Disabling face-face culling for Collada embedding?

Having done my research prior to posting this question, and finding nothing, how may one go about disabling back-face culling for embedded 3D objects imported from Collada files? The default profile in Collada does not provide for a specific culling override flag nor is there any override UI control that I can see in iBooks to control the culling. This is similar behaviour as well in the Preview app.
Also, as a general question to Apple, is the Collada support in iBooks the same basic functionality built into the OS, as used by "Preview", and which was supposed to have been developed by Feeling Software back in 2007, funded by Google?

As one of the main data translations providers, Collada basically stalled at v1.4.1 for its world-wide acceptance in 3D apps, so that's basically what all 3D apps will be supporting for a decades to come. This is the version which is being tested.

  • Disable face detection for projects

Is there a way to have Aperture, not to use certain Projects for Face Detection?

Bummer. That means Aperture is working on literally thousand of useless faces.
And I have to go through the effort of rejecting potentially hundreds or thousands of false hits for no reason whatsoever.
    My short-term answer:
    1) Recognize Faces only on a per-project basis with the contextual menu.
    2) Turn off Faces in Prefs unless I'm using them in a session.
    3) Cancel Face Recognition in the Activities Window if it starts up otherwise.
Apple needs to fix this. Aperture is not iPhoto.

Ingenico has a 1D Bluetooth barcode scanner certified MFi by Apple.
    http://baracoda.ingenico.com/Baracoda-i-fly.aspx
Baracoda i-Fly is compatible with Apple iPod touch, iPhone and iPad.
Baracoda i-Fly supports IAP Bluetooth profile and is MFi certified, which means it is 100% compatible with Apple development standards and performances.
Its Bluetooth connection is bidirectional, which enables the i-Fly to transmit data both ways in mode « No Data Loss »).
Furthermore, Firmware update is also possible, which is not the case for non-MFi certified devices.

  • How to disable Faces.

I want to disable Faces.  It is causing problems and I have no need of it.

The following is a partial disablement of Faces.  It prevents iPhoto from creating the many Faces image files and adding to the faces database.  It won't prevent iPhoto from scanning for faces.
1 - open the library like this in the Finder.
2 - in the Database folder move this file to the Trash: Faces.db.
3 - close the package/folder and launch iPhoto.  Close it after a moment.
4 -  open the package, find the new version of the file and lock it via the Info window for the file.
5 - while viewing the contents of the package type Command+F to start a search.
6 - set the criteria of the search to:  Kind is Image and Name Contains "face".
7 - select all of the files in the search results window and drag to the Trash.
8 -close the package and launch iPhoto.
You will get the faces spinning wheel as it tries to index the library the first time it's opened but it won't be able to write to the database file if you should try to add a face and won't create any new jpeg faces files. Of course make a backup of your library before trying this and no guarantee implied.

  • Can you disable face analyzing in Imagebrowser EX?

I recently bought a Canon SX700HS and installed rhe software on Windows 7.
I really have no use for Face ID and would like to disable the Imagebrowser EX 1.5.0.6 feature that analyzes all the images in  my picture folders  (FaceExt).
I have unchecked the Face ID "Kepp analyzing face info after exit", but I really want to tottaly disable face analyzing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

You can't disable faces. From your other threads I suspect that your problem is that you have imported on Library to another.

  • Forcing Face Detection for All Pictures in an Event

Aperture 3.0 fails to detect all faces in all photos in an Event. Is there a way to force face detection for all photos in an Event? As it stands now, one cannot tag photos for faces if Aperture decides (erroneously) that photos don't contain a face.
Spent ninety minutes with Apple Aperture Support, who confirmed this.

I don't know how to answer your first question (force it for all photos), but I thought you could add faces / names to a photo using the Name button left hand side of the toolbar. I've used it today to add a "Face" to a photo containing two hands because I wanted to tag each hand with a Name. So I clicked Name, and drew a box on each hand and added a Name to it. So it works for a single photo but that might be a pain to do for a lot

  • Why No Face Detection for Mobileme Gallery?

I know to perform face detection, i goto Events, select a photo, then click the "Name" icon on the bottom toolbar, type in the name, and iPhoto will take care of the rest.
But when i open the Mobileme galleries in iPhoto and select photos, there is no "Name" icon on the bottom toolbar. How could i perform the face detection for mobileme photos then?
    Help very much appreciated

You can't. You'll need to do your naming with the versions in your Library.

  • I would like to organize Faces.  For example, those people I met in Austrailia, or those I met in Switzerland, or just my family.  Is this possible.

I have 1,440 photos in the iPhoto library, and I have identified most of the faces.  I have selected the primary picture which shows in the Faces Library.  I would like to organize these faces.  For example, those people I met in Australia, or in Switzerland or just those family members.  I don't want the picture from which the faces were identified, just the faces.  Is this possible with iPhoto?  If yes, what are the steps?  Thanks for any and all help.

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.

  • Can you turn Faces off for specific Projects?

I do photography just for myself normally, and for my pictures I like to use Faces. However, I've also done some photography for groups. I don't want Faces to try and tag these people, because I don't even know them! Is there a way to turn Faces off for certain projects, but not turn it off totally?

I have a similer thing since I use aperture for my work and for personal things. I use seperate libraries. Create a seperate library from the file menue. (File->switch library->other/new) make one for work (no faces) and one for personal (faces enabled) It's not as simple as setting it on or off for each project but it does work for me.

  • Project Oxford. Can I use the Face API for law enforcement app

    Hello,
I am a .Net developer and have recently learned of Microsoft's Project Oxford.
I am very much interested in developing an app using the Face API but, had a question regarding the code of conduct.
    Specifically it states:
People who use your app must have the consent of the people whose images are being processed by your app. We ask that you include a prominent notice in your app UI so your end users know that consent
    is required.
The  application I am attempting to develop is for law enforcement to detect wanted persons while out on patrol.
    My questions are:
    1. Is there an exception to the rule above for law enforcement?
    2. Can I use the Face api for my application knowing that
in most cases law enforcement will not specifically ask for consent while scanning people?
As always thank you for your assistance.
