Disabling Predictive TEXT feature

Is there a way of disabling thepredictive text when typing? It's really annoying when the phone chhoses what you want to write, or rather misprexicts your intended word, causing you to waste time deleting and retyping.
Sometimes the text window obstructs view of the text you want to copy! Its really a bore and I need to know how its disabled!

Yes go into Options,(wrench) and go to either typing or keyboard and untik predictive text.

  • How do you enable the built-in predictive text feature?

Built-in predictive text appears in the new features list, but I don't see an obvious way to access it.  Help?

I looked at your laptop service manual. These are your best options as the daughter card/ antina solution used in your laptop does not appear to have a direct upgrade. Newer laptops use a mini PCI (mPCI) solution.
Consider an Expresscard 34 or 54 solution. You laptop appears to have an Expresscard 54 slot that supports both 54 and 34 size cards.

  • Disabling predictive text function

Hi, I just bought a new laptop and downloaded the latest Firefox v 4.
How do you disable the predictive text function (?) ... so that I am not typing words in the search bars and then what I typed historically comes up as a suggestion?
I would rather have nothing other than just what I want to type.
    thanks

For the location bar choose "Nothing":
    * Firefox (Tools) > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: Nothing
For the search bar and forms on web pages see:
    * Tools > Options > Privacy > History: [ ] "Remember search and form history"

  • Can predictive text be turned off?

Can predictive text be turned off?

Just wanted to add my voice to those who want to disable predictive text. I hated it on my Nokia and turned it off (YES!!!). It makes my iPhone 3G seem LESS intuitive because it rarely, if ever, divines MY intentions. Whether it is a name, a term or phrase or from the smattering of foreign languages I incorporate in EVERYDAY life, the iPhone vomits up wrong choices, forcing me to correct, re-type, and sometimes re-re-re-type what I want. This is not a SMART feature.
Kinda reminds me of the usual MS explanation: it's not a bug, it's a feature!
PUH-LEASE, Apple... Give us the power in the next software upgrade!

  • Suggestions - predictive text and text entry

I don't know if this forum is intended for suggestions but here are a couple anyway.
    1. Because email and sms text do not operate in landscape mode the keyboard is very small. This leads to a large number of text entry errors compared to ther devices I have used. The screen sensitivity is excellent so this is ont a problem with using a touch device. Allowing landscape data entry would go a long wawy to solving this problem - the keyboard when used with safari in landscape mode is a lot better (perhaps 10% of the missed keys). An alternative which would be better for single handed use would be to ditch the qwerty layout and have a key pad that runs to 4 or 5 rows of keys instead of 3. In most cases it is only neccesary to see a single line of text entry so there is plenty of screen re-estate to do this.
    2. The predictive text feature on the iPhone is very poor. This is due to a fundamental error in its design. The current implementation assumes that the current word typed is complete but may be misspelled. To be more useful the feature needs to assume that the characters typed are correct and suggest complete words that start with the fragment available. The predictive text in Windows mobile is infinately better that that of the iPhone (and one of the few features I miss from my old phone!).
If this is the wrong place for posting these suggestion - sorry

  • Predictive text on standard English keyboard disabled

When I install third-party keyboards, the predictive-text option for the standard English keyboard is disabled and not able to be re-enabled - it looks fine under settings, but on the globe pop-up, the switch is off and incapable of being enabled.

    Hi there,
It did indeed come with predictive text. To make sure you have it, go to Options > Keyboard. The fourth entry down should be "Show predictions and suggestions" and it should be on.
Do you see that, or not?

  • Predictive text non-English characters to be made ...

I just filled an enhancement request on this feature, please vote for it HERE:
Predictive text non-English characters to be made optional
The story is: while using predictive text for non-English languages (Polish in my case) the dictionary words are grammar correct which include special characters like: ą,ę,ć,ś,ż,ź,ó,ł etc. For texting (SMS) operators count these as 3 characters making a message much longer than it looks. Therefore I can tell you no one uses these characters while texting and people use EN only characters instead a,e,c,s,z,o,l... which makes using the predictive text useless for eg Polish language.
I'd like to have an option to switch using these non-en chars off for predicting text, which is grammatically not correct but in real life that's how people type.
So basically if there's an option to disable lang specific characters I would be getting an example suggestion of 'Prosze' instead of grammatically correct 'Proszę'. 'Prosze' is a 6 character word, 'Proszę' is a 5+3=8 character word. Considering a single SMS message a 300 chars, than it really makes a difference.
Simple solution would be to replace every char ą with a, ć with c, ó with o etc... in each word suggested for the ones who have this option enabled.

    HI,
You can write a code in PAI of main screen. there by using loop at screen you can make that field editable or disabled.
    Code sample:
    loop at screen.
    ****condition for value check
    if screen-name = 'TEXT_EDIT_NAME'
    screen-output = 1.
    screen-input = 0.
    modify screen.
    endif.
    endloop.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Disabling ALL autotext features

    Hello,
I have read the manual, checked forums and looked for ways of disabling all autotext/suretype, 'helpful' text features on the Blackberry and peversely I have only succeeded in making it the DEFAULT option when I am sending an SMS.
I have tried to the option "Disable AutoText" under the SMS menu and it has actually made it worse.
I have tried the option "Show text input options" under Language and Text input and unchecked all checkboxes, this made it worse (appeared to turn on all types of predictive texting).
Please can someone tell me how to disable all of this junk so that I just have normal texting!
    Many thanks
    Carrier: O2 (UK)
    Model: Blackberry Pearl 3G (9100)
    OS: v5.0.0.748 (Platform 6.2.0.69)
    File free: 12MB
Apps: Googlemaps 4.4.0m YouTube player 1.2.41.

    Hello Derezed,
AutoText can not be disabled as it has the auto correction for misspelled words as well as short cuts (such as when you type dont and hit space, it auto corrects it to don't).
You can delete all of these entries if you wish so when you are typing your words are not correct.
I you want to turn off word suggestions, you might want to turn off spell check. In your Options>Spell Check, remove the check from "Check Spelling as you Type" which will disable the word suggestions to help correct spelling or predict words.
    Hope this helps.
Thanks and have a great day.

  • Predictive text (normal vs word suggestions)

Using a 3120classic I've selected Predictive Text - Word Suggestions.
On my previous (non Nokia) device with predictive, when I started entering a long word like 'yesterday' after a few characters it would autocomplete the whole word. I thought that's what choosing Word Suggestions would do but it doesn't seem to.
Is this sort of feature available?

Which Nokia phone will give me word suggestion? I don''t particularly want a very sophisticated phone with camera, internet etc. All I want is to speak and text, but with word suggestion, completing the words for me,  not only the basic predictive text. Can someone please suggest a phone that actually does that instead of only claiming to do it? (And what's the law on misleading claims? W.S. is listed in the functions!)

  • Predictive Text not smooth in ios 8.1.3

Does anyone know why predictive text is not good after updating ios 8.1.3. What's happening ? I turned on and off again and again, but still the same. The previous one is much better. Why?

    Here is your quick fix.
    1. Make sure your Predictive text is on
    2. Go to your messages app
    3. Make sure your keyboard is up in the messages bar
    4. On top of your keyboard in the center there is a small WHITE LINE
    5. Touch and hold on that spot until that white line is gray out
    6. Flick your finger/thumb up and Bam!!there is your predictive text.
    7. FYI if you are typing and somehow you flick your thumb down, you will close that predictive feature by accident.
    Hope this help you out!!

  • How does predictive text work?

I realise that I must be the last person on the planet to start using predictive text, but I've just turned it on and I don't understand it.
For example, I click the "5" key for a "J" and it produces a "K".
I've no idea what's going on. Are there any 5 year olds out there who can explain how to use this feature?
Any idiots guide I can access?
    Jeff
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You have to type the whole or most oa a word before predictive text starts making any sense of it.
Eg. if you want to type the word "home", it is 4663. The word displayed weill be "good" which uses the same combination. Now you can cycle between the various works using the same combination using the * key. The second word in the sequence happens to be "home" but if you keep pressing the * key will see the rest.

  • 7205 Intrigue (Verizon) Predictive Text Dictionary...

This is the only downfall to this phone. I will be advising everyone I know as well as forum members that this phone is not for anyone who enjoys their texting to be more like they way in which they speak. The WORD (predictive text) dictionary on the phone doesnt save words and it is a pain in the butt to go in and save every single Quick Entry word you would like to use.
I will most likely be retuning this for a Motorola or Samsung in the next 2 weeks if a software update is not provided to fix this issue.
    Any suggestions?
    -Paul

I concur with thegr8revealing.  The lack of a save function for predictive text is more than a slight annoyance.  I'm on day 3 with the phone and I continously run into words that are missing from the dictionary that I'm forced to enter in long-hand.  For me, it nearly defeats the purpose of the text message.  Which I try to use for quick and short communications.
It baffels me that this feature was left out of the phone - it's so basic, but it greatly improve the experience of text messaging (something you may not appreciate unless you've experienced; it's trully frustrating!).
Like thegr8revealing, I will likely return the phone unless this issue can be resolved.

  • I cannot use the add text feature of my tripod website builder with firefox

I have a tripod website which I have had for years, I E, and Firefox no longer work to use the add text feature of the website builder at tripod. I tried Safari, but it isn't letting me put in a link in the text. Is there a way that firefox browser can help with this problem?

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • How do I disable popup text from my iphone 5?

Can anyone tell me how to disable popup text message on my iPhone5s? Can't see any reason why I should read the message twice.

Isn't more convenient  to read the message as a pop-up text and then to reply it? FYI This feature will come on iOS8 this fall. If i were you I wouldn't disable the notifications texts.
