Disabling Replication on Active DAG

I have a Exchange 2010 DAG setup with a separate Mapi and Replication network.   I've noticed that replication is enabled on both. Would there be any problem with disabling replication on the MAPI network? This is an active dag with Production Databases
replicating successfully.

Hi,
It is recommended to have two NICs for DAG members, one for replication, one for MAPI. Normally, replication is disabled on MAPI network. It is an expected behavior.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Exchange 2013 - Unbound Stretched Active/Active DAG

    I'm designing an Active/Active DAG utilizing a 3-site scenario, with the third site for FSW.
    I intend to have 3 CAS+MBX servers in each location.
    Site A & B are separately co-located and Site C is geographically distant site for the FSW
    Should the WAN connections of Site A go down (for whatever reason), do the passive copies of Site A's DB's on Site B automatically mount?
    What happens with the copies in Site A when this is going on, and what occurs when the links are restored? Is there any manual intervention required here and is DAC/Split-Brain syndrome a concern at all?
    What if the client doesn't want Auto-failover, can blockautoactivation be set for the passive DB's to -SiteOnly?

    Hi Hayley,
    Q:- Should the WAN connections of Site A go down (for whatever reason), do the passive
    copies of Site A's DB's on Site B automatically mount?
    Yes it could be automatically mount depends on DAC mode, you should enable it by default it is disable.
    Q:- What happens with the copies in Site A when this is going on, and what occurs when the links
    are restored? Is there any manual intervention required here and is DAC/Split-Brain syndrome a concern at all?
    Site A copy would be like Passive Copy which will get the log shipping from Site B once the WAN link will be up and running, as the DAC mode is enable will not allow
    the Site A database to mount its database once it will up and running,
    You can later change your active copy to Site A.
    Q: - What
    if the client doesn't want Auto-failover, can blockautoactivation be set for the passive DB's to -SiteOnly?
    Please check the below link for better understanding.

  • How to create a disabled account in Active Directory?

    Hi all,
    I got the assignment to create AD accounts as soon as a new employee is entered into the hr system, which might be several weeks before their contract actually starts. Therefore the account should be disabled until the start of their contract and be enabled then.
    Now, I tried a very simple approach and set accounts[Active Directory].disable=true during active sync when creating the account. According to the audit-entries, the value is set correctly, but my AD just doesn't bother. The account is created but not disabled. :-(
    What can I do? The workflow so far was just "start -> provision -> end" and I tried to change it to "start -> provision -> disable ->end" with a new action like this:
    <Activity id='4' name='Disable AD'>
    <Action id='0' application='com.waveset.session.WorkflowServices'>
    <Argument name='op' value='checkoutView'/>
    <Argument name='type' value='Disable'/>
    <Argument name='id' value='$(user.waveset.accountId)'/>
    <Argument name='authorized' value='true'/>
    </Action>
    <Action id='1'>
    <setvar name='view.resourceAccounts.currentResourceAccounts[AD].selected'>
    <Boolean>true</Boolean>
    </setvar>
    <setvar name='view.resourceAccounts.currentResourceAccounts[AD].disabled'>
    <Boolean>true</Boolean>
    </setvar>
    </Action>
    <Action id='0' application='com.waveset.session.WorkflowServices'>
    <Argument name='op' value='commitView'/>
    <Argument name='view' value='$(view)'/>
    </Action>
    <Action id='2' process='Provision'>
    <Argument name='op' value='provision'/>
    </Action>
    <Transition to='end'/>
    <WorkflowEditor x='736' y='192'/>
    </Activity>
    However, there is no success. Probably I got some basic misunderstanding, since provision does not seem to complete when the workflow changes from provision to disable?
    Any help woud be greatly appreciated.
    CU,
    Patrick.

    You need to use DisableViewer view.
    Check following code.
    <Action id='0' application='com.waveset.session.WorkflowServices'>
    <Argument name='op' value='checkoutView'/>
    <Argument name='type' value='DisableViewer'/>
    <Argument name='id' value='$(userId)'/>
    <Argument name='Form' value='Empty Form'/>
    <Return from='view' to='disableView'/>
    </Action>

  • Disabling iOS 7 Activation Lock in an enterprise environment.

    I'm wondering if anyone has found a solution for disabling the new Activation Lock feature in iOS 7 without needing to supervise the device through Apple Configurator?  My dilemma is we have about 50 iPhones deployed in our company.  The only way I have found to disable the Activation Lock feature is to supervise the device using Apple Configurator.  However, if the device is supervised, the user cannot sync it with iTunes on their computer.  A lot of our users do sync their iPhones to keep backups, transfer photos, etc.  So the way I see it, I am left with two choices:
    We supervise all of our iPhones and tell our users they can't sync with iTunes anymore.
    We leave them unsupervised and make a policy that whenever we have to wipe a device we make the user disable Find My iPhone first.
    Has anyone found a better solution to this?  Also if we ever get in a situation where a user leaves the company and they did not disable Find My iPhone, can we send the iPhone back to Apple and have them wipe it?  Or would we be left with a nice expensive paper weight?

    We just stopped providing phones and instead, cover a set amount of their monthly wireless bill.
    If I were in your shoes, I'd offer 2 choices:
    1. The same as #1 in your post.
    2. Let them bring their own device.
    Either you have complete control over it (via the configurator), or no control beyond the ability to wipe the data from a device connected to your Exchange server, require a passcode, etc. That can all be done without the need to supervise them using the configurator.

    How to I completely disable the voice activated dialing on my Blackberry?

    One thing you might try is going to System Preferences/Sound and changing the output from Internal Speakers to Line Out or Digital Out. Line Out would be for headphones. I assume it keeps this setting after a reboot but you should test it.
    Disabling the sound will also disable all warning sounds.  Those can be pretty useful.

  • Difference between Replication and Activation of Data Sources

    Hi,
    I would like to know what exactly happens when data sources are replicated and when data souces are activated
    Regards,
    Visali.G.

    Once you make the replicate of DS at BW, what ever the struc. for that DS would be regenarated, and accordingly your extraction and setup table struc. would get updated by the latest changes made in the DS.
    At the BW side all corresponding communication and transfer structure and PSA structure would also get generated according to the DS struct. per R/3
    Need of Replication in other terms we can say
    Replication needs to be done is each time you save you datasource in R/3. This causes the timestamp of the datasource to be changed and hence the timestamp of the datasource in R/3 and BW are not in sync. Replication would make the timestamp in sync in both R/3 and BW.
    Hence you would notice the error "Timestamp error" when you do not replicate the datasource after changing it.
    Activating the data source, activating the structure and make available the dat source to use.

  • Temporary disable Font auto-activation(UTC)

    Is there a way via javascript to temporarily disable and then reenable the Extensis UTC Font auto-activation for Indesign files?
    I have a script that loops through and opens a file, edits it, exports it and then reverts and does it again for x number of pages. The script used to work fine when manually enabling and disabling fonts but not we have had a few font issues in the PDFs and we're thinking it has to to with the auto-activation interrupting the script or something like that.
    Since the file is opened manually the first time that would allow the auto activation to occur once. The script would then run and disable it, do all the edits. exports. and reverts and then when its done enable auto-activation again.
    Let me know if you have any ideas or if you happen to already know the about the issue.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Everything is normal, it's the result of the command
    To disable auto activating font
    autoactivation -d
    Result -->  auto activation globally changed to AutoActivationDisabled
    To enable auto activating font
    atsutil autoactivation -e
    Result --> auto activation globally changed to AutoActivationEnabled

  • Two node - Two site Active/Active DAG Configuration

    Information
    Both sites exist in a single AD domain
    Site A
    1 Exchange 2013 multi-role server (CAS + MBX)
    Server will contain mailboxes for individuals who work in Site A
    Server will contain database copies of databases in Site B
    Site B
    1 Exchange 2013 multi-role server (CAS + MBX)
    Server will contain mailboxes for individuals who work in Site B
    Server will contain database copies of databases in Site A
    Goal
    To create a configuration where users who work in Site A have their mailboxes active in Site A and users who work in Site B have their mailboxes active in Site B.
    Questions
    Since this DAG has an even number of members, where do I place the witness server? Do I need two witness servers, one in each site?
    It seems to me as long as both sites can still communicate, I only need one witness server to maintain quorum.
    To my current understanding, if Site A has a witness server, and Site A looses its WAN connection, Site B's databases are going to go offline because it has lost quorum.
    I'm assuming if I placed a witness server in each site, and one of the sites lost its WAN connection, then I'd be placed in a split-brain scenario as both sites would still think it had quorum. Is this accurate?
    The company has given me a limited budget hence the reason for only having two exchange servers in this setup. Is my only recourse to have four nodes (two nodes per DAG) in this active\active scenario? If the company says they absolutely cannot spend money
    on two more servers, could I use the current setup in an active\passive configuration?
    Thanks!

    You would need to place the File Share Witness in a 3rd datacenter for automatic failover, otherwise depending which DC the FSW is ( and you can only have one FSW per DAG active a time), then in case of a WAN or DC failure, the databases will be active in
    the DC that has quorum.
    If the FSW is in Site A and Site A goes down, then quorum is lost and Site B will need to be manually swithed over using this procedure:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd351049(v=exchg.150).aspx
    To be truly active/active in both DCs, then you would need to 2 DAGs with each respective FSW in each DC that has the preferred user base.

  • Entry creation field disabled in after activating table

    Hello friends,
    i have one problem, after creating custom table data dictionar, from utility menu i have seen that create entry option is disabled. how can i activate it can any body please help me .
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Virat Mayatra

    Hi Virat,
    Check if you've activated the table, only then will you be able to create entries in the table.
    The other case is, if you've created a table maintainence generator, this option will be disabled. In such cases, the table entries can be made only via SM30.
    Hope this solves your problem.

  • Disabled fonts still active in applications!

    For some strange reason, fonts that I have disabled in Font Book are still showing up in active applications. This started happening after I moved my Users directory off of the startup drive to another internal drive.
    Why is this happening and what can I do?

    The database for Font Book is in a completely different location in Snow Leopard. The update doesn't seem to always do the hand off correctly as I've seen a fair number of posts stating the same problem. Resetting Font Book's database should fix it.
    Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally.
    This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode. Any font sets you have created will be gone. Also, all fonts in the three main Fonts folders (System, Library, your user account) will now be active, regardless of their state beforehand.

  • Rpcclientaccess value blank on Active DAG member - normal?

    Hi,
    I decomissioned a Ex2010 server after moving all the mailboxes over to a new server in the same site a few weeks previously. Exchange was un-installed with no issues and no refernces were left in AD.
    Now, even though the mailboxes are accessible in Outlook on the existing profiles, I'm unable to set up a new profile as it defaults to the old server name, which no longer exists. Also, the users (thankfully only 3 on this DB) Blackberrys have stopped working.
    Done some troubleshooting and found that the BES is still seeing the old FQDN for these users. Upon checking the mailstore on the server, I found that its LegacyDN shows the old FQDN and that RcpClientAccessServer is blank. This mailstore is the active member
    of a DAG set up after the move so, it is normal for this to be blank?
    If not, would setting this to the correct FQDN help rectify the profile and BB resolver issue or would I need to change the LegacyDN as well?
    The Server is running Ex2010 SP1 with all roles (Its a small remote office so this is suffices).
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    As far as I know, the RPCClientAccessServer value is established when the database is created.
    For more information about the basic rules used for determining the value, you can refer to the partition named configure your mailbox database in the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee332317(v=exchg.141).aspx
    Thus, it’s not normal for the value to be blank.
    We can try Lrok’s suggestion to set the value.
    Please note that we should recreate the profile after we change the value to ensure client connectivity.
    Best regards,
    Angela Shi

  • Outlook not switched over to active DAG member after failover

    I have a 2 server DAG stretched across sites for DR.  Both of these servers are multi-role and have the HT, CAS, and MBOX roles.  Everything with the DAG seems to be working fine, as does what turned out to be an accidental failover to the remote
    site.  A fail back also went fairly smoothly.
    However, I've now discovered that some Outlook clients switched over to the DR server automatically and now they will not switch back.  I will come out right away and say that I do not have a CAS array.  I just learned about the CAS array while
    researching the problem.  After refreshing my own mailbox profile, everything swapped back, but obviously I don't want to go around everywhere making that change.  I don't even know how many people are still connecting to the DR server.  In
    fact, the only problem with the people that are connecting to the DR server is a little extra latency.
    Obviously, I would like this to work better, and would like a good way to get the outlook users swapped back to where they should be right now.

    There is a public folder and it is on the same server as the mailboxes.
