what are the impacts of disabling/deleting default guest user in BO XI R2 SP1 in a Unix solaris environment.

You require the "Guest" account for the following:
You have clients logging onto your Enterprise deployment using the "Guest" account.
You have some custom Java, .NET or COM Report Application Server (RAS) SDK applications - likely migrated from RAS 9, Crystal Enterprise 10 Embedded, or Crystal Reports Server XI Embedded, that uses what's called "unmanaged reporting" (i.e., RPT files not published to Enterprise, but copied to the OS file structure).
You will have to ask your IT deployment team whether either applies to you.

All of a sudden I have a "Guest User Account" on my login screen. I never enabled it, and it wasn't there before. I checked my Users preferences and it clearly shows the Guest User Account is disabled (nothing checked). Any ideas how to remove it from my login screen? Thanks.

I did not have the guest user account available and then after I changed some of my setting for my mail, I noticed that when I logged back in the guest user icon was present. I do not want to have this guest user account on my log in screen. I tried to delete it from my system preferences but all it does is disable the guest user but the icon still appears. I need some help!

How to disable that “Guest User” from appearing at the OS X 10.7.2 login screen
Open System Preferences
Click on “Security & Privacy”
Click the lock in the lower corner and type in your administrative password to unlock the control panel
Check the box next to “Disable restarting to Safari when screen is locked”
This prevents the Guest User account from being visible at the login screen both during reboot and at the login screen. Again, it’s highly recommended to keep this enabled for security purposes, but if your Mac is locked down with a security cable or you don’t have any use for Find My Mac, you could disable this and not feel too bad about it.

I have EP 7.0 SP13. Whenever I restart J2EE engine, I see guest users gets logged in on each server node.Could you please provide me with details what this guest users? How can I prevent guest users from loggin into all the nodes.

Hi,
Dear friend guest users are critical for restart. This is no unique situation and you can be happy with this.
The system uses guest user to do basic restart. I dont see any security issues. If you disable guest user , your Portal will not start up.

Help enabling guest users

The other day I went to system preferences and disabled guest users on my Macbook Air. Now I want to enable them again, but in Users & Groups preferences I can't click on the "Guest User" icon in the sidebar under other users, even when the lock icon is unlocked. I remember this was where I clicked "disable guest users." Is there any other way to enable them again? And why can't I click on it anymore?

You can't enable the guest account when FMM is on. It has its own "Guest User" pseudo-account, which actually reboots from the Recovery system and allows only Safari to run.

Random Guest User Appeared?

Since i downloaded and updated iOS5 on my iphone and got iCloud Etc. all of a sudden i have a 'Random Guest User' on my login screen.
I Went into System Pref. and tried to delete it but it wont allow me to.
It says "Sharing User" underneath it.
Can anyone help me?

SOLVED Ok. I actually was able to disable it. I had to actually log in as the guest user to make it accessible in the preference window. Then I disabled it and logged out. Apologies if this was obvious for some people, but I have had some sort of issue with something every update since Snow Leopard.

Is there a way to disable the unlimited Lifetime option in Cisco WCS Guest User Add/Schedule tab.If i make those fields uneditable, it just takes out the option to schedule any meetings in future.Using Cisco WCS version 7.0.220.0.

couldn't be that there are only few people who are disappointed with this solution.

Disable Time Capsule Guest user access

Hi there, I have a 1TB Time Capsule running 7.6.1.
I had previously set Shared disk access to With Accounts and setup 2 accounts.
This worked great as i always had to authenticate to gain access ot the files.
Since the latest update guest also has access!
Is there any way to disable guest having access to my disks that i have set to with accounts?
If this is not possible then the Tome Capsule is inherantly insecure!
Worse than that it's pretending to be secure by setting secure disk access but still allowing access to all the files by guest! not good

Hi there. I think that when you set shared disk protection with accounts, folders are created for each of the accounts and an aditional one called "Data". As a guest, you can access the Data folder without password but not the other folders. If you log in with an account, you can access your account folder and the Data one.
Still, I agree this is a serious problem. For months I had my Time Capsule disc protected wtih device password, thinking everything was safe, until a friend of mine told me he could access my Time Machine files without entering any password from outside my LAN. My entire system was exposed during that time. I still don't know how to block guest access using protection with device or disc password.
Apple should fix this, there should be millions of users with their files exposed on the internet without their knowledge.

How do I enable guest user after disabling by accident??

Someone had logged in under my guest account without my knowledge and I did alot of work in my photo editing software and when I realized I wasnt in my account I disabled guest log in and now I cant get into my stuff Not to mention I cant update my software bc it says others are logged in and I need to log out and if I restart my computer it says since others are logged in i might lose my stuff. Does anyone know how to fix this?

A true Guest User account nothing is saved or preserverd on log out.
A User account is a different story.
Look in your list of current user >System Preferences>Users& Groups
log into the user account you logged out of.
In the help menu bar at the top of your screen search for " user account" > set up users...

Guest User disabled in Lion

I can't seem to enable the guest user in Lion. (was ok under Snow Leopard) I have an Admin and two users accounts enabled but I cannot enable a the Guest User account -tick boxes stay greyed out. Anny ideas?

I use Guest so that Friends, kids etc can use machine withouout upsetting any of my stuff. However I read some more posts, and need to add that I had enabled FileVault on Lion (but not on OSX 10.6 as did not work with Time Machine).
Just in case you are wondering, I enabled File Fault in case I need to send iMac back for repair (this did happen on my old iMac when DVD packed up within 6mts!).
I guess I'll set-up a basic account with login. See if I can work out how to delet all file created on logout.

Restart the computer (with Parental Controls off) and try again. If there's no change, see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
