Disabled and enable clips look the same
Is there a way to change the preferences so that disabled clips show up dark in my timeline? Because right now they are showing up bright regardless of whether they are disabled or enabled?
I know that's how it's supposed to work but for some reason mine isn't. It does show up that way on my laptop though.

Best way to work with interlaced and progressive clips in the same timeline
I´m shooting with Sony MC-50E camera in 1920x1080, 50i. When importing with Log & Transfer I can work with ProRes 422 files in interlaced mode. I have to mix the footage with video screencapture which is progressive (ProRes 422). The final videos are for web only so it should end up as progressive H264 videos. I´m getting good result if exporting to H264, 1024x576 with deinterlacing enabled, but exporting to full HD gives typical interlaced lines in the picture. How can I avoid this and what is the best solution for working with both interlaced and progressive clips?
Deinterlace in Compressor using Frame Controls, Best settings. You can reconnect the deinterlaced files to your project, if you've already edited, but you may need to copy and paste the clips in your sequence to a new 25p timeline, then Remove Attributes, Basic Motion.
When you're ready to export your sequence, use Quicktime Movie, Current Settings, Self-contained. Take that file to Compressor to transcode back to h.264.
The Apple T.V. preset is very good. -
Images in A2 and PS dont look the same!

I have a very strange problem with the latest aperture version. maybe i had it before and i never noticed. When i compare an image in A2.1.2. to the same exported image in PS(CS3). The PS Image looks slightly less red. I have tried everything possible. I reimported raw and tifs and jpgs. The same image in PS always looks a little different. Have used 16-bit, 8-bit export, always in Adobe RGB. In PS my preselected profile also is adobe RGB. What could be wrong? When i re-import the image into A2 the raw and the tif are absolut identical. Wheres the fault? PS Presets?

thomasHow are you getting the images into Photoshop? Are you using ACR to do so?
Note that ACR (and Adobe's Lightroom, in fact), have long been known for poor rendering of reds on Canon cameras. They tend to render read more as orange. If you read Adobe's forums on ACR or Lightroom, you can see this is one of the more common complaints. They are making steps to address this with their profiles, but in general, IMO Aperture does a much better job of getting accurate reds.
So if you are opening a Canon RAW file in Aperture versus Photoshop by way of Adobe Camera RAW, then that is your answer. If, on the other hand, you are starting with Aperture and using the "Edit in Photoshop..." item and seeing a color shift, then there's something else afoot. Which is it? -
firefox plays video, but no sound. when I type about:plugins in location bar, it shows the firefox default plugin is not enabled. When I look at my plugins, it says it is enabled. I have uninstalled 3.6 and re-installed with the same result. Why do I have no sound. Computer plays I-tunes and all other sounds, just no web browser sounds.
Glad you seem to have sorted things out.
The warning about the warranty is light hearted, I think at one stage it warned "here be dragons" but also intended to make us think as it warns that making changes may produce problems. -
When I move high quality clips into my timeline in Final Cut Express HD, they look and export low quality. I have tried converting the clips and de-interlacing them, but they always look the same, What is the problem? Thanks so much.
You should check that the Project settings match the clip settings before editing them to the Timeline.
Only newly created Projects will change not existing ones by adjusting the Project settings.
If, for example, you have a Project set to NTSC DV you can only end up in trouble if the clips are PAL 1920 x 1080i.

Once I've created a playlist on my imac and try to send it to my iPhone a message says that the tunes cant be sent because Imatch is enabled on my phone. I definitely turned Imatch off and it still says the same. Can anyone help me?
You must also disable iTunes Match on the iPhone.

We have an older IMac (preIcloud) and just purchased a new Macbook Air. Our Iphones are set-up to synch with the IMAC and my calendars on the IMac & the phone look the same. But when I open ICal on the MacBook Air my calendar is missing items? Help.
Are you wanting to import iCal to the MacBook Air. Since iCloud doesn't work with 10.6 OSX you probably don't have any data in iCloud yet?

I assumed that if I used the project style sheet during the export, Word would convert the style so that it looked the same as in the HTML. Is that a bad assumption? I'm currently not mapping to any template equivalent for these message box styles. I did try it as one of my attempts, but I couldn't figure it out. It never seemed to take the style in the .dot.
Anyway, if I use just 1 style, such as just the MsgBox, I obviously don't get the white paragraph between the title and message. That white paragraph comes from the first <p> tag in the MsgBox style. But I need to have the <p> tags in there because they're better for our localization process than line breaks.
I did do some tweaks that made it look better. Basically I structured it so that the MsgBoxTitle div is now inside the MsgBox div. Something like this:

how can I copy an audio effect from a clip and paste it to another clip in the same timiline...With FCPro 7 it was all so fast........

Here's a little gotcha. Let's say you've color corrected a few clips and you've applied an effect to one and want to paste it the other clips. You switch off color correction and copy the clip. You select the other clips and paste effects. What do you think happens? The effect is applied, but the color correction is applied as well, only it's switched off as it was in the first clip, so all the color correction on the other clips is lost. Fun, eh?

I made a movie in iMovie then deleted the clips in it. I have reimported the clips in an event with the same name as previously and some clips in the movie are still saying source slip missing even though they are there. Some clips are fine in the movie, but most are just black and when I hover over them, it says source clip missing. How to I fix this? Thank You
I did that too, then I did a migration assistant to a new Mac and ALL of my movies have Source Clip Missing now, even though the original clips are still in the iPhoto Videos. I can stand to re edit one or two projects, but not ALL.

Why do vector lines appear different in my Photoshop document compared to the PDF that was created using "Scripts > Layer Comps to PDF"? And how do I get them to look the same?
