Disable the App Delete functionality

Hi,
does anyone know of a way to disable the Application delete functionality on the iPhone - or make it so it requires a passcode;
I tend to let my daughter to play with the phone for educational apps and movies and she has a tendancy to wander and delete apps (resulting a couple of times in data loss)
Anyone aware of a good way to cripple or restrict the App management ??

No, you cannot.
There are plenty of posts here about parents giving their kids the phone and it ending up badly - its your choice. But if the dribble or juice trips the moisture senors, you won't get any sympathy. Letting a child play with a $600 piece of sensitive electronics really isn't sensible but its your choice.
Buy her a cheap Touch on Ebay and play safe.

Thanks to Dave Sawyer for posting information about re-downloading an app which has been deleted. I deleted the app from iTunes. Then, when I synched, iTunes asked me if I wanted the items on my ipod touch copied back into iTunes. I said yes and then synched.
Readdledocs is now working again. It is no longer frozen. However, I have learned my lesson. I will download only pdf's from now on. I don't think it works so well with epub files. The text reflow feature of Readdledocs is exactly what I need to use for my work documents on my ipod touch.

Yes.
1) Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> ports on your existing wireless router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule
2) Go through the standard configuration suggested by the setup "wizard"
3) Then manually turn off the wireless function using AirPort Utility

no they are already in mp3 format I just tried that home sharing today because I couldnt find any other reason why they werent syncing. here is an example of a sync I just tried. I made an mp4 concert into an mp3 it came out perfect on my computer.. then I tried to sync it to my ipad with no luck, other than it going on my computer, it did not show up anywhere on my ipad in any area of the music sections etc playlists, songs, albums etc. Its just not there but remains on my computer. thats why I tried the home share today to see if that would help. Either I am really missing something or there is something wrong with this ipad. You're going to want to force it in recover mode thent o restore the device, unplug it from the computer, hold down the home button replug it back in intil you see the Itunes symbol with an arrow pointing towards it

My smart cover suddenly disables the auto lock function

Wow, sorry to hear of your experience. Seems strange that your disk would just eject like they did. It could be a lot of things but more than likely you just kind of have to start all over.
What I would do is insert your system disk and instead of going immediately to an install I would go to disk utility and erase the drive. That will erase everything on the disk and give you a new blank disk to start with. After that I would try to reinstall the system. Assuming that goes well then you should be restored to where it was when you purchased it. After that you can reinstall all your applications or personal files. I hope you have good backups.
I remember one time I was having a similar problem and don't ask my why I did it but I actually could not get it to install a system. I removed both of my ram sticks, shut the computer down for about 10 minutes including unplugging it from the wall plug, then reinstalled the ram, plugged it back in and started up from the system disk and all worked just fine. To this day I have no idea if pulling the ram helped but I have never had to do it since and for some dumb reason that solved the problem I was having, which is the same problem you are having now. Call it voodoo but it worked.

I have just come back to HK after my holiday. I'm really sure that I had turned off the cellular data function when I left HK.
However, I was really surprised when I received the bill. There is a big charge for data roaming. I have contact my mobile phone company and he replied that it is impossible to completely turn off the cellular data function of the iPhone. iPhone will get updating some data, such as weather automatically.
is it true??

This topic interests me. Can I just confirm that navigating to Settings>General>Mobile Data and turning:
1) Mobile Data
2) Enable 3G
3) Data Roaming
to "Off" will not entirely prevent access to cellular data networks? What if you navigated a step further to >Mobile Data Networks and simply deleted all entries, or replaced existing entries with garbage?

How do I disable the alt key function?

I have tried to clean my alt key on my macbook keyboard and now my macbook is acting like the key is hold down all the time eventhough it's not. Have tried to play around with the key, but its still the same. I wonder if I can disable the functions of the alt key in the mac os?

you can do it system preferences->keyboard and mouse->keyboard->modifier keys. set "option" to no action. however, option is really a pretty useful key so you might consider trying to fix you keyboard.

SmartView disables the "Save As" Function in MS Excel 2007 / Vista

Does anyone know how to get around this issue? I have Vista and Office 2007. When SmartView is installed, it does not allow me to use the "Save As" Function in Excel. SmartView has now rendered my Excel to be useless. Thank you Oracle.

I'm looking for a way to disable the capability of my mac not to use the remote of my iphone earphones. Anyone?
Since a couple of month, my iTunes starts to play/pause while moving the jack cable around (earphone or normal jack cable). Itunes is acting like the iPhone earphone remote is used when I'm slightly moving anything... but I'm not using the remote of these earphones, just a usual jack cable!
The anoying point is that, it is doing now a lot more, and it is really really annoying. Without moving my laptop or the cable (just the mouse or the glass near it), Itunes stops or starts playing.
I read that I should clean the jack's holes of my laptop. I tried, but the problem came again. Since I'm using my laptop with quite a big sound system, I can't pull in and out my jack cable until it works again without having huge sounds coming from the speakers.
So I don't see any other good solution. Has someone a trick? How do I make iTunes not checking the signal of the iPhone earphones remote?

You are asking about what is known as a "closed" network. If you do this, anytime a "new" device wants to join the network, the user will need to know the name of the wireless network and enter it, along with a password.
But, the idea of a "closed network", where users cannot see the name of your wireless network, is long out of date. That's because there are dozens of free utilities on the Internet that will display your "closed" network in seconds. All lthe neighborhhod teenagers, who are looking for an open wireless network that they can get on, already have all the tools they need.
So, your best bet is going to be to use WPA2 Personal security with a long, non-dictionary password. Chances are, you are already doing this.
True, a "closed" network might prevent a few honest neighbors from seeing the name of your wireless network, but it won't slow down anyone who really wants to see wireless networks in the area.
I don't bother with this, because I think it is a waste of time, but you may feel differently. If you want to do this, here is the procedure to follow on your Time Capsule:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab/label located just under the row of icons that you see
Click the Wireless Options button near the bottom of the window
Enter a check mark next to "Create a closed network"
Click Done
Click Update to save your settings and the Time Capsule will restart
If you have additional Apple routers like an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express, you must configure each of these devices separately as above.
