Disabling option+function preferences shortcuts

Hi,
is there a way to prevent the option+function keybord shortcuts from opening the System Preferences app?
I would like to assign for example option+F3 to do something usefull, but it keeps up opening the Expose preferences, which is something I hardly ever need... in fact, it gets quite annoying when I hit this combo accidentally.
I want to use the F-keys for brightness, volume and so on, so the option "Use them as standard function keys" is NOT what I want.

You're not listening to what I wrote. Also note that there is a key on your keyboard labeled "fn." When I say press the fn key, I mean press the key on the keyboard that says "fn" on it.
The function keys on a Mac are dual-purpose. By default they work in one mode, the mode you want normally, which is that pressing the key gives you the picture functionality.
The second mode is invoked by holding down the fn key along with the F-key. You can swap that behavior in the system preferences, but that is not what I'm telling you to do.
I have no idea where the keys are mapped, so in the following assume the F3 key is also the "volume up" key.
With the function key prefs set the way you want them, opt-Fkey takes you to the preferences for that picture fuction because you are not telling the computer to use the alternate mode of the key. Those are hard-wired shortcuts that you can't change because there is no way to tell the keyboard shortcuts to "press the volume up key."  Until you hold down the fn key, that key is "volume up" not F3. Hold down fn and "volume up" is now F3.
With the preferences set to use the function keys as the pictures, if you want to get "F3" instead of "Volume Up," then you must hold down the fn key when you press the F3 key.
To make your shortcut work, you must not only hold down the option key, but also the fn key.
