Disable Webcam Built-in Microphone

Hello, I have a Live! Cam Video IM VF0350.
I cant seem to get the microphone to disable and so when I talk to my friends on skype the sound quality is very poor. I just want to use my headset microphone.
Any suggestions
Thanks.

*UPDATE*
Had no success with AER off, so uninstalled Logitech Webcam and lo and behold, my 4. surround has returned! No explanation other than the current version of the Logitech driver must be bogus...as soon as I installed it, I lost my 4. surround after the restart. Likewise once uninstalled, 4. surround sound came back after the restart.
If there's any updates on why this is happening, I'd be grateful to hear of them!
Thanks for the help though.

  • How can I TEMPORARILY disable built-in microphone?

I like to record music from the web on my Touchsmart 310-1145UK (BTW this is 3 months old but HP don't recognise this model number so I can't contact customer support on-line!!!  It is a 20 inch screen all-in-one PC).
I use Audacity to record, this worked fine EXCEPT that it also recorded all the noise that the built-in microphone picked up.
I found a way of disabling it, but this turned out to be permanent and there was no way of getting it back apart from a system restore.
How can I stop the micrphone, or turn it down so it doesn't work, and then easily turn it back on again?

Here is a link to your notebook's support portal.  That is indeed a recognized HP product name. I searched the HP server for the link.
In the systray, right-click on the volume icon. Select Recording devices.  Right-click on the microphone icone and select  Disable and select OK To enable the microphone, just go back into the very same Windows that you disabled it in.
You can also access the sound Window by typing sound in the start search box. Select sound and then select the Recording tab.
    Best regards,

  • Built-in microphone of a usb webcam in snow leopard

    Hi,
This is probably a bug in snow leopard. Not sure if anyone has this issue.
I've tested 3 different webcam on this operating system. One is Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 (Mine's called Webcam Pro 9000, according to Logitech customer service, they are exactly the same products with different name on the box.), one is Logitech Mac Fusion, and the last one is Microsoft VX-5500.
All works under snow leopard except sometimes after wake from sleep or restart, the built-in microphone doesn't work anymore.
If I go System > Preferences > Sound and choose Input, the built-in microphone shows as "Unknown Audio Devices" on all three cameras, but there's no "bars" in the sound indicator below the volume control. Sound doesn't work in Quicktime X nor any other applications, but the video works perfectly all the time.

Just want to add to this post:
The USB webcam's built-in mic that doesn't work seems to be magic mouse related. (Possible drivers or bluetooth related)
If I use a PC USB wireless mouse, after wake from sleep or a fresh restart, the usb webcam's built-in microphone works as charm. If I turn on magic mouse to wake the mac, the usb webcam's built-in microphone doesn't work. However, the video works just fine.
Another interesting discovery is that when I change the display resolution to 1080p (my mac's running on a tv), there seems to be flicker problem with the mouse pointer. The screen is just fine but the magic mouse pointer seems to jump around the screen. It doesn't happen when I use the standard PC USB wireless mouse.
Also, when the usb webcam's built-in mic stops working, the two-finger swipe function of the magic mouse doesn't work sometimes.
I'm not sure if anybody have the same issue but I hope this would help somebody troubleshooting the problem. I'm currently switching to a usb wireless mouse instead of the magic mouse and everything is now working just fine, even the built-in microphone.

  • Satellite C650-197 Built In Microphone and Jacks not working

As the title, I tried to use the my microphone that comes inbuilt on this model (integrated VGA Web Camera with built-in microphone) and found its not working. Tried to plug in an external microphone via the mic jack and still not recording.
I cant seem to find the drivers for the inbuilt or the jack anywhere.
    Any ideas?

    Hi
    > I cant seem to find the drivers for the inbuilt or the jack anywhere.
Such drivers dont exist. The sound card driver controls everything.
I think you should firstly start the webcam software and should test the mic because the internal mic is a part of the webcam.
The webcam software provides an tab; settings and properties. In one of these tabs you would find settings for audio.
There you could increase the mic volume and could record small audio session.
Additionally I recommend checking the settings in control panel -> sound.
Be sure that mic volume is set to max. Don't forget to check hidden and disabled devices there...

  • Built in microphone is not working on my Tecra A9

    I have a Tecra A9 PTS52A-OEYO3F
My operating system is XP Professional.
I am trying to configure a Skype account without having to purchase a plug in microphone. I believe that my Tecra A9 has a built in microphone. When I test hardware via Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices / Voice / Test Hardware, an error message indicates that my voice could not be detected. A similar Skype test also revealed that my voice could not be detected.
The user manual at page 4-23 under the heading Microphone Level sets out the process for changing the recording level. Step 1 requires right clicking of speaker icon on the task bar to reveal Recording Devices on the sub menu. When I perform the right clicking of the speaker icon the menu revealed comprises "Open Volume Control" and "Adjust Audio Properties". There is no "Recording Devices" option hence the instructions in the user manual do not apply.
I am not convinced that I have a built in microphone, and if I do then why is it not functioning.
    Thanks

    Hi,
As i know, the laptops equipped with webcam should have inbuilt microphone, too. Update a sound driver, check sound settings well...........

  • Re: Portege R700-184 - Built in microphone not working

I can't seem to get the built in microphone to work. However, it works fine with an external usb microphone.
Have tried changing the settings in the control panel called 'Sound' where I click on the 'Recording Tab'. 'Microphone' shows a green tick as the default device. Strangly, the graduated bar to the right of the microphone, sometimes shows random green activity, but nothing which relates to any sounds I make at the time. Driver is working and up to date.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Hey,
    >Driver is working and up to date.
What driver you mean exactly? Hopefully not the sound driver because it has nothing to do with internal microphone. It belongs to webcam so you should reinstall/update the webcam driver.
    Check this!!!

  • Satellite C650-010 - Built in microphone not working

built in microphone did not work after three weeks. I tried to install new driver software from Toshiba website, but did not help. External webcam with microphone works well.
Yesterday microphone worked for ten minutes but then mute again.

    Hey,
    > I tried to install new driver software from Toshiba website
What driver software you have installed?
The microphone belongs to internal webcam so you have to reinstall the webcam driver if internal microphone doesnt work properly.
    > but then mute again.
Does this mean the internal microphone is muted? Please check the Windows sound settings if the microphone is listed properly under recording devices and set as default device.

  • Built in microphone problem with my hp pavillion dv6000

Hi, I was uninstalling a program on my add/remove programs list the other day and being in a hurry I accidentally clicked whatever software necessary for my built in microphone to work. I know it started with a C but I didn't see the whole title before it was uninstalled. I have windows vista and my notebook is a HP pavillion dv6000. Now when i open my sound recorder program it says " An audio recording device cannot be found". I'm almost positive whatever I clicked uninstalled my driver/software/etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hi,
I did a very similar thing and accidently disabled my internal mike. Now when I open my sound recorder, I get an error message saying "Audio recording device not found". Will be grateful if you could inform me of the solution to this problem.
    Thank you.

  • Recording device (built in microphone)

    Model M645/Win7 / 64
Cannot re-activate built in microphone after selecting the minijack plug in as input device.
In  Skype/ options/ no input device shown ???  same as using the 'win sound devices' none are shown.
please assist on this simple problem.

Ok, I fixed the problem, actually it was an overlook on my part. Here's what I did:
Go to Control panel/Sounds/Recording.    Right-click In the blank area where it says 'no recording devices' and select 'show disabled devices'   and reselect the microphone..........s... happens.

  • Does Satellite A205-5800 have a built in microphone?

Okay, I just bought this laptop from a local pawn shop, and I can't find an online manual so I am wondering if this top has a built in microphone. I updated the "realtek" audio driver. And when I go to the "recording device" it says " Microphone, high definition audio device, not plugged in. I was wondering if it doesn't have a built in mic, am I wasting my time looking for a driver for this? I can't even find this on the Toshiba website. Thank you for your time and expertise!

    Has this Satellite Webcam?
I ask it because every notebook with Webcam has a built in microphone.

  • Satellite A300-1NO - built in microphone has dim sound

    Hello everybody.
I've noticed that my built in microphone has very low volume. When I'm voice chatting, people hardly hear what i am speaking. I've got Realtek HD Audio Manager, downloaded the sound driver from the Toshiba website. Everything set to 100%, microphone boost is only 20 dB because 30dB is too noisy. I checked webcam assistant too. I don't know what should I do.
When I use external microphone, it sounds like OK. But the built in mic is quiet and flat, dim.

i downloaded the driver from there, "sound-20080728120308.zip" now i have 6.0.1.5599 version of sound driver. now it's louder, but i don't know if it is now good quality or not. i've uploaded a recorded voice
everything set to 100% percent, boost is 30 dB. noise reduction is ON, acoustic echo cancellation ON, default format 16bit, 48000Hz (DVD quality)
my external microphone is still better than built in. at least built in mic is now louder than it was

  • Toshiba Sattelite A200-1A9 Built in microphone not working

    Model Name: SATELLITE A200-1A9
    Model NO: PSAE0E-01S025AV
    Serial NO: 47193782K
I install Windows 7 on my laptop and the built in microphone stopped working. Tried everything suggested on all posts for not woking built in microphone and still I am not able to record any voice or to use Skype, etc.
When going to 'Recording Devices' I have two Microphones (one front and one ATAPI), but the green bar on the right does not move when making sound. I tried disabling the front microphone, still no success.
    Any help will be appreciated!

    Hi Dokie,
I scan my pc with a Device Manager and it showed these results. Some of the drivers are not correctly installed I guess and these are the Realtek driver and the Chicony camera driver. Do you think this might be the reason?
    Thanks

  • My Aspire 5750-6438 built in microphone not working.

My Aspire 5750-6438 built in microphone not working. My OS is windows 7 64-bit. I have updated all the driver. Built in microphone is not even recognized in the sound setting.

    welly267,
Go into the device manager and check to see if there is a yellow or red icon next to your built-in microphone. If there is a red one, it's probably disabled, see if you can enable it. If it is yellow, right click to uninstall it, then restart your notebook to see if it installs correct and starts working. Look through these steps if it does start showing up in the sound manager.
If it does not, you can try to remember when it worked last and try a system restore. If you cannot remember, you might have a hardware problem or can try to perform a recovery as a last resort to see if that solves it.
