Disable Single Plugins within "Additional Plugin Folder"

Dear Photoshoppers,
I'm using PSCS3 for quite some time now and I often run into a problem whenever I'm using the "Additional Plugin Folder"-option...
Every time I check out the latest trial for Photoshop and try to add the plugin folder of my primary Photoshop, the Trial Version complaints about various errors.
So my question is:
Is it possible to use the "Additional Plugins Folder" while simultaniously disable those single plugins of my original Photoshop that cause the trial version to complain about without deleting/deinstalling/moving those plugins in question?
Thanks in advance,
Daniel

You can disable plug-ins by putting a tilde (~) in front of their name.

  • Photoshop CC Additional Plugins Folder

Why on earth would Adobe remove the ability to point to a folder for additional plug-ins? I'm sure they will have lots of good reasons. However, the standard folder is embedded in the AppData folder in Windows. That folder resides on the system (C:) drive. I always install Plugs in a folder on a separate drive on my system (D:) so as to make it easy to manage and navigate.   Bad choice, guys.

Because the plugins folder is just for third party plugins, and because we saw the additional plugins folder mis-used (and causing problems for the user) far more often than it was used correctly.
Plus you can always use a shortcut to another folder from within the plugins folder.

  • Additional Plugins folder PS CC - make a shortcut to your location

A great start, i have used PS CS5 Extended for years and got the PS CC version last night, despite following the tutorials on Adobe all say to add additional folder as before, that is not an option in PS CC Preferences under edit - to be honest i thought allowing one custom location in the past was stingy (some 3rd party filters install where they want in program files rather than to a main plugins folder then sub folder you specify)
I have seen mentioned by an Adobe Staff member to create a shortcut to your plugins folder, but no instruction as to how (would been the smart thing to post that instruction), so how please do i do this?

    Using Windows 7 Ultimate
I had to select my custom 3rd party plugins main folder and use ........... Send To ..... Desktop (Create Shortcut) then follow instructions
After you complete that, you are faced with the fact its 64bit PS CC only installed by Adobe so you cannot use most plugin filters, try this below .....

Having used Photoshop for a long time, i am surprised at having to do all this, the time wasted searching for how to do so is not funny and all Adobe PS CC manuals or pages instruct to use the extra plugins folder location as per PS CS5, I always rated you as very good before.

Thanks Larry.  I thought so.  I will do this weekend.  Again, I appreciate your help.
Trying to get updated software – I am not a fan of the cloud stuff.  Nothing I can do about it.
    Thanks again Larry!

  • Additional Plugins Folder - Windows 7 64bit

Since getting a new computer with 64bit Windows 7, Photoshop CS4 isn't behaving.  The additional plugins folder is checked, and no matter what plugins I have in that folder, they are not recognized.  I remember in using older versions of Photoshop, you had to download some dll that I can't remember and put it in your system folder or something for the additional plugins to show.  Is that still the case?  If so, what do I need to do?

The plugins are not installed plugins.  They are in .8bf format.  I haven't even attempted my AlienSkin or AutoFX CDs yet.  The folder for these .8bf extension plugins is not even on the same hard disk as Photoshop, so I don't see how the 32-bit version that was installed along with the 64-bit version was corrupted by them.  This doesn't make sense to me.

  • How can I Disable XI Plugin for Firefox?

I have disabled the plugin on the Firefox plugin page (Tools>Add-ons), but it re-enables.  I have changed the two .dll files to .dxx.  Tools>Options>Applications does not show .pdf.  I also tried to disable from within Reader's options panel with no success.  I really don't want anything to open in my browser.  Can anyone help?

Firefox by default uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.  If you haven't manually changed that, it is not an Adobe Reader issue.

  • Firefox 8 and 9beta. Back and Forward buttons greyed out. Right click menu also has forward and back greyed out. Updated all plugins, then disabled all plugins and extensions and started in safe mode. No change.

My forward and back buttons are greyed out after update to Firefox 8. Tried to move to 9 beta, but same behavior. Back and Forward also greyed out in right click menu.
Attempted to fix by updating all plugins and extensions, then disabled all plugins and extensions, and then tried to start in safe mode. Nothing worked.

You could have backed up your profile folder. If you did, [[Recovering important data from an old profile]] can help :)

  • How do I disable the plugin check at Firefox Version 18 or higher startup?

This thread carries on from a discussion about How do I disable the plugin check at Firefox startup? As clearly Tylerdowner did not like my previous message and so would like me to obviously start a whole new thread to find out what’s going on.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/938821
Tyler: I am still looking for support and so are the other 83 people who have this problem. Hence why I am here, not to have to start another thread, not to have a go at you or just to run around further to get a clear, straight forward answer. I am now back to running Version 12 (which, has not solved the problem), with up-to-date plugins which are all supported.
Don’t fob us off, PLEASE HELP. Unless I am very much mistaken, this is the place we are meant to find help, right? Not to be completely blown off because somebody says something you don’t like. Perhaps someone better suited to this will help. I’ll follow on from then with MY problem from Tyler’s final comment as it is highly relevant:
Tylerdowner: Rumor Control, if you are running Firefox 18 with up to date plugins, then you are having a different problem than this thread is about. This is for Firefox 3.6 users who have old plugins, not those with updated software.

I should also add this info for all to see clear as part of my question (can be seen in More system details too):
I liked that version, was the first ever FireFox browser I tried and because of it made it my number 1 browser. There have been a heck of a lot from 3.6 to 18 though I think we’d all agree. Progress can and often is messy, but worth it.
Which is fine except mine, a different version, up-to-date plugins – and I’ve still same problem as these guys. It’s exactly the same even for me who has updated: How do we get rid of the Plugin Check Screen every time we start FireFox? I know I am up-to-date – as it tells me every single time!
I agree everyone should be up-to-date with the software and this may very well be the case that solves a lot of people with lower versions – yet I can say I updated from version 12 to the latest 18, spent the time getting half a dozen different updates as it wanted (all of which are supported according to the link you provided) plugins and yet I am still having the same problem as users with 3.6 and older plugins! Went back to version 12.0 and I am getting the problem since installing version 18.
Therefore from the fact I’m still getting the popup every time telling me everything is updated and safe, which is lovely to know, still doesn’t change the fact it won’t go away! Not a major problem but it is getting tedious now every single time.
Like I say I am willing to wait and see if this gets fixed anyway which to be fair, FireFox seem to do a lot better than the competition. If it doesn’t though I’d still rather go back to an older version just to be rid of it! But not even that is now working to be gone of it! It’s gotten that ridiculous for me now too!
    :)

  • Can 32-bit plugins remain in plugin folder and not crash Logic?

    Pre-sales question:
    1) If you have any 32-bit plugins in the plugin folder, can they just be disabled in the Logic X AU manager, or do they crash Logic X upon launch? The reason I ask is because I wanted to keep some in the folder for when I use another DAW that doesn't have a problem with them.
    Question on Logic 9:
    2) If I am in Mountain Lion, and wanted to run Logic 9 at times, plus Logic X, does Logic 9 have to be set to run at 32-bit so that it could still use the 32-bit plugins?
    3) If Logic 9 is running in 64-bit mode, can it access the 32-bit plugins in Mountain Lion?
I know the only thing will be that I can't open a Logic X session back in Logic 9, but I might want to bounce a quick part back in Logic 9 that uses a 32-bit plugin.
    Thanks.

    hi
    1. Yes you can leave your 32bit plugins in Component folder. Logic X just ignore them. They don't crash LPX
    2. Logic 9 can run with Logic X installed. It doesn't matter if you run LP9 in 32 or 64bit mode.LP 9 will work
    as before.
    3. Yes Logic 32bit mode can access 32bit plugins through the bridgre as before

  • StageWebView disable Flash Plugin

    Hello everybody,
I am developing an App with Adobe AIR for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
In some part of the application I use a StageWebView to display HTML-Content.
Unfortunately within the HTML-Content there is flash-content and its performance is bad.
Therefore we disabled rendering of Flash content  by adding "<application android:hardwareAccelerated="false"/>" to the AIR-Discriptor file.
But this options only prevent rendering/visibility of flash-content and actually does not disable the use of the plugin within the StageWebView.
Also if I changed under Android browser settings the usage of plugins the behavior is the same.
The native android browser behaves the right way.
Is there any posibility to really disable the plugin in StageWebView?
    Regards,
    Jan

The difference you're seeing is that iOS does not allow Flash plug-ins, even through StageWebView.
(sorry, can't help you on how to turn off the plug for Android)

  • External Plugins Folder Option Missing in CC?

After upgrading I realized I am missing some external plugins I had installed.
Those I am missing are ones that I had in an external folder that you could set in preferences. The ability to set an Additional Plugin Folder is gone. Can I set an external plugin folder?
    Thanks!

That does not work for TopazLabs plugins as their installer does not install the links into the proper folder in PS CC.
I copied the appropriate links from PS CS6 to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins
and restarted PS CC -- voila now have my four TopazLab plugins fully functioning again.

  • Cannot navigate to Plugins folder to add plugin

I'm running on a brand new MacBook Pro with OS X.
I've added the SmugMug plugin to the 'Plugins' folder inside of Lightroom.
However, when I go to 'add the plugin' inside of Lightroom the 'applications' directory is disabled and this I can't go to 'Show contents' and drill down into the folder structure to reach this plugin or any plugin.
    Help!!

Have you followed the instructions given by SmugMug? You should put them into your Application Support directory, which is in the hidden Library directory. You can go right into the correct directory by going to "Go > Go to Folder":
    And typing in: "~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules"
Here are the instructions copied from their website:
Install Lightroom, if you don't have it.
Download the latest version of the plugin HERE.
    Unzip the plugin.
Move the SmugMug.lrplugin to your desired storage location.
    Recommended Locations
    Mac OSX ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules
    Windows 7  C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules
    Windows Vista  C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules
    Windows XP  C:\Documents and Users\username\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules
    Start Lightroom.
    Select 'File > Plug-in Manager'.
    Click the 'Add' button.
Browse to the location where you saved the plugin, and select it.
    Click 'Add Plug-in'.
That's it, the plugin should show that it's 'Installed and Running'.

  • If there was a way to disable the plugin check completely, would this website be the right place to get an honest answer?

Most answers tell me how to update firefox or how to fix it, how to make the plugin check work or tell me some workarounds. That´s why i think Mozilla has no interest to let the people disable the plugin check, because it got implemented for a reason.
But the whole thing is not about computer science. It is about psychology, respect and the free will of the people.
At first i get annoyed by this plugin check, then i want my revenge. I want to disable the plugin check! I do not want to make the plugin check work. I do not want to install a new version of firefox. I do not want to update my firefox and i do not want to fix my firefox. In fact i want a (virtual) sledge hammer to destroy my firefox - just a little bit regarding the plugin check.
But one feels treated like a child, that has to be protected from it´s own decisions.
That´s when i feel annoyed the second time around.
So, if mozilla doesn´t grant me the choice to disable the plugin check at will, i am only free to decide which browser i´m going to use.

    @ the-edmeister
I´d like to apologise if you felt offended by my question. That was not my intention. Within my explanation i tried to describe the feelings of an unexperienced user like my father (77 years old). Because i felt the answers given so far were evasive. Everybody recommended to update or fix firefox respectively the plugin check, but no one seemed to answer the question if one can disable the plugin check completetly.
I just wanted to know if there is some kind of censorship that blends out answers inconvenient to mozilla. Thank you!

  • I am not able to print pdf file from coursesmart website. i disabled flash plugin and only images are on the pages. When i preview, i only see blank page...help

    i disabled flash plugin.
    now i open site - http://www.coursesmart.com/9780495797494/2
page contains images. When i click on print preview button, i cant see anything.... also i tried all pdf plugins and extensions, but none help to convert/print page in pdf. please help. how can i print whole page to pdf?

Doesn't work in Google Chrome either.
Looks that the page has a lot of protection measures (context menu is disabled) and DIVs that overlay each other, so it is possible that the print routine only sees an empty DIV and not the image or the real page.<br />
That big image consists of two parts as you can see via Tools > Page Info > Media and the inspector.

  • What are the basic components in the library plugins folder.

What are the standard plugins in the Library/Plugins folder for Snow Leopard? I'm trying to figure out what I can uninstall and I have no clue.

It probably contains the empty folders Components, HAL, MAS, and VST. (I'm not sure, since my folders do contain stuff.) But none of Apple's standard effects and instruments are sitting there.
