Disable "this connection is untrusted" page

I would like to completely disable the "this connection is untrusted dialog." I am an administrator and deal with many intranet sites. It is not cost effective to set an exception for each site. Corporate standards require us to use either IE, or Firefox, and I would prefer not to have to use IE.
To be clear: I am not looking for a solution that lessens the amount of overall clicks, like in browser.ssl override behavor in "about:config" nor am I looking for an Add-on (like "remember certificate exception"). I am looking for a way to remove the "this connection is untrusted" dialog completely.

This is a huge problem! I am seeing it discussed everywhere.

The thing is: a SSL connection with an invalid certificate is STILL BETTER than a completely open unprotected HTTP connection. This dialog makes it appear much worse, when in fact it not.
If FireFox encounters a "self-signed" HTTPS server, it should browse to it without delay, exactly as if it was an HTTP server. It should not give this scary warning. It also should NOT appear as a trusted site. It should just work like a normal HTTP site ''which does not have a valid certificate either''.
Please let people know how ridiculous this is.

How to disable "This connection is untrusted" ?

I just installed a fresh windows xp on my pc and I'm using the latest FF 26.0,but from the start i cant get to some pages,like in youtube,some pages doesnt come up and i get the "This connection is untrusted" page,in the technical details it says "youtube.com uses an invalid security certificate,the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain is provided.(Error code:sec_error_unknown_issuer).
also when i open FF add-ons manager tab Extensions,Appearance,Plugins and Services are ok but the Get Add-ons tab is not working,i get the same page as i stated above with the same technical details (instead of youtube.com it's services.addons.mozilla.org) and same error.
I've tried all solutions on the web and on this forum like reset FF, adjust time & date, using the "Skip cert error" add-on, deleting the cert8.db file, and so on - none of them helped me with this problem.
If it helps i use Avast! antivirus and window firewall,no other software on that pc.
I'm pretty clueless about what else i can do,any suggestion that might help?

Finally solved the problem...
when I found out with your help cor-er, that the issuer of the certificate is netscape i figured it has something to do with my internet provider, since im using special provider that blocks "adult" sites and other harmfull sites,i needed to add a certein certificated from my provider's web site,after doing so all problems were gone immidiatly.

How to disable "This Connection is Untrusted" warning in firefox using shell or perl script running on Linux Platform

We have QA automation jobs that invoke user interface tests in Firefox running on a virtual Linux host.
My tests perform regression, but I'm held up because of the Firefox This Connection is Untrusted warning.
My current requirement is to ignore this connection untrusted warning, which comes up when accessing an HTTPS website and i want this to be disabled through either a shell or a Perl script.
I can do this manually using the steps below, but this will not work for my current problem since the virtual Linux hosts are created dynamically on submission of automation jobs.
Go to Tools > Options > Advanced "Tab"(?) > Encryption Tab Click the "Validation" button, and uncheck the checkbox for checking validity.
Is there any Perl or shell script that disables this certificate warning?

Trying to completely disable "this connection is untrusted" dialog

I'm trying to completely disable the "this connection is untrusted" dialog. I've had this issue since 3.5 when the security model was changed. There used to be a plugin that reduced the amount of time it took to get through this dialog, but it stopped working with 4.0.
Issues:
I am a systems administrator that managages 1000's of servers & devices. A large number of these have internal websites, and they can be replaced/change frequently (HP ILO's, temporary dev websites, switches, etc.). the frequency of the turnover and the effort to create and assign a certificate to each of these websites would cause a lot more effort then going through the dialog choices. however, the dialog choices frequently slow my work down on a regular basis. Adding an excemption for each website would not work due to the frequently changing nature of my environment.
So to sum up:
I want to completely and utterly turn off/remove the "this connection is untrusted" dialogs from my Firefox. It will save me (and others I would imagine) time and effort to simply disable this dialog completely. I don't care how obscure it would be to get to work, as long as it's an option and it only has to be done once.

Is that content loaded in an iframe?
You can check that via the right-click context menu to see if there is a "This Frame" item. 
If that is the case then try top open the frame in a new tab or otherwise check the Technical Details of the error message.

Can't skip "This Connection is Untrusted" error page

The SSL certificate for one of the sites I use expired today a couple hours ago, and the devs of that site still haven't had spare time to update it yet. Suppose it's not a big issue, in most (other) browsers you can just review the problem and click on "continue anyway" link or something like that, when you're sure that the certificate was expected to become invalid. So you can visit the page requested with broken certificate in _single_ click. But not in Firefox.
As I remember - some time ago on the Cert Error page there was "I understand the risks" paragraph with the button "Add exception" below. Looks like it got disabled in Firefox 30 as I don't see it there. Okay, I googled around and found out that in about:config page there's a secret option browser.xul.error_pages.expert_bad_cert which was in disabled state by some reason (I personally haven't ever touched it before). Okay, now I'm able to open the ugly "Add exception" window, but when I add exception - nothing happens. Neither temporary not permanent exception option allowes me to view the site. "This Connection is Untrusted", browser says. Period.
After that I've tried to install "Skip cert error" add-on - with no success. Even if I add the site URL to whitelist in add-on options, which "in theory" should bypass ANY security checks for this exactly domain - then I still end up staring at "This Connection is Untrusted" error which simply can't be bypassed by any means.
The sites I've tried to reach are https://lists.openwrt.org and https://forum.openwrt.org. It's interesting though, the certificate is also expired at https://openwrt.org, but that site can be added to exception list and then firefox opens it. However I see completely NO WAY to make firefox open https://lists.openwrt.org or https://forum.openwrt.org.
I've run out of ideas and came here. Hope somebody knows how to workaround this issue.
PS: I wonder why the hell there's no option to bypass the check by some _simple_ means like in other browsers so that I could reach requested site in seconds rather then searching for settings/addons/workarounds for hours. Thank you firefox for such enourmous care for security, you've made me run Internet Explorer again...
Update 1:
It appears that in this case the certificate was registered for domain openwrt.org, but was also used for forum and lists subdomains. Now it is expired, but the expiration issue can be ignored by exception list only for openwrt.org itself. Other subdomains are actually added to exception list, but it doesn't work for them, so that browser is stuck at "untrusted connection" error which can't be ignored or skipped. What a shame.
Update 2:
I was quiet wrong in Update 1: in fact the SSL certificate for openwrt.org was Level 2 certificate with correcly registered subdomains like forum.openwrt.org and lists.openwrt.org. However when the certificate expired, only openwrt.org exception worked and the site was browseable. All the subdomains could be added to exceptions but regardless of that fact firefox refused to open those sites and was stuck on unskippable "untrusted connection" error page.
For now openwrt.org maintainers have already renewed their certificate so the problem can't be observed on those domains anymore. However I believe that the problem in firefox exceptions handling still exists and should be fixed in future firefox releases.

For what it's worth, I see the "I understand the risk" section of this page in Firefox 33.0.3: https://forum.anomos.info/ -- but I have not added an exception for the top level site, so maybe that's a partial explanation for the difference.
Also, a new release of Firefox is out today which makes some changes for certificate issues.

Oh and by the way were going to make you jump through hoops and clicks check boxes and do this and do that before we let you go on your merry way, wait, " Are you really sure that you want to be doing this?" Do you know what your doing, perhaps you should call your ISP for advice, and get support from someone who has nothing to do with this issue.

I have tried almost all the solution to get rid of the issues but could not find a solution.
My Chrome and IE is working fine as its expected in same machine but not firefox.

Wrong messages about invalid certifcates - "This connection is untrusted"

Introduced with appr. FF 11/12/13 I experienced very often, nearly reproducible, "This connection is untrusted" messages when trying to connect to 100% trustworthy sites with 100% trustworthy and valid certficates. Sometimes on initial connect, sometimes within a https session. Very often reproducible:
- Connect to https site - fine
- connect to whatever http (NOT https) site in another window/tab: fine
- switch to first tab window/tab and navigate to different page: "connection is untrusted"
When message appears on first connect: Close FF, restart FF. Maybe several times.
As I've checked my machine with several malware etc. tools available to be sure not to have any trojans or similar sh... on my machine, also traced with sysinternal.com tools the TCP/IP traffic, process activtity etc., I'm sure that my machine is clean.
As now, FF 14.0.1, this DOES NOT happen again, have there been any known issues about this behaviour?

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some security software intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.
Some examples are ESET and Bitdefender.
*ESET setup -> advanced setup -> extend web and email tree -> SSL
*SSL protocol: Do not scan SSL protocol
Disable Scan SSL in the BitDefender settings.
*BitDefender -> Privacy settings -> disable Scan SSL

Verified that system clock is correct
Cleared all cache, history, cookies, etc.; didn't help
Started Firefox in Safe Mode; didn't help

Ran Microsoft Safety Scan for malware; nothing was found

This problem exists ONLY in my user profile and ONLY in Firefox. All 5 other users can run Firefox with no problem. I can run IE and Chrome with no problem.

I use Avast and Windows Firewall. Had never heard of ESET or BitDefender before searching these forums.
A lot of the sites don't give me the option to Make an Exception. The two that I tried to make exceptions for, still wouldn't open.

unfortunately the fiddler2 issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

This Connection is Untrusted keeps coming up. It won't accept any certificates.

Whenever I try to go to any page that requires a log in I keep getting this message page "This Connection is Untrusted". On some pages it won't give me the option to accept and go on ( example: when I try to log in to YouTube). It seems that Firefox does this when I unplug my computer for a couple of days. I've tried to go into settings and change the certificates part but I can't get anything to work.

Untrusted?? REALLY?? maps.google.com is untrusted!?! Oh, and support.mozilla.org is ALSO untrusted? I'm using Chrome to post this because in the case of support.mozilla.org, there IS no option that allows me onto the site.
Pretty much every site I go to has this problem and Firefox is now all but unusable to me. And I'm on a corporate machine, so it's not like I have a lot of options here. And it's not our corporate network, because only a few of us have this problem.

This connection is untrusted while opening gmail, facebook

As of this morning i have not been able to open gmail or facebook with firefox.
1. I have not made any OS changes or antivirus changes since yesterday.
2. I always set my cache and history to be cleared when i close firefox.
3. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox a few times (completely following the instructions on the mozilla page where the hidden roaming firefox directory is to be removed).
4. I reverted back to Firefox 32.0.3 and it did not solve the problem.
5. I ran malwarebytes and Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection and there are no viruses or malware detected.
6. I am running Win 7.
7. I can open these sites without a problem on Chrome or IE.

Thanks for your input. My issue got fixed. It seemed to be a proxy issue. Once this variable was set in about:config to the proxy name I was again able to access all the above mentioned sites: ''network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris''. The value of this variable was '''thenameofmycompany.com'''.
I don't know what happened to change this overnight when i did not update the browser but somehow this was the issue. Also looks like when i downloaded and installed firefox this variable did not get set automatically.
