Disable the Remote Management Service?

I know this is "Why would anyone want to do this" question but we are having conflicting issues in one of our labs between NetSupport and Zenworks when trying to run Adobe Flash. NetSupport is a tool that quite a few of our lab teachers use, it gives them the ability to see all of there students screens, take control of them, and a few other features, all from a console that runs on the teacher machine.
The problem comes in when running Flash if the student tries to create a text box and scroll inside of it then the computer crashes. We contacted NetSupport for help with this and they had us run a reporting tool that looked at the hardware setup and driver information. Then they setup a test machine and tried to replicate the problem and they were not able to. However they tech did note that in the scan of the machine there could be a conflicting issue between NetSupports Mirror Driver and DemoForge TightVNC Mirror Driver. I assumed the latter was part of Zenworks remote management. So we stopped the remote management service on a machine and tried to replicate the problem. We did not encounter the problem so we turned the remote management service back on and sure enough as soon as we tried to replicate the problem again the machine crashed.
Now when we tried to disable the remote management service in the services menu but it will not stay disable as soon as the machine restarts the remote management service is running and its set to automatic again.
Is there anyway to disable (preferable) or remove just the remote management piece with out removing the rest of the client from the machines?
Thanks,
Mike

You can configure this in the ZCC for which components you want
installed. You can deselect Remote Management.
Note: You can also disable or remove the Mirror Driver from the Devices
Control Panel under Display Drivers and it will not come back.

    Can't access screen sharing

You''ll need to turn off Remote Management and turn on Screen Sharing in the Sharing system preference of the system to which you want access. This will stop management by Apple Remote Desktop, if you happen to be using that software.

How do I disable this? Easy steps please and THANKS!!!

  • Remote Management service does not start

Has Novell got a fix for the issue where the Remote Management services
fails to start automatically on XP workstations? As we upgrade our clients
to XP, this has become a major headache. The service can be started
manually, and then the Remote Control feature of ZFD will work, providing
    the firewall is disabled.

Workaround is to create a batch file and put in the command:
    net start "remote management"
Create a shortcut to this batch file and put it in the startup group of
All Users in the "document and settings".

  • Remote Management Service?

I'm trying to set up my computer for screen sharing. The Screen Sharing option in the Sharing section of System Preferences is grayed out. There is a large yellow triangle with the ! symbol under which it reads "Screen sharing is currently being controlled by the Remote Management Service."
Can you direct me to a resource to explain this situation and how to enable my computer for screen sharing.
    Thank you.

Hi LGGeiger. Check out the following post for an explanation.

  • Screen Sharing controlled by 'remote management service'....What is that?

Under preferences, 'Sharing', I cannot activate screen sharing. Message says 'Screen sharing is currently being controlled by a remote management service'. What does this mean?? How can I correct????

It thinks that Remote Management is also checked on the list of Sharing services. Is it? If so, then screen sharing is running through the remote management service.
Ok, that sounded like a definition using the word to define it. Remote Management is a superset of screen sharing. Apple makes a product called Apple Remote Desktop that can be used for an administrator to manage lots of Macs. Remote Management is the service that talks to ARD. Screen sharing is part of remote management, but Apple also provides simple screen sharing for people that don't have/need ARD.

  • Screen sharing controlled by remote managing service

Unable to achieve screen sharing between my iMac and my MacBook Air.  System Preferences Sharing screen says 'Screen sharing is currently being controlled by Remote Managment service'.  How do I fix that and return to screen sharing capability?
    Thanks
    Jim

    1.  Indeed, Remote Management was checked.  I unchecked, then checked Screen Sharing - all seemed well.
    2.  Went to MacBook Air, restarted, attempted to Connect to Server, but connection failed.
    Now what?
PS  How did Remote Management get checked in the first place? I've never used that before.
    Thanks
    Jim

  • Where do I find the "Node Manager" service?

Can anyone tell me where to find the "Node Manager Service" In Call Manager 5.1.2 or IPCC 4.5?
My db_CRA database in IPCC is not updating the real time ICD statistics table and Bug CSCsc09160 seems to indicate that stopping and starting the "Node Managers" may fix the issue.
    From the bug report:
    Symptom:
Under the db_cra two tables (RtCSQsSummary and RtICDStatistics) are not updating. They stop updating concurrently with engine failovers and reboots. Only a hard reboot or a
service failover brings them back into an active state.
When the RtCSQsSummary and RtICDStatistics tables do update on the
primary DB they do not update on the secondary DB and the data on them
    doesnt get refreshed.
    Conditions:
stopping Node manager on node 1, data fails to be written to node 2. Then when we start NM back up on node 1 data is still not written to either data store
    Workaround:
Not much as a workaround, because the solution requirs stop on both Node
Managers and bring up node 1 first and the data starts writing to DB
    again.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Sven,
The reference to Session Manager is more of a concept of operations versus an entity.  The portion of code that you copied and pasted in your post is actually part of the verbiage used in an ASP script that BusinessObjects expects you to create in order for you to obtain your objective.  You can use this coding to create your own customized script or you might be able to search around on the web for a more complete solution.

  • Dependencies on the App Management Service in SharePoint 2013

Looking for a listing of services or features in SharePoint 2013 that are dependent on the App Management Service Application being provisioned...
Anyone have a good list of what those are or could provide me one here? I want to make sure i'm not overlooking something as i weigh the pro's and con's of setting this service up.

I'm not aware of a list of other services that are dependant on the App Management service.
My understanding is there aren't other out of the box services that depend on it. Update: Good news, I'm wrong :)
The Hybrid topologies (Search, BCS, Duet) between SharePoint Server 2013 and SharePoint Online do require the app management service so if you're condsidering these then you'll want to configure it.
If you're not using apps for SharePoint then you probably do not have a need to configure the service at this time.

  • The Web Management Service service terminated with service-specific error %%-2147483640,

We've been able to successfully, automatically, deploy our MVC and WebApi to IIS7.5 on Win2008 R2, for some time now.  Just this week the MSDeploy stopped working.  The System event log shows this error when attempting to restart the Web Management
Service on the targeted Win200 R2 server:
The Web Management Service service terminated with service-specific  error %%-2147483640.
The Application log shows this error at the same exact time the above error occurs.
    IISWMSVC_STARTUP_UNABLE_TO_ACTIVATE_HWC
Failed to activate the Hostable Web Core (HWC). Web Management Service startup failed.  Please reference the Win32 error in this  event for further information.  Exception:System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007007F):  The

The above error is preceded by this warning:
A listener channel for protocol 'http' in worker process '7164' serving application pool 'WMSvcAppPool' reported a listener channel  failure.  The data field contains the error number.
Which is preceded by this error:

We've attempted to reach the target server using https://ourservername:8172/MsDeploy.axd. The response is:
Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): The server refused the  connection
Is this occurring because the port is blocked or because the Web Management Service is not running?  (The Windows Firewall with Advanced Security dialog says the "Windows Firewall is off" and there are no entries in the firewall log (C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\Firewall).
We've seen some posts that indicate the certificate may be the issue. Not sure how to actually tell if this is the case though. The CERT we have says it is valid thru 2029.

  • Is it ever ok to entirely disable the remote Title button?

I am considering disabling the remote Title button in all menus, tracks, and stories in a DVD that has a main menu and one chapter menu. Doing so seems to solve all the navigation problems I was having due to the inconsistent behavior of DVD players, but I wonder whether viewers would find it weird that whenever they press the Title button they encountered the message "Operation prohibited by disk at this time" or the red-circle-with-a-slash symbol: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e9/SlashCircle.svg/120px-S lashCircle.svg.png
What do you think? Is it ok to entirely disable the remote Title button?
    Thanks,
    John Link
P.S. Here is a full description of the DVD structure:
    Main menu with four buttons:
    1) Play track 1 (Preview)
    2) Play track 2 with audio stream 1 (Full movie with regular soundtrack)
    3) Play story in track 2 with audio stream 2 (Full movie with director's commentary soundtrack)
    4) Go to chapter menu
Chapter menu with a button for each chapter in track 2 and a button to return to the main menu
Disable remote Title button in both menus, both tracks, and the story
Set remote Return button in main menu to go to chapter menu
Set remote Return button in chapter menu to go to main menu

ll, personally I wouldn't find it weird. I never use the title button on my DVD player remote control anyway. Don't even know what it does, TBH!
I wonder whether you would change your opinion if you were to find out what the remote Title button does.
