Disabled future attempts to bind to [127.0.0.1] LDAP server

Hi,
Sometimes when a VPN client disconnect whatever he uses L2TP or PPTP under Mac or Windows, my server hangs up, the only solution is a hard reboot. Here is my system.log

Mar 26 18:39:23 mail DirectoryService[41]: Search connection failure: Disabled future attempts to bind to [127.0.0.1] LDAP server for next 0 seconds.
Any help appreciated.

Hi Pierre
Did you find a sollution to this problem? I have the same problem and tried everything that I can think of except for a complete reinstall. All services (AFP, DHCP, DNS, FTP, Web, Windows) works perfectly except for VPN.
I have demoted from ODM to Standalone and back again restoring users from backup. I tried without restoring users just creating one single user to log in via VPN and it is just the same. I even tried unchecking "Enable directory binding" in Open Directory setup, just to see if that would help - but it didn't.
Best Regards,
Jesper

  • What are solutions to the "Unexpected error while attempting to bind.  Operation cancelled." message when trying to bind

    What are solutions to the "Unexpected error while attempting to bind.  Operation cancelled." message when trying to bind and i alreeady cheack my DNS settings and everything

    Has this worked before, or is this a new configuration?
    On the server, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and post the output of the following harmless diagnostic command — and you'll need to enter an administrative password when requested:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
    On the OS X (presumably) Mavericks client, please post the IP address(es) of the DNS server(s) you're referencing.  These are available via the System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS settings.
    To check the console logs, launch Console.app from Applications > Utilities on both the client and the server, and then attempt the binding, and then post a (short! no more than ~25 to 50 lines!) of any errors related to the binding error.
    If you're not in a position to post configuration details here — which is perfectly reasonable, and entirely your prerogative — or if I'm getting too confusing or too technical with some of the questions here, which would be my error of course — then (assuming these systems are under warranty) I'd suggest contacting the folks at the local Apple Store and having a chat with the local Geniuses about this, or checking directly with the Apple Support folks via telephone.

  • Rc.local script to bind and add ldap server

    Greetings All,
    For the past few years, I've used the script below to bind and add authentication servers to my client machines. The process is simple enough, copy the rc.local script (ref'd below) to /etc/ as root and reboot the client. The problem now, is I don't know if this will work in 10.6. As I read this script, I realized there have been enough changes in location of files and file names between 10.5 and 10.6 that this script isn't going to work.
    My question to you guys is this: Is anyone else taking care of their binding/auth services in a similar manner? If so, would you mind sharing the script you're using?
    Thanks,

    The first thing I would verify is if you can connect and traverse your Active Directory/Domain Controller using Softerra's free ldap browser.
    1. Softerra ldap browser link
    http://download.softerra.com/files/ldapbrowser26.msi
    Put in the IP/hostname of the domain controller, use the same BASE DN, and user credentials that you used on the IronPort appliance.
    I would highly recommend that you create a separate account for the IronPort. (i.e. ironportldap). Do this so that you don't have to worry about accidentially resetting the password and then forgetting to update the IronPort appliance.
    2. Once you've verified that you can connect and see your tree, use the same settings from Softerra ldap browser and put them in the IronPort ldap interface.
    Try this for your Accept query string
    (|(mail={a})(proxyAddresses=smtp:{a}))
    3. If it still fails, enable the ldap debug log if you haven't already and paste in the error.
    We are trying to add an LDAP Server Profile but everytime we try to test the Accept Query we get an
    "Error - Error: configuration error" message.
    We are using AD, top of the tree for base DN. dc=domain, dc=local.
    We tried communicating with 2 different servers via telnet on ports 389, 3268, both are open.
    Tried port 389 and 3268, no SSL, Anynomous and User Password authentication methods.
    The error left us clueless since we followed the instructions on the user manual.
    For the accept query we tried this query string: (proxyAddresses=smtp:{a})
    Any ideas or pointers to what could be causing this are very appriciated.
    Thanks.
    Ed.

  • Cannot bind 10.6 client to 10.7 server

    Hi.
    I have a mac mini with lion on it, and am trying to set up mobile user accounts.
    Trying to bind a 10.6 mac book pro to the server, I go into open dir utility, LDAPv3, edit, click on the server, edit, bind
    and I get the error msg: Unexpected Error while binding. Unexpected error while attempting to bind. Operation cancelled.
    I am sure I have all the admin info correct. This error occurs on a new computer that has never been bound to the computer before.
    Previously I have been able to bind computers to the server (although that was when I was on my own personal network, not at the clients....)
    Please help I'm stuck! I have googled extensivley and nothing has come up.
    Thanks in advance, rhys

  • Need Help Binding Windows Xp clients to 10.5 server for a beginner

    Hi
    I've setup 10.5 server as a standard config. Which turns out it is a Open Directory Master and SMB role is Standalone Server.
    I have been able to bind my 10.4 clients to the server domian using Directory Access and choosing automatic under LDAPv3/config.
    So far the Macs are working well.
    But I need to get the PC XP workstations on board. Where in XP do I have to go to enter in the info for the server to bind the clients to it? All this is new to me and still learning. The server is pretty basic. Authenticating users and giving them access to the shares.
    Thanks

    Hi Dave
    Thanks for the tips. I was wondering if you could help me out some more? I have never done any binding on the PC. Macs seem quite easy. I'm having trouble taking the info I have on the Mac and applying it to the correct input on the PC's. Bare with me. I think I am almost there.
    I did not have the diradmim account set up. But I do now.
    Now I have gotten to my computer/properties/system properties/Computer name
    I clicked on the Change button near bottom right
    Now I am at this new window.

  • LDAP Bind Failure: Can't contact LDAP server in Presentation Server

    I have configured LDAP configuration in the RPD and am able to connect to the LDAP from the BI server. Its returning the information i need when i test through the admin tool. But when i try to log in from the PS using the same network id and password, it gives me the below error:
    State: 08004. Code: 10018. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: 08004] [nQSError: 10018] Access for the requested connection is refused. [53003] LDAP bind failure: Can't contact LDAP server. (08004).
    I know for sure, the network connectivity is working as i get my results back from the BI Server. Please advise, if i need to change other configurations on the Presentation end. As my network folks have run out of ideas. Thx!

    Can you go to the server, open a CMD windows and do "ping nsldap.companyname.com" and see if it works. If it works it could be that the LDAP port is blocked by a firewall or OBIEE is not able to make a connection. Make sure you are using the correct port as well. Install an LDAP client in your OBIEE Server and test that you can connect to your LDAP server from your OBIEE Server, not from the RPD. You can use this:

  • Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion Client that bind to replica OD 10.7.2 Server refuse to failover to look at Master 10.7.2 OD Server.

    Hi All,
    I got a tricky situation here.
    My Setup
    Mac OS X  Master OD 10.7.2 Server
    Mac OS X Replica OD 10.7.2 Server
    Clients are bind to the replica Mac OS X  server( 10.7.2) for MCX management and Bind to AD for Authentication.
    The tricky part comes,
    When I shut down the replica Mac OS X server (10.7.2) to test whether the Mac Client (10.7.2) will failover and point it to the Master OD (10.7.2 ) Server.  It refuse to failover.
    Like wise , I get the Mac Client (10.7.2) to bind to the master OD Server  , and I shut down the Master OD server  and test whether the Mac Client will failover and point it to the replica OD server for MCX. It refuse to failover and have the famous red light.
    But If I do Manual Binding (work like a charm)
    I will go into Directory Utility and manually  bind OD and AD , it work like a charm.
    The Client will automatically do failover and point it to the replica or Master , depend on which OpenDirectory it bind to .
    Single Command of authenticated binding  and using a binding script still produce the same result
    dsconfigldap -f -a "${ODM_SERVER}" -c "${COMPUTER_ID}" -u "${ADMIN_LOGIN}" -p "${ADMIN_PWD}"
    My binding script (took from DeployStudio Bind OD script  )

    I am at a lost. Any suggestion will be good.
    Thanks

  • Disable future dates in mx:DateField

    I'm using DateField for the birth input. How to not allow users to select a future date, the dates after today, in the DateField?

    I had the need to disabled ranges beyond the current date.
    Here is how I solutioned it:
                                    <mx:DateField id="dfStartDate"
                                        name="Start Date"
                                        styleName="dateField"
                                        disabledRanges="{[getNextDayDate(),{rangeStart: getNextDayDate()}]}" />
                                    <mx:DateField id="dfEndDate"
                                        name="End Date"
                                        styleName="dateField"
                                        disabledRanges="{[getNextDayDate(),{rangeStart: getNextDayDate()}]}" />
                private function getTomorrowDate():Date {
                    var myDate:Date = new Date()
                    myDate.date += 1; //increment date to tomorrow, so we can disable it in the picker controls
                    return myDate;

  • Calender control disable future dates

    Hi Experts
    I am creating form using acrobat pro 9 i used date and time field. The date picker works fine. What is my requirement is I want to disable the futuer date the date picker allows user to select up current date? should not be select the date more than current.
    this can be possible?
    Thanks in advance
    regards

    You can not disable the feature to select the future date but you can always validate the date after selecting.
    If it is a future date force the user to change it.
    Thanks

  • How do I disable future iOS updates till later date to prevent problems with non iOS compliant Apps?

    Hello first time post here so excuse me if my posting etiquette is off and this seems lengthy.
    I am a beginning tech (4 months) in a school district that has started the 1 to 1 initiative with iPads (iPad 2).
    There is a huge learning curve I am facing as I don't know hardly anything about the new piece of software - apple Configurator. (A side note I was issued my very first iPad in the same time working for the district. BTW liking the iPad a lot).
    I am looking for friendly beginning user info on how to operate the Apple Configurator - suggestions? At this time I have only served in an observer capacity as it assigned to someone else in the district to do. However I know this person would appreciate another mind to help out  around the problem so I need to get up to speed.
    This a story of bumps and scrapes and bruises on the 1-1 initiative in the district and its 4 major hiccups have occurred (that I observed).
    I am hoping others have discovered these problems and figured out a way to handle them or avoid them and would be willing to share what you did.
    Here goes...
    The district started the 1-1 initiative roughly 3 years ago. They had a person in the middle school (way before me) in charge of the iPads. They used the IPhone Configurator device to manage the iPads. My understanding was this was very slow. That person was finally able to retire and took their knowledge they had of the iPhone Configurator utility that they used with them.The district chose to start using the Apple Configurator software this year for iPad management.
    We have a brand new person that has been put in charge of this. The person did not know the software either (nor did anyone else in the district).This person has made great strides to learn the software. However there has been some issues along the way:
            1. The school where the iPad 1-1 initiative is a middle school. The students are assigned the same iPad for all three years. As 6th graders come in they are issued an iPad. As the 8th grade finishes up, they head on to high school and the iPads gets recycled to the next 6th graders walking in the door. Each grade level has there own set of apps, so the (finished) 8th graders iPads get reset for the next 6th graders walking in.
    The issue is (my understanding) is that the volume purchase apps did not always revert back to the Apple Configurator/App store spread sheets before the iPads were reset. It took an act of congress with Apple to refund these apps because they were lost. Mind you we have 400 iPads in just this school alone so you can see why it was important to get these Volume Purchase Apps refunded to put on the new 6th graders iPads. $$$
             2. When the iPads were given to the students, the Apps would not work and all they would do is shake for a second. The iPads were recollected and redone. Time away from the students and classes.
            3. The iPads were refinished (with all the apps reinstalled) and given to the students. Then the students were given instructions in class how to manually setup their exchange email accounts on their iPads. Turns out the restrictions on the iPads (from the apple Configurator) were set up so the email info they put in could not verify with the exchange server. They wouldn't send or receive. So the iPads were all recalled back (time away from students and their classes again) and redone with the restrictions/ apps reinstalled.
            4. Most recent problem... iOS6 came out and all of a sudden we find out that two of our biggest 3rd party Apps were having problems with it. So it made the Apps at that point worthless. (These are paid for - expensive, most used by the school Apps).  Well there was no way to prevent the students from updating to IOS6 on their own (mind you they can't get to the App Store) but they can do the iOS6 update whenever they want. Before the problem was discovered, students were prompted by their iPads and they started doing the iOS6 update. I discovered this and immediately had the secretary send out emails to everyone do not download this thing because it was making problems for existing installed Apps. Of course there are were a few more students that were like "this don't apply to me right?" and they downloaded it anyways.
    So after 3 weeks of these apps not working, App update/releases were finally given and they are working again. So far we have only fixed some of iOS6 kids that are in need of those two broken apps.
    Now we are at a crossroad with the other 95 installed apps to consider ... if we let the students update to iOS6 to fix the two broken apps will it interfere with the other 93 apps that are working under iOS5.1...
    This iOS update thing would be better considered in the summer time for us (for future iOS updates).
    So I need to know is there away to prevent this in the future? Is there away to hold off the iOS updates till summer? I've seen people say control it by blocking it through the network but it doesn't prevent them from doing this at home. Where in the apple Configurator can we control this?
    Thanks for reading.

    You will not be able to block IOS 6.  You can try blocking it with a webfilter or firewall but if the students take these home or connect to another network or iTunes they can get it that way.   You will find that the vast majority of all apps will work with 6 or have been updated to work with it by now.

  • How to disable design time data binding?

    I am using Studio Creator IDE for the presentation layer and bringing the project into eclipse and from there moving on to creating daos,adding business objects etc.
    However, when re-importing my files from eclipse to the Studio Creator to make layout changes, on the design view, i keep getting all these SQL exceptions.
    Here's my current fix:
    For eg, if on a page i had a Data Table component, i comment out my dao methods that populate the cachedrowset for the table data provider and i add for eg:
    personRowSet.setDataSourceName("java:comp/env/jdbc/Travel");
    personRowSet.setCommand("SELECT * FROM TRAVEL.PERSON");
    personRowSet.setTableName("PERSON");
    and only then, i am able to see my table component in the design view.
    Is there an option somewhere to tell the IDE not to check data bindings at design time???
    That would be very very helpful.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    There is no option, ASAIK, to turn off the data bindings at design time. As you have mentioned the option that comes to my mind is to comment out the code for data binding till the design work is over.
    Cheers

    You may also be able to double tap the screen with three fingers to reset the zoom to normal.  I'm not sure if that is still a feature but on my 3GS it works. Try connecting your phone to iTunes for the lockout.
