Disable window resizing and lock them?

Is it possible through a prefernce or maybe an application to disable window resizing and lock their positions. I let my friends and family use my computer and they always move stuff around and resize everything. It really annoys me and I hate having to adjust everything to the way I like which I have spent hours setting up so they can just destory in a matter of seconds. I know I can setup a guest account but I don't have the memory or processing power for it since I usually have about 3-5 applications always open. I would also I like to steer clear from that route if possible. Thanks for any help on my issue! I did try searching to no avail however if this is already been discussed I appologize and a link to the discussion would be appreicated.

The setting up and use of a guest account will not affect the memory or processing power but will use some of the hard disk space depending on how much stuff you allow your guest user(s) to save.
You can easily set your favourite apps to load when you login again by clicking and holding on the app icon in the your Dock before you setup the new account - a pop menu appears. The advantage of having a separate account is that if you set it up as a non-administrator account the guests would not be able to screw up things too much, where as at present they could cause havoc.

Deleting roles, expiring users and locking them

I have list of users (100s of them) who have not logged in system for quite some time.
Now I have to remove roles assigned to them, expire them and lock them.
Is there a faster way to do it. I am asking this becuase there are 100s of them

If you place a termination date on the user there is no need to lock or remove roles. The user will not be able to access the system. Placing a term date is the best way to keep a user out. Just locking them a user could be unlocked easily and without thought but if a user has a term date then an administrator will be more likely to question why the date should be removed or changed.
You can place an expiration date and even a lock by using SU10. If you download the user IDs to a txt file you can upload them into SU10 and mass change the expiration date of all users at one time.

Intel Matrix Storage Manager disables Windows Update and Windows Validation on Windows 7 64-bit

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad R61 8918CTO on which I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64-bit) on a new Seagate Momentus XT 750GB drive. The installation was trouble-free, as were all of the post-install Windows Updates.
Then I installed ThinkVantage System Update 4.03 and used it to install most of the available Lenovo updates. Big mistake. I'll spare you a detailed account of the hours I wasted troubleshooting, rolling back to previous restore points, and doing more troubleshooting, but it turns out that installing Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver v. 8.9.2.1002 caused Windows Update and Windows Validation to fail.
Symptoms: Windows Update control panel can't check for updates and reports that the Windows Update service isn't running when it actually is. Online Windows Validation fails and the standalone Windows Validation utility won't install. Microsoft programs that require a validated copy of Windows (e.g., Microsoft Security Essentials) won't install.
Solution: Roll back the driver for the relevant SATA controller to the previous driver.
I've reinstalled ThinkVantage System Update 4.03 and hidden the proposed Intel Matrix Storage Manager update; since then, I've used it to complete my Lenovo updates without issue.
I hope this post will help other people with this problem find the solution a lot faster than it took me!

This happened after installing a new advanced format drive with 4k-byte sectors, I'd guess. If the storage driver doesn't report the physical sector size to Windows, update fails.
I just ran across this myself (again) putting Win 7 on a T400.
I don't know why this is still going on. It may be that the update lists for older machines still have pre-AF-drive drivers listed.
FYI, another fix is going to the Intel site and installing the latest Matrix Storage Manager AHCI driver. This may be more desirable than rolling back to an older driver in some cases.

Mavericks and MacMini - after sleep mode windows resized and glued to left upper corner

Hi!
I have MacMini and HDMI monitor. When I go to bed, I use sleep mode and off monitor using power button (I don't like standby light). When I woke up, I press on my touchpad to wake up my MacMini, after that I stand up and turning on monitor. All works fine, until I installed Mavericks. Now, after turning on, all windows changed size to very small and glued to left upper corner. I can't resize or move window. Only shutdown app can help. But, I can't shutdown Finder, I need reboot MacMini. It's very annoying.
As I understand, this problem appear, when I wake up MacMini before turning monitor on. When I turned on monitor and after that woke up MacMini, windows don't change his sizes.
What can I do to solve this problem?

This issue is driving me insane. I lock my computer a couple of times a day as I go to meeting and what not. Everytime either Outlook or VMWare or Chrome will be screwed up when I awake it from sleep. I have to kill the app and start it back up again or I can't get it out of its weird "docked" mode. Basically the application window will be nearly off the screen. I can move it on the screen but the caption will be off screen still and I will not be able to size the window at all. It really messes VMWare's mind up when this happens.
I wanted Mavericks as it was supposed to fix multiple monitor issues but it has made it worse. Very sorry I upgraded. I hope they fix it in the next bug patch. I just cuss at the stupid thing when I wake it.

Window resizing and how to keep the window at that size.

Having trouble with the applications window not staying the same size after I resize it. I know that dragging the corner will resize as well as the green button, but after I close it, it reverts back the small window and not to the resized window after I have done the above. Went to an apple store and no one there knew how to fix it or maybe I didn't explain myself very well.

I assume you're opening the Applications folder in a separate window through an alias or a Dock icon... if so, just open it, move and resize it the way you want, then immediately close it again. That should do the trick.

I'd recommend restarting the iPhone, if you haven't done so already. If restarting the phone hasn't got you on your way to sending pictures again, we've an article that provides further helpful information.
If you still can't send or receive MMS messages
To send and receive MMS messages on your iPhone, verify that your wireless carrier supports MMS2.
Ensure that MMS Messaging is turned on in Settings > Messages.
Verify that your phone is able to access cellular data.
Some carriers allow you to edit your APN (Access Point Name), which may prevent MMS from working.
If you are roaming outside your calling area, make sure you have Data Roaming turned on in Settings > General > Cellular to send or receive MMS content.
While on a phone call, you will be unable to send or receive MMS messages when using an EDGE, GPRS, or any CDMA cellular data network. After the phone call ends, you will receive any incoming messages. If you tried to send an MMS message, you may need to send it again.
If the issue persists and your wireless carrier has confirmed that your wireless account is provisioned2 for MMS, restore the iPhone.

Why does a new firefox version disable common features and hide them completely from use

When a new version of Firefox comes out of late, all to often when it has new features or a programmer has a different idea of what they like compared to the previous release, the features are enabled by default and things are rearranged without user choice. A case in point is that when I installed Firefox 24 on my wife's computer it disabled the menu bar and put the tabs on top. To add insult to injury there was no settings option to put the tabs back underneath!!! I don't care how much someone likes tabs on top, the proper way to handle these sorts of feature upgrades is to leave everything as it was in terms of settings and display a web page that has a button that says what each change is with a yes and no button so the user can try if they WANT or not, not just say (effectively) "we are the overlords and want you to use this and we know better". If this method is too difficult then just DON'T change the settings and leave it up to a "what's new" page. I know this is free SW and a lot of dedicated people contribute, but to do your darnedest to confuse or annoy your users is not the way to do it. Imagine if you took your car into have a new radio fitted and when you got it back the brake pedal was in the backseat and the guy said "we like it better that way"
BTW, to have the tabs immediately above the web pages you are viewing makes way more sense than having them 3 lines away.

I certainly agree that there were considerable changes made in Firefox v4 when it was released in March 2011. I was not a volunteer on this forum back then but looking back through the history there were quite a few support requests asking about how to make Firefox look like it used to. It was a big change to the UI.
From the support volunteers' perspective all we can do is to try to provide clear, and easy to follow, answers when users ask about changes made in new versions.
From Mozilla's perspective I believe one of the motivations behind introducing the [https://blog.mozilla.org/channels/2011/07/18/every-six-weeks/ rapid release calendar] was to ensure that updates were more incremental and less intrusive to users (i.e. only a few changes made with each release).
The Firefox UI continues to evolve (for example a new logo was recently adopted) but since the update to v4 updates have been more continuous and each release has been more minor.
My experience as a support volunteer is that this is an improvement for the users. The changes are made gradually and people have time to adapt.
Having said that the next release of Firefox (v25) will introduce the first major redesign since v4 ([http://techcrunch.com/2013/06/01/mozilla-readies-major-firefox-redesign-as-it-ponders-what-the-browser-of-the-future-should-look-like/ Australis]).
Those that prefer not to install feature updates and instead to just get security updates tend to use Firefox's Extended Support Release (ESR) versions. See here for more information:

Window resizing and repaint()

hiya all. I was wondering what specifically was called when resizing a JFrame. Im assuming that repaint() is called as when i resize my JFrame the paintComponant method is run, but is there anything else? The reason i am asking is that i have an application that the user area changes size while in use, hence the scrollBars also changing to reflect the new size of the JPanel inside. This works when resizing the window, but when paintComponant is called via repaint() nothing happens (to the scrollbars), I have included the setPreferredSize(..) method at the end of my paintComponant() method, which sets the new size for the panel. Im sure its something simple but if anyone could help me out it would solve an irritating problem!

Disabled HTML Fields and Coloring them

There are about 100+ JSPs/HTML pages in my application. Some of them have readonly/disabled fields. I have to color such fields using a color of client choice. So I have written the following in CSS with out adding any class attributes for HTML fields.
input[disabled]{..........;}The solution is working for Opera, Safari and Firefox but not for IE.
Is there any solution where I can use just CSS without any class attribute for HTML controls.

IE6 or older indeed doesn't support [CSS selectors|http://www.quirksmode.org/css/contents.html] yet. Use a onload Javascript function.
But IE7 should support it in [standards mode|http://hsivonen.iki.fi/doctype/].

File Info (Exif) window empty and locks CS4

Greetings. In Photoshop CS4, my File>Info window is now blank (empty) and modal, i.e., I must close Photoshop via Task Manager (Windows 7).

I am not quiet understanding your question, could you clarify your question, as far as I know, an answer file is an XML-based file that contains setting definitions and values
to use during Windows Setup. In an answer file, you specify various setup options, including how to partition disks, the location of the Windows image to install, and the product key to apply. You can also specify values that apply to the Windows installation,
such as names of user accounts, display settings, and Internet Explorer favorites. The answer file for Setup is typically called Unattend.xml.
