Disable "Show Tab Order" default when opening document

I've been trying to figure out what I did to my installation of LiveCycle Designer but, on my workstation, it is somehow set to "Show Tab Order" by default when opening an existing PDF form for editing. This means that I have to turn off this feature EVERY TIME I open a document. It's really wearing on me as I open hundreads of PDF forms in a day's time. I'd say I've lost many hours of productivity just turning off this feature... Does anyone know how to turn off this display feature until requested?

Yes... at the moment, PDF final view control via InDesign is lacking... in fact it isn't there at all. This has to be done from Acrobat. However, it is possible to make actions in the action wizard so the process isn't so tedious. I have written about this elsewhere: See it at the final size – view size and Acrobat | Colecandoo!

Show bookmarks by default when opening the pdf file

I made a document with a TOC and bookmerk for pdf which worked great.
I have some pdf documents that when I open them, the bookmark panel on Acrobat are opened by default. In my document, that panle is not visible, I need to click the Bookmark icon, so it shows the bookmark panel, and so I can navigate in the document.
Is there a way to configure InDesign so that the pdf file makes Acrobat open the Bookmark panel by default, like those documents I have? It looks like to me that this is a very common resource in pdf files, most of the pdf I have opens the bookmark panel when the document is loaded.

Error when opening document with ECL control: INVALID_DATA

Hi Gurus,
I've tried to search the net for this problem but could not find anything and I'm stuck now.
Description:
we're using ECL to view attached documents (to POs etc.) which are stored through ArchiveLink on the content repository.
when we try to open this document, time-to-time we get following error:
Error when opening document with ECL control: INVALID_DATA
Message no. SDV004
by time-to-time I mean that when we try to open same attachment again it opens successfully (sometimes we need to re-open it 3-4 times to get it)
what we've tried is to enlarge timeout for HTTP protocol (tx SMICM, from former 30 to actual 60) but only effect we got is that we're waiting for the error longer time
It will be really great if anybody of you guys can give me an advice where the problem can be or where should I look and what to check

thanks for tip, unfortunately this was already flagged, currently settings are:
for Display Settings:
yes - include ECL control
use HTML control
empty - maximum viewer wait time
(do you think that setting some value for this could help)
yes - deactivate generic object services in viewer
no - doc display as dialog box
yes - deactivate data provider cache
Storage Settings:
yes - always copy document class from document type
yes - permit multiple assignment

InDesign CS6 (8.1) hangs when opening documents, intermittent

InDesign CS6 (8.1) hangs when opening documents, intermittent, and a document that hangs InDesign, after restarting InDesign, will open fine. I found the following track, Re: InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding for instructions to "force a hang into a crash" and am posting the crash logs to pastebin.com

For more background information we are using Mac OS X 10.10.3, Within indesign we are using an editorial management software called "NewsEngin GPS" that utilizes Rohohiko's ADIP ToolAssistant plugin and an advertising management plugin "Pagelink" from Mactive/NewsCycle Solutions. These are the only 3 third party vendors that are being used and of course all claim that their products separately are stable under Mac OS 10.10 and InDesign CS6 v8.1.

Did you try to export the INDD file to IDML, open that and work with the new files?

Yes, We have checked in both ways, I have also followed other threads on the same issue
But not able to find the solution for the issue. We are facing the issue when we are using files scannned by Kodak Scanner i1420 in tiff format.
But If I will attach any other tiff files from directory then It can viewed through SAP Document Viewer.

How do you place an image on 'new background" when open documents in tabs is unchecked

I am trying to use "mirror technique" (watching videos to learn)
I opened image in PS 2014....with "open documents as tabs is Unchecked..
made a new document the size that will hold the doubled image...
duplicated the image
flipped horizontal...
but when I place on "new document"...nothing happens....just separate windows..

On image 1, CTRL+A to select all.
CTRL+C to copy.
Switch to image 2, CTRL+V to paste.
Click on Move tool and adjust layer placement as needed.

Error in when opening documents in Internet Explorer

The following issue started after installing the new version of Reader. Occurs on attempt to open any document from an IE HTML page link. Have tried opening both Microsoft Word .doc files and Adobe .pdf files. Same error message in either case. Below is an example loading a MS Word .doc file.

Clicking on OK results in document being read. Unknown what problem has been instantiated.

Document is a 14 page document that is "untagged and must be prepared for reading. While the document is being analyzed, your assistive technology will not be able to interact with this application."

Since the error dialog box specifically identifies the error coming from the AcroRd32.exe application, it would appear that the error is specifically an Adobe issue.

How can I choose a font besides Myriad Pro as default when opening existing PDFs in Illustrator?

I already know how to do this for new documents.
But I work with PDFs generated in AutoCAD.
When opening these files in Illustrator, the default font is always set to Myriad Pro.
How can I substitute my desired font for Myriad when opening EXISTING files, short of copy/pasting into a new file? That workaround is just as time-consuming as resetting the font every time I work on a new document.
Illustrator has to be referencing something when defaulting to this font. It seems unbelievable that this setting cannot be altered.
Any ideas out there?

We get autocad dies from a variety of sources, quite often the font is .txt which susbtitutes to myriad. I use find font to substitue myriad to arial.
Since no doucment is open, changing the New document profiles does not help to get rid of Myriad.
You can record an action for this and set a hot key. The action is pretty fast

Microsoft Word Hangs When Opening Document From SharePoint 2010 Document Library

I am running into an issue where Word hangs when opening certain files from a document library. When the issue occurs, Word opens and hangs at the Downloading <Doc URL> stage. I have tried disabling the SharePoint plugins in IE and that
makes no difference. I can download a local copy of the file and open in just fine. The file in questions exists in a separate document library where it can be opened just fine (The file was copied to the library where the issue is occurring by
a Workflow). The issue also has only occurred on .docx files and not .doc, however, not all docx files are having the issue.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing this?

According to your post, my understanding is that when you opened a certain files from a document library, it hanged at the downloading stage.
I tried to reproduce the issue, after coping by a workflow, the .docx files opened well in my environment.
Did the issue occur in other documents libraries? You can copy the files to a new documents library by workflow, then check whether it works.
For more details we also can check the SharePoint ULS logs.

Have you check your IE settings (Tools->options->connections->LAN settings->uncheck Automatically detect settings).

Why Ctrl+Tab stops working when opening a flash embedded page?

This a huge pet peeve I have. Everytime I watch a video in youtube.com or megavideo.com, I can't just Ctrl+Tab to change tabs. I'll have to clic in some portion of the page without video to get it to work, but even that, isn't always the case.

How to disable/lock (Delete/Trash Icon) when Contract Document is Executed

Hi All,
I am trying to disable trash icon on Contract Documents tab for a particular contract document item that is in "EXECUTED" phase.
I tried setting security profiles , access attributes for "Contract Generation". I had set DELETE - ALLOW and ADMINISTRATIVE DELETE - DENY.
As per one of the post I found, that
Security profiles are configured in setup on the system administration tab. There are 2 "rights" associated with Contract Documents that apply to this situation:
1) Delete
2) Administrative Delete
The first access right indicates whether or a not user can delete contract documents up until they are executed. The second access right provides for the delete option even after the contract documents are executed.
To address your use case, you should make sure that users have the Delete access right in one or more of their associated security profiles and make sure they do not have the Administrative Delete access right.
But when I tried the same, edit option is also disabled on Contract Document item. Edit was set to ALLOW although.
Please suggest if I am missing something.

After setting Security Profiles for Contract Generation>Contract Document>DELETE allow and Administrative Delete to DENY, Trash Icon is disabled for all contract documents watsoever phase they are. And is enabled for all contracts if Administrative Delete is set to Allow.
It is not behaving to enable Trash Icon until its in EXECUTED phase.
So, I am trying to implement using script. I wrote below code that didnt work,
contractDocumentList = agreeBean.getContractDocuments();

Error When Opening Document

I receive the following error when opening a Web Intelligence Document, no matter the user.
Cannot initialize Report Engine server. (Error: RWI 00226) (Error: INF )
I also cannot run any reports. Anyone have an idea? I cannot seem to find any information in the knowledgebase on that error.

ID crashing when opening document in 5.0, converted from 5.5

I have 6 documents which I got as IDML-files.
They are originally made in 5.5 - I'm using 5.0. Working on a mac (OSX 10.6.8)
When opening a document ID freezes. Then I make a forced close down - and start ID again. And then the document is opened and I can work on it.
This happens with 5 of the documents - the 6th opens without problems.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences.
Also, we can debug your hangs.
Run Activity Monitor and select InDesign.
Choose Sample Process. Save the file and upload to http://pastebin.com/.
Then go to View >Send Signal: Abort (SIGABRT) and force the program to crash.
You'll get a crash report. Also upload that to pastebin.
Post the pastebin link here. We'll look at it and tell you what ID is doing when it hangs.

How do I get preview to be my default when opening pdf files again?
