Disabling Autorun so I can burn from ITunes.

When I put a blank CD in my drive it automatically puts an "autorun" file on it. When I try to burn from ITunes it either says the drive is in use by another application or it says the cd is not blank. It has something to do with Roxio since the tab of the file often says Roxio. I have uninstalled Roxio from my computer, I have deleted all files with the word Roxio or autorun in its name and it doesn't solve the problem. I also have made ITunes my default media player. So what should I do now?

I am not sure about this, and I don't want to worry you, but there is an autorun worm that spreads via autoruns on removable media.
I think up to date security software should detect and remove it, so is your security software up to date?
It might be worth running a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Something else you could do is to open one of these autorun files with notepad and have a look. I don't know what the autorun puts in the file, but you might see something that looks odd.
You could also look to see if the CD contains any hidden files.
There is a Microsoft article on disabling autorun, but that stops it being executed rather than stopping the file being created.

  • Burning from iTunes 6

I have a 4th gen iPod, but using iTunes 6 with XP because my mom has the iPod video. How can I burn from iTunes? I can't seem to select the "Burn to Playlist to Disc" button. Oh, and if the song was deleted from the hard drive but still in the iTunes library, could it still be burned? Kindly advise. Thanks.

Restore your phone using the last backup that you made. That should put everything back the way it was.

  • Drive will not burn from itunes keep getting error...

Hi. When i try to burn from itunes i keep getting error " Attempt to burn to disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
I have looked this up and seems to be a problem for a lot of people yet apple seem to be ignoring it from what i have read. I have reset ram it worked once but never since even after resetting it again. So any ideas. Checked for updates noting. This is realy annoying now and i am losing faith in something i like. So apple get of your arse and sort this problem out.
    Cheers

    Hi martin wells1!
Rather than blaming Apple engineers, have you contacted support to arrange service on the machine? Hardware problems, traditionally, don't fix themselves. But that's where technicians come into play as a means to resolve those hardware problems.
If you get a "check engine light" in your vehicle, do you just drive around and wait for it to be fixed saying: "Man, I wish <insert car manufacturer> would fix my check engine light problem tonight."
I've encountered a similar error message on one (of many) MacBooks that I've come across recently, a service call later and a replacement optical drive... problem resolved.

Just want to avoild spending hours migrating everything across....

Yes, I can read but just can't write DVD's. I get:
This disc can’t be verified and might be unreliable. Try again using a new blank disc (error code 0x80020063).
Originally I thought it was the old Moutain Lion DVD drive issue (but have had the drive recently replaced by Apple), so I tried creating a new account, which worked.
In the old account I have reset SMU, Pram... but no change.

  • Burning from iTunes

I'm new and confused. I recently bought an album from iTunes. I decided to burn to a cd to play in my car but it is evidently 'protected'. How can I burn to a cd to be able to play in my car?

Under the burn options [Edit | Preferences... | Advanced | Burning], make sure the burn type is set to Audio CD and not to MP3 CD (won't work with iTMS songs) or Data CD (tracks are still protected). Then burn as you would any other playlist: create the list of songs, check the songs you want burned, then insert a blank disc and hit Burn CD.

  • Cannot burn from itune to cd

Burned playlist title shows up on left menu with a cd icon but playback results in sound coming in and out, like bad signal on radio station, also verrry slow then freezes, reinserted cd, got 'blank cd' message and cd icon showing cd title does not appear. Tried playing cd in car, got 'err' message and eject. This is new problem, as I have routinely burned purchased/non-purchased playlists using cdrw's. Successfully downloaded itunes version 6, deleted play list, recreated it, still same problem. Afraid to plug in ipod, don't want to corrupt if problem is with cpu.

They are protected, there are copyright issues, you can burn a copy to save in case something happens to your computer, but you can not burn a DVD to say play on your tv, or even a cd copy to play on your tv. To back them up, go under backup under file and it will ask you if you want to back up your purchased movies, songs, tv, etc. I also would love to burn them and play them to my tv, but a get around is to use the apple cables and then play them from your ipod video.

  • CDs burned from iTunes don't play in CD player.

This is a relatively new issue - I've never had this problem before. They appear to burn correctly. Sometimes the CD player will correctly identify the number of tracks but when I hit play the CDs just spin around without playing. Other times it the CD player will not recognize the CD at all. I thought it was the CD player but older CDs play fine. And it's not the CDs; I've tried two different brands. I think the problem is in the "initializing" phase which used to last for perhaps ten seconds and now lasts for perhaps two seconds before burning starts. Anybody else ever have this issue?

  • HELP ME I can'tdownload from itunes for + 20min. Network Connection times

I need help. I still have stinking dial up. It takes a long time to download a T.V. show from Itunes. Suddenly I can't download something for more than 20min(about) from itunes. If i'm not using the computer the network connection will run out. It always gives different number errors why the network connectiion timed out. I have changed all my preferences and they all don't let the computer sleep, disconnect from the internet and so on.. It still stops downloading though. Any help would be helpful!!
    I have tiger.

That's why iTunes requires a broadband connection now for buying and streaming music etc.

  • Can no longer download itunes music. Says all content will be lost. No longer on original computer. Is there any way I can download from itunes without losing content.

I can no longer download from itunes on ipod. It is not original computer and new computer message from itunes is I will lose all content on ipod if I continue to download. Is there anyway around this? Also have not updated ipod, is that important.
    Arlene

You can transfer you iTunes purchases to your new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. You can manage music amond different computers by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
If you wnat to make the new computer your syncing computer you must restore the iPod.
    - See if you can make a backup of the iPod on the new computer by right clicking on the iPod in iTunes and select backup.  If successsful, restore the iPod from that backup after tansfering your iTunes purchases to the new computer.
    - If you can't make a backup copy/move the backup file from the old computer, That file is located:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You may have to turn off hide hidden files.
If you do not have the backup file you have to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and sync your stuff to the iPod.  You will loss all your app data.
