Disabling GFX card driver

Hello,
I am having some issues working with Apple Color.
The issues are generally caused by Color not liking 2 GFX cards in my system.
I have a GT120 used as a main card and also a Quadro 4000 that is needed as a GPU for grading software.
To make a long story short:
After installing 10.6.7 Combo from apple website Apple Color works fine, but I can't get DaVinci Resolve to work as there are no up-to date Quadro 4000 drivers.
When I install proper Quadro 4000 drivers, I can run Resolve, but this ***** up the Color installation.
I have isolated files that are responsible.
These are files in System/Extensions folder starting from NV… and GeForce…
Now questions:
*Question 1*
Is there anything like creating sort of configuration that would somehow switch between 2 sets of files so that I can restart the computer in some way and use one set of files and then easily switch between the second set? The best way would be to do it w/out the restart.
*Question 2*
Is there any way of installing extensions manually in other way than running an installer?
Basically I would love to check file by file if I can create a mix of versions of these driver files so that I could check if there's any magic combination where both programs run?
*Question 3*
Is there any way of disabling some hardware or exclude it from a running system?
In fact Apple Color does not even make use of Quadro 4000, but this card, as a 2nd spoils it causing external video signal loss (on a separate video card). That's why somehow hiding or removing Quadro 4000 prior to starting Color should help.

Yes, this update makes Quadro work fine and I can run a Resolve which makes use of it, but as I said - it spoils my color installation and Color won't work.
What do you mean by a dual boot system?
Separate drives? Or multiple systems on a drive?
Any guidelines? I am not a Mac Geek.

Thank you for your query.
I understand that you are unable to install the latest graphic drivers for your notebook from the manufacturer's site.
This in not a uncommon difficulty with switchable graphics which you have.

To regain the functionality of the switchable graphic I would reinstall the original drivers using the recovery manager.

If this does not work I suggest you do a recovery back to factory.

How do you hook up a TV monitor to a second GFX card?

hi - after i learned that the Nv7800GT GFX card I ordered with my G5 dual core doesn't output to S-Video, i ordered and installed a 6600 card (which allegedly does). However now that it is installed, i can't seem to get it to recognize the TV monitor i've hooked up using the apple DVI to S-Video adapter. the system profiler just tells me "no display connected" on both of its ports.
Can someone please help me to set this up correctly? I want to use the 6600 to drive an external monitor or beamer.

yes. i notice that in the sys prefs only my cinema display (the one connected to the 7800GT) is shown. in my experience of using "extended desktop" mode, i would see a second display listed, along with several resolution options.
but in this case, i am not using a single gfx card with a second monitor hooked up. so why do i not "see" the second card in the control panel? (it shows up in the system profiler)

If you are using the integrated VGA of an i815 chipset it's really not worth anything.
Have a look in the device manager what display adapter is installed.
If the integrated VGA is in use it will be disabled the moment you install an AGP card, there isn't a manual disable option.

REQUEST: GFX Card temp control for Core Center

I'm using both MSI Mainboard and GFX card, 875P Neo MP (using P4 3.2 GHz Prescott) and GF6800 Ultra AGP GFX card.
I got processor/ northbridge and GFX card watercooled.
I got one problem however, I currently am controlling the fans for the radiator with the fan control for the processor since I sometimes use processor more than GFX card, but I may have to change it to the GFX card fan controller since this also gets hottest some of the time...
I would love if there was possible to add the function to Core Center that would show the GFX card temperature, and then set the fan speed according to the greatest temperature of the GFX/CPU temperatures.
Or if it is easier, if there is a program that can do this allready made, a link to it would be nice

There is no thing as system/case temp sensor on theese mobos.Only cpu & nv-chipset .
The temperature you see in corecenter as systemp is actually the nvidia chipset temperature .
Northbridge memory functions is taken over by the athlon 64 , thats why MSI finds it more reasonable to display
the nv-chip temp as systemp (remember that corecenter is an allround app for all msi mobos) .
Rest of the nb/sb functions are implemented as a single chip solution in the nvidia chipset chip.
So the traditional nb/sb solution is no longer existing.
The Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 FX each features its own integrated memory controller—single-channel for the Athlon 64 and dual-channel for the Athlon 64 FX. Instead of connecting to a traditional northbridge, these CPUs connect to a video card through a HyperTransport Graphics Tunnel. I'm running 2 GF 8800 GTs (PCIe .) cards on a MSI Eclipse SLI board. My Audigy2 ZS PCI runned fine in this system.
I just replaced the Audigy by a PCIe X-Fi (EMU20K2 audio processor - not the xtreme audio from MSI).
Now I'm dealing with the following issue:
- System startup is slow
- in Windows, Mouse is slow, stuttering
- high CPU-Load
- very slow system response
!!! Attention !!! I had this problems allready at the st boot with the X-Fi, when the driver from creative wasn't installed (the card was recognized as "HD Audio" bei Windows 7). Installing the drivers didn't help.
If I install only one graphics card, the system runns fine and I can use the X-Fi and it's Software without problems.
If I replace the X-Fi by the PCIe Xtreme Audio from MSI, System runns fine.
If I use Win XP with the two GFX cards and the X-Fi, System runns fine.
Can you help me?

got the same problem if i use my two Nvidia GTX260.
My system:
Asus P6T
I7 920 @ 3,8GHz
2GB ram
Gigabyte GTX260 OC Edition
Nvidia GTX260
X-Fi XtremeGamer
-System (Win7x64) takes ~0min to start.
-Stuttering mouse, keyboard everything >.<
Deactivating the onboard sound doesnt help.
Newest Nvidia and Creative driver too =(
The system runs fine without the X-FI and two GTX260 no errors ect...
One GTX260 runs also fine with the X-FI
But two graphic cards and the X-FI..... **bleep** =/
I use debian as my main OS and it run still fine with both graphic cards and the x-fi...
so i think its just a driver problem.
Hope it will be fixed soon =/

GFX card has died, what new cards will my P965 Platinum support?

Good morning all. As the topic says, my gfx card has died. It was a Gainward 8800GTS 320mg, and fell foul of the apparently common solder issue. It's way out of warranty now, so i need a new card. I can't afford a full upgrade, so i need to find a card that will run on my P965 Platinum. The 3 cards that i'm considering are the nVidia 550Ti, the ATI 6790, and most of all the ATI 6850. Will they all work, but primarily will the 6850 work on the P965, or will I have issues due to it being an ATI card?
My hardware specs are:
P965 Platinum, running the stock BIOS (i assume, i have never flashed it).
Intel E6600 dual core, running at stock speed.
4 sticks of Corsair xms2 "cm3x1024-6400c4" 4-4-4-12 800mhz DDR2 ram, at stock settings.
Corsair HX620W PSU. I can't check exactly what it's running at as the gpu is dead, but the manual says:
+3.3V 24A 170W
+5V 30A 170W
+12V1 18A 600W
+12V2 18A 600W
+12V3 18A 600W
-12V 0.8A 9.6W
+5VSB 3A 15W
WD Raptor system drive.
As a secondary question, what E and Q chips can the Platinum take, preferably without a BIOS update? The main MSI website no longer has the 965 specs available and my manual is nowhere to be found.

edit: sorry, forgot to mention that i'm running XP SP2 (32bit i think), and have no intention of ever having 2 gfx cards so crossfire/SLI isn't an issue for me. Upgrading to 64bit win7 is no trouble if that's necessary/advised.

Updating graphics card driver for G5350uk

We have a G5350uk desktop. Serial Number: [edited Serial Number by Moderator] Product Number: XS612EA. Its running 64bit windows7 and internet explorer 8, which is no longer compatible with a number of web pages so we wanted to upgrade to ie11.
Except we can't upgrade because we don't have service pack 1 installed. Service Pack1 can't be installed because our graphics card driver is one of those that stops the windows update from functioning properly and detecting Service Pack 1.
So I tried to upgrade the device driver, but its says its the most current one, so I loaded the Intel untility which told me I needed to source the driver from the manufacturer.
So I came to the G5350 support page and allowed it to scan my PC. I get then get into a loop with the annoying message pasted below.
HP was unable to verify that you have this product, but did find other products.

Which is all very frustrating as i'm clearly searching for the right thing, the web site says it can't find what I'm looking for but then tells me its found exactly what I'm looking for! When I select the option suggested it just goes back around in the same loop.
I stil don't have an updated graphics card driver to get around the Service Pack installation issue and so still can't look at an increasing number of websites.
What am I missing?

Mazrak, welcome to the forum.
This is the only driver that is available for your Integrated Video. You can't use retail versions of drivers for HP's Integrated Video.
I suggest uninstalling the current driver by going into Control Panel / Device Manager / Display adapters. Right click on your adapter and select "Uninstall". Then, you can install the driver that I provided and reboot. This may solve your problem if a glitch has occurred.

New GFX card, Quartz Extreme error, and suddenly FCP 6 will not run. Help me fix this problem please!

My old GFX card nVidia GeForce 7300GT which is busted.
I replaced it with a nVidia NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 from a Mac Pro of the same generation.
I'm now getting a Quartz Extreme error whenever I try to run Final Cut Pro 6 or Compressor. "This system does not meet the following minimum requirements: Final Cut Pro 6 requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme capable video card."
Well, I checked the specs of the card and it does support Quartz Extreme. So why isn't FCP 6 running?
Looking under the System Profiler > Graphics/Displays, it doesn't say the Cinema HD Display supports Quartz Extreme, but how could that be, because the Quadro 4500's specs online says it does?!! This was the better GFX card made for the same generation of Mac Pro but somehow doesn't work!
This is also effecting my DVD player App with an error: "A valid video device could not be found for playback: -70017". Which has never happened before either.
I've researched online and can't find anything that works.
The card has power running to it and the monitor is hooked into the closest DVI port to the logic board which most of people with the same problem have done to fix this. I've also gone into the Disk Utility and ran both Verify and Repair permissions and the same for the boot disk.
Nothing. I'm stumped. Short of trying to flash the ROM on the GFX card I'm not sure what to do. And I'm not comfortable doing that. Help please?

I have done clean installation of Windows 8.1 on my HP Pavilion G4.
Then I realize that I cannot put my computer on sleep mode and cannot adjust screen brightness.
I understand that those problems caused by the graphic card driver.
My computer is running on AMD Radeon HD 6400 series.
Thus, I manually search on internet and found a latest graphic card update on microsoft site that is claimed compatible on windows 8.1 (link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/dn344644.aspx).
I've upgraded it into the latest one. I've check on Device Manager, the driver is running well.
But my problem did not solved!

How about go to Device Manager, then uninstall Graphic driver and restart your computer, system will install its build in graphic drver. You can have a try.
In addition, access to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Brightness and set its value to 100 for test.

How to un-intall/re-install audio card driver

I am having a lot of problems with streaming video on netflix, which has to do with the audio card driver. I need to figure out how to uninstall/reinstall the audio card driver in order fo rthis to work again. Any help?

I don't speak this language. I have a Power Mac G5 Quad. When I go to "About this MAC" it says that I have PCI something, but nothing about "Express Quartz Extreme". Will I need to update my graphics card before installation.

If you have the basic Power Mac Quad G5 it came with the Nvidia GeForce 6600 with 256MB memory.
You have no need to worry about your GFX card.
You can see that you have "Quartz Extreme" supported by looking at the Graphics/Displays tab in System Profiler.
(the "Express" part belongs with PCI, not Quartz Extreme. You have a "PCI Express" card.)
