I've cleared almost 30 gig off of my hard drive in the past 2 weeks, and it will temporarily show that in the Get Info box. But hours later, I am still getting a disk full error and all of the memory has disappeared. I have cleared my backup logs from Time Machine, checked the mail folder, cleaned out tons of photos and videos and it still keeps filling back up.
In checking the log files, here is the message repeated over and over....

Quit Calendar. Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a file named "Calendar Cache" selected.
Move the selected file to the Trash. There may be one or two other files in the same folder with names that begin in "Calendar Cache". If so, delete those files too.
Step 2
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash as well:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders. It may take some minutes for ODS to list all the files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal. -
TZ of Day/Week/Month View is US/Pacific - Info Box & System TZ US/Eastern
Just noticed this - don't think its been happening for long - probably a couple of days at the worst.
When I create a New Event, the Time Zone is automatically incorrectly set to US/Pacific. I change it to Eastern (via Info Box) and it displays in the Info Box as Eastern, but the Daily/Weekly/Monthly view seems to remain at US/Pacific. (System prefs set to Eastern TZ).
In addition ALL my events display in Day/Week/Month view as US/Pacific TZ, even tho Info Box TZ (and system TZ) is US/Eastern.
For Example: Info box says event starts at 5PM goes to 9PM, Time Zone is US/Eastern. Calendar Display in Day, Week or Month shows event from 2PM to 6PM.
This has affected every one of my events.
I am running OSX 10.4.9,build 8P135 iCal Version 2.0.5 (1069)
iCal Support for Time Zones turned On.
Date/Time System Preferences appear to be OK
System Time (measured by Menu Clock and verified by save time on a file) is OK - (Am writing this at about 2:40PM EST, Sunday 6/3/2007.

I see you're from Bristol, UK. A friend told me a few hours ago that he has to make a business trip there sometime this summer and was thinking about bringing his family (from Boston, USA). We were not too clear on English geography tho - is Bristol a decent family vacation destination?

I can't paste text into info boxes anymore with the latest version of itunes
Ever since I downloaded the latest version of itunes (on Windows 7), I can no longer paste text into the info boxes when I edit song information. I can’t paste by right-clicking or Ctrl+V, this is driving me crazy because I’m trying to add info on a Russian artist with Cyrillic letters and I can’t do it! I didn’t buy the song from itunes so it can’t be issues with Copyrighting although the same thing happens with songs from the store and every other song in my library. I can paste text into the lyrics section but that’s it. I restarted my computer after reinstalling the latest versions of itunes and Firefox today hoping it would fix my problem but it didn’t. Is this happening to anyone else? I hope someone can help me! Oh and it isn’t just with Russian, I tried to paste English info just to see if it was a problem with recognizing Cyrillic and still nothing pastes, the boxes just stay blank.
Itunes is annoying me more than ever. With the constant updates you’d think they would be able to improve all bugs but once one problem is fixed another occurs and it’s so irritating because I couldn’t care less about how my library looks as long as everything is organized in a simple way and I can sync my ipod without spending forever on itunes re-editing stuff and readjusting to updated layout changes. Click the drop down arrow at top left the Show menu.
Then iTunes menu View > Show sidebar.

When I take my phone off charge in the morning I get an info box on the front which has the sound trumpet icon with a line through it and the word Mute. The only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone any ideas as to how I can stop this happening?
Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time. -
"you shut down due to a problem" info box after boot from normal shutdown
After a normal shut down, (eject external drive, Click Shut Down from Apple menue).
Normal start up routine (push power button on back) results in Info Box telling me that I shfut down due to a problem ( i did not) and if I want to open windows open at time of shut down I should selct the check box and let it start up.
Where do you suppose this came from? and what do I do about troubleshooting ??

Program Info Box Won't Go Away / DVR Timeline Messed Up
Two issues I noticed yesterday:
1) When changing channels yesterday the program info box at the bottom of the screen would not go away. I pressed the 'Exit' key and it would stay off for 10-15 seconds before reappearing. The only resolution seemed to be to hit 'Guide'. More than a bit annoying when you are trying to watch a football game. This happened a few months ago as well.
2) Watching several shows on my DVR I noticed that the timeline was a mess. I went to fast-forward through commercials about 8 minutes into a DIY program and the elapsed time was closer to 15 minutes. Later the elapsed time showed 30:00 and the remaining time was 0:00, but I could still move back and forth through the progam which had about 7 minutes left. I saw this again later on a Discovery show.
Have either of these been reported in the past?I'm running 1.7.1, and I'm seeing problem #1 all of a sudden. Never had it happen before, and I found this thread while searching to see if anyone else was having this problem. In my case, any time I do something that causes the small info box to appear at the bottom of the screen, it remains there until I press "Exit." I'm concerned that whenever I'm recording and out of the house (i.e. not watching while I record, and therefore not around to hit the "Exit" button) everything on the DVR is going to have the info bar at the bottom of the screen for the entire duration of the program!
Does anyone know why this is happening, and whether a forthcoming firmware update will cure it? -

The RAW files I just downloaded on new MacBook Pro are designated as JPEG in the photo info box. Why??
How did you download? Have you been using the Import panel?
How is the pop-up selector for the "Raw+Jpeg" set?
If you are importing raw+jpeg pairs, and you set this to (Use Jpeg as original), then you will see a little J on the thumbnail, otherwise a R.
Or did ou import with Jpeg only? -
Disabled combo boxes don't display properly after loading a movie.
Hi,
I have a main movie that contains some combo boxes. Some of them may be disabled.
By pressing a button I load another movie using loadMovie. The loaded movie also contains combo boxes.
When the button is pressed, the clip that shows the combo boxes is removed from the stage and the loaded movie is displayed. By pressing another button, the loaded movie is unloaded and the clip with the combo boxes is displayed again.
Well, once the other movie has been loaded, when I go back to the clip with combo boxes, the disabled combo boxes have a small gray button covering the black down arrow.
I have determined that so long as the loaded movie contains combo box in the library, the problem occurrs, even if there is no actual instance of it.
The combo boxes that are not disabled are not affected. The combo boxes are disabled by setting "cb_name.enabled=false".
If the combo box is enabled, it displays correctly, but if disabled again, it goes wrong again.
My project is targeting Flash 8, so it uses AS2.
I'm using Flash CS4.
This is a very simple example I did to make sure I wasn't doing anything funny:

Container is a movieClip with a dark gray square shape the size of the movie clip that is loaded. It doesn't exist on frame 1, only on frame 2.
The combo boxes are inside a movie clip, and this is only on the stage on frame 1.
This and the captures belong to a very simple test I did. If there is a way of posting files, I can post a zip file with the two .fla and the two .swf. -

I have Selection screen where in 1st Block I have 3 Radio Button & respective input fields. In 2nd Block I have 2 Radio button & Respective Check Boxes. I used Loop At Screen for Disabling Input Fields in 1st Block whose Radio Button is not clicked. I need to do the same Functionality for 2nd Block so that I can Disable Check Box whose Radio Button is not Clicked.
I have allready writen USER-COMMAND ABC in 1sr Block.
And it wont allow me to write another USER-COMMAND for 2nd block. What Would I Do.

I'm using iPhoto. What do the two size listings (Mb) mean in the (i) - photo info box mean?
On my iPad in the iPhoto app I see MP (megapixels) for the photo's dimensions (width and height in pixels), and a value for the photo's size in MB (megabytes) for the amount of storage that it's taking up - is that what you mean ?

I keep having a floating Apple TV info box across my screen saver. How do I get rid of it?

not unless you use airplay from an ios device which support it or a mac which support it or windows computer using airparrot or a program like it -
My Ipad is frozen. It has info box that Icloud does not have enough storgae. Will not close, shut down or anything. no touch response at all.

Hold Sleep and Home buttons for 10 seconds until the device restarts, so you will be able to use the device again -
in iPhoto 09 Info does not show tags on aperture, time, iso etc. Other tags like place, pixels are shown. There is no little arrow on this info menu to go to full info box. How come ?
It does. Photos Menu -> Show Extended Photo Information.

Firefox is replacing double quotes with single quotes.
In WordPress and at other sites where I input and save text, Firefox is replacing double quotes with single quotes when I save. It's also showing double quotes as single quotes on websites. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and it's still happen
