Disable the custmization of dynamic PDF

Hi ,
To develop the XDP , i am using the LC Designer . here i used the PDF security option to restrict editing the PDF .
Like thers is a possiblity to open the PDf in the tool (designer , acrobat ...) and easily they can modify and use the pdf . But my question is
1. is it possible to set the password while opening the XDP .
2. after setting the password in the XDP if i saved as the XDP then its not getting saved but if i save as PDF then its working fine .
Here my requirement
XDp + XML ==> PDF to end user
that PDF should not modfiy by any tool . how to disable the custmization?

Hi Dhiyane,
You need to look at either LiveCycle Forms/LiveCycle Output. Forms gives you extra capabilities in case you want to extend your services one day. But for your current requirement Output will suffice.

This isn't something that can be managed from the Flex end of things. You have to configure the document DRM.

You can not.
But you can apply document security or apply Digital Rights Management.
If you can get the users to add a special Acrobat/Reader application folder JS file, you could remove the button, but you would still have the menu items for 'Save' and 'Save as' and the keyboard short cut of '<Ctrl> + S'.

How do I disable the spacebar in my PDF?

Hi, created an interactive PDF in Acrobat pro V8.3.1 which works ok, the only issue I have is that I can't seem to disable the "next page" function that seems dedicated to the spacebar. Basically I need the viewer to navigate the PDF via the buttons I've created and not press the space bar to move to next page. Likewise the arrow keys do the same thing and it would be useful to disable these too. Any ideas out there greatly received!

You can't take away the user's ability to use a PDF in their usual way, only add to their experience.

How can I disable the new built-in PDF-viewer?

Hi Folks,
I recently got a strange problem with Nightly 15.0a1. All PDF documents are opened with the new built-in PDF viewer and it does not matter if it´s enabled or disabled - it just always opens and renders/loads the PDF file. But I want it to be done by Acrobat Reader, or save it to disk.
I tried Tools-->Options--->Applications and marked all PDF related stuff to "ask" or selected the Acrobat Reader, but it did not help at all.
Can anyone help me with this?

I have iannotate pdf and sign my pad but when I recieve a 1pg pdf it is open on the email and I can't modify or add to the pdf from one of my other programs.

I have a peculiar problem in my program.
I have a list box with two values.
1) With Ref to Reservation No.
2) Production order.
I am doing the object for Transfer Posting ( Similar to MIGO).
The contents of the listbox here are acting as the label to my select-options.
I have two select-options in my program.
1) Reservation No (s_rsnum for rsnum)
2) Production Order (s_porder for aufnr)
In runtime, based on the label selected in the listbox, the corresponding select-option should be in visible mode.
for eg: if i select "With ref to Reservation No" S_rsnum should be enabled and vice-versa.

How to disable the Save button For a pdf?

I have a requirement that when you open the livecycle developed pdf, the Save option available in the toolbar (Save As icon) and File menu of the Reader should be disabled. A button will be provided in the form separately to provide the Save functionality. Can anybody help me reg. this? Is there any setting available for this in Adobe Pro or any other tool?

It's not really difficult to disable the save button. But it depends on the context from where you want to delete it. even if you disable the save button the user has the option to print screen and create a fresh pdf. So your question has some philosophical aspects to deal with. Please mail me at [email protected] incase of further quries. HT2506 I want to disable the sidebar in Preview from opening every time I open a PDF. How?

I want to prevent "Preview" PDF viewer from opening the PDF's with sidebar. Trying to disable the sidebar, can't find anything that allows it to be disabled. I know how to disable the sidebar after the fact, but I find it annoying because it takes up space and is useless and I am constantly having to hide it. Can I just disable it from the preferences, that way when my PDF opens the sidebar is not there? Looked but couldn't find anything.

Enabling/disabling the 'display PDF in browser' via a script after Reader 9 is installed

So we have Reader 9 already installed on the machine, but we need a simple way that a user can click on a shortcut in the start menu to reconfigure how the PDF is opened - either from within the browser or outside of the brower.
In Reader 7, I was able to use this:
msiexec.exe /i {AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A71000000002} Remove=ReaderBrowserIntegration /norestart /qb-!
msiexec.exe /i {AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A71000000002} ADDLOCAL=ReaderBrowserIntegration /norestart /qb-!
which works well after the fact that Reader 7 is installed on the machine.
For Reader 9, things have changed, and have tried this:
msiexec.exe /i AcroRead.msi /qn DISABLE_BROWSER_INTEGRATION=YES
msiexec.exe /i AcroRead.msi /qn DISABLE_BROWSER_INTEGRATION=NO
The above don't work, nor if I run a repair instead of an install. I also tried to modify the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals\bBrowserIntegration then following in up with the appropriate msiexec command and that didn't work
No, asking users to go to the options and enable/disable the setting isn't ideal unfortunately as it requires too many clicks

Adobe Reader XI - dynamic PDF Form and the E-Mail Dialog

I have a dynamic PDF Form and we use the E-Mail function to save the XML-Data to local harddrive. That works until Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.1.2. But with the Adobe Reader XI (11.0.4) the E-Mail Dialog has changed so I am One is forced to send the XML file with Outlook or the internal mailer and has no option to save the file locally.
Does anyone know a workaround or something similar. The Live Cycle server with PDF extension is too expensive for our small project.

Hi Pat,
Are you using Adobe Reader XI? And not Acrobat. It does not ask me to save the form if there are unsaved changes.
I have used previous versions of reader for saving this form data and it did allow me to save it with ctrl+s. And those versions did prompt me to save the changes before closing.
I guess I should not have updated the reader.

Has the issue with font licences and embedding fonts in a dynamic PDF been solved?

Issue is that although LC lets you specify what typeface should be used for the caption/value in a form, it cannot discern the corresponding licencing requirements.
So in the case where even though a particular font isn’t used for any editable information – being set as the caption only – LC requires a font permitting embedding for editing, otherwise the font is not embedded at all and therefore is substituted for another typeface on a system where the font isn’t available.
Seems LC needs it's embedding requirements to catch up with the usage of type in a dynamic PDF, as in cases where the fonts bundled with Reader or system fonts aren't suitable, such as when a visual standard needs to be met, the user may not be overly keen on paying a significant financial penalty for editable font licences.

I don't think that it the case at all. If the font has a license for enbedding then that is what happens:
I accept that some fonts come with expensive "embedding for editing" licenses, but Adobe's implementation is in line with the font industry's expectations.
I don't think this is a "bug" that will be fixed.

I have a dynamic form that I created and I need to get it posted but am having some issues.
1. I need the fields to be optional and it tells me that the information entered is not what was expected
2. I have a button to click that will send the completed form to a department mailbox, but when the form arrives it is a .xml and only contains the newly entered information. What did I do wrong? I saved it as a dynamic pdf.
3. Is there a way to send you my form so that we can talk about it together???
I am on the verge of tears with frustration.....

I have working on this since January along with many other projects (mostly presentations) and the department that this form is for is chomping at the bit because they need to track their training requests coming in and are working to shift the process of how you request training for the entire enterprise. I am attaching the form so maybe you can take a peek at the damage I’ve done ☺ I think it would be helpful if I took a class, everything I’ve done I’ve taught myself with trial and tissues!
