2nd tier tech, just trying to weasel me into something I told her I wouldn't agree to even if it was in writing and I know how Verizon works with verbal explanations of plans, been taken that way too. I've told the reps many times that the next time a Verizon employee tries to pull a fast one they will lose a customer that has never been with another provider. It appears that Verizon's towers near the border recognize users that aren't regular users in that area and try to charge ridiculously high data rates, $50.00 for 10 minutes, then the tech tries to get you to agree to something that will get them a commission, why else would they delay crediting you the amount, which most likely is not going to actually happen anyway, and it's not in writing so not able to prove it. Well Verizon isn't getting 1 cent of that charge and depending on how they handle this they may lose a customer and have to send some poor unsuspecting employee to respond to the small claims court or just plain default. One more call to customer service is it, sorry, done playing their game by their rules.

I am trying to optimize my roam settings on a Cisco 1310 operating in WGB mode. The WGB will roam around and connect to various 1310s configured in LAP mode.
There are some optional settings that can be set including changing the beacon retries, data retries and also the RSSI level to force the WGB to roam if the RSSI reaches a certain level.
Does anyone know of any issues with these settings? For instance, I run my network at 9Mbps and want to force a roam when the RSSI reaches -77dB or worse.
Is it better to force this parameter or to just use default Cisco settings?
Thanks for any help you can provide. Cisco does detail the changes you can make but they don't go into much detail about the reasons for making changes to these options.
JamesIt depends a lot on the moving speed of the device. We've seen 10km/h WGBs and 80km/h WGBs mounted on trains.
It also depends on the coverage density. I never saw 2 situations where the same settings would work. It's more like a "try and see if it gives good results". -
Cisco Flex 7500 controller with client disconnects
Hey All,
There will be alot of info in this post, hopefully all helpful, more info the better right! If you require anymore info to help me out to not hesistate to request it.
We have been having some issues with clients connecting and disconnecting several times a day and having to manually reconnect from the icon on their taskbar. We have about 380 APs, and 200+ more to deploy that we have and are licensed for but are having some issues that we want to resolve first obviously.
Some locations our setup is a bit more complex than this with multiple SSIDs and vlans, but this issue is everywhere so i will keep it to our simple setup for now:
AP Models: AIR-LAP1042N-A-K9, AIR-CAP1602I-A-K9 (Most locations do not have a mix of both, most have 1042s)
Running a single SSID - WPA/WPA2 with: WPA - TKIP and WPA2 - AES on the same SSID.
They talk back to a Cisco Flex 7500 Series through a tunnel (should not be any port blocking preventing communication)
We are running from what i understand a bad firmware version (7.6.100.0) and during our next maintenance window i am going to try and get them to change to a more stable firmware version.
Data Rates of 1,2,5.5,11 Mbps are disabled
TPCv1 coverage running
Automatic Power Assignment
I will not focus on the a/n/ac network as most of our devices are connecting to WPA due to the config they already have.
Ideally i would like to get rid of WPA all together but i am not 100% in control of the decisions to get the started and people here like to delay things lol.
It is hard to say if the issue is specific to a model as we have so few 1602Is, and it is just at our main office. I have not heard many complaints but i have noticed i will now and then get a limited or no connectivity settings on my wireless icon on my PC. I use hard-wired so i don't really notice if it is not working.
In most locations it looks like the controller is doing a decent job at selection channels to use. I did find one spot where it had on 11 APs down a long hallway, and did not use channel 6 once. I statically set that location to stagger the channels to see what kind results we had and am still waiting to hear on that as they complained the most out of all of our locations. In some cases 3 APs in a row were on channel 1 in the hallway, in alot of casses 1 was 2 times in a row as well as 11 so there was alot of overlap.
I am attaching my show sysinfo and show wlan 17 for that informtion, some of the other settings i have changed today that were previously enabled/set different are:
Disabled Cisco Aironet IE
Set channel automatic rescan from 10 mintues to 12 hours as i can image if it is changing the channels alot it can lead to disconnects.
Some of the main things we get in our message log are:
*dot1xMsgTask: Oct 16 15:17:36.943: #DOT1X-4-MAX_EAPOL_KEY_RETRANS: 1x_ptsm.c:508 Max EAPOL-key M5 retransmissions exceeded for client 84:85:06:0b:a6:33
- Not sure why we get this as we have a PSK and do not have local eap enabled.....
*apfMsConnTask_6: Oct 16 15:19:01.753: #APF-3-AID_UPDATE_FAILED: apf_80211.c:6570 Error updating Association ID for REAP AP Clientc8:f9:f9:2b:fd:50 - AID 4

- There is a bug for this log, but according to the bug our 7.6.100.0 is not effected

Priority Policy NameAs long as you take the configuration backup downgrading from 7.6.100.0 to 7.4.121.0 should be fine. Because this is Flexconnect deployment, make sure you review the release notes thoroughly as config like vlan mapping is impacted it is painful to reconfigure.
I still think moving to 7.6MR3 & once 8.x get stable going for that code is a good plan. Though 7.4.121.0 is assure wave it does not mean it has no bugs.(remember that prior to this 7.4.110.0 was assure wave & it deferred in quick time) . I would say 8.x going to be the code staying for long time period, so ultimately you have to be there.
In 8.x there are few FlexConnect improvements, one being AP won't reload when you change from local mode to FlexConnect.

Cisco ISE 1.2 & Cisco WLC 5508 v7.6
Hi all,
we are planning to upgrade our WLC to 7.6 to fix a bug with FlexConnect Client ACLs but I have just seen on the Cisco ISE Compatibility table that the it only recommends up to v7.5 of the WLC 5508...
Cisco have told me to steer clear of 7.5 as it is in a defferred status, so does anyone know, or have running in a lab or production, ISE1.2 with a 5508 WLC v7.6 NAD ?
I would much rather know of any issues people are experiencing before hand than to have to go through a software upgrade and then rollback.
Thanks all
Mario De RosaHi Neno,
right I have this almost working now.
I have simplified the setup. I am not going to do any client provisioning at the moment.
So I can connect to the corporate SSID using EAP-TLS and I can successfully push the branch data VLAN upon successful authorisation.
Now I am trying to introduce the posture element & per user ACLs.
I have defined the redirect ACL & Flex ACL on the vWLC however the NAC agent will not pop-up. The client is in the right VLAN and the redirect ACL seems to be getting applied as the client does get an IP through DHCP. However, the client cannot ping the ISE or access the guest portal when I open the browser.
DNS resolution seems to be working fine.
VLAN220 is my datacentre VLAN which the Management Interface on the controller is plugged in to.
VLAN10 is the branch DATA VLAN.
