Disabled Iphone and IOS 8
I have forgotten my passcode on my iphone 5s, I recently activated the fingerprint identity for security. My phone is now disabled due to too many incorrect tries. How can I access my photos, contacts, and information from my phone? I've tried itunes but it says it isn't able to since my phone is disabled. What should I do now? It hasnt been backed up to ITunes since the upgrade and is asking me to allow computer access, but I cant because my phone is disabled. HELP!!!

Since updating to 10.6, Powerbook disables iphone and won't sync
Just as I wrote in the headline, since updating my OS, when I plug in my iphone to sync music purchases and playlists, I get the error;
"Because a USB device was drawing too much power, one or more of your USB devices have been disables."
Here's the rub, the only device connected was the iphone. The laptop was even plugged in at the time. Restarting both devices didn't yield a different result.
Little help?Just to add to the mystery, I plugged the iphone into my old G5 running 10.5.8 and got the same message. Does this mean my iphone is malfuntioning? It's an older G3 iphone...maybe it's gone senile. My last successful sync/update was about two weeks ago.

How to fix a disabled iPhone 5 with broken home button?
I've beeing searching for two days online for trying to fix this problem. I have a disabled iPhone 5 (iOS 7) with a broken Power Button, I want to restore it to its factory defaults but it isn't working.
1) I can't put the iPhone into recovery mode since the power button is broken.
2) Once I plug that iPhone on my MacBook, iTunes asks for trust confirmation from my side althgouh the iPhone is disabled and I can't access it to trust that computer.
3) I tried to multiple solutions but they didn't didn't work; I even tried to reset my iPhone using "Accessibility Options" but it didn't work.
What can I do?Free phone support is 90 days. Yes they will charge you to call. No, they will NOT charge you to take it to the genius bar. If it's within 1 year, they will replace it if it's covered.
There are no magic words that will get you past the fact that it's physically broken. Make an appointment and make the trip to the genius bar. -
Iphone 4s - ios 8.1 Update, No sound

I have just updated my iphone 4s from 7.1 to 8.2 (not a stepped migration I know, more of a big bang update!) I did this thinking 8.1 was stable and that stories I had heard of 8.0 problems would have been ironed out. They haven't.
I am a seasoned iPhone and IOS user having had all the models of phone upto the 4s, however now I am very unhappy that I have to consider rolling back my IOS version to be able to continue using my phone effectively.
The problem is that the sound no longer works at all for Youtube, music app, videos =, basically any applications that require watching moving images,.. the slider just simply does not appear on the screen to be able to adjust!.
The sound buttons also do no longer work (apart from within Setting>sounds, where the buttons work intermittently once you have manually adjusted the 'ringer and alerts' slider)
Doing some diagnostics, the mute switch on the side and the buttons both start working, when being manually adjusted in Setting>sounds, though the minute I step outside of Setting>sounds all buttons and the switch stop working completely ??
Glitch, I think so... What step of your your Sprint are you on for 8.2 and when can we expect the next iteration?

just after i merged and cleaned my contacts, one contact does not appear in my caller id and messages even the contact is in my phonebook. I already tried disabling my yahoo and google accounts connected to my iphone 4 ios 7.1. stiill no luck
Within Contacts, tap Groups at top left. Make sure all contact groups are checked to show, then tap "Done" at top right.

Have a new iPhone bought in late July 2013. It had zero heating issues and battery issues until the past week (Nov. 2013). Now, the iPhone gets hot to the touch and the battery drains within 2 to 3 hours, EVEN AFTER I HAVE DISABLED ALMOST EVERY FEATURE OF THE iPHONE.
This iPhone has iOS 7.0.4, installed within last 36 hours. I then erased the entire iPhone and restarted it as a New iPhone. Then I went in and turned off everything in the way of Settings that permit disabling. All notifications, spotlight searches, application updating, accessibility features, push features, location services, etc. were turned off or disabled. Brightness is set to Auto. Don't use the iCloud.
After doing all of that, which essentially rendered this iPhone just a clunky old cell phone, not even using WiFi, I connected to iTunes on my computer and restored my backed up apps, photos.
After the Restore, I went back into settings and made certain that, again, all notifications, app services, location services, updatings, etc. were disabled, still.
The problem persists.
It seems the only solution is to get rid of all my Apps and never use WiFi, or iCloud, or Mail. That is unacceptable.
Does anyone have a solution, besides my calling on the warranty on this phone?Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement. -

I need to restore the information from disabled iPhone 4 because it went out of battery. I do know the passcode, but the phone is not showing the numbers to dial it. What is important for me is the data and not the phone. Below is the details of the phone:
1. Phone info:
iPhone 4
iOS version: not sure
Passcode: Known to me
2. Objective: To restore the data from the phone (Contacts, messages, files, ...etc)
3. Current Status:
i. Phone screen Content:
"iPhone is disabled"

ii. Connect to iTunes status
- receive this message:" iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "xxxxxx's iPhone" because it is locked with a passcode. you must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".

4. Reason for the issue:
i.I left the phone without SIM in a safe for a while. it has daily alarm. it seams that the battery drained completely and when I charged I got this status.
ii. I normally don't connect (sync) my mobile to computer. I may have couple of sync but they are outdated in one hand and in the other hand I really need the information after I took them. Further, the machine is formatted where I kept the sync. So practically they are not existing.It's not possible to selectively restore parts of the backup - it's all or none. If you had been syncing your contacts, calendar and notes to iCloud or an app on your computer, just sync them back - it's automatic with iCloud if you set this in settings.
Your in-app history and data was contained in the backup you aren't using. There's no way to retrieve them without restoring the entire backup. For all you know, the problem causing the overheating was corrupted app data that you don't want back in the phone. -
iphone4s built-in email is frustrating because it does not allow for replies to incoming mail; deletions and archiving, composing new mail, et al., as gmail does.. is it possible to disable or eliminate iphone email app and sub for gmail app, which i use regulary, just as i do on my laptop?
if not, what alternative solutions exist?
thanks very much.,In the native iOS app, if you set the default behavior to send a deleted message to Trash, you can still Archive it by moving it to "All Mail" in the same way you can move a message to any other folder.
As for the GMail app, I don't see a need for it but I suppose it depends on what you want. You can have multiple GMail accounts set up on your device with the iOS Mail app, but if you want a quick way to switch between accounts you can use the GMail app for a particular account and iOS Mail for another. Beyond that I don't see any advantage to the GMail app, other than maybe a priority Inbox. The iOS Mail app can do push notifications for GMail if you set it up as an Exchange account (see below), so they're equivalent in that regard.
Since you're a GMail user, you might want to delete your GMail account in iOS settings and re-create it as an Exchange account. That way you get push notifications, and your GMail contacts automatically remain synced between GMail and your device (over the air, no need to re-sync to iTunes). One caveat though: When you set GMail up as an Exchange account, the default behavior of deleting a message is Archive (even though the button will say Delete). To change this default, the only way is to use your iPhone's Safari to navigate to m.google.com/sync after you set up your Exchange account on your iPhone. There you can change the behavior to actually delete a message when you tap Delete. Other than that little task (a one-time thing) you'll be set. -
I am unable to backup my iphone 5 iOS 6.0.1 (connected directly to laptop USB) with my itunes 11 for Win 7 64bits. The process starts and fails to complete giving the error: itunes could not complete backup of iphone because iphone disconnected.
I have restarted the PC, the iphone, changed the lightining cable and nothign resolves it: backup never completes.Hi, I disabled the antivirus and the firewall. Same result
I even deleted the backup folder inside C:\Users\...\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to eliminate any corruption in the old backup files.
Nothing changed: Session either times out or i get the same error message: itunes could not back up iphone because iphone disconnected. It always happens during step 3 out of 4 which is "transfering purchased apps from iphone to PC" and comes after step 2 which is backup.
My iphone 5 is not jailbroken, and is a factory unlocked phone.
Any other suggestion?

I have problems syncing my new iPhone 5 to iTunes. I read somewhere to disable iPhotos and that has allowed me to sync but my photos are not on my iPhone. How can I fix this?
Try updating to iPhoto 9.4.1. If it's not appearing in your Software Update yet, try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the following page on the Apple website:

IPad 2 and iPhone running IOS 5.0.1 has wonky wireless
Both my iPad 2 and iPhone 3gs will not allow me to do normal browsing uisng wireless networking at home. I get an IP address via DHCP. I can browse my devices (swithes and router, printer) usng IP addresses. I can get to Google's web page using it's IP address(74.125.224.114). And I have no problems at the office. But, if I attept to open the iTunes, the App Store app, or Safari and browse a site by it's host name (www.google.com), I get a message that says I can't connect becuse I'm not connected to the Internet (if that is true then why can I get Google's home page via IP address???)
Now, at first this seemed to be an issue with my home network. Except, that both my wife's iPhone(a 3gs) and my daughter's iPhone (a 4) have NO problems. Nether do any of our PC's or latops. My iPhone USED to work just fine on our Home network.
The only thing I did was upgrade my IOS on my iPhone from 5.0 to 5.0.1. My iPad 2 came with IOS 5.0.1. Both my wife's and daughter's devices are running IOS 5.0. Our Laptops and PC's have no problems at all. The problems are with both my devices that are running IOS 5.0.1
So, there seems to be something in IOS 5.0.1 which does NOT agree with my home wireless network (again I have no problems with my work's Wireless network).
My network configuration.
One wireless router is a NetGear WGR614v4 (downstairs) and the other is a NetGear WPN824N (upstairs) connected to a Linksys SRW224 switch connecting to a Linksys E1000 router(wireless disabled) for internet access. All these devices are on the same subnet and I can ping each one.
Does this seem like an IOS 5.0.1 issue or is there something in my network I could try tweeking to get my IOS 5.0.1 devices to work and still allow my other devices to work???So, my DNS is comming from my ISP. It's the same list of IP addresses for all our other devices that are working: 2 PC's 2 Laptops, a PS3 and a WII, an iPhone 3gs running IOS 5.0 and an iPhone 4 running IOS 5.0.
The ONLY two devices that are having issues are my iPhone 3gs running IOS 5.0.1 and my iPad 2 running IOS 5.0.1.
Soooooo, there is something incompatible with my ISP's DNS and IOS 5.0.1?
