Disable scrolling animations in Mail

Hi everybody,
I really like the new Mail-App in Lion.
But is there a possibility to disablle the scrolling-animation (wenn you press FN+Down/Up-Arrow-Key) in Mail that it behaves like Snow Leopard Mail.
If you want to flip through multi-pages-mails very fast, the animation is too slow...
Thank you, Gernot

Just found out, that shift-fn-arrow-down does the trick. Is there a way to switch behaviour of shift-fn-arrow-down and fn-arrow-down? Because shift-fn-del does not delete a mail-message and it was very convenient that holding the fn-key arrow-down and del did a fast skim-through-message and delete without releasing the fn-key.
Yours, Gernot

  • Laggy scrolling/animations and tricky touchpad on MacBook Pro w/Retina Display

As much as I loved the form factor and screen on the 15" 2.6ghz MBP w/Retina Display, the laggy scrolling, animations and intermimitently non-functional tap-to-click made me return it to Best Buy. A $3000 computer (after tax) shouldn't have problems that my Early 2011 MBP doesn't have. I thought the 10.8.2 update might fix this, but unfortunately it has not, even after a clean wipe.
Side note - 10.8.2 also made my 2011 MBP's battery literally drop by 1% a minute when on battery power. It's also ridiculously hotter. Unusable as a portable device.
Another side note - Best Buy really dillutes/degrades Apples great brand. The Apple Specialist in my local Best Buy in Dublin, CA is quite cranky and condescending. That will be the last time I buy an Apple product from Best Buy.

  • How can i disable scrolling on firefox mobile ?

I want to disable scrolling for my responsive website, when a colorbox (like a lightbox) is layered over the page (as div, not as iframe).
Scrolling should only be available for the colorbox-div, but not for body or html.
Therefore, I set "html" and/or "body" to "overflow:hidden" with the help of jquery. That works in chromium mobile and in the desktop versions of FF and chromium, but I can't figure out why I still have the scrollbar in Firefox on Android.
Is this a know 'problem'? What can I do?

  • Disable scrolling of cursor in a xy graph

    Hello,
I want to use the cursor to measure two points in a graph and also disble
the capability of the cursor to change the current x and y scale of the

    Who can help me out?

I could be confused by the version number. The item is definitely in
6.1. Popup on a graph, the plot area is probably the largest and
easiest to hit. Go to the Advanced item and see what is there. The
    bottom item in my version
can be checked or unchecked to enable and
disable scrolling when a cursor gets to the edge of the graph.
If you do not have the menu item, add the following to your .ini file.
    scrollGraphCursors= FALSE;
    or
    scrollGraphCursors: FALSE;
    depending on your platform.

  • Disabling interface animations and eye-candy

Is there any way to disable the interface animations and eye-candy in Aperture. I particularly want to disable the animations that play on stacks. Opening, closing, and sorting of stacks. They are sooooo slow with stacks of 30+ images. Especially when using keyboard commands to quickly perform multiple commands on a stack — it will start to play 2 or 3 animations on top of each other and it grinds the app to a halt.

    Amen, brother!
It would be fine to have all the spinning, swooshing, eye candy if the basic program ran well. But it's so sluggish, and there are so many performance issues on such a wide variety of hardware (just peruse the topic titles here if you have any doubt) that it's completely exasperating to have to wait for all the eye candy to execute before the program can actually do what you're asking of it.
I've learned not to use stacks or smart albums (even touching these brings my Dualie 2.5 ghz G5 to its knees, spod city...) but there are a number of animations you trigger just in use. Would be interesting to see if turning them off speeds up the programs core functions...

  • Disable scrolling in certain apps. Magic Mouse?

Is there any way to disable scrolling only on certain application on a Magic Mouse. I love the mouse and my beautiful i5 27" iMac. The trouble is I work with Adobe InDesign all the time and I am constantly accidentally scrolling the pages. I hate this but I love the scrolling on the web and in Photoshop. If there is any way I could keep it from scrolling in InDesign only that would be awesome!!! Thanks for you suggestions!

I have this exact same request.
The scrolling on Magic Mouse is great for applications developed by Apple. I use Aquamacs and find scrolling to be truly horrible with Magic Mouse.
I've added an entry to the Wish List page for Aquamacs. Maybe you can submit a bug report or feature request to the developers of EyeTV? Do they release updates and bugfixes on a regular basis?
Maybe you can control system settings with something like QuicKeys, Automator, or ActionScript.

  • Disable scrolling for an entire document

Can anyone help me with a code sample that will disable scrolling for an entire document?

Sure! You could write a script which is executed from the top level subform's ("form1" by default) Enter event and looks for all fields on the form and sets their
doNotScroll property to true. Note that the script will have to execute on the Enter event (which will be called the moment the user sets focus to any field on the form) because any other event is too "soon" for the
doNotScroll property setting to take effect.
I've attached another sample form which demonstrates how to do this. Check-out the script in the form1 object's Enter event. The
DisableScrolling method is recursive and finds all child fields within all possible container objects (such as subforms, areas, exclusion groups) found in the XFA language. For each field found which supports the
doNotScroll property, it sets that property to true. Note the boolean variable used to guard against running this script every time focus is set to a field within the form. The script only needs to be executed once.

I can't seem to scroll in Mac Mail since I updated software to Mavericks--it's very annoying, any ideas folks?

oops, scrolling the text within the mail program using a wireless mouse.
If I quit the mail program it corrects itself, but then it suddenly becomes impossible to scroll with the mouse

  • Disable Spaces animation?

I'm relatively new to MacOS. I just started using Spaces the other day and I find it very useful for organizing my desktop. However, the animated sliding from one virtual screen to another makes me dizzy (I'm serious). I'm doing some development and have a bunch of editor windows in one "space" and XCode in another, so I'm often switching back and forth quite a bit. It's much more efficient than having all the windows on one desktop, but after doing that for a while, my head is spinning. Is there a way to disable that animation?

Sorry to reply without helpful advice. I google this question almost weekly and don't believe there's a work-around yet. I just want to second your request. This is my #1 feature request for 10.5. Power users like the eye candy as much as everyone else -- except for when is slows us down. I have 8 spaces mapped to keyboard shortcuts (using Fastscripts) so I don't even have to leave to home row to select a specific space. The animation provides no useful information if one knows exactly where one is going before even making the selection. It only slows things down and distracts. This may seem trivial, but some of us switch spaces perhaps 100 times or more per day. Workspace management is one of the few places where Gnome and KDE beat the OSX gui, IMHO.

  • Scrolling troubles with mail (Mavericks)

    Hi,
I'm experiencing regular scrolling troubles with mail since i've upgrade to Mavericks (latest mail upgrade included).
This is happening either in the messages themselves or message list or mailboxes list.
All others functions are on only scrolling is freezed.
After few minutes scrolling is back.
    Does anybody experienced such trouble?

Thanks ZOGY the PRAM reset solved the scrolling bug for me.
Simultaneously hold down keys "option + command + P + R" during restart until the reboot repeats the chime, then release.
