Disable wireless broadcasting - HP Laserjet p1102w

I have been tasked with disabling the wireless on our HP Laserjet p1102w printers. Following the instructions in the manual I have disabled the wireless, but it continues to broadcast.
Printing the Configuration page verifies the Wireless Status = Disabled.
Any idea what I can do to disable the printers from broadcasting completely?

I have disabled the wireless by holding down the button for 5 seconds, and printed the configuration page to verify it was disabled. However, whenever a laptop is near it still picks up the wireless signal coming from the printers.
I would like to stop it from broadcasting completely.

How do I disable SSID broadcasting for HP laserjet pro 400 color mfp m475dw.  I have turned off wireless configuration through printer web console, but it is still broadcasting.  I have also updated the firmware to latest available 20131028.

  • Wireless Printing - HP LaserJet P1102w

Yesterday I purchased an HP LaserJet P1102w printer, followed all the instructions that came in the pack and enjoyed trouble free wireless printing for a short little while, even from my iPhone 4 after updating the firmware on the printer.
My problem now is that the printer seems to keep dropping its connection with the router. The blue wireless indicator light seems to be quite often flashing rather than static.
This is an issue as when I want to print a document I have to wait for a long time before the documents come out of the printer. It is tedious.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be welcome.

Reboot the router, make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the network as best you can.  Then download and run this tool - the Print and Scan Doctor:

    Hey @Shellyschoon,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're having an issue setting up and installing your HP Laserjet P1102w printer wirelessly with your Mac OS X 10.6.8. I'd be more than happy to help you with getting up and running wirelessly today!
The HTML Config errors that you're getting seem to be an issue with your internet browser. Can I have you start by changing your default browser on  your Mac and giving the wireless configuration another attempt?
In order to change your Mac's default browser (preferably to Safari), you want to go to:
    Choosing a default web browser
    Open Safari (/Applications).
From the Safari menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the General button.
Choose your desired browser from the "Default web browser" pop-up menu.
Mac OS X: How to change your default email application or web browser
Once your default web browser is changed to Safari, try to run the HTML Config wireless setup again.
Let me know if this works for you. Best of luck!

  • Message 'computer unable to connect to printer' appears during installation of laserjet p1102w.

During installation of wireless software for Laserjet P1102W on computer with XP Professional (pk2), the message ' printer was able to connect to wireless network.  However, this computer is unable to connect to the printer.'   I verified the computer and printer both connected to same named network with same WEP , open, key, etc. credentials.  I have a linksys connected to the computer and cable modem. When I connect using the USB connect wire to the computer directly, I can print.   Both software, wired and wireless, were loaded.  My HP Inkjet printer is wired to the linksys and works for multiple wireless network computers. Do I need to have a different printer? I thought i could still have a truly wireless printer!?!  I am a novice at this.  Thanks for any assistance you can give.
    This question was solved.

I called HP support.  The tech was very knowledgeable and helpful.  The HP Smart Install program (in printer and on CD) that came in the box  was an old version.  I needed to reset the printer back to factory default and  download the new firmware from HP.com internet site.
The older software had an incorrect router address (network). You can see the router (IP) address when you do the Self Test (holding down the 'on' button) under network Information.  The IPv4 address should be the same as your router.  Now my printer and computer are looking at the same network.
Works great!  Love this LaserJet.  Faster than my last HP LaserJet 4L.

  • HP LaserJet P1102w will only print wirelessly if I turn the printer off and on again

I have 2 Laserjet P1102w that work fine printing through USB.  However, I was hoping this printer could become the standard wireless printer for individual users in the office.  I have setup 2 different printers wirelessly with their own static, reserved IP addresses and they are connected to our wireless access point (WPA).  We have  all laptops that are connected to the network via the same access point as well as through hard wired ethernet.  In all cases, they are on the same subnet.
Once I connect any laptop to one of these printers wirelessly through either the "smart install" client or the latest regular installation exe off of HP's site, it will print fine initially.  However, whenever I undock the laptop or even just wait a few hours, the connection will be lost and I cannot print.  The queue just says "Error - Printing" when I print sometihng.  No errors in the logs.  The connection will come back if I turn off the printer and turn it back on.  This is very annoying and will probably not be acceptable to the users.
So I wanted to do more testing and connected both printers to my laptop wirelessly and made sure they could print successfully.  I opened 2 command windows and ran a ping -t on each IP address to see at what point the connection dies.  The ping will reply until I undock and go from hard wired / wireless to just wireless.. then it will say "Destination unreachable" and I can't even access the web interface. Even if I redock to hard wired / wireless, I still can't print unless I restart the printer.
This happens on 2 different laptops with 2 different p1102w printers.  Any clue as to what's going on here and how I can fix it?
    Edit:
If I have both wireless and nic enabled, once I undock the laptop, the ping -t changes from replying to the ip of the printer, to replying to the address of the wireless adapter with "Destination host unreachable".
    For example:
    IP of printer: 192.168.2.95
IP of wireless adapter on laptop: 192.168.2.25
    ping 192.168.5.95
    Reply from 192.168.2.95
    Reply from 192.168.2.95
    *undock"
Reply from 192.168.2.25 Destination Host Unreachable
Reply from 192.168.2.25 Destination Host Unreachable
This does not happen if I disabled the nic and run only off the wireless card.  So the workarounds are to either turn the printer off and back on if I undock every time, or disabled the nic.
At this point, I just want to understand why it is like this?

Mowaffaq, you may want to determine whether you are making those changes in the master printing preferences (versus the adjusting the session printing preferences from within your application).
Click "Start", click "Printers and Faxes" (or "Devices and Printers"), right-click your printer, and select "Printing Preferences". On the "Paper/Quality" tab, you should be able to specify A4 as your default paper for all future print jobs.
    Hope that helps.

  • HP Laserjet P1102W not connecting to wireless network

    Hi,
yesterday I tried to install my new Laserjet P1102W with wireless capabilities. The first setup went fine and I was able to print wireless from my pc. But when the printer went in sleep mode I had to redo the wireless setup to get it connected.
So I searched for a possible firmware update on the Ducth HP site, found the lastest firmware (20110826) and followed the instruction to upgrade it. But the upgrade took more than 20 minutes, and th lights on the printer didn't blink. So I pressed the power button again to wake it up, printed a selftest page and did see that the firmware was updated.
But then the problems started, the printer only gets a 169. ip address while I've setup the wireless correctly (tried manual and automatic setup) while I expect it to get a 192. address. And ofcourse I cannot print anymore via the wireless connection.
So I tried to find an older firmware to put back on the printer, but with no luck. Also tried to re-apply the latest firmware, but then I get the message that the printer is already up to date.
Is there a possiblility to force the firmware update to run again? Or can I get an older firmware from HP?
    Best regards
    Rob

I had the same problem, I was able to connect into my wireless network when I installed the printer (using the CD that came with it) and was able to print but when I turned off the printer and turned it back on  it won't connect to my computer
and my wireless network.  I did the same thing you did reinstall but get that 169 IP address.  Believe me I was on the phone with the Geek Squad tech for almost 2 hours and the problem was not solved so he told me to just keep the printer on so I don't lose connection.  Same thing with the 1st HP tech support who tried to help me.  He even changed something in my internet security but did not solve the problem at all.  The second HP tech support worked on it too and finally told me that it could be my router.  I have an old Linksys wireless G router so I decided to buy a new router and bought the Netgear N600 WNDR34000v2 and reinstall the printer and everything worked fine.  Also before you install the printer driver be sure to uninstall the printer program (go to Control Panel-Programs and Features) and also disable your firewall because it could also cause problems in the installation.  Now all my 5 computers in my network are using the printer and I can turn it on and off with no problems at all in printing.

  • HP Laserjet P1102w Linux driver cannot find wireless device in printer

When using the (ubuntu 12.04) HP Device Manager to configure the HP Laserjet P1102w Wifi, The device is recognized, but when I go to step three by clicking next, I get this message: “Unable to locate wireless hardware on device”. As a result, when clicking on OK, the only option, I get the following message: “Unable to turn on wireless adapter”. I follow the directions but this is always the result. I only have linux computers here and it is a bummer that I have to borrow someones Window’s computer to set it up. I really do not want to have to keep doing that..... Can anyone help? and thanks in advance.

Thank you Advance23 for the reply, I installed using that link already, the problem is that, the software is Unable to locate the wireless hardware on the printer. I have used 3 computers and same result. If, however, i use a windows computer to get the wireless device working on the printer, i have success.. I had to barrow that computer, and since then have changed service providers and have to activate the wireless device in the printer again. i do not have a windows computer to complete the task at hand.
that aside, all of the other items in the device manager work fine, and as long as i use a usb cable, i can print. I do not buy this printer for that reason, however, I wanted a wireless printer in my home. So there we are... kind of stuck right now. wishing the software would do what it claims to do.

  • HP Laserjet P1102W - Not found on Wireless network

I have a HP Laserjet P1102W.  The  printer is on my wireless network and I am able to use the printer successfully on one computer.  However I am tyring to set up the print on a new computer and it does not see the printer as an available printer...

Hello, sorry that you are experiencing this issue. Have you checked to make sure the new computer network is the same as the one the printer is connected to?
Check the static IP address and see if they are on the same network.

  • Trouble with getting the wireless to work with HP Laserjet P1102w printer

    Hi really struggling
I just bought the HP Laserjet P1102w as it was advised that it would run my apple products (Mac OS 10.6  Snow Leopard laptop and ipad).
I have mangaed to set up printer to work using the USB cable to the laptop. Success.
BUT i am finding it impossible to get it to work with wireless on any devices.
I get as far as network selection in set up and nothing is in the list (unlike USB which has the printer named) - so i click the 'create' button and input my network/SSID  code , which is a BTHub. I assume this is correct?  Or is it an address to be found elsewhere ?   I have downloaded driver and software (update HP Firmware utility)
which I believe to be correct from the HP.com website for the operating sytem of the mac.
I have also followed a number of videos but often the process does not follow the video sequences.
I have tried to speak to PC Word  'know how team' who sold me the printer but they had no knowledge at all to help this situation.   Any help would be much appreciated - this seems l ongoing problem for some other  users.

    Hi @bgriffiths60 ,
I understand that you are having issues setting up the printer over the wireless network. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
To check your network Encryption type, go to the Apple, System Preferences, Network, click the Advanced button/double click the network name. (shows WEP or WPA)
To check the network password follow these steps:
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, select Applications, Utilities, Keychain Access, double click the network name,
check the box to show the password, type in your Mac password to view it. (some networks have a shortcut password setup)
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. Sometimes the Embedded Web Server won't open in other browsers.
Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
Restore the printer defaults: Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IPv4 address are cleared.
HP LaserJet Pro P1102 and P1106/P1108 Printer Series - Printing a Configuration Page.
Go to the Apple, System Preferences, Print and Fax.
    Double click on the P1102w.
    Open the Utility.
    Click Printer Setup.
    Click HTML config.
This should open the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
    Click the Networking tab.
Click Wireless from the list on the left.
Under Communication Mode , click Infrastructure.
Select your network SSID from the Available Network Names (SSID) list and then click the << button so the network name moves over to other box.
From the Security Mode pop-up menu under Authentication , click WEP, WPA/WPA2 or open . Your selection depends on which Wireless Security Protocol your network uses.
Make sure you select either hexadecimal or alpha depending on your password. (very important)
    Apply the settings.
In the confirmation box (changes have been saved), click OK.
You should get a solid blue light on the printer shortly.
Then all we have to do is delete the USB driver and add the network driver.
    Click on the Apple.
    Click System Preferences.
Click the Print and Fax icon.
Highlight the printer and click on the - sign to delete the printer. (USB driver)
    Disconnect the USB cable.
Then click the + sign and select the printer from the list and click add. (P1102w Bonjour)
    Test the printer.
If you have any issues with the HTML config opening then do the following steps:
    Close any applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, Computer, MAC harddrive, Library, Printers, HP, LaserJet, click on folder for your printer, click on EWS browser or HTML config, click the Networking tab, click wireless on the left and fill out your information. (make sure infrastructure is selected) Apply settings.
Then delete the USB driver and add the network printer.
If there is anything else that I can help you with just let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • HP LaserJet P1102w & Mountain Lion Wireless

I just bought  a brand new HP LaserJet P1102w and cannot connect it via wireless to my Mac at all. I'm running Mac OS 10.8 with the latest software updates. I have already downloaded and installed the latest software and firmware directly from the HP site. I cannot seem to configure the printer to work on wireless, although the HP website says it's supported with Mac OS 10.8.
When I go to System Preferences > Print & Scan > Options and Supplies... > Utility > Open Printer Utility > HTML Config... in order to try and connect it to my wifi network (running on a brand new Airport Express), all I get is the following:
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 6 at column 48: Entity 'nbsp' not defined
error on line 12 at column 8: Opening and ending tag mismatch: link line 0 and head
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

How am I supposed to use this wireless printer wirelessly? Your website says it's supported but when I have all the updated software and firmware on my printer and my computer, it doesn't work. I'm extremely disappointed in HP at the moment and hope you can provide a viable solution.
Mac OS 10.7 has been out for over a year-and-a-half and Mac OS 10.8 has been out for nearly 3 months now. It's ridiculous and disprespectful to your cutomers to not have proper drivers and firmware available to ensure your prodcut works as you say it should.
I look forward to your solution.

    Hi,
I sorry to hear about the problem you are facing, I truly hope this situation will get resolved shortly.
Please follow the steps below in order to bypass this situation and conect the printer to your router using a temporary direct connection:
    Turn the printer Off.
Press and hold both the wireless and the cancel  button, and then turn the product on.
Hold the buttons until all the lights blink in unison, and then release the buttons.
From the Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon and select Join Other network.
Click Show network and select the printer's SSID, it should include HP, P1102, Laserjet, etc.
If you're not sure which network name belongs to the printer, print a network configuration page by holding the Cancel button, it will be listed on the right side within the network information.
Allow 4-5 minutes till the ad-hoc connection will be fully established
Open Safari and click the Bookmarks icon (), then select Bonjour.
Double click the printer name, the EWS page appears.
Click the Networking tab, and then click Wireless from the list on the left.
Under Communication Mode , click Infrastructure , select your network SSID from the Available Network Names (SSID) list, and then click the >> button.
From the Security Mode pop-up menu under Authentication , click WEP or WPA/WPA2 . Your selection depends on which Wireless Security Protocol your network uses.
Note: if you aren't sure what security type is used, click the Wi-Fi icon on your MAc and select Open  Network Preferences. Select Wi-Fi and click Advanced, within the Wi-Fi type you should see your router name with its security type listed right next to it.
If your network does not have Wireless Security, leave the Security Mode set to Open System (No Authentication).
Type your WEP/WPA/WPA2 key in the appropriate field, and then click Apply
In the confirmation box, click OK , and then close Safari.
From the Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon and select Join Other network.
Click Show network and select your home network again, now both of the devices connected to your home network .
Open Print & scan, click the Plus button and add the printer listed as AirPrint.

  • Help setting up a Laserjet P1102w for wireless printing on a Mac

    Hi Staxofjoy,
Based on the information you provided, and comparing to another post regarding this issue (link below) - It sounds like you are running 10.7 (Lion).
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/HP-Laserjet-P1102w-driver-for-Macbook-OS-X-Li...
Please go to the linked thread above, and look for the post by mikel1004 - he outlined the steps for connecting Adhoc to the printer very clearly.
Summary of what you will need to to:
    1. Reset Printer to Defaults
    2. Connect to printer via Adhoc from your Mac (This will disconnect you from your home wireless network)
    3. Access HTML Config, and configure the printer's wireless settings manually from there.
    4. Reconnect the Mac to the Home Network
    5. Add the printer to the print queue.
    Hope this helps
