Disabling Console or set it to only work on a different port.
Is there a way to disable the console or have it only work on a different port
in WLS 6.1?
The only way I've figured out to disable it is to remove the whole console application
from the system.
Yeshwant <[email protected]> wrote in message news:<[email protected]>...
The console is simply a webapplication and as such there is no way to have it work on
another port. It will run on the same port the appserver is running on .
If you don't need it just remove it .

Just a wild guess.
I have not try this but it looks very promising. Did you try to expand
the console.war file and then modify the weblogic.xml to remove
"system" from it and put in your own user, and then update the war and
jar back. In this way, only your special user can access it.

I have CS6 and CC installed on my mac when I'm using CS6 and use bridge CC activates how can I set this to only work on one and not the other
If you want Bridge CS6 to open when using Photoshop CS6, you must quit Bridge CC.
Then File menu > Browse in Bridge will bring up Bridge CS6.
If Bridge CC is already open, The File > Browse in Bridge for Photoshop CS6 will use Bridge CC and Bridge CS6 will not open.
I hope that's the answer you were looking for.

HT201320 Setting up mail only works the first time and then fails...
Hello,
I own a new iPad 4.
Setting up my own mail accounts works great for the first time (I see new mails and I can sent mails), but the second time I open the Mail-App it complains about my mail settings.
Mails are provided from my own domain. Using other mail clients I don't have issues.
Setting is based on IMAP ssl/port 993 and ssl/578. iPad runs on IOS6.1.
Do you have an idea why?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

External keyboard only works after reboot with Port Replicator III Plus
The problem is that when I boot the notebook, the external PS/2 keyboard doesn't work. When I reboot the keyboard flips on and then I can use it.
This problem occurs on a Toshiba Tecra notebook with a Advanced Port Replicator III Plus. I've used several keyboards, so that isn't the problem. I've changed a value in the bios which is used for USB devices (mouse/keyboard). I disabled the option, because I use a PS/2 mouse and keyboard, but the problem isn't solved. I hope someone has an answer to this problem.Hello
I presume that there is something wrong with docking procedure and touchpad. Try to disable the Touchpad while the Notebook is docked.
Try also to install mobile extensions again. -
USB 3.0 External HDD only works on 1 USB port, rMBP 13
Hello all,
Last night I had a scare thinking that my WD MyPassport was corrupt because only one of my 3 partitions were showing up. I went into Disk Utility and attempted to mount the disk, only to get a message that I must repair it. I then realized that I plugged it into the right side of the computer, which is opposite of which I usually do. I removed the hard drive and switched ports, only to see that all three partitions magically appeared. Is there a reason this happened? Is there something wrong with my computer, or is this user error? I've never experienced this before.Off the top of my head there could be two reasons for this. One is that the USB port is malfunctioning. The other is there is a chance the HD is pulling more power then the USB port can supply. One USB port will tend to be slightly higher power than the other. Is the HD powered by the computer or an external power supply? Was there anything plugged into the other USB port that may have been drawing power? It is best to not rely on USB bus power to power external hard drives. If the drive does not have its own power supply consider getting a powered USB hub. This should help.

AppleScript-based rule only works manually
Greetings,
I have set up numerous Rules to automatically move messages to specific folders, based on Subject headers. These work automatically, as new mail comes in.
However, one of my Rules is set up to "Run Applescript." The script deals with a single file that gets e-mailed to me by one of my webservers at 11:00 each night. It deletes the previous night's file from the HD, grabs the new attachment, saves it to the HD, and deletes the message in Mail. The script works correctly, but the Rule (which is set as Active) only works when I select the message and do it manually (Command-Option-L) -- not automatically when the message arrives.
Why is this?
The script, which lives in /Library/Scripts/Mail Scripts/Rule Actions, is below.
Thanks!
DM
<hr>
using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages theMessages for rule theRule
tell application "Mail"
repeat with thisMessage in theMessages
set theAttachment to first item of thisMessage's mail attachments
set theAttachmentFile to theAttachment's name
tell application "Finder"
if exists "iBook:Users:me:Documents:" & theAttachmentFile then
delete "iBook:Users:me:Documents:" & theAttachmentFile
end if
end tell
save theAttachment in "iBook:Users:me:Documents:" & theAttachmentFile
delete thisMessage
end repeat
end tell
end perform mail action with messages
end using terms fromI would start by verifying that the rule is in fact firing - add a set color of background action before the run applescript action.
Next I would try a few magic incantations:
change the script location to ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Mail/
remove the "for rule theRule" from the on perform
add an on run handler after the end of the existing script
using terms from application "Mail"
on run
tell application "Mail" to set sel to selection
tell me to perform mail action with messages (sel)
end run
end using terms from
Why? 'cos any scripts that I have successfully run from a rule are like that! The 3rd one has the advantage that you can apply your script to selected messages, which can be useful (though not in the present case).
If none of this works, it is time to try some serious debugging. You could consider putting in an try ... on error with a display dialog for the error message, or simply a display dialog on script entry to verify that it is running.
Let me know ...

Mouse only working in one USB slot
This is more of an anoyance than a problem. I've recently purchaced a Logitech wireless mouse. It has one of those dongle things that you plug into the USB port. The only problem is, that it only works in the one port (one closest to the power). This happens in OS X and in Windows XP. I've tried it on an indentical machine and it works in both. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Oh, memory sticks / usb hdds etc work in both slots fine...
Thanks in advance for any help...Ok, after reading a few other posts on here I did the SMC reset thing (take out battery and hold power button down). When I booted up the mouse worked in both slots. After a re-start it's back to the same place again, only working in one slot. Any advice on what I should do next?

Mouse only works when plugged into a specific USB port
Hello. I'm using a HP optical mouse that connects via USB plugin.
HP PIN: 505062-001 Rev.A
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
It only has full functionality when plugged into a specific USB port on my desktop. I can't get it to work with any other ports or chained with a HUB plugged into the port it likes. All of my other USB devices work fine with those ports and my HUBs. The red light on the bottom lights up but the mouse pointer does not respond to movement and clicking the buttons does nothing either.
1) I'm confident, that it's not a problem with the desktop hardware
2) I'm confident, that it's not a problem with the mouse hardware
When the mouse is fully functional, it's displayed under Devices and Printers, in the Devices category as "USB OPTICAL MOUSE".
When connected with the other ports or through a HUB, it appears as TWO entries in the Devices category: "HID-compliant mouse" and - here's the suspicious part - "HID-compliant keyboard"
I suspect that something's up with the driver for the mouse. Any clues, as to which driver I need? Or, is the cause of the problem something else entirely?Hello Tick_Noby,
Your mouse only works in certain usb ports.
Has the mouse ever worked in the ports?
You can go to device manager and uninstall the fake keyboard and the mouse and restart the computer.
It seems that the driver is not correct for the mouse.
Also reset BIOS defaults.
Turn off the computer.
As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.
When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.
If it has not been to long since the problem started, you can run a system restore.
This will take the system back to when everything was working correctly without affecting your personal files.
Here is a link on how to do a restore.
Let me know how everything goes
Have a good day. -

Here is what Apple says on their Canadian web-site:
<http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone?mco=OTY2ODA2OQ# faqs>
"Can I use my iPhone outside my home country?
Yes. iPhone is enabled to work on carrier networks using GSM around the world. Because the iPhone sold by the Apple Online Store is commitment-free, you can purchase a SIM or micro-SIM card and service from a local carrier at your destination. " -
I have a ipod mini from 2005, it will only work on my charger. I did get a new i pod touch 4, how do i get the music from the old mini to the new touch. I have never put any music on it myself, my ex-husband did it all and has the password. I never new it. I'm sure not about to call him and I don't think he'd give it to me anyway. Please help!!!
I don't think the password will matter, because you can't use anything on the iPod or in iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
The simple software "lock" used on iPods should not prevent you from off-loading the song files. Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library. Then, you can do a Restore on the iPod to give it a fresh start and sync it (and the iPod touch) as desired.
NOTE: For songs purchased by you from the iTunes Store, you can also re-download them to your computer at no cost, from the iTunes Store Purchased screen. The link to Purchased is on the iTunes Store Home screen, under QUICK LINKS. -
How do you set the remote only to work with the MacBook and not the Hi-Fi.
I have a Hi-Fi Apple stereo hooked up to my Macbook but when I use the Apple remote, it controls both things.
So if I am scrolling through my music in Frontrow then the volume on the Hi-Fi stereo is turning down or up depending on which way I am scrolling.
My question is:
How do I make the remote work with only my MacBook?Pair the remote with your macbook by isolating it point the remote at it while holding down the menu and next buttons. You see like a chain appear and that will mean the remote is paired. Now only the macbook will only respond to the macbooks remote. Do the same with the Hi-Fi remote and now the hi-fi will only work with the hi-fi remote.

Junk Mail only works after I disable and reenable Junk Mail Filtering
Since installing Tiger, junk mail filtering does not work automatically. It neither marks incoming messages as junk nor moves them to the Junk folder.
I am able to get it to work by selecting Preferences > Junk Mail and then unchecking "Enable junk mail filtering" and then checking it. Mail then asks to "Move Junk Messages" and when I respond "Yes" it marks the appropriate messages as Junk and moves them to the Junk folder.
Unfortunately, it only works for the messages already received. New mail that is "junk" is not marked as such and appears in my inbox and I have to repeat the manual process to get it removed.
Any suggestions for a more permanent solution?
17 iMac Mac OS X (10.4)Will it also forget the "learned" junk mail? (That took years to learn.)
No.
The MessageRules.plist file stores all Mail.app rules including the default Junk Mail rules.
All Junk Mail "learned" settings are stored in the LSMMap2 file also located at the first level within the Mail folder.
Since the LSMMap2 file can become corrupt as with any other file, this file should be included with a regular backup of the Mail folder and the Mail.app preference file at Home > Library Preferences > com.apple.mail.plist.
All Mail.app account information is stored in the Mail.app preference file.
If you experience any problems with the Junk Mail filter, your options are using the Junk Mail reset feature which resets all "learned" settings or replace the existing LSMMap2 file with a copy of a working backup copy with the Mail.app quit before doing so.
If the Mail.app preference file becomes corrupt (which I've never experienced but others have), when targeting the preference file requires re-entering all email account information. If you have a working backup copy of the com.apple.mail.plist file, you can replace the existing with the Mail.app quit before doing so without having to re-enter all email account information again.
You need to replace an existing backup copy of the Mail.app preference file only after making any changes to account information or when adding or deleting an account in Mail.
You may already have a backup strategy but if not, it is very important since it isn't a matter of if but when your hard drive has a partial or complete failure. I learned my lesson the hard way about 5 years ago. Without warning, I experienced a complete hard drive failure. I didn't maintain a backup at the time and none of the existing data was recoverable. -
Time Machine backups only work after restart
Hi
Getting frustrated as Time Machine backups only work after a restart. Work for a few hours and then get stuck with Backing up: XXMB of XXGB. I have left it on this for many hours ie overnight without completion
I have a Mid 2014 MBP 13 in running 10.10.2
I backup onto an external USB via a hub.
Things I have tried with review of Pondini great site which has helped with different TM backup problems.
Disk permissions and repair of SSD on MBP (were errors but did not solve issue)
Direct USB connection
Backup via Airport Extreme
Re-index spotlight
Reformat USB disk
New USB disk!
Below is log (backupd filtered) of latest backup attempts including final completed occuring after restart.
Any help gratefully received

Backup completed successfully.1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/libexec;clear;cd;p=(1295 ' 0.5 0.25 50 1000 15 5120 1000 25000 6 6 5 1 0 100 ' 51 25600 4 10 25 5120 102400 1000 25 1536 450 40 500 300 85 25 20480 262144 20 Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
[Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
Please close this window.
[Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but whatever else you're told to do may not be. For others who choose to run it, I don't recommend that you post the test results on this website unless I asked you to.

Weblogic 4.5.1 disabling console output on server
Is there a property file setting which will disable console output on
the weblogic log?
Any help would be much appreciatedRob Woollen wrote:
I develop and run WebLogic on Linux with IBM's JDK 1.1.8.
Sun and Blackdown both have Java2 that are preliminary versions. I had
some problems with the Sun version, but the Blackdown 1.2.2 vm seems pretty
good.

Hi,
We currently use 4.5.1 on Linux with JDK 1.1.7b. Has anyone did the same
only with JDK2.0. I realize its not supported by weblogic on Linux, but
would like to know whether anyone has tried it anyway and how it worked out.
Thanks. TC
Hi,
I am running WL 5.1 on RedHat 6.1 with the JDK 1.2.2 RC4 from Blackdown.
Touch wood, I haven't had major issues yet, other than really basic ones. Of
course, things get interesting when you begin to realise the little bits and
pieces that are supported on other platforms, but not on Linux, such as the lack
of apache support (even though it is forthcoming in 5.1 GA from what I
understand).

IOS 5 Update Process Errors and Attempts Galore
